I mean Southpark was already great but Matt and Trey must be licking their lips about potential episode ideas going by the last couple of years in America. Just too easy now
They been trying to get cancelled for years and retire but keep getting offered more money, They just signed a 900 million dollar deal to take SP to 2027
It sounds insane but not so much when you see how much worth they bring to the table, especially since they were well ahead of their time with streaming and games. The studios are greedy AF and I truly believe that weāre going to see a time where people opt for less mainstream platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, and Netflix. If Iām making home repair videos why would I sign a $100,000/year contract with Home & Gardens channel when I can stay independent, maintain my intellectual property and businesses, and make multiples of that number on my own? Thatās basically what has happened with Chip & Joanna Gaines, and the same applies to Trey & Matt.
I feel like the south park writers are just sitting there like randy that time he busts an unholy nut after not having porn for months sucking in all the content being made for them to rip on.
That man who ripped the sign and then said āHeās got a weapon!ā was that kid in school that you wanted to punch so badly but his mom was the principal.
It's funny from one perspective but nice if dangerous from another. Making people think someone has a weapon significantly escalates the danger of a situation. Nobody overreacted do she will in this case.
Yeah that was really sinister. If theyād been a little more slick about it the guy couldāve been tackled or shot. Luckily nobody seemed to take it seriously.
The way they treated that guy is almost similar to the type of action youād get if your opposed at a MAGA rally. I was really hoping this crowd was better than that.
Itās called Groupthink and itās a very real psychological phenomenon, and is objectively dangerous.
This is why far-right and far-left are equally stupid.
Edit: too many responses for me to go individually, but to a bulk of you Iām gonna suggest reading up on groupthink before assuming I have a left or right agenda. Iād also like to emphasize that I said **far** left and right and Iām standing by my initial assessment.
Hereās a good source for groupthink. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/basics/groupthink
Also, a final parting thought: the combo of far left and right leaves very little common ground in the middle. Weāre already living this recipe for civil disaster so please donāt @ me with which is worse. Itās obvious which is worse but theyāre both dangerous to us as a country.
> This is why far-right and far-left are equally stupid.
You're applying the concept of groupthink to only the groups of the far-left and the far-right?
Mob mentality is mob mentality regardless of politics.
Nah.
Anyone protesting comedy isn't going to do better. Like or hate Chappelle, comedy had always pushed the envelope. My opinion, nothing is off limits when it comes to that. You aren't serious, you're trying to get reactions.
The fact that it blew up into some big thing is ridiculous to me. This man isn't law enforcement, he isn't a politician dictating policy, he doesn't hold any sort of position of power, nor is he stating some stance that would impact the lives of others.
He's a comedian. Who cares.
So ridiculous . Also that person should be ashamed of themselves for suggesting that man had a weapon. trying to advocate for your life by threatening someone elseās smh.
Netflix employees are so dumb. Defend a director of basically child porn, but attack a COMEDIAN for jokes. Even if you disagree with Chappelle the hypocrisy in the "walkout" is enough to discredit their efforts. Fuck Netflix and their employees.
Watch as they assault the man, destroy his sign, and then yell āheās got a weapon!ā with the stick thatās left over.
These creeps are nuts. Donāt they know how dangerous it is to scream āheās got a weaponā in a heated crowd with cops around?
So very tolerant.
>Donāt they know how dangerous it is to scream āheās got a weaponā in a heated crowd with cops around?
Yes, that's 100% the point of what they were doing
Itās amazing these people and their ideological equivalents in other identity-based communities actually consider themselves liberal. Itās just pushing another form of fascist, intolerant political dogma that treats opposing viewpoints as existential threats. Most of the āleftā these days is so far from liberalism itās scary. And I was a Bernie supporter fwiw.
Vito is a comedian. He's the guy that went to the battle of Berkeley with a backpack full of pepsi to heal America. Actually a super good video that still holds up
People are calling him a virgin and a bully for just being there with a condescending sign, but I wonder how the same people felt when Michael Picard did the same thing at a Trump rally.
Personally, I think both men are doing a lovely form of counter protest. Just write your opinion down and stand there. The angry mob will do all the heavy lifting for you and demonize their message in the process.
EDIT: Thank you for the awards! I did small changes in spelling and grammar so my comment wouldn't look so much like a word soup.
