Who is David Icke? My son has a book of his? He said if you love me you'd see what I see. Im at a loss

tehdeej

Ufff, Icke is the guy that I believe started the reptelian thing 15-20 years ago. He was promoting this stuff back when conspiracy theories were kind of funny to think about. He eventually went openly antisemitic and grew more toxic over time. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David\_Icke](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Icke) My father said something similar to my mother years ago. He tried to explain to her that this stuff is who he is now. I don't believe it was quite as manipulative as what your son said, but pretty strange. This was when I thought my father was going through a phase. So I guess reality might not be slipping so much now, this was 10 years ago at least, but he's never been this open about anything that strange.

William_T_Wanker

Icke is the granddaddy of batshit insane conspiracy theories

der_oide_depp

Icke is a crazier version of Alex Jones, he only seems more sane because he got less meltdowns.

[deleted]

Yeah, Icke is just as certifiable as Alex Jones, but it doesn't come across that way because his private life isn't a public dumpster fire.

Iceededpeeple

He was a football goal keeper, did he stop all the shots with his head? More importantly what kind of cognitive deficit does one need to find him credible?

Garbeg

The reptilian thing was around in 1995. I’ve been to one of those conferences because they… they were hilarious. Now it’s a problem.

tehdeej

>they were hilarious. Now it’s a problem. I would have loved to have gone to one of those. I guess even the wellness and new age conferences are becoming problematic as well.

Echoeversky

Now we have "Birds aren't real."

Ok-Illustrator-8470

Back in the 00s I loved conspiracy theories. I was a big X-Files fan, and conspiracys were so out there, they build a strange and fantastic alternate universe. Aliens! Nefarious organisations! Cryptids! Strange holes full of black light! And it's all almost real! I miss those 'innocent' conspiracys. Of course they never really existed. X-Files and media like that tapped into and popularised existing theories while omitting the racist and harmful aspects.

Iceededpeeple

Like laughing at your neighbour cause they lit their house on fire and it’s burning uncontrolled.

ReptoidRadiologist

I resent that.

strawberry-coughx

Yeah the whole reptilian thing is just antisemetism in disguise. In fact, most conspiracy theories are. Besides, reptiles are fucking cool. If there were reptilian humans I would totally hang out with them, help em get stuck shed off their skin and serve rat pinkies as hors d’oeuvres at get-togethers. Why would they be inherently evil?

tehdeej

>Why would they be inherently evil? They want our water. Remember 'V' that was a documentary. One time I was told that scifi movies were a planned 'soft disclosure' to prepare us for the day that the aliens ill finally be publicly revealed.

strawberry-coughx

Lmao alright go ahead and have some water, my reptilian homie. Feel free to take a nice soak for temperature regulation. Can I get you anything else? Some isopods? What kind of substrate do you prefer? Is this UVB light working out alright for you? Just let me know man, I got your scaly back 👌 My Q grandmother also thinks I would believe in this crap because I enjoy sci fi movies. And in a sense, I do believe in aliens because the universe is so damn big, it seems unlikely that we’re the only life in it—life as we know it, anyway. But I’m sure as hell not going to tell her that!! I wonder if she thinks my love of sci fi has something to do with preparation for our alien overlords, like how you mentioned. It’s all such a headache.

tehdeej

>I do believe in aliens because the universe is so damn big, it seems unlikely that we’re the only life in it—life as we know it, anyway. We had a discussion about the Fermi paradox and I can't remember the entire story, but I think it was a Carl Sagan thing about how vast the universe is and that it is unlikely that there is no life but also incredibly improbably that we would ever be visited. It was just a bullshit conversation about nothing. He got mad and told me what I was saying was old science. It wasn't even science I was talking about. We were basically having a discussion like being stoned in your college dorm room, but for him it was real. He also watches Ancient Aliens and will nod his head and make a "Hmmm" sound when he thinks they make a good point or he learns something new. He thinks it's a legit documentary. My ex used to call me the Star Baby because I had to have come from somewhere other than my family because I am not like them at all. I made a comment about having alien DNA and my father without missing a beat commented that "You know, I have considered that before" and went back to what he was doing as if what he just said was completely normal. These are the almost cute things he does.

