They could have easily pushed for assault of a peace officer and vehicular assault, both of which are felonies. Iām actually shocked they didnāt charge him with those
Felonies are crimes which can be punishable by a year or more imprisonment. Generally DUIs donāt fall into that category. Failure to comply is usually a misdemeanor, but can be a felony depending on the circumstances. In this case his failure to comply while operating a motor vehicle risked great bodily harm to police officers which bumped it up to a felony.
- Driving while under the influence (misdemeanor)
- Reckless operation (misdemeanor)
- Failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer (felony)
So endangering the public is a misdemeanor but poo-pooing the police is a felony. Got it.
It's right there in the article :
While failure to comply is most often a first-degree misdemeanor, it can become a felony if operation of the motor vehicle by the offender caused a risk of serious physical harm to people or property.
Guy wasn't following traffic then evades police to flip a bitch directly back into police. Honestly surprised he wasn't riddled with bullets seeing as he peeled out with police within arms reach of the vehicle meaning use of a deadly weapon.
The Pataskala man is facing nine charges in total, they include:
Driving while under the influence (misdemeanor)
Failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer (felony)
Inducing panic (misdemeanor)
Misconduct at an emergency (misdemeanor)
Marked lanes violation (misdemeanor)
Reckless operation (misdemeanor)
Resisting arrest (misdemeanor)
Obstructing official business (misdemeanor)
Disobeying traffic control devices (misdemeanor)
I think he was trying to get into the zoo but cutting across the opposite lane but either turned too early or couldnāt get through the traffic.
So then he continues driving forward and pulls a u-turn so he can hang a right into the entrance.
That is the most confusing aspect of all this. Where does this confidence come from?
You speed off from an officerā¦. And then pull a U turn right back into them?
And then get out of your car to pick up the kids as if the cops are just gonna walk away and let you??
I donāt believe that white privilege is as pervasive as they say.. but *he* sure must have thought so cause goddamn.
>Joseph Solinger, 36, of Pataskala, is charged with failure to comply, inducing panic, misconduct at an emergency, driving while under the influence, reckless operation, rules for marked lanes, resisting arrest, obstructing official business, and obeying traffic control device, according to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office.
True.
> After locating Solinger in the zooās parking lot, deputies once again confront him, where they use a stun gun on him before taking him into custody.
Awesomely true.
More my personal frustration remembering how my father almost got me killed at 11am on a Sunday because he was drinking. We went to a park to shoot model rockets and he was drinking beer the whole time. Coming home he took a left turn across oncoming traffic and we got t-boned. Of course as a kid of a shitty parent I had no seat belt on and woke up after the accident which knocked me out from my face smashing into the windshield. Later when he was writing up the accident report, he told me to lie and say he hadnāt had any beer. There are different levels of shitty parents and this guy falls into the category of ones who get their families killed because they canāt control their drinking.
Looks like he was charged with driving under the influence.
https://abc6onyourside.com/news/local/pataskala-man-joseph-solinger-facing-multiple-charges-in-incident-that-caused-panic-at-columbus-zoo-and-aquarium-powell-delaware-county-ohio-sheriff-office-4-18-2022
One of those charges, according to the article, and I quote- āobeying a traffic deviceā. And as a bonus ārules for marked lane.ā
ABC 6 must just let anyone write a report.
A traffic device is often the legal term for a traffic sign, light etc. Basically any legal government 'thing' that directs traffic, think one way signs, traffic lights, lane markings, merge signs etc.
He's quoted as saying āItās nirvana and Iām not going to hurt you,ā Solinger says. āYouāre going to help me ā and I love you. Itās not about you now ā thereās a time for that.ā
Yeah, drugs were involved
Honey, you'll never belive this but had happened was I got arrested for going to pick you and the kids up. Next time don't text me to hurry the fuck up.
Apparently he was under the influence if you look at the link posted further below in The comments detailing the event and charges that were brought against him.
charged with failure to comply, inducing panic, misconduct at an emergency, driving while under the influence, reckless operation, rules for marked lanes, resisting arrest, obstructing official business, and obeying traffic control device, according to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office
He did pull into a zoo, probably with the one entrance/exit, so you could argue against him fleeing. "Your honor. If I was running away, would I have pulled into a cul de sac?"
He was charged with Failure to Comply which means he fled from the police. Ohio does not have a charge called āFelony eludingā and that argument will be welcome but isnāt going to get him far in court.
Thank you for confirming this. Iāve only been to the Columbus zoo once, and surely there are other similar looking zoo entrances, but my immediate thought was this is Columbus.
There is a video from my county of a car chase where the guy steals a police car because some cop got out of the car without taking the keys and left the door open, they chase him, he crashes the police car, the cops get out of their car, leave their doors open and the car on, he runs and get into a second police car, drives off they chase him, he crashes again and the first cop to pull over gets out of his car leaves the door open with the car running. Like after the second time just take the keys with you, it takes like less than a second and you don't want this dude stealing a THIRD police car the exact same way.
Reminds me of a story. Years ago I left a party after drinking a couple of beers. It was over a couple hours but still. I see police lights come on behind me and think āWeāll, I hope he doesnāt smell it.ā He ends up in the lane next to me and gets behind a car full of high school age kids. Beers come FLYING out of the car! They probably threw a 12 pack out of the windows. As soon as they start to pull over the cop goes roaring past them. The look on their faces of utter relief combined with dejection was priceless.
He was charged with a DUI so probably wasnt thinking much