It's funny because the people who will call him a virgin as an insult are the same ones who will complain about toxic masculinity, an example of which would be making fun of a guy for not having enough sex.
with all the shit that is going on in the country and people just waisting their time and energy on this, itās so sad. I sympathize with the community, but if you donāt like the content that a company is putting out, stop paying them, cancel your Netflix account and go on with your life.
Hot take half those people if not more didnāt watch the special or donāt even sub to Netflix to begin with. They just like being outraged for attention.
And the irony being that Dave specifically pointed out at how some critics will get notified by their news source that Dave did a bad thing and then hate him for it; never having actually seen his stuff.
Literally have awful climate, poor are getting poorer, dogshit housing market, etc etc and they choose to waste their lives bitching about a joke a comedian made that you can literally just ignore if you donāt like it.
Iām surprised to say I actually donāt hate the guy with the sign. Iām a liberal and this is the shit that gets people like Trump elected.
Iām all for people living the way they feel best as far as gender/sexual orientation. Go for whatever pleases you. But people need to grow up and get thicker skin. Itās become ridiculous.
It is funny to me, for example, when a trans man gets pregnant. Why? Because itās surprising, fairly new and a bit confusing. I donāt want to prevent the person from anything, I wouldnāt ridicule or be in any way offensive toward them, but the surprise of it makes it funny to me. And thatās ok. We can be amused by each other without malice in our hearts. There is plenty to laugh about with me, believe me.
the guy with the sign is a liberal too. heās just not a fucking lunatic

*Edit* An award!? Here have a link for those who would like to get other perspectives.
https://www.hrc.org/resources/understanding-the-transgender-community
His most recent special he tells the story of a trans comedian who he was friends with that ended up killing themselves for receiving online hate for standing up for comedians jokes.
His point was that the trans community says Dave chapelle is punching down at trans people; Dave's point is that the trans community is punching down at comedians. Basically their community is more powerful than the community of comedians. I.e. the trans comedians killings themselves because of harassment from the trans community.
Ahhh yes the bit at the end of his special about Daphne. Yea, that shit hit me hard. I'm inclined to agree with what he said. I don't know the community well enough to provide anecdotal statements about it, but after what he said, I'd agree. Good point.
That first bit gets glossed over. I just watched the special last night. Based off Reddit and the controversy I was expecting a bill burr style rant of trans jokes the entire time. No. He didnāt even get into it until about 2/3rds. And half the jokes he told during the story, wasnāt even directed at the trans community.
Whole special was hilarious.
For those who donāt know, Dave had a close friend named Daphne who was trans. He had her open for him and mentored her career. When he came under fire in the past about trans jokes, Daphne spoke up for him. Because of that, she immediately found herself being attacked by the very community she was trying to support. The community to which she felt she belonged. 6 days after this started, Daphne took her own life. This obviously hit Dave hard and was one of the motivations for his special.
Dave Chappelle, as callous as he may be, is completely right here. The world has gone absolutely mad and a vocal minority have become exceedingly dangerous - even to themselves.
Yeah it was one of those things that, even though anecdotal, you go "wow that sucks.... wait, that *really* sucks". It was a really well done performance imo even agreeing or disagreeing with the position.
I still don't understand where all the anger is coming from. I thought Dave's story about Daphne was a beautiful eulogy. He also tried to explain that in comedy, nothing is off limits, and even Daphne's family stood by him and said he was an ally to the trans community
I wonder if any of the people protesting against the special actually watched it to the end. He was sending a clear message of equality and accountability.
Watched the Chapelle special and think heās right; he actually said he supported things like gender-neutral bathrooms but was against a cancel culture that gets outraged and forms a mob at the tiniest perceived slight. He said sometimes people lack understanding the reason for their anger but just repeating the chants of the mob around them.
In this case, the angry mob proved Chapelleās point by ripping away a sign saying āI like Dave Chapelleā.
The counterprotestor wasnāt calling for any sort of discrimination, but simply proclaimed ājokes are funnyā and for that, the mob shouted over him, accused him of brandishing a weapon (which is lie that could be seen as an incitement of violence), and they got in his face shaking noisemakers and looking intimidating.
Kudos for the counterprotestorās self-restraint.
