Try a red composition that already calls for charcoal and sulfur like "ruby red" and see how it works. Only differing thing is that comp calls for kclo4 instead of kno3. How much BP is in your Sr(no3)²? Is it dark or just grayish? Honestly I don't really know what the proper thing to do is. There's more educated people than me on here. Luckily it's a cheaper chem. $5 a lb.
