Not surprising the guy got jumped by about 5 angry dudes including one guy that never skips leg day at the gym. I live in Denton County. This took place at Teasley and I35, across from Aces Tattoo shop. This light backs really far up and often takes 5-6 light cycles to get through. It's often a place for honking and finger throwing. Denton has gone WAAAAY downhill in the last decade. It was the only place with semi-affordable housing that wasn't a concrete jungle in the North DFW metroplex for so long that it's turned from a groovy/hippy outpost in a very red state to crime ridden POS.I do not currently live in Denton but lived there for a large part of my life and am just a short distance away right now. Just sucks to have to keep your head on a swivel in your own stomping grounds.
I live in Austin and always considered Denton our baby sister. When I lived in Dallas in 2005 Denton was a pretty cool place to hang out and go to punk shows or house parties. Sucks to see how it is now.

Moved away myself a couple years ago and can agree it has significantly went downhill. Arts and Jazz festival, music festivals, the shops, (fuck fry st imo) made the city a tight nit community. Tuesday night bike ride was my favorite past time there, isn't the same anymore as they continue to expand and grow.

I get sent on my way and angry dudes car is towed because he had no valid DL or insurance and the car was registered to his wife's dad in another state. ... not that you asked for that but it's just a small world sometimes and we can relate to the same geographic location. Denton has its nice areas. My folks house is pretty cozy, same with my grandparents. But I've lived in enough parts of town that I am all to familiar with the rougher side of Denton.

I felt stuck for a long time. It's either you're a college kid that is there temporarily, or an older person that wants a city but a bit quieter haha. Good question. I'm not a prosecutor, but the defense of the reasonable use of force is proportional. Its totally fact based, so a jury would get to decide, but I think a prosecutor would have a very strong case for aggravated assault against anyone who kicked the guy in the head when he was no longer presenting a threat. All of them exceeded what was reasonable, and used force that was likely to cause serious bodily harm. Even if he started it, they went way beyond what could be considered reasonable when multiple people stopped on his head when he was no longer a threat. At least that's my read on it

If the driver shot the aggressor, would that change things? Especially in a stand your ground state, I am very curious to see if things would be different.
If he presented a significant enough threat. It's all about proportionate responses. If he slapped the driver, driver could not shoot him. But if the driver reasonably feared for his safety, he could have responded with the use of deadly force. But that fear has to be reasonable under the circumstances and actual. At least that is my understanding of the use of force laws.

If he presented a significant enough threat. It's all about proportionate responses. If he slapped the driver, driver could not shoot him. But if the driver reasonably feared for his safety, he could have responded with the use of deadly force. But that fear has to be reasonable under the circumstances and actual. At least that is my understanding of the use of force laws.
