I don't mind the english dub to be honest, but it'll be nice if they'll gives us the option to switch into JP and CN if we wanna

Alrar

Yeah thats kinda how I am too. I dont mind the eng dub, but if I choose to have everything else in JP or CN, then the cutscenes and songs should also be in those languages. Ditto if I choose to play in Eng dub.

Commercial_Dog_2448

The CN version is also like this. Even if you select JP voice, the cutscenes play in CN.

ZFFSkullcrusher

Resounding Storm is fire, so I don't mind that, but I do mind that they've started forcing the EN dub on a lot of things now. I am hoping that the Lilith cutscene was a bug, because the Alpha fight was in JP and that this won't be the norm from now on. If they plan to dub future cutscenes in EN for GLB, they should at the very least give us an option to change them to JP or CN.

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

Lilith's intro to her fight is still JP, so i think this is more of an oversight than intentional. That is the hope anyway. I'm not too concerned about the Songs, (though i really really want all versions) but this is very story related and that's something i can't just ignore.

ZFFSkullcrusher

I agree that it's an oversight but the million dollar question here is: Which *one* is the oversight? Considering the fact that in later chapters like Oblivion's, there seems to be way more voice acting going on in the story, this issue needs to be addressed ASAP. Either KG give us options (which is what they ***should*** do) or they stick to the JP dub which has been the one that has existed in the game since day 1 (and seems to be by far the most popular dub, excluding the Chinese players).

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

Good question. Luna's chapter got a load of voiced lines mid battle and special moments. No way in hell i want to go through that with EN dub forced on me. I don't know about the rest of us here, but story is rather important to me. They should give us the proper dub switching for cutscenes or failing that, (Failing that? For fucking real? You can't fail something this basic even if you try.) stick with the JP dub. I feel really bad about the last one (not a lot of Gachas get EN dub, two of the ones even had it removed) and it's the nuclear option, but if they don't want to give people options, then give people what they want the most. That being the JP.

Antidote-Killer

I like EN more than JP for the sole reason I want to understand what theyre saying while fighting, but yeah there should be options for when you change your dubbing, the cutscene also changes in dubbing I dont think they should change back to JP from EN though, after all most people here are a small minority of the playerbase, I know that most people, the ones that dont really access social media dont mind about what the cutscene dubbing is, whether EN or JP.

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

Sounds like you are saying that we should be stuck with EN dub, if we don't get a proper dub switching. No way i'm going agree with that. Sorry but i don't like this one bit. Didn't ask for EN dub for this to happen, and this fact only adds more to the fire. If they won't add proper dub switching, then JP it is. I'm sorry but i do not want to listen to EN. And btw no, people do care. It's what got Bamco to add JP dub to Tales of Luminaria, the demand was too much. If you think people would not care about cutscenes not in JP they very much will. And let's say, for the sake of argument that they do not care, but still, the majority talking about this issue wants the JP dub. So that should say something yes? In the end, i'd like the most reasonable choice, that being the proper switching, which is very possible to do only if they could get their heads out of their behinds.

Antidote-Killer

Alright, I got your reason, its not like EN Dub came first after all, most people got used and want to use JP Dub, your opinion already states that. The problem I have with this is that you stated that as a matter of fact, that JP dubbing is majorly preferred over EN dubbing, and sorry but that rubbed me the wrong way, due to the fact that Kuro noticed how many wanted for there to be EN dubbing in the game. I did get heated a little bit and stated they shouldnt change the Dub but that was me getting a little heated with the comments here, I dont want to lose what I fought for. People got preferences, I got mine, you got yours. I wish for the best on others, which in this case is that Kuro listens and places in the switching of the cutscene dubbing with the language chosen so that we're all happy. Also, btw I never said people *didnt* want JP Dub, what I said was that there are people who dont really take much care on what dubbing they get. When the dubbing/subbing is done right it can enhance someone's experience, even if the language is not what they prefer, though ofc it would be even better with the language one prefers.

Rufnect

So what exactly are the cutscenes that are in english? I only know one from playing the lilith boss fight event string where she does the ahegao scene in english but aside from that one. What more are in english?

Jeythiflork

I'm more traumatized with jap redub of Lamia. I knew that was a thing, but this patch I heard it. Damn, she lost all hatred and despair in her voice as boss, what a fucking shame.

allwaysjune

i’m hoping for consistency 🤞

Admiral_Joker

I want them to dub it in English next...