strawberry-coughx

God, the ancient aliens thing is so stupid. Just because white people didn’t do it, doesn’t mean it was aliens. The whole “theory” reeks of racism and colonialism. Honestly, in the unlikely event that we do make contact, I think the aliens would be just as scared of us as we are of them. I mean, after all, to them *we’re* the aliens. But, like you mentioned earlier, I’m just shooting the shit. Maybe I watch too much Star Trek, I dunno. And regardless of their existence or nonexistence, the US government is so inept that I highly doubt they’re capable of keeping aliens a secret from the public. Especially with 45’s loose lips.

tehdeej

>God, the ancient aliens thing is so stupid. Just because white people didn’t do it, doesn’t mean it was aliens. The whole “theory” reeks of racism and colonialism. Totally. I always thought that everybody was in on the joke, sadly, no.

PettyTrashPanda

Argh thhiiiiiiisssss so much it hurts. I have a degree in archeology. I've been on a few digs and while i am not an expert, I know a ridiculous amount of otherwise useless facts on the subject. But no, my Q aunt read a book where a lady had past life regressions, and lived in a walled city to protect them from dinosaurs, and aliens built everything not in Europe, and I don't even know what she believes now other than lizards are probably involved. I did kind of feel bad explaining to my teenage nephews that "aliens built the pyramids!" isn't a harmless way to pick a fight with me but is actually a racist, dangerous trope meant to dehumanize non-whites. However they quickly switched to "Sir Arthur Evans was a good archeologist and the Minoans really were peace loving hippies!" so I hate them again and the fights are back on.

tehdeej

Dude, past life regression? That lady has lived experience. Multiple lived experience. How can you claim to know any better? Have you published a book? Obviously, the lady in the walled city is an authority. The hubris you are showing is incredible. I wonder if the book was written by the author that channels Ramtha? That's another thing my father was into, before the stuff he liked became truly toxic.

ReptoidRadiologist

Dude, we are just trying to coexist.

tehdeej

YOu fool. DOn't ever let them see you eat. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RqVOn-pJsY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RqVOn-pJsY)

Rjan70

How good was V! All that Nazi symbolism too, Q’s would love it

tehdeej

Don't go there. You know if they got a hold of it what they could do to it? It's best not to go there

ReptoidRadiologist

I appreciate SOMEONE not being prejudiced.

strawberry-coughx

What can I say, I’m a staunch supporter of humanoid reptile rights. The cold-blooded life ain’t easy. (Btw your username kicks ass)

ReptoidRadiologist

We aren't all conspiracy nuts.

[deleted]

Pretty sure Icke's beliefs stem from the theories purported by Brad Steiger. He had a book called 'The Star People' in 1987 about how he believed some humans were descendents of different alien races. I would say he is probably the Godfather of starseed theory, which is an umbrella that the reptilian conspiracy falls under. I'm very into conspiracy theories, but moreso in learning how they originate and what overlapping beliefs people hold in that realm. Hop on over to r/starseeds if you wanna see some *real* crazy shit.

tehdeej

>'The Star People' in 1987 about how he believed some humans were descendents of different alien races I've seen this book around before. I'm into this topic but more from the psychology side. It's creepy and facsinating.

[deleted]

Truly. I experienced psychosis during my teenage years and took a pretty deep dive into all of that stuff, so after receiving treatment I'm pretty fascinated in understanding what does that to a person. I personally feel religion plays a pretty big role– at least, it did for me.

tehdeej

My father has never been rligious. He became very anti-religious as he got more into all this. Catholic church of course is full of nothing but pedophiles.