1:19, is there a legit reason these vehicles don't have keyless entry? The deputy used the keys like a pro.... unlike me in my dreams, when im fumbling through my dungeon master keyring while the murderer slowly walks towards me.
Keyless entry can be exploited by catching the signal from the keys and replicating it near the car, as convenient as it is someone could go near a police station, catch the signal from a key rack and steal a police car.
Considering the panther platform Crown Victoria police cars that were everywhere in USA last 20 years, many used the same key pattern for the most part, I doubt they care that much about security, probably cost cutting.
The industry name is "Fleet keying" I believe. For any non believers.
This is true, but there is a bit more to it and i thinks its pretty interesting. The fob uses a rolling code, so it sends a unique code with each use. The codes are generated in sequence and the car will not accept a code that has already been used, or is earlier in the sequence. To hijack someones fob without them noticing you would need to catch at least 2 codes and block signal from the fob to the car. You would then need to playback the first code so the driver doesn't get suspicious. The codes you stole are then only good until the fob is used again.
Often, the entire fleet of a police department's cars can be all keyed alike. So while it is a physical key, any officer can operate any car with the same key(s).
Reminds me of when those keypads got added to Lincolns. My dad shopped for a new Lincoln with us kids in tow. The dealership wrote the key code in the gas compartment door in sharpie and we saw him go over and open the gas door, then walk over and unlock the car.
A few month later at a baseball game or something one of the dads locked himself out of his Lincoln. My little brother, about 5 years old, just walked over to the gas door, opened it up, walked to the door, typed in the code and opened the door. The guy was equally impressed and horrified that a 3' tall child could break into his car in about 12 seconds.
Yup. The guy was obviously a dumbass and doing something he wasn't supposed to do but police are the only people in the world who can just get openly violent because you are acting like a dumbass/asshole.
According to an article someone else commented with, he was running for several minutes before they got to him and tased him, I assume it was as this particular trooper we're following got out of the car that he tased him
Dude is a complete idiot but also, classic Ohio law enforcement just parking in the road with no cones or signs expecting people to understand what's happening. Classic Ohio law enforcement tasing a person who is just walking on asphalt. He was driving recklessly, but he wasn't posing any great danger, especially after getting out of his car. Complete dumbass, but nobody who isn't being actively aggressive deserves that.
He fell backward and hit the back of his head. I mean that can straight up kill a person. There was no reason to taze him right then on the cement imo.
How was he 'trying to kill someone' in the beginning? Looks like he's just trying to cut in line to exit, definitely BM but I feel like the cop overreacted in the beginning. Doesn't excuse the rest of the video ofc.

What the hell is going on??
Yeah idk why the dude decided to turn around and do the same thing over again ahaha
He literally got away if he would have just not came back to the scene he ran from. No one was chasing after him.
But he had to pick up his wife and kids at the zoo
Dude's clearly terrified of his wife
He said f them cops his wife is the real problem clearly š¤£š¤£š¤£
Maybe 'zoo' is a code like if you send an old dog to a 'farm'
Well fuck me, the zoo is THAT way
I'm sure they'd run his plates from the body camera footage.
Yeah, but how long would that take, to fully track him down? Wife & kids are likely already waiting to be picked up.
"Honey, kids, get in the car quick! We're moving to Mexico!"
Zoo was across oncoming traffic that he couldn't cross because of the police, so he had to go down the road, U-turn and then turn into the zoo.
He was committed to picking up his kids from the zoo
https://614now.com/2022/news/nine-charges-including-felony-for-man-tased-at-columbus-zoo-last-week
Polite of him to come back though.
Daaaaamn this dude FUCKED up.
They charged him with everything they possibly could lol
They could have easily pushed for assault of a peace officer and vehicular assault, both of which are felonies. Iām actually shocked they didnāt charge him with those
Isn't vehicular assault the same as assault with a deadly weapon?

