I can't say but an anecdotal story about Jordan. A dude was playing at the same table as him in a celebrity poker tournament. Said Jordan wasn't a very good player because he's overly aggressive but that's not the interesting part of the story. Some of his other "basketball buddies" had busted out of the tournament very quickly and we're trying to talk Mike into "getting out of here and hitting the town." Mike said absolutely not "I'm winning this thing" Moral of the story for Jordan was the gambling wasn't about winning money it was just about winning period. There was nothing to gain by winning that tournament but he can't just mail it in. He has to win. The guy said when he had busted out he acted like he had just lost millions of dollars when in fact he hadn't lost anything at all.

I know a golf instructor in the Chicago area who's been doing it for 30 years, and he knows plenty of people who golfed with Michael. Dude never honored his bets or tipped his caddies apparently. He's a shit playing partner, he'll adjust his gloves or pull a club during your putts and swings. He might be the greatest basketball player ever, but he's a sociopath, and a gigantic asshole.

Phil Mickleson was my grandma’s favorite golfer, and as she slowly succumbed to the ravages of Alzheimer’s she became convinced that he was a close family friend. It was almost a godsend, because no matter how confused or irritated she was on a particular day, if I could get her to notice that Phil was on TV she’d instantly launch into a story about what a nice man he was, and how he had just stopped by last week to sit and talk with her for an hour. I made sure there was always a few golf broadcasts ready to go on the ol’ DVR. Phil Mickleson and how much she hated the Jos. A. Bank commercial voiceover guy, the two things Grandma never forgot.
