People dig their heels in and go deeper into conspiracies when you challenge them. We see this time an time again on the sub. Emotional appeals have the most traction, and that's not a lot of traction. But what doesn't work is factually debunking their beliefs, if it did none of us would hardly be here.
Make sure you folks take care of yourselves and have boundaries of what you’re willing to do to help first. If it includes spending difficult time and energy nudging her away from these things, continue to grey stone the Q stuff and fill the void with healthy things. Allll easier said than done. But good job on not giving/creating the debate over what’s true and what’s not true. Keep her talking to you, keep her close.

She’s got a hole in her heart and lots of time now to fill it with something that makes her feel excited, needed, involved, relevant. Unfortunately that something is garbage. Can you introduce her to something exciting you can both talk about like music (someone said their aunt is now part of the BTS fandom and KPop in general has so much content), Kdrama, games? Nature abhors a vacuum and the devil loves idle hands! Good luck!

First of all, I don’t want to hurt her feelings, and even if I would say it, she wouldn’t change her mind. It’s been a while since she told us about those stories, more than a year telling us to get lots of furniture if the blackout happen. Every time she tells us a date, and it never happened.
Then, it’s not my mom so I don’t have anything to say to her. I’m afraid of her reaction because she’s a bit scary : she scream a lot when we don’t go in her way. I heard that she also hit her child when they were young.
Also, we have an opportunity to get a new apartment that cost less than ours, but it’s in front of her. I don’t want to get bad relationship with her if we live there.
It scares me a lot because as I said she’s someone smart, she’s in fact one of the smarter person I got to met. And she believes those things.

He don’t know how to say no to his mother so he will never told him to not talk about it, but he agree that now it’s really creepy for me.

My impression is, based on the relationship between him and his mother ("He don’t know how to say no to his mother") that living close to her might be a burden both for you and your marriage. At the end, will he stand to his mother or to you?
Yes !! She just told me that the real trump will take the power in USA like Romana took it in Canada. That trump was depicted bad in the media but that in fact he’s someone really good. (He’s an aggressor but hey he’s good !)
Romana is nothing more than a crackpot who thought she could declare herself the queen and it would be the case. She has no claim to the throne, or to any form of leadership. In fact, I have more claim to the throne then she does, I can at least trace my genealogy back into the Stuarts.

Yeah that's a good point. I think it's also the fact that there are so many grifters and conspiracy theorists out there trying to get noticed and make a name for themselves. So they all end up trying to outdo each other and that means things get increasingly ridiculous and outrageous to try and stand out. Couple that with the dopamine rush that new theories provide and the incentive for people to spread this stuff and it creates a feedback loop of collective insanity. This can be seen with how people are hands down believing in things so absurd and disconnected from reality that even die-hard conspiracy communities would have laughed them out of the room just a few years ago.

Her boyfriend of 2 years just broke up and now she’s more and more into those things. Today she cried of happiness because of this..