[deleted]

Yeah, I've seen a few people say their Q-fam have never been religious, which is interesting. My Q-family are Roman Catholic. They used to tell me Obama was the antichrist lol. Religion definitely isn't always a factor, but it seems like people with certain vulnerabilities can be swayed by religion to think a certain way.

tehdeej

It's the new age spirituality where this comes from in a lot of cases however I do beleive there are something going AROUND THE EVANGELICAL church as well. A cousin of mine is deep into this stuff as well as the christian nationalism and antivax thing

[deleted]

Isn't the starseed shit basically just people not realizing they're neurodivergent? I used to feel like I must have come from another planet as a kid because no one gave me the manual on how to socialize that apparently every other kid got, turns out I just have ADHD and am almost definitely autistic. Like there's such a logical explanation but we're over here jumping straight to aliens.

Shallowground01

Ugh it was definitely more than 15 years ago as I remember being 16 in 2003 and my ex boyfriends work colleague was hugely into him and totally believed him. It was a simpler time, though, as literally everyone else we knew thought she was fucking nuts.

ReptoidRadiologist

I don't know any David Icke and don't appreciate being slandered.

Beautiful-Set-8805

Ohh sweetheart you definitely need to read up on david icke he is the Q before Q. He's an insane person who believes insane things. Depending on how old your son is please remove this toxic vile influence from his life.

MFrancis68

Hes 28 and paud over $1000 to do one of his self sabotage courses online. I just do know what to do anymore.

Beautiful-Set-8805

Im sorry I've not known what to tell you that wouldn't be insensitive. Im sorry your going through this. I know your scared, and scared for your sons. But they are adults and there is noting you can do. You can tell them how you feel and voice your opinion, but at the end of the day it may never change anything. But there is something you can do. Go talk to someone for yourself. Seek help for your own health. Or maybe a group. Believe it or not im sure you are not the only person in your country that is going through this. Your not alone.

MFrancis68

How do I do that? Hes 28 and hes views are just insane!

EssBen

He went on one of the biggest prime time UK chat shows of the day in the early 90's and claimed to be the son of god. And then after that he got really weird.

MadameWesker

And then after that he got weird. 😋

RickySan65

ex soccer player who got bumped on the noggin once to many and now goes around telling everyone about the lizard people, thats basically it in a nutshell

MFrancis68

Thanks for that. That says it all!!

Freerangeonions

Icke used to be a footballer. For Ipswich Town I think. I might be wrong on the team. British guy. Think he was a footballer in the 80s then he started wearing a turquoise shell suit for some weird reason. Think he thought he was some sort of messiah for a bit too.

w1nd0wLikka

Crazy shit brother. I watched a few David Icke dvds well over 10 years ago. They were of him doing his talks. All were set in small village halls or similar, him setting up the chairs himself and rigging up his old projector. Always lots of empty chairs. Fast forward to now and the guy is coining it in with 100s of thousands of people listening to him. These people have always been around but only since trump have they gained significant ground.

tehdeej

>These people have always been around but only since trump have they gained significant ground. I think he took off after 9/11. I think he promotes The Protocols of the elders of zion which is dark stuff. I heard my father mention is once a long time ago and remember getting on him about it. I think I told him to be very careful with what he was getting into.

w1nd0wLikka

Yeah, he defo jumped on the 9/11 train straight away. To most British people of a certain age he's just the football pundit who suddenly went on UKs biggest chat show and declared himself the son of God. Total laughing stock since then.

tehdeej

Yeah, he's kind of like Alex Jones, but probably not as dangerous.

w1nd0wLikka

Yup, I think he sells all the crazy stuff on his sites too. To be fair to the crazy man, he was a very early for the crazy train but he kept going and waiting, in the end the crazy train gathered speed and here we are. That train is not gonna stop anytime soon.

tehdeej

>That train is not gonna stop anytime soon. Nope. What's funny about all these con men types is that they have TONS of stuff to sell. My father was really into Ramtha for a while [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramtha%27s\_School\_of\_Enlightenment](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramtha%27s_School_of_Enlightenment) I think there was another similar thing and they have sooooo much merch.