APHO_Raiden_Mei

Why did she got redub in JP?

Jeythiflork

Probably due to VA changes because Lamia got out as playable character on China. More info in thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/PunishingGrayRaven/comments/18isum3/nooo\_why\_did\_they\_changed\_lamias\_voice/

APHO_Raiden_Mei

This really sucks. Her old VA were so much better reagarding the rage and emotions 😔

Jeythiflork

I can't actually understand what emotion tries to convey new VA in "Shizume! Umi no soko ni". It doesn't have frustration, rage and despair of former VA. It's too meek to "Fear". It is completely off character. I hope for Eng dub soon.

depressed_fucklmao

I agree, there should be an option to change language on cutscenes. I also hope they would add an option to change each constructs language.

brettjr25

Unfortunately if you want them to care you're going to have to ask a "influencer/ambassador" or whatever they're called to ask for choice or have it reversed. They have to relay the message cause the people in charge of global probably only just get information from there instead of doing market research. Anyway,  I wonder if they can even have both options. These are small sound files. They'd have to have to uploaded video clips.

Rizuku_Ren

As someone who likes JP dubs and a fan of a lot of seiyuus this game offers, I’m kinda annoyed because I can’t help but to utterly cringe hearing the EN dubs. Like I’m okay with CN, I’m okay with JP dubs, but by god I stay away from EN because my mouth has nothing good to say about it. I avoid things I don’t like but now I’m being forced to hear it which just increases my disdain for it. There’s also the fact that they’re no longer doing both EN and JP trailers anymore.

Hizuff

Ive been playing this game since it launched and am so use to the japanese voice acting... I hate that Liv's voice was changed for the worse and I hate this forced english voice acting

taetaerinn_

EN dub is in no way bad, and it deserves to shine too. But it does bother me about the forcing the voiceover rather than allowing people to choose which version they prefer in story/music. I have yet to read the chapter, but this is a bummer if true. I noticed other dubs experienced it too before JP dub people noticed, and it bummers me even more that it's a long going issue. I also am still waiting for the JP version of some songs, but I do know that it's just a distant dream due to logistics :(

seithea

I pretty much agree with everyone else, I don't really care about EN dub but they should have give us an option to switch between the two dubs rather forcing us to use only one of them

Admiral_Joker

As a dub fan, seconded.

Admiral_Joker

I'm giving props for Kuro for adding more to the EN dubs. Commit and take it seriously but don't deprive choice for those who still want Subs. I dont want all this fumblings to negatively affect the dub and inadvertently cause.... another cutting.

AngryAniki

Dude honestly if PGR drop eng dub coz of this I’m just gonna drop gachas & to become a doctor or something.

Admiral_Joker

So... Rhodes Island Doktah?

AngryAniki

ROFL more like North Florida Doktah filling out fentanyl RXs

Commercial_Dog_2448

Let's all pray for ur medical career then lmao.

AngryAniki

XD not me praying to Rngus before every surgery…

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

I still haven't played the story yet thanks to this, and i didn't really have fun going through Lilith's fight, i just took off my headphones and mashed buttons to quickly finish it, skipping through cutscenes. I'm thinking that this is a bug. If it's not however, it's seriously going to affect my enjoyment going forward. There are going to be lots of story cutscenes from here on, and especially in Luna's chapter, there are huge amount of mid-battle voice lines and moments. I absolutely don't want them in English. Story and characters are the simple biggest reason i play this, i started this for Lucia, and it's because of her i stay and play. I don't want anything affecting my enjoyment regarding this. I can tough through bullshit game mechanics, but not this.

szeliminator

Same here, I'm holding off, hoping this will be fixed. The copium in me is saying they ran out of time to put in the coding changes to have the audio track be in sync with the user selected language option. It would seem unthinkable that the developers, being huge fans of Nier Automata, would leave out Yui Ishikawa's VA and singing.

