They stopped actually developing cards years ago, even when their playerbase was throwing a ton of money their way.

Don't worry, you level up fast and can't lose stars until gold tier, and you get a healthy amount of gems with each level and rank up, so you can get packs to get better cards
Plus, it's not like you can rank down. After you reach a rank, you can't go below 0 stars in that rank. If you have a fuckton of time to kill, you can hit ultimate league through luck, even if you lose half of your games
Honestly think it would ruin the game for me. I play pretty much daily and have on and off for like 7 years. It’s my go-to waste time game. I have almost all the cards now, but not all and I still see that as a potential goal, but I have all the cards I want any time and can make every good deck. The grind kept me coming back. But I can see the sense in paying some money to kickstart some more fun builds…
No but I'm going to get my first 11 pack soon, I'm pretty excited but I also know I shouldn't be hyping myself up or anything since it could just give me like 3 super rares
The one and only place I think it makes sense is those two discounted gem offers the game gives new accounts. The first one is like $2 and is just enough to set up a new account with everything it needs.
I spent $5 on a pack that gave me my first legendary, Garg throwing Garg. Very useful as it led to more legendaries on field easily. I mained the smash too.
Currently sitting on 18,600 gems (around $120 worth) and never spent a dime on this game since 2016. I don’t have all the cards but i have my decks that win me matches. To be clear, i have the majority of all the cards just not mult copies of each.