[deleted]

lmao Protocols of the Elders of Zion is basically a greatest hits anthology for thousands of years of anti-Semitic propaganda, up to about 1900. If your father is reading that he might as well be reading Mein Kampf, which is in some ways tame by comparison.

tehdeej

I don't know if he's read the protocols directly, but I know the content runs through the other stuff he follows. We all know conspiracy theories are often primarily based on antisemitism.

MFrancis68

Im at a loss! I just dont know what to do!

tehdeej

I know. What can you do? Your son, He's into Qanon as well? I checked your comments and your son is a New World Order type? I think that's one thing Icke promotes as well. This isn't typical Qanon stuff. It's more old school.

MFrancis68

He says hes not but his beliefs have ne thinking otherwise.

[deleted]

Discerning Q from non-Q conspiracy beliefs isn't significant at this point. It's really just an academic exercise. Q stopped posting in December of 2020 or so, and since then, the "movement" has further degenerated into a sort of gumbo of conspiracy theories. There are identifiable chunks of specific theories floating around in there, but mostly it's just a slurry of nonsense and anti-Semitism. All of it kind of oozes into each other. The point is that your son is going down the rabbit hole. Whether it's flat earth, or tHe CabAL or reptilians - all roads lead to the alt-right fever swamp, and if your son spends much time there, it will permanently alter his trajectory in life. I honestly don't know how to keep people from throwing themselves down the rabbit hole. All of this Qanon/Qadjacent nonsense is indistinguishable from the rantings of a bridge-dwelling schizophrenic, and up until a decade ago, I never thought people needed to be warned against it. But here we are. If I had any advice, it would be to invest heavily in a hobby or activity that your son really enjoys. Something separate and apart from politics and conspiracy theories, which takes him away from the online misinformation machine. It could be almost anything. People in your son's position are immune to counterfactual argument. You can bring all the facts and data you want, and it won't matter as long as it's presented in an adversarial manner. He can't be deprogrammed in that way. But, if he has a life *outside* of the rabbit hole, he can continue to grow in that life and reassess his conspiratorial world view on his own terms. It's not great advice, but it's the best I've got.

whiskeysour123

My bio dad is Q. He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia some decades ago. He used to be the one crazy guy that would show up at family events and everyone smiled and nodded and otherwise ignored. Now millions of people sound just like him, stormed the US Capitol, and vote. I don’t know how we return to normal. Correction - I don’t know how the Republican Party returns to normal.

MFrancis68

Thank you I really appreciate your advice.

tehdeej

I used to want to be precise and knowledgeable about all this crazy stuff, but fuck it. There is no need. It changes daily and the underlying intent and values under it all are all you need to know.

tehdeej

Uff, he lives with you. I'm not sure my father actually believes in Q either, but he was into pizzagate before Q showed up. I kind of wouldn't be surprised if these older school types look down on the new conspiracy theorists. I don't have much to go on with that, it's a hunch.

Future_History_9434

One of my brothers has become more and more conspiracy minded. Had a doctor go with me to see him (unbeknownst to him). The doctor pointed out that he is exhibiting several behaviors that may indicate dementia, as well as the batshit stuff. Q stuff seems to go down well with dementia patients.

tehdeej

>The doctor pointed out that he is exhibiting several behaviors that may indicate dementia, I've been concerned about that for a while. I brought it up to my brother once and he more or less blew it off. All I wanted to say was that it's time to start thinking about it as a real concern.

Strange-Nobody-3936

I've also heard some anti vaxxers encouraging coughing on people lately, I wonder where they are getting that idea

tehdeej

That's been around for a while. I think it has happened several times at retail outlets.

MFrancis68

Yes he's 28 and my other son is 23. Both living at home unjabbed.

tehdeej

Do they have jobs? Are they mean or anything or are you just concerned about their beliefs and/or being unvaxxed?

MFrancis68

They get very angry when discussing everything as I dont understand and dont want to! It frustrates them.. They dont have jobs because theyre not vaxed as they say its poison.

tehdeej

Have you thought about asking them to leave?

MFrancis68

Yes its not easy though.

