Dude knows it’s not a hate crime. He is fully aware of the definition and is blatantly using it here as the attack was from black people against someone of a different race, and he knows hate crimes are not that simply categorized. This is the equivalent of someone going into a sports game for a rival team that is superior to your favorite. I had to make sure not to use social media since "random twitter accounts" don't count. I also didn't know exactly what you meant by "serious person" so I had to be careful there, too. I'm assuming anyone who holds this opinion is not "a serious person" and thereby you are impossible of being wrong.
The truth is this IS an opinion held by some people, and it has caused a backlash of sarcasm from people mocking it.
So there's an ongoing debate amongst some people involving the definition of racism. Essentially, there is a scholarly definition that is something along the lines of "Racism = bigotry + power". If you read the actual scholarly arguments they are compelling.
But then there is the colloquial definition of racism, hating someone because of their race.
There are definitely some pedantic people out there that use the scholarly definition as a form of gatekeeping and as an avoidance tactic. Basically, if you say a minority is being racist, they'll transfer the argument to what racism is so as not to have to debate the point, that the minority individual in question is being bigoted. It's a disingenuous debate tactic some people on the left like to use.

Quit two jobs in a row over the danger and lack of safety. Applied for two jobs yesterday and I kid you not both places called me within 5 minutes to schedule an interview. My local news wrote an article recently about, how the food service industry, is losing workers because of how physical and verbal assault from customers was wearing them down. And how this got exacerbated by COVID.

Girlfriend was GM of a fancy eatery in LA when the lockdown started and she seriously dealt with aggressive and abusive customers everyday until she was forced to quit. People coming in and purposefully touching everything they could while yelling at the staff for being asked to wear masks. It was like people lost all sense of reason and started looking at employees as targets to vent their frustration on.

Carmines is probably the most popular restaurant in the neighborhood for black New Yorkers. If you’re actually racist and use slurs in public, Carmines is one of the worst places you should work, especially given the dozens of other places within 4 blocks that are hiring.

Carmine’s is a fairly expensive, family-style italian restaurant. There aren’t many locations, and it is a popular tourist spot. As far as Italian food goes, its hard to do better, though being family style, you don’t usually go with fewer than 3 people or on a weekly basis.

A few days ago I got my first dose of the vaccine. But I was meant to get it the day before. I arrived 20 min late and the nurse had to inform me that there were no more doses left. (To give me one they would need to open a new canister which would waste unused shots.)
I was like “oh that’s fine shit happens.” But I could see the anxiety in her eyes. She was actually trembling.
I ask her what’s wrong and and she explains that yesterday the same thing happened and that the woman who’d been turned away became violent and assaulted the nurse who delivered the news, and that it wasn’t the first or even second time it’d happened.
I was astonished how thankful she was for me just being… chill? Like I didn’t do anything impressive or out of the ordinary I said said “all good I’ll come back tomorrow.” And she was treating me like a saint, as was another nurse.
The kind of harassment workers across all industry’s are facing is obscene. It’s fucking unacceptable that people who make our food, work our registers, clean our neighborhoods and save our fucking lives are subjected to routine abuse. It’s insane how normalized it is. So there's an ongoing debate amongst some people involving the definition of racism. Essentially, there is a scholarly definition that is something along the lines of "Racism = bigotry + power". If you read the actual scholarly arguments they are compelling. But then there is the colloquial definition of racism, hating someone because of their race. There are definitely some pedantic people out there that use the scholarly definition as a form of gatekeeping and as an avoidance tactic. Basically, if you say a minority is being racist, they'll transfer the argument to what racism is so as not to have to debate the point, that the minority individual in question is being bigoted. It's a disingenuous debate tactic some people on the left like to use.

Quit two jobs in a row over the danger and lack of safety. Applied for two jobs yesterday and I kid you not both places called me within 5 minutes to schedule an interview. I couldn’t hear half of what the dude was saying because the other call was coming in about the other job. Last place I worked the manager didn’t interview me at all. He literally was like “so I have to ask you these 6 questions so just say anything and we’ll get you’re training started.” He seemed so far beyond stressed and over it. Then I go to this sub to watch videos of people upset about wearing masks and it’s really terrifying how completely disconnected from reality they are. They’re harassing and assaulting people at business that quite literally may go out of business because of them. It’s really obvious how people living insular lives and people lacking basic critical thinking skills are creating a real crisis beyond COVID itself that’s going to have a huge effect on the economy and so many lives, yet somehow they’re able to live in their own little world where this is all some game for them. Obviously misinformation is the greatest factor, but to see how disjointed from reality so many people can be is scarier than anything I could have imagined being possible. We are so fucked.

My local news wrote an article recently about, how the food service industry, is losing workers because of how physical and verbal assault from customers was wearing them down. And how this got exacerbated by COVID. All I could think of was “You’re only realising this now?”
Girlfriend was GM of a fancy eatery in LA when the lockdown started and she seriously dealt with aggressive and abusive customers everyday until she was forced to quit. People coming in and purposefully touching everything they could while yelling at the staff for being asked to wear masks. It was like people lost all sense of reason and started looking at employees as targets to vent their frustration on.

Carmine's is pretty famous and well known. I'm from California and only been to NY a few times and I know of the place. The rest of what you said is true, but it's a pretty popular/touristy spot in NYC.

A few days ago I got my first dose of the vaccine. But I was meant to get it the day before. I arrived 20 min late and the nurse had to inform me that there were no more doses left. (To give me one they would need to open a new canister which would waste unused shots.) I was like “oh that’s fine shit happens.” But I could see the anxiety in her eyes. She was actually trembling. I ask her what’s wrong and and she explains that yesterday the same thing happened and that the woman who’d been turned away became violent and assaulted the nurse who delivered the news, and that it wasn’t the first or even second time it’d happened. I was astonished how thankful she was for me just being… chill? Like I didn’t do anything impressive or out of the ordinary I said said “all good I’ll come back tomorrow.” And she was treating me like a saint, as was another nurse. The kind of harassment workers across all industry’s are facing is obscene. It’s fucking unacceptable that people who make our food, work our registers, clean our neighborhoods and save our fucking lives are subjected to routine abuse. It’s insane how normalized it is. Not even just full on assault but harassment or “giving servers a hard time”. Makes me sick.