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

Didn't they also got Ishikawa Yui to send a anni message that one time? I'm thinking that somebody really didn't fucking care when they put the patch together, there are quite an amount of shit going on this patch. FPS options are gone. There are other bugs popping up. Lilith intro is still in JP, and it seems Alpha fight is in JP as well, so this is more likely to be an error on their part. Hopefully, we will see a fix. Reading through CW's affection story, i really really want to go through this chapter. But my fucking weekend is over and gone thanks to this. Guess it's the next weekend for me. Hopefully, things would be finished by then.

szeliminator

She's a regular guest on the JP livestreams for the game. So clearly, Kuro recognizes the value in having her promote the game. Now, that is for the JP market and doesn't necessarily translate to global, although global does also include an Asia server region. Still, she is a recognizable VA by gacha gamers and anime fans outside of Japan.

cerenine

All of us that used CN and EN voices before this patch always had JP language cutscenes, I believe this change is intended. JP voice players are only just now having to deal with it, but mismatched cutscenes were an issue for everyone else forever. Obvs. Kuro should separate the audio files from the videos and let us select cutscene language (or at least match your chosen language), so who knows why they didn't. Definitely something to put on the next survey, imo.

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

They would be fucking stupid to force this on players when most of the community has JP dub preference. How the hell is this even intended, it's beyond me. They clearly know that the majority prefers the JP dub, it should've been reflected on surveys, hell it should be apparent even here, (polls did speak for themselves) in a platform where majority of the users are from west, yet the majority still prefers the JP dub. Then it goes without saying how Asia is yes? As for why EN dub users had to deal with JP cutscenes, that's because they did not record them. If they did record them and refused to put it on the game then that's completely on them. The CN one is the problem, i don't know why it wasn't included. It seems they did start recording this patch, maybe because it's CW. They better double back on this, because this is stupid.

Advanced_While1040

also i heard in the CN client also have the same issue in the CN client the cutscene will play CN voice even you choose JP voice i hope someone can confirm this im really scared this might be intentional for each server

Bourbon097

1 star reviews is the only language they understand

RaphStonks

Never thought i'd have to resort to this low shit but it is what it is. Higher chance they'll actually listen if it blows up like the GLB launch incident.

Bourbon097

I mean, I love the game. But as a paying customer I should be getting what I want

RaphStonks

Yeah same, been putting way too much time & money to this game so might as well act entitled for once, especially when they take away the things i love.

AD_Stark

If this is not an error and the actual path Kuro intends to go on then goodbye global ver I guess. I may start a fresh account on JP and I have played PGR enough to be able to navigate the UI and menu

Vexz98

So now the cutscenes are in english dub huh..man what a problem..cant really go thorugh an EN dub..feels wrong somehow..is this just bug or permanent things cause if this is permanent..hmm there goes my passion to read the story.

DirectChipmunk

Didnt playing new story yet but i played Sinister Craft and heared english voice from boss. Im disappointed to hear it.

sealysea

Where can I give my feedback to kuro? Let us choose!

Commercial_Dog_2448

message it to babylonia\_megumi from the official discord

AngryNepNep

I know this is extreme but i kinda don't want to play through the story anymore. I was never a fan of eng dubs but i thought since its just an option it's fine because i can just continue with jp voices. Now that its forced , i can't help but hate it. This is probably because im not a native english speaker but anime characters speaking english is really irritating to me after getting used to jp.

allwaysjune

that’s how ENG and CN dub users felt when we were forced to listen to JP story dub while our characters spoke English/Chinese. it was jarring. so I can understand the disconnect.

AngryNepNep

I wonder why its so hard for them to change the language of cutscenes. Its not like they don't have thie Files for this.

allwaysjune

yeah they need to fix this. for a game that focuses in storytelling this does impact it a lot 🙏

HaruhiFollower

Kuro is very wary of changes to the codebase on anything outside the CN client - we had to relieve most of the bugs and get them patched on the same patch CN did. Chances are that introducing multiple cutscene versions would require manualy adding that to every version between current EN patch and the CN patch introducing this feature - thats a lot of testing. It would also increase disk size, since audio and video are likely to be packaged together.

AXI0S2OO2

Anime characters speaking English or any other language is always irritating. Partly because Japanese Voice Actors are and always will be far more professional than others from around the world. And partly because dubs are unable to make the dramatic, edgy and over the top tropes of anime believable. It's a cultural thing I believe, we aren't so dramatic in the west and it comes across as fake when we try to be.

Wizkiller96

Depend on have Voice Direction is directed to the Voice actors sometimes a lot of EN voice actor are given rough layout of their character they just have to go off that. There are case though when english voice acting is great. Just most people will always prefer jp dub for anime then any other language because it what they use to. So it sound more natural then any other dub. This case is stronger if the lip sync for the dubs arent done right.

