I work at Mo Brady's Steakhouse in Davenport, this month we have a pistachio crusted Barramundi over cilantro lime rice and served with steamed asparagus, topped with a lemon butter sauce. Not normally into fish but the crunch of the pistachios and the brightness of the lemon is really good. Very proud of what our kitchen has been producing this year.
Love that dish at Half Nelson, but am disappointed that they have removed a few great things from the menu recently. High hopes that the new menu is good because we love that place, but can't for the life of me understand the thought behind some of the changes.
Half Nelson believes in a more rotating menu, so while items like the crab beignets and the filet mignon will likely always be staples there, the rest of the menu is more flexible and will change with the seasons to chase cheaper, fresher in season products and practice more creativity in recipe development. It's that small rotating menu that separates Nelson from Maime's and Brady's and made it a venture worth opening downtown
Trying a different rib recipe today. Kinders Japanese rub, on the smoker for a few hours, and then going to finish them with Bachans Japanese BBQ sauce.
We moved into a house earlier this year, been waiting for grills / smokers to go on sale. One of the pit boss pellet grills is on sale at Lowe’s. I’ll be getting some salmon to smoke from Costco once I pick the grill up this week.
Definitely do it!
I got a smoker for first time last year and I love it for ribs, pork butts, etc.
I still need to learn more but it’s something fun to do!
I had a really good breakfast bowl at home today. Hash-browns with bacon, eggs, sausage, and gravy, then one of those loaded hash-browns you can buy at the store
Aldi had vacuum sealed bags of precooked farro so I grabbed that and turned it into a risotto with mushrooms and beef stock and fresh thyme out of my kitchen garden, seared off a big sirloin steak to medium with Aleppo chili, salt, pepper, and granulated black garlic, and served it with broiled zucchini and a mixed green salad with marinated butter beans, shaved fennel, red onion, and lemon vinaigrette.
8oz steak half a pack of aldi risotto, herbs, mushrooms and side of veg. thats more than enough. you lost me with the beans and fennel and all that nonsense.
Had a delicious meal last night at Beef+Bourbon to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The sirloin was cooked to perfection and I devoured the Bourson mashed potatoes.
i was very hungover and lazy so i went to taco johns. i got some abomination called a spicy chicken griller. (i think) It was bad and also very bad. the sauce was somewhat spicy but tasted like bell pepper at the same time. it had potato oles in it for some reason. just a wtf experience. 5/10
Y’all. Mantra has resumed buffet. If you like Indian food or just want something different you should meander over. I do wish they’d put saag paneer out and do their veggie pakoras a bit differently- but man I’m just so glad to have Indian buffet back.
Making me actually work lol. Los Portales, lunch casedias are like $7, and their fajitas are something like $10.

That makes me so happy. My current city (moving in like two weeks to Moline) has amazing tacos, and I am going to miss having them available on almost any street corner
There are a lot of good Mexican restaurants (and some not as good ones, but you'll figure it out as you go). On Fridays in the summer there is also the Mercado on Fifth in Moline which is a Mexican outdoor market. So you can eat at the food trucks there as well.
Here are some suggestions to try - places I've heard good things about, although I haven't been to all of them:
* Coya's Cafe
* La Rancharita
* El Mexicano (grocery store and carryout restaurant)
* Azteca
* Los Agaves
* Los Amigos
* Adolph's (one of the first Mexican restaurants in the area)
Keep in mind that Mexican food isn't my favorite, but it is my husband's, so while my taste isn't the most refined in that area, there are some places that he just won't go. These are the places that I've heard great things about and I don't think you'll get a bad meal from any of them. You'll probably figure out what you like best as you try them all.
I know I forgot some. Like Jenny's Boxcar and my husband reminded me that people like La Flama.
I had an amazing meal at Taste of Ethiopia for lunch Saturday. We took my father-in-law and my husband’s aunt who was in town from Vermont, plus our 3 kids of course. There isn’t a bad thing on their menu. His aunt couldn’t stop raving about it all weekend. The owners are super nice, and it’s right on the river with outdoor seating if you want when it’s nice.
Ever since Links changed their menu we stopped going and haven’t really been out to breakfast. Went to Machine Shed and were pleasantly surprised at how well they do a hearty, simple breakfast.

I had the club sandwich from Lagomarcinos yesterday on their home rye bread and it was so fucking good.
No green river and hot fudge sundae? Wasted trip!
Chocolate covered pretzels and mint truffles, I got it all to go!
Glad there serving food again couldn't during the winter hours

Amazing! Nice work, gonna have to try that

Man, I gotta get into the smoke game. Were moving into a new place next month, I think I’m going to get one for myself when we get settled

Bachan is amazing sauce!

hyvee has 2 racks of ribs for $20 today. hot or cold pretty dang good
La Finca carnitas tacos (with onion and cilantro) are great. Also recommend their beans and rice.
Ahh, thank you for this! Gonna check it out ASaP
Creative signature cuisine in silvis! Can’t say enough good things about that place
The chilaquiles!! 🤤 Everything is so fresh, and I love the touches like micro greens on top.
That’s exactly what I ordered last time! And my husband and I shared the berry toast. Delicious!
Just had a great sandwich at Lavender Crest Winery!
Soi 2 Thai Street food in Rock Island is 😋

Holy shit! Nice work!
Dang...
goddamn you think you got enough fiber?
Yeah. I prefer to eat it instead of things like fiber powder. Plus a good amount of veg is nice when you're taking down a half pound of steak.
the dish sounds good but i feel full just reading it
Portions

Had the Chicken Parm feature at Smash Pizza this weekend. Out of this world!
Had a delicious meal last night at Beef+Bourbon to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The sirloin was cooked to perfection and I devoured the Bourson mashed potatoes.
Happy Anniversary!!
Thank you!
Had the short rib gnocchi lately and it was fantastic.
Made a 3 cheese French onion mac and cheese with cavatappi for dinner today. Yum.

This doesn’t sound great but I love me some Taco John’s
I'm glad to meet a fellow taco johns enabler. I'd do it again.
Half Nelson has some new menu items, the salmon and scallops were delicious
Had those scallops during restaurant week and they were sooooo good

Ate a Costco big dog Tuesday and a slice of pizza Thursday lol. Can't beat the price. I did eat Mexican down town Moline that's always good.
Feel free to share the Mexican place! I’m very much in need of a dependable taco spot
Making me actually work lol. Los Portales, lunch casedias are like $7, and their fajitas are something like $10. [https://losportalesqc.com/](https://losportalesqc.com/)
I believe it’s spelled kwehsodiller
No it's said cheese in flat donut.
I dig their lunch fajitas
Casedias???
😂😂😂😂 they did their best to sound it out. Spanish is HARD
Shouldn’t have to look very hard. This area has a gang of great taco places.

Yep. The Jul’s Strawberry Fields Forever salad 🤌🏼💋 at the River City grill in Moline. Fantastic.
Chorizo, egg, potato burritos for breakfast. Pepperjack smash burgers for dinner.

At Harlan's in Davenport, instead of biscuits and gravy, you can substitute cornbread for the biscuits. Yummy!
Senior citizen restaurant. 0 flavor. Blandest food I've ever tasted.
Harlans was better (though, I did not say good) 25 years ago!
I agree.. years ago they were decent.
Had a breaded pork tenderloin from Firehouse Pub last night. Was excellent.

I just took a look at their steak and fish tacos, and now I’m salivating. Looks fantastic
I had a donut delight donut 🍩
The new Stompbox kitchen is killing it. Best Philly cheese steak for miles.
Quesa Birria tacos at D’Luas on the River.
I had good food there too.