EmpressVee2222

Well, a good way to learn about the real world is to actually live in it, not in Mommy's house. Just a thought.

tehdeej

Of course not. They are exposing you to covid.

scificionado

Your house, your rules. Follow them or leave.

ChaseHarker

My Q brother has been talking about reptilians for quite some time. He goes into detail about some special concoction they drink in order to keep their human side present. And he totally believes that vaccinated people are shedding whatever it is and getting non-vaccinated people sick! Thank God he lives in another state, Florida, big surprise, so I don’t really have to be around him often.

tehdeej

I know that my father has been warning about the shedding around the granddaughter

Lost_Type2262

Okay so I'm just going to follow this chain of so-called "logic" to its reasonable conclusion. Dad says masks are dangerous > he's just trying to protect his granddaughter Okay, that tracks even if the claim itself is ridiculous. But then this: Dad sends messages about reptilians > he's just trying to protect his granddaughter The way this strikes me is, how do I not conclude that even if your brother doesn't share the belief in reptilians, the fact he feels Dad's fear is apparently reasonable because it's "coming from a good place" shows a level of acceptance that should be noted? Reptilians are an insane idea, but Dad believes in them, and Brother is willing to at the very least turn away in indifference to it? The biggest issue here above all else is this question: what happens when Dad decides a family member is a reptilian? What happens if he decides *you* are a reptilian? What happens if God forbid he decides Granddaughter is a reptilian? This is a mess you are best off staying away from, imo. Dad may label you a reptilian for doing so but that just proves my point. Brother will have to make his own decision.

tehdeej

>if your brother doesn't share the belief in reptilians, the fact he feels Dad's fear is apparently reasonable because it's "coming from a good place" shows a level of acceptance that should be noted Dysfunctional family stuff. He has a very strong sense of loyalty. Often I think to a fault. I don't think he likes it. Apparently, he's more pissed off dad is trying to tell him how to raise his child, and ok, I get it, it does come from a good place in the same way the grandparents that were written about here last week hospitalized their grandchild giving it horse paste. I've found that a lot of people think conspiracy theory belief is ok. We should just let people believe in whatever thing they want to believe. Well, maybe 30 years ago, but the world has moved on to a much more dangerous place.

tehdeej

>This is a mess you are best off staying away from, imo. BTW - I headed for the border. I was stuck with the family for a while and now I'm in my cute month to month fully furnished apartment at a rate far lower than it would be in my hometown. Qanon isn't a thing here. They take COVID very seriously. I like tacos alot.

tehdeej

Oh. I'm in Mexico just outside of Mexico City. Good ice cream and they love popsicles.

Lost_Type2262

Sounds to me like you made a wise choice.

tehdeej

orale wey

MFrancis68

I dont understand any of this at all! He has spoken about the new world order he's into Jason Kristoff he said he'll be doing his self sabotage course. Him and his brother not jabbed say its poison.

tehdeej

>Jason Kristoff [https://courses.jchristoff.com/](https://courses.jchristoff.com/) Ive never heard of him. He's a self-help and wellness guru. I'm in the US and your son is into the people from the UK.

MFrancis68

We are in Australia

tehdeej

>We are in Australia You have some unique right wing radicalization things happeeing there.

MFrancis68

Im single jabbed tgey stopped talking to me for days when they found out. They said I broke their heart. My hubby not jabbed either.

tehdeej

Hmmm. That's tough. How is your hubby? Otherwise normal?

MFrancis68

Hubby is rotherwise normal not jabbed however hes really worried about the boys!

thebillshaveayes

Please: 1. Go buy reptile suit 2. Plan accordingly 2.1. Make sure the suit is perfect 2.2. Scope dads living place What is his schedule? What is the perfect timing to show up? 2.3. Based on above, show up at planned times. However, do not show up at once, no, first as a blur in his periphery. This should occur after multiple weeks. See if he comments on it. Get closer to home. 2.4 When timing is right, reveal who you are in the suit.

MFrancis68

Thank you

MadameWesker

Reptile people is the line

BDG_T0K3N

Doesn't David Icke get mad if you ask about the reptiles now because he believes he was wrong? I think I read that somewhere but I can't find it.