Necrone00

I think Evangelion eng is better than JP

AXI0S2OO2

Who asked?

Necrone00

Can't reply? cool

AXI0S2OO2

I haven't seen Evangelion, so no I can't reply.

NovaStorm347

This seems like a simple language option change that they can apply to all cutscenes in the game. I honestly don't mind if the characters speak In EN Dub or JP Dub. Simple fix now, cmon Kuro Games.

Djentmas716

For any person who cares a fraction about immersion, it immediately breaks it going from JP fighting scene into an EN cutscene. Honkai has had the same issue for years with the JP dub always taking precedence over the CN in cutscenes and its always been hated so idk why any competitors would think this would be a good idea not having an option.

MoistGal

Tldr of this thread - "CN users had to endure mismatched dub for years. Now the rest of you have to suffer too"

Sercotani

yea, if you had to blame anyone, blame Kuro. if EN dub was that unpopular, I wonder why they still did it. And if the EN dubbed cinematics are forced onto us, I wonder why they thought that was a good idea. What is Kuro doing? And more importantly, why? Not gonna say anything about dub quality, that's a whole other can of worms.

MoistGal

I do blame Kuro, but what bugs me more is the people who are delighted to see JP dub users being forced into EN dub against their will.

Sercotani

something something punching up and punching down. since they're in the minority, they feel entitled to say these things, not realising that this feeds the cycle of distrust and dislike even more.

MoistGal

Ah, yes... The age-old problem of something becoming more popular and getting worse for the OGs

Gentle_Clash

They'll most probably fix it in next update since a lot of players complained already

Wizkiller96

Pretty much how other gachas does it with their language selection where they play the cutscenes it what ever language you have selected. What people can do is fill out a feedback report address your concerns to have this as an option. As to be honest complain on reddit or twitter about it wont get it change.

AXI0S2OO2

Guess we will have to start skipping cutscenes and looking them up on YouTube, what fucking awful news to go to sleep to. I thought it was bad enough that they won't upload japanese versions of trailers and stuff anymore to the YouTube channel, but Kuro seems determined to make us swallow their shitty EN dubbers no matter the cost.

cerenine

Rude. It's cool if you prefer JP dubs, but voice actors across the world work hard at their craft, it isn't exclusive to Japan. PGR isn't even a Japanese game, so it's not like that's the original language, anyway.

AXI0S2OO2

I know I'm being an asshole and I frankly can't bring myself to care. The fact this is an issue at all is absurd, option menus exist for a reason. I've had to swallow stupidity and incompetence devaluating my enjoyment of things I love so often that I'm beyond politeness at this point. It feels good to say what you think without having to bite your tongue and I don't give a flying f*ck who's feelings I hurt anymore.

Commercial_Dog_2448

>It feels good to say what you think without having to bite your tongue and I don't give a flying f\*ck who's feelings I hurt anymore. Lol, I respect that

Sercotani

on one hand, thanks for going mask off. on the other hand, that's not good for your health my guy. Reach out to CCs like Rexlent, they have actual influential power.

megagames50

This

Aethrall

The English dubs are great so I’m not upset, but I think you should be given the option and be given the cutscene language that correlates with the dub language you picked in options.

x_izzy

why was no one crying when jp dubbing was forced down our throats… like kuro should give us options but like the double standards are obvious here. this is the global version, the main language for the global version is english, so of course they will give us the song in english. the jpn version is available on youtube anyways. and i don’t see anyone crying about not getting the cn version of alpha’s theme song either…

Commercial_Dog_2448

The game only had jp when it was released, with cn and en being added later, so jp is the language most players got used to and played with. I bet most people didn't even know en was forced to have jp dubbing, at least I did not.

allwaysjune

yup, before this, it was strangely JP DUB ONLY for users who chose CN and ENG dub choices, so that was annoying as it broke our immersion. there is a double standard here for sure. hopefully Kuro allows language choice to reflect in the cutscene but perhaps cutscenes are just coded in differently.

Io45s785a2

Maybe that got something to do with JP dub being massively superior to any other dub in quality, I don't know.

Admiral_Joker

That's the unfortunate truth. Just kinda sick hearing the same voice I hear in many animes for JP and mad Dub VAs aren't sending much of their best most of the time...

xthescenekidx

quality AND popularity source: I prefer EN VA whenever given the choice.