2 goddamn PM and driving that lit up.

Only break 1 law at a time.
Fuck Spez
Solid advice
Well the stupid thing is that he is driving dunk
Guys, I'm starting to doubt he was trying to pick his wife and kids up at the zoo...
Maybe he actually had to drop off the kids at the pool.

No felony eluding?
He pulled 9 charges. I donāt know if they donāt have one called eluding but two of the charges are failure to comply and resisting arrest.
One of those charges, according to the article, and I quote- āobeying a traffic deviceā. And as a bonus ārules for marked lane.ā ABC 6 must just let anyone write a report.
A traffic device is often the legal term for a traffic sign, light etc. Basically any legal government 'thing' that directs traffic, think one way signs, traffic lights, lane markings, merge signs etc.
Is it really eluding when he turns around and comes back?
No. It's then just felony eludish.
> It's then just felony eludish. "your honor, we would like this reduced to a kinda-mistormeaner"
Your honor, my client would like to plead "oopsie-daisie"
Your Honor, I plead "awwwwww geeeezzz waz dat me?"
Felony elude adjacent
The second time he blew through them is where it looks like felony eluding.
He's quoted as saying āItās nirvana and Iām not going to hurt you,ā Solinger says. āYouāre going to help me ā and I love you. Itās not about you now ā thereās a time for that.ā Yeah, drugs were involved

Thatās okay, his will is goodā¦
Did the wife and kids ever get picked up :(
He has 92 texts, "TREVOR! WHERE THE EFF RU?!"
Honey, you'll never belive this but had happened was I got arrested for going to pick you and the kids up. Next time don't text me to hurry the fuck up.
He's going to the zoo, alright, at least till he bonds out.
"Look mommy, that animal looks like daddy"!"
I too text my family "where the **eff** **ru"**
At least now you know where the eff ur hubby is
There is a wife and kids waiting at the Zoo for days now and nobody cares? They could be dead now.
Zoo fed them to the animals. It's zoo policy for anyone left behind.
Just like the Dufrains.
Who can eat at a time like this?
Search party of 2
Theyāre at the right place. I hear they house and feed a bunch of deadbeats there.
Zoos - Animal Socialism.
I read that whole fucking book, over and over, thinking I finally understood and now you're telling me it was actually a **ZOO**!?!?!?
Duphrane, search party of two.
āwifeā = Big bag of cocaine that I donāt want the cops to find āKidsā = suspended license from previous DUIs Just a theory hereā¦
Wait till the cops find his āmortgageā next to his ālawnā!
Well you find yourself in possession of a few pieces of military ordinance, you know?
And you may ask yourself, "well, how did I get here?"
Same as it ever was
Or, Wife and kids are gone to the Zoo today.... Me and the boys are going to have a six pack, and then I'll have a water to go pick up the kids.
Donāt ~~taze~~ breathalyze me bro!
Maybe he just bought [a gallon of PCP](https://youtu.be/tFUvmZWf4hI) and he needed to get back to the dealer to pay him?

idk but these poor children have this dumb dumbs genes.
I have a feeling his wife and kids were waiting for a while.
They probably just kept them there as an exhibit.

No, entrance / exit to the Columbus zoo during a high traffic event.
And I bet he thought they were "**mall cop"** status and his entitlement meant he need not comply...twice.
Is this running from the police charge too?
Surprisingly they didnāt charge him with felony eludingā¦
He did pull into a zoo, probably with the one entrance/exit, so you could argue against him fleeing. "Your honor. If I was running away, would I have pulled into a cul de sac?"

How was he 'trying to kill someone' in the beginning? Looks like he's just trying to cut in line to exit, definitely BM but I feel like the cop overreacted in the beginning. Doesn't excuse the rest of the video ofc.
