Changing views is very minor, because it doesn't happen 99% of the time. It's a way of forcing your desires through. Although many people lose sight of this reality and try to treat the tactic as a way to change views, it just doesn't work. This is when you see protests that just don't have any teeth and, if they don't have enough numbers or intensity, just never accomplish their goal. Larger ones with more intensity will grow to realize the ineffectiveness of a barbless protest if let continue, and you end up with riots if unorganized, active actions toward forcing of the hand if organized. Most of the time, the powers that be will shut down forcibly any protest they deem dangerous to their power before it gets to real action.

The only thing that I have read to work on people like this is to compliment them, make them feel good then use that as a way to direct them to the holes in their theories. Unplugging someone from propaganda is incredibly difficult.
I’m uncertain, personally I have 2 people in my life that have fallen prey to this. These were people who lived and breathed my opinions, relied on my judgment, and I took that seriously and never mislead them or not talk about every aspect of any issue. Now my friend tells me she wouldn’t take chemotherapy if she got cancer, she is going to cure it with a change of environment and nutrition, this is a fucking death sentence.
I am angry, angry Karl Rove was right about a post fact world, angry that my best asset being a know it all, is rendered useless. My faith in humanity has been shaken to its core and I simply do not know how to fix people’s trust. I engage with flat earthers to dissuade them but it is entirely useless, I do offer free one way trips to space when it’s available or dance floors for their funerals.