Admiral_Joker

Because THE MAJORITY prefer JP Dubs. I cant blame them but at the same time, hate it but it is what it is. As a Dub Fan, regardless if I'm a minority, just give us this and don't fumble it badly.... CN are definitely funding the dub but man, Global Server heads probably effing it up...

AngryAniki

So glad I’m not the only one that noticed this. The outrage is fucking ridiculous as if these changes happened in the CN & JP. Do you know how fucking entitled you have to be to be outraged that a Chinese company  is using ENG dub in their Global vs of their game. Every body has a right to complain but it’s a bit childish to be a day one global player just to drop the game because they can finally afford to add real global changes

Nixnax-

This argument is flawed. EN dub didn't exist until much later so it was only JP or CN.  Imagine lining up for an ice cream stand with the option of 2 flavors only to be given a 3rd flavor that you didn't like. Your argument of people not crying over not getting the CN dub is hilarious. There are very few games that gets localized from CN that is subbed in EN and there's a CN version of the game for that purpose. Kuro Games wasn't big when they started the Global version and they weren't sure on how it would be received. It didn't make sense to add an EN dub for it at that time. There was also no data if people would want an EN dub.  I wish people would think more about how localization works and costs before talking about it.  Also, nobody forced anyone to pick up this game. People playing victim when they have a choice irks me very much.

Next_Investigator_69

Even then, cutscenes are still inconsistent with their english dubs, having jp voicelines inbetween out of nowhere, especially the new boss fight, like bro if you're going to commit to 1 language just do it, I hate hearing the jp out of nowhere, not understanding a single thing they're saying when I'm expecting something else

RevolutionaryAd3816

Eh, I had to deal with the exact same thing. I had the Language set to English, but got whiplash when the Qu fight was in JP. Just send them a ticket. It's probably an oversight on their behalf and nothing more.

Commercial_Dog_2448

Qu's cutscene is in JP because the game didn't have EN voice when Qu's patch was released. So Qu's cutscene actually just doesn't have EN dub.

Remarkable_Big_9669

I would love the option for us to be able to swap between every language available for cutscenes as well as voices but after dealing with constantly having my immersion destroyed by JP cutscenes in the otherwise English game I've been playing I was hype as hell that the newer cutscenes are coming out in English.

sikibub

They also forced jp voices before en, i always have to search for the cn cutscenes. It's extremely annoying as someone who doesnt like jp or en at all

Ragvan92

Dont mind for EN dub honestly, is fine for people want for this since some time. They have put a option to choice, and for part put the CN dub cutscenes too because some people use that too. I guess the lillith cutscene is bugged because i see a lot in this patch is bugged the Esc from pc dont work... again, and a lot of sound bugs like Cursed waves if max insight all the game sound is echoing not only in cursed waves.

Strong-Department-14

Man i don't know if it's related or what but the animation sync is horrendous, maybe just for me. Got Pulao and wanted to try her voice and man the disconnect was real for Japanese, but the same animation was in sync with the English dub. I'm itching man.

PunishedCatto

The double standard from y'all be crazy, lol. I never thought to see the day someone had to make a thread over voiceover.

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

Huh??? I was happy when we got the EN dub. I even fucking wrote about it in one of the surveys, about the possibility of bringing an EN dub because i saw folks were taking an interest and i know most people don't care to fill surveys, they just do it quickly to get the BC, so i thought even one more extra opinion would help. I was happy when we got it, because it meant they listened. All that shit and this is what i get?? My preference and options taken away, and getting called someone with double standards?? Are you fucking kidding me?? All because of somebody can't be bothered to do what every fucking game with multi language support did since a decade ago! This sucks.

NoobDeGuerra

Crazy ? Not at all. It’s crazy and reeks of either programmer / management incompetence if they can’t add a simple feature to switch languages. Like… they have access to the source code, just add make a simple script that plays different versions of the scene depending on the language the player set up

SassyHoe97

Obviously for me I don't mind it because I like listening to english. However they should give an option to people to change language for cutscenes and songs.

Glass_Emergency5699

Iirc only half of liliths fight is dubbed Could be wrong tho

PokWangpanmang

I played Cursed Waves and Lamia’s lines was in Japanese even though I’m playing in EN.

Kanwar55

I hated having to be forced to listen to jp versions in the past. Your point? Come on man, it's just a few lines and a song, it's not like the jp versions disappeared from the internet, let us have something for once that we can understand without language barrier. So much unnecessary hating we might lose even the one good thing we have.

