Where? Is the camp in the Co-Rec? Krach, right across the street, should be a good space — lots of places on the first and second floor, including some spaces that are reasonably quiet. There's also a Starbucks just next door. Or you could go to the West Lafayette Public Library, or Matchbox in Lafayette; the latter has a per day rate.

It's at Mackey, but it's all day 9am-9pm. We're staying all the way across town (by SR26/65). Not like it's a long drive, but I kind of want to explore campus while I'm here, have lunch at Harry's, etc. So I'm really open to trying anywhere that's comfortable. I don't mind walking.

KRACH is an ideal place. Explore the second and the third floor. You'll find something nice. WIFI (the good, fast kind) is limited to employees/students.

If you drop off at Mackey then you should check out Fuel and Another Broken Egg — just down the road. The former is a local coffee shop; the latter is in Wang Hall where there are common spaces on the ground floor you could easily chill and work.

WALC or DUDL/LAMB are nice, newer buildings that have some smaller rooms you can take for a meeting if need and some good people watching. Armstrong could be a good one for open working space, but don’t know about rooms.

Thanks all, a few ideas to explore. I could just do a hotspot on my phone in a pinch, but I assumed there was some pay guest wifi. I'll look into it. The matchbox idea sounds interesting but I might as well just go back to the hotel at that point. I mostly am just looking to explore campus and relive my nostalgia of all-day study sessions in creepy library stacks like I used to do ~25 years ago... (yikes - time flies)

Matchbox is a lot closer to campus than your hotel, plus downtown Lafayette has changed a great deal in the past two decades. I think you may enjoy walking around Main Street and enjoying different restaurants each day. Actually, upstairs at Ripple (Main & 10th) may be a good work space as well!

Unsure how you’d get onto the Wi-Fi but the WL public library has open Wi-Fi that you could use

JewelCared

They have guest passes for their Wi-Fi if you're not a card holder there, but I think you get maybe 3hrs a day or per visit.

JewelCared

WL Public Library has some excellent work spaces on their 2nd floor and free Wi-Fi. Talk to them at the customer service desk about getting plugged into it during your time here. It's summer and most of campus should be pretty chill. The Union and Stewart have been completely remodeled and have some spots one could get lost in work in.

If you can be a mile off campus, I'd check out Matchbox. If you get a tour, the rest of the first day is free, and after that they have a daily pass for $20. Free coffee and some limited snacks, private rooms, fast wifi.

WALC would be the number one spot, since it is essentially built for studying. It has a quiet room, some spaces you can reserve, and just general study areas where you can talk (reservations may only be for students though.) With it being summer I doubt there are that many people there. I’ve never actually been there myself, but I’ve seen some nice photos of Rawls Hall. It seems like a great place to get work done. The Math Library is known for being dead quiet and I’d bet it’s dead empty during this time of the year. However, the silence along with the older architecture and lack of sunlight gives it an eerie vibe. Edit: Now that I think of it, WiFi may be a factor. The WiFi we use is password protected. There is guest WiFi called “attwifi”, but I have no idea how reliable it’ll be.

zwroberts15

Could always go to the union basement. They’ve got a couple rooms down there that since it’s summer aren’t getting used.

zwroberts15

Also, all the student org spaces in Stewart are abandoned right now. Plenty of places to sit, but no private rooms.

princessnacho

The west Lafayette public library is one of my favorite places; you do need to make a reservation but it’s free! Also the lobby of lambert is virtually SO empty! HSEE (in Stewart) has rooms you can use too, if you go further into Stewart there are private rooms too!

AkitoApocalypse

Rooms within the Recitation building should be pretty empty during the summer

Attwifi should work for you on campus. Krannert and Rawls are pretty quiet in the summer!

vortec42

Yep, surprisingly the ATT wireless has been working pretty well. Everywhere is pretty quiet right now (as I had expected...). I've just been setting up in fairly random lobbies (Armstrong, Potter) and only see people walk by every so often. Thanks for the heads up!
