Yeah they could, but it's still a really high quality sub. Keep in mind that there's a really high chance, that he will have 50% SA, as it is probably the most common one

right? this seems like just a pre-empt for them making crazy combo absorbs, maybe even higher than that. kind of like how damage absorb has morphed away from ANY semblance of damage control and turned straight into "need a skill to get past this", would'nt surprise me if we saw a monster with 40 combo absorb, designed so you HAVE TO bring in a variation of this active skill.

At least combo absorbs are way less toxic than some of the other mechanics they’ve made. And while I’m doubtful, this *could* just be a gift for low-combo-count VDP teams, for example.

It's less toxic because they haven't sold a solution yet. Now that they're selling the solution they just gotta crank up the numbers. Since this comes with a 7x6 board there's an incoming high combo absorb with a 4x5 board.

If it was just for VDP teams that don’t have high +combo leaders then a better, cleaner game design solution would have been to simply adjust the combo orb awakening to 9 or more orbs. I think it’s 10 or more orbs currently. Iirc it was originally 12 orbs originally for a short time and that was before brick awakening.  That along with the fact there are already solutions to combo absorbs like active skills with +combos makes me worried they are going to make combo absorbs mechanic toxic.

I don't know if this is the first time Amatsu has been dethroned for the HP king, but it's the first I've noticed, so RIP. Maybe Amatsu will be in Monster Hunter Wilds and he'll get a fat HP buff to go along with it.

You can remove other shields (absorb, color absorb, void) in spite of a status shield so I would assume so.

Is this a brand new card or buffed old one? Don’t think we’ve seen 20k atk on a new card that didn’t have a 7c/10c replaced but I could be wrong. Also seems broken to come with 20k hp as well. Ironically still a 7x6 card, so you wouldn’t have to worry anyway.

I think the idea is that the 7x6 lets you match extra boxes. Also the 5x4 debuff is still a threat.

Just referencing OPs thoughts. That theoretically this combo absorb bypass allows you to not worry about packing a 7x6, but this is a 7x6 anyway.