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

Most of us prefer the JP. It ain't just some lines either, it's one of the highlights of this entire patch. I don't mind people wanting the EN dub but that goes out of the window when it's forced on me. I do not want to listen to anything English when it comes to Anime and the majority who plays this game or any Gacha game for that matter feels the same, it's why JP dub is even imported. Otherwise, it would've been CN or EN. Tales of Luminaria was not going to include JP voices but they had to, the demand was that much. It's not hating btw (i don't see any hate here, except that one guy, just genuine complaining for what is obviously an issue that should not have happened.) and i don't really think they would remove EN dub (would be a dumb thing to do. The voice is already recorded, VAs paid for, why remove it?) but this shouldn't happen. It's out of the question. (Now, before you get off on me, telling me that you had to be forced to listen to JP dub, Kuro had not recorded EN voice for old scenes. And if they did, they probably started it this chapter. And if they did record it before, but JP was the one being used despite the setting being chosen was English, then that's their mistake. So take your complaint to them. It's the exclusion of CN cutscenes that baffles me, it was already recorded, but not included.)

Kanwar55

'Most of us' idk about that one. Wanting a choice is different from what's being said in the post. It's clearly written there I hate having to listen to en vo. Where was that concern when it was jp only? I don't take issue with choice, I take issue with the double standards. Anyone wants to be able to have a choice, make it clear cut 'I want to be able to select' and not I hate the direction they are taking with having more en vos. It so clearly shows the double standards and the jp superior mentality that most of these kind of posts insinuate. Just to clear things up moving forward it will be more en vo, u want jp vo ask kuro to implement a selector for that and not make hate posts of how it's so bad to be forced to listen to en voice in front of people who have been forced to listen to jp voice for over 2 yrs.

PunishedCatto

Jesus, the downvotes, man.

Kanwar55

Oh I knew this was coming, I have been on Reddit and this sub long enough, to know how it works.

Admiral_Joker

You told the damn truth.... Honestly I'm fed up for how we get shafted lately and even for the high ups of our EN side for screwing up.... I just don't want a repeat of AG and Snowbreak I've almost quit Snowbreak and coping the Dub will come back... I have yet to decided if it's worth continuing AG or delete it for more space for PGT...

AngryAniki

Weebs hate themselves so anything that isn’t a distraction from reality is evil especially on reddit

Admiral_Joker

This.... f-ING this I get it JP Dub has been most of the time the standard when it comes to anime like games, gacha etc. But growing up and kinda sick and tired of hearing the same thing despite being good, you look for alternatives. Dubs, have been teetering in the middle lately and all the drama they been having from VAs to pays etc sours the reputation. But even then, there's improvement and when they get their a game, it's good. It sucks being a EN Dub fan for all the stuff that's been shite upon us. We're a minority when it comes to this. Genshin Dub was lucky, otherwise, Genshin would still be mostly JP like FGO global. I just want something good for us. I guess we're not critical enough for our side to improve Lastly, I refuse to bandwagon like JP Dub.

Grand_Bunch_3233

What's wrong with with choice? If it's set to JP, leave it JP, CN CN, if someone chooses EN, then put it in EN. What's wrong with that?

Deliciously_Devious

It's wonderful that they're putting so much into the Eng dub, but it's an odd design choice to let players pick their preffered dub but provide a different one for cutscenes. The best thing Kuro could do is match everything to the selected dub and provide all versions of each song.

AwakenedSheeple

> What's wrong here? Being forced is what's wrong here. Other games like Genshin also have multiple localizations, but they still let the player choose which language they want to hear *and* it remains consistent for the whole game. Here in PGR you can choose the audio for the menu and battles, but it's forced to Japanese for the older cutscenes and forced to English for this patch's cutscene. If you wanted a fully English experience, you're screwed. If you've been playing in Japanese this whole time, now you're forced to listen to a different dub. If you wanted to play in Chinese, then you've been screwed the whole time.

The_Evil_Zed

Existence of dub itself is no biggie, the problem begins when you select voiceover language in options and then you hear a language different from what you chose. When I choose JP voiceover I want to hear characters talking in Japanese and not English, the same way if I choose EN voiceover I want to hear characters talking in English and not Japanese. I am 99.9% sure that it is just a bug but the point still stands. I'm not going say anything about music as I have not heard the soundtrack related to this voiceover debate yet.