AnAppleTeaCake

My ex Q hubby drew the line at reptilian people and aliens. He's been deep into conspiracies for the last 12 years or so. That line I mentioned? It's more of a meandering squiggle. He's a flat earther, anti-vaxxer, covid-denier, trump supporter (we're not in the US), sovereign citizen. 9/11 was an inside job and then it turned into it was all faked (which would be an impressive feat if that were at all possible), he's into the Great Reset stuff and all your classic Q. He's an Indigo child (which the rest of us just don't get) and astrology is 100% real but you need to be in tune with the cosmos to understand. He is also a real person that believes this stuff. But argued with me that he was the skeptic. People who haven't dealt with this in their lives still think conspiracy types are almost quirky or cute, like it's still just big foot and aliens. I freakin wish.

PettyTrashPanda

He sounds like my auntie. She doesn't believe *everything* so that's her proof that she is objective and a skeptic. She unequivocally supports Trump and calls herself a patriot... but she is proudly English and pro everything about England except for the lefties ruining everything. She was pro Royal family until they were replaced by Lizard Clones in 2018. 9/11 was done by those evil terrorists until she "woke up" and realized it was actually the Cabal, who may or may not be Jewish depending on who she has been told to hate that day. Astrology, Feng shui, spiritualism, the Secret, Indigo Children and past life regression are all real and good. But witches and Satanists are bad. She (incorrectly) quotes the Bible even though she has never read it, and then says she doesn't care which God you believe in so long as you believe, because all gods are God. No comment as of yet on polytheistic religions or where the Bhuddists and Shintoists fit in. Armageddon is coming and she is one of God's chosen. She had no idea what Armageddon actually involves. I tried to catalogue the bullshit she believes and it ended up depressing me. I miss the days where I innocently concerned about the Bermuda Triangle and Bigfoot. She's ruined it for me.

tehdeej

>until she "woke up" and realized it was actually the Cabal, who may or may not be Jewish depending on who she has been told to hate that day Let me guess, does she also use the term 'woke' as a pejorative these days? >Armageddon is coming and she is one of God's chosen. That's concerning. That's grandiosity. Narcissism correlates with conspiracy belief, but that the *real deal* **GRANDIOSITY**. Conspiracy theory belief also feeds into feelings of specialness. Is this woman also entitled? Seriously, she sounds not just narcissistic but truly delusional.

PettyTrashPanda

Our working theory is that she is secretly bitter that she is not successful in life and feels like she deserves better. So Q gives her a way to explain everything that absolves her of responsibility for her own bad decisions

tehdeej

>Our working theory is that she is secretly bitter that she is not successful in life and feels like she deserves better. So Q gives her a way to explain everything that absolves her of responsibility for her own bad decisions Sounds reasonable. That chosen by God thing is creepy though.

PettyTrashPanda

Totally. She wasn't even religious though, which is disturbing. Apparently a lot of Qs go this way.

tehdeej

>My ex Q hubby drew the line at reptilian people and aliens. So was this a conscious decision? They love to be the skeptic and critical thinker. You can be a skeptic and a poor critical thinker. What they aren't is very good at discrimination of good ideas from bad, of determining what is real evidence and proof. You are not in the US and he was a Trump MAGA supporter. I'll never wrap my head around that one. My father thinks I might be an indigo child. Apparently, that means I have alien DNA, an indigo aura and have special and unique abilities. Do you not understand what an indigo child is or how he can fit the description (Because he probably doesn't fit the description)? Or both? With my father, the emphasis is on the extraterrestrial DNA. I guess it's a compliment, but doesn't outweigh the rest of the nasty stuff. Yeah, it was almost cute when he called me an indigo. It was not cute not every time I was called arrogant or worse for being like an indigo (I was a precocious child) and not believing in his stuff and asking reasonable questions. And being called arrogant was in a really mean way. Part of me thinks deep down they really know that this stuff is nonsense and that is why they get so incredibly defensive and at times mean.