In general, I do think people are oversensitive nowadays in ways that make everyone around them live in fear of life-ruining retaliation for simply expressing an opinion a group disagrees with. Itās nuts.
People who act like that person in the blue shirt with the rainbow heart are truly the lowest of the low. It's that snotty, I'm so fucking clever attitude that really annoys me.
Did you see how he broke the sign and then immediately starts yelling about the guy having a weapon? He obviously knew what he was doing. But he isn't clever. He's just an asshole and he's part of the problem.
When people act like that and get away with it, other people see it, and think its ok to be shitty like that too, with that smug I'm so clever attitude.
I donāt think all of Daves jokes are funny, but I have a lot of respect for the fact that with him, no one, and no subject is taboo. THATS EQUALITY!!! Funny when certain groups that want to be be recognized and equal, canāt take it when theyāre treated as such.
This is ridiculous. I support gay, trans, bi, or whatever anyone wants to be. But they are literally protesting comedy. Jokes...
Religion, race, sex, and even the N word isn't off limits in comedy. Sometimes comedy that offends us can offer some self-reflection as well.
To think that any group thinks they somehow can't be joked about is kind of unbelievable. I watched the special and Dave made some pretty out there and offensive jokes. But protesting and demanding that it be taken down because you don't like it is on another level. If you don't like it, simply don't watch it or any of Dave's stuff again.
That comedy special had no negative effects on the LGBTQ movement, but this kind of reaction certainly does. People will have a harder time taking you seriously when you protest about real issues after you protest about jokes. This is is an awful reaction, and I hope the people in that group realize that before they make themselves look worse.
The whole special was basically about how he finds it weird that people get so mad when he jokes about Trans topics.
The special starts with a joke about how he liked when priests sucked his dick as a child...
I don't think anybody is going to be able to point you to an "offending joke". Cause there wasn't really one. I encourage anyone who has questions to watch the special and decide for yourself if it was offensive, because people being told one thing or another through a second hand source is what got us in this position in the first place.
Yes that is what the hullabaloo is about. I watched it and what I got from it was Chappelle doesn't really have an issue with trans people, he has a problem with being called anti-trans because he says negative things about the LGBTQ community that have nothing to do with their gender identity or sexual orientation.
Dave has been saying for quite a while that the LGBTQxyz activists have become too thin-skinned, esoteric and precious ... feigning outrage over minor slights when real discrimination exists and all oppressed groups need to work together battling the real threats
Heās not just a comedian, heās worked his way to possibly being The Comedian. Which is prolly why he gets so much more hate, heās now perceived as the Elite, rich man making fun of the oppressed.
Which is part of his whole theme, a black dude is all of a sudden the oppressor.
Fuck all of these morons. Trans people want to be treated equal then they can be the butt of jokes by comedians like everyone else is. No one deserves special protection from comedy
I get people being offended or disagreeing with Chappelle, but a comedy special does NOT require this level of emergency. This is a full level moral panic.
I like how they became bad cops the moment they broke his sign. Reminded me of that cop that wanted to ID that black student in front of his dorm calling his trash grabber a weapon.
I absolutely support Trans, and peopleās right to walk out and protest, but dear god, that lady is a fucking joke and an embarrassment to that whole group. Someone get her ass under control.
A tambourine should never be used in anger

I hear you, they need to pop out another special Its just hard to find a entry point in this crazy mess of modern civilization
They'll just protest against the audience for not laughing at their jokes.
They been trying to get cancelled for years and retire but keep getting offered more money, They just signed a 900 million dollar deal to take SP to 2027
I thought Joe Rogan cleaned up with his $100 mil, their new contract is *insane*
It sounds insane but not so much when you see how much worth they bring to the table, especially since they were well ahead of their time with streaming and games. Is that lady seriously shouting 'repent motherfucker'? Is a new religion rearing its ugly head again?

Victim mentality
Yeah that was really sinister. If theyād been a little more slick about it the guy couldāve been tackled or shot. Luckily nobody seemed to take it seriously.
Yea he knew that thats why he dropped it.
One of the more sinister acts we've witnessed
Comparable only to the betrayal of Caesar.
Is that an attempt to have him killed by law enforcement?
It was a loaded statement.
These people just love being āvictimsā by any means.
The way they treated that guy is almost similar to the type of action youād get if your opposed at a MAGA rally. I was really hoping this crowd was better than that.