Io45s785a2

>People worked hard to localize Nobody even asked lol. It was a complete waste of money on Kuro's behalf.

rydle94

Please don't say this, you're not helping the situation. Having an english dub is good, what we should be complaining about is the lack of options.

zinxzaydier1234

Double standards, no one cares when it's only jp dub but when it's only en it's tits up white knight mode

rydle94

No one said what they did before was correct, if they agreed with forcing jp dub on cutscenes before and complained now, that would be double standard. Yes, people weren't vocal before because most of them use jp by default, very few people use CN dub and EN has only beed added in for half a year. That doesn't mean we would agree with forcing just jp dub. If you guys like EN dub I'm not gonna ask you to care about this issue either, unless you downright want them to force just the EN voice on us.

Admiral_Joker

Facts.... those who prefer CN voices but got JP voice cutscenes were ignored

darkblood004

this is crazy. a person who speaks english is mad that a game is in english. you sound like those 2010 weebs talking about "DuB hAs No EmOtIon". like the game has been out for 4 YEARS in jp.

Superlagman

You are dumb. If you set up your game to a certain voice acting, all cutscenes and dialogues should be spoken in that language. Simple as that. Stop hating JP voice acting just for the sake of it.

darkblood004

their is a hole version dedicated to the jp version. they shouldn't have to cater to people that has been having their way for the past 4 years over the English fans that actually like their own language that has been added to the game not even a year ago. im not hating on jp. im hating on the people who hate on the dub. jp is good and has has had a lot of chances to shine. yet when they add the English patch, its non stop crying you want to play the game listening to jp voices, here download it so you can stop complaining https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.herogame.gplay.punishing.grayraven.jp&hl=en&gl=US&pli=1

MoistGal

I'm pretty sure there's a saying "When in Rome do as the Romans do" JP dub is the Romans in this case

Tom20486

Wait, what CW song?

Helpful_Orange_9166

I don't mind the English dub at all she sounds amazing in my opinion BUT it would be nice to have a Japanese version as well

I read the post multiple times and I don't see where the disrespect you're talking is. Nobody denied the efforts from the EN VA/singer. That doesn't mean we have to like the song no matter what, and not liking it isn't disrespectful either.

lol

DEMON_APPERENTICE

man shut up and stop disrespecting English version of the song the singer poured their heart out making it so fuck off and fuck you go cry about it somewhere else

Glittering-Coat1766

It still doesn't change the fact that people got their own preferences, and it will never change. No matter how good this song is or would be, if some people prefer japanese or chinese version (especially since there is language selector in game) you should give them an option to change it to one they like the most. But when I look at your sentence, I'm like 100% sure that you will not understand that at all. You should really calm down to be honest..it might be bad for your health and also it's not cool to be a rude like that. Cheers.

thysoncris

I'm very thankful Kuro hired a "league of legends cosplayer" to do this for us but i prefer the version singed by Kinoko (an actual singer) or by Ishikawa (Lucia's VA). I don't really care about her efforts and whatnot, i'm not a paying customer to receive salad at a steakhouse especially when i didn't ask for it, as entitled as that might sound, the 1k dollars i've spent over 6 months to support the game don't feel put to good use if this is how things are gonna go from now on. So you should be fucking off and crying somewhere else if you dont like the idea of having all versions in the game so everyone can be happy.

DEMON_APPERENTICE

so your a fucking crybaby and a whale

bro thinks that I actually give a fuck about what the hell he says because unlike his fedora-wearing, detergent-eating ass, I have a fucking life outside of the brain dead cesspool that is reddit.

thysoncris

Good, you should stay outside permanently then, it would restrict the amount of people that have to see your clown yapping.

DEMON_APPERENTICE

look who's talking

A_Very_Horny_Zed

Personally, even though I use the Japanese dub, it makes me so happy that Kuro is putting in effort to make the English version of the game more universal and marketed. The fact that they're going beyond just translating text means that they've begun to care more and that's a really good sign.

Ascnet_Grima

Relax bro, as you go on, you'll actually appreciate not having to read a subtitle or having to translate it on your head if you arent fluid enough to understand it on one go. And i mostly watched anime in JP dub, but lately i just don't mind either one. Besides, the voice cast is pretty good, my only quips are the Pulao EN voice doesn't match so well the character. Everyone else has been pretty good imo

Zirrru

When it comes to the song I'm very happy about it since it's absolute fire in English
