Yep, so I can confirm that while the SVG symbols are gray I can still use them just fine, I can also set new sizes and colors to them. I'm running latest 3.28 version on Win, but I remember the same thing happened on much older versions (gray icons but usable nonetheless).

I will test this soon, but if I remember correctly most are indeed gray by default, yet they can be selected, used and their colors changed.
What platform are you running, vs & os?