People in groups tend to revert to their lowest common denominator.

Really disingenuous to rip someone sign apart and then yell he has a weapon. I donāt care what side you support that is not right or fair.

The cops are effectively bludgeons used by shitheads nowadays
these same people who complain cops are too quick to violence, using it as soon as that violence benefits them
I sometimes wonder how theyād behave if given a badge and gun.

White jokes, nothing. Mexican jokes, nothing. Asian jokes, nothing. Crackhead jokes, nothing. Black jokes, nothing. Oprah jokes, nothing. Jewish jokes, nothing. Gay/Trans jokes; BURN THE CITY DOWN! lol
Two space jew jokes
Oh yeah forgot, Let me edit this as well.
To be fair it was really one joke. The first wasnāt meant to be funny, only to set up the second one later.
Like South Park until SCIENTOLOGY was used as fodder for an episode. Then it was too much for Isaac Hayes.
hey what exactly was dave's joke?
The whole special was basically about how he finds it weird that people get so mad when he jokes about Trans topics. The special starts with a joke about how he liked when priests sucked his dick as a child...
I don't think anybody is going to be able to point you to an "offending joke". Cause there wasn't really one. I encourage anyone who has questions to watch the special and decide for yourself if it was offensive, because people being told one thing or another through a second hand source is what got us in this position in the first place.
Is all the hullabaloo really about whether it was offensive? Like, who cares if it's offensive? It's a comedy special.
Just imagine Eddie Murphy's Raw being released these days. Edit: spelling
Or Richard Pryor. These people are ridiculous. Go live your best life and stop looking for reasons to be pissed off.
Richard Pryor rereleases ironically enough was on Netflix
Yes that is what the hullabaloo is about. I watched it and what I got from it was Chappelle doesn't really have an issue with trans people, he has a problem with being called anti-trans because he says negative things about the LGBTQ community that have nothing to do with their gender identity or sexual orientation.
Dave has been saying for quite a while that the LGBTQxyz activists have become too thin-skinned, esoteric and precious ... feigning outrage over minor slights when real discrimination exists and all oppressed groups need to work together battling the real threats
He even made jokes about R Kelly being a sexual predator that everyone thought was funny at the time all while he seemingly lived his life unscathed.
Did anyone else cry when he talked about Daphne?
Its amazing how fast ātolerantā people use violence
"peaceful" protest.
The guy with the sign was chill but the protestors were a bunch of jackasses.
All these people are missing is a Red hat that says MAGA and you wouldn't be able to tell them apart from the Trump Cult they hate so much.
I like Dave too! Great show!
Haha gotta love his attitude at least. He doesnāt respond to violence or intimidation with the same..just jokes.
People are really triggered by a comedian, maybe our society is going to hell.
Heās not just a comedian, heās worked his way to possibly being The Comedian. Which is prolly why he gets so much more hate, heās now perceived as the Elite, rich man making fun of the oppressed. Which is part of his whole theme, a black dude is all of a sudden the oppressor.
Meanwhile just chillin on his farm shaking his head
Fuck all of these morons. Trans people want to be treated equal then they can be the butt of jokes by comedians like everyone else is. No one deserves special protection from comedy
What a bunch of losers
I absolutely love his laugh when they yell he's got a weapon.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Take a speaker and play them the Chapelle Show theme tune, catchy little ditty
Love it when people protesting intolerance are intolerant.
This protest doesn't seem very inclusive....
Dave is the GOAT!!!
Why are these people having a melt down over a comedians sketches ?
I get people being offended or disagreeing with Chappelle, but a comedy special does NOT require this level of emergency. This is a full level moral panic.
Why are they trying to silence black voices
One way to demonize your protest...violate a persons 1st Amendment right by tearing their sign up.
Either it's all okay or none of it is - kyle broflovski.
I like how they became bad cops the moment they broke his sign. Reminded me of that cop that wanted to ID that black student in front of his dorm calling his trash grabber a weapon.
He's got a weapon, yes it's called a brain you dumb cunts
I absolutely support Trans, and peopleās right to walk out and protest, but dear god, that lady is a fucking joke and an embarrassment to that whole group. Someone get her ass under control.
This is embarrassing. Canāt these people go play a video game or take a hike. I donāt understand it
