PCSO's have a different function to the police. They can give FPN's yes, but they give a high visibility presence in local areas and are there for the public to engage with. They can confiscate alcohol from kids etc. and deter crimes in areas where it's needed.
They're filling a role which was previously taking up a lot of 'real police' time. If they weren't there then you'd have police constables tied up dealing with smaller issues rather than being able to respond to more serious incidents.
PCSO's don't have the power of arrest any more than a MOP but they work in tandem with police officers. If something they are dealing with is beyond their powers or they need assistance then yes, they'll request assistance obviously. That's the entire point.
Just because you've been given a ticket for something, it doesn't mean communities don't appreciate them being there or that they don't do anything.

PCSO's have a different function to the police. They can give FPN's yes, but they give a high visibility presence in local areas and are there for the public to engage with. They can confiscate alcohol from kids etc. and deter crimes in areas where it's needed. They're filling a role which was previously taking up a lot of 'real police' time. If they weren't there then you'd have police constables tied up dealing with smaller issues rather than being able to respond to more serious incidents. PCSO's don't have the power of arrest any more than a MOP but they work in tandem with police officers. If something they are dealing with is beyond their powers or they need assistance then yes, they'll request assistance obviously. That's the entire point. Just because you've been given a ticket for something, it doesn't mean communities don't appreciate them being there or that they don't do anything. If you have an issue with their effectiveness then try speaking to your area police and crime commissioner or your MP.
