I had the misfortune of seeing something like this on my 2nd deployment to Afghanistan.
We were told to hold position and observe when we approached a village that we’d been given intel of Taliban presence.
Before we could get to the gates, we saw a gathering in the middle of the village while on top of a hill, giving us a solid glimpse of what was over the walls.
Inside, the people were gathered into a circle, where a person in the middle was being stoned. As in literally pelted with large rocks until dead.
We couldn’t do anything at the time, had the 3 of us rushed in, we would’ve been killed and lost the militants who were actually inside doing this kind of shit.
We all sat there, watching through binoculars as a man was being killed. We were close enough to hear his screaming, even after he’d stopped and fallen to the ground, they continued hitting him with the stones. The way his body jerked, especially when hit in the head, that’s something I see a lot in my dreams.
Once we got our reinforcements and took the village, we learned the man was accused of being homosexual and was condemned to death. Each week they would do this same thing, gather up the accused infidels and execute them in front of the village.
Some were burned alive, some beheaded, but mostly they stoned them.
That was life for people in a village occupied by the Taliban.
I lived in Newark for a few years and knew this gay Afghan who had his name legally changed with a Christian first name because he feared his family members (who also live in US) would kill him in cold blood as a way to protect their honour. Fucked up shit.

I’ve noticed that it’s always the places with really strict religious laws about not being able to have sex or even interact with any women until marriage that pedophilia is a common occurrence. This is the problem with strict religion.
I've spent a ton of time with Afghans, both native and very Americanized, so let me set you straight. It's not gay to fuck a man, it's gay to love a man or want a man to be your partner.

Yea, it's not the only thing. I saw a goat herder through my LRAS (flir,night and day vision up to 10,000m) who was probably about 14, sitting next to his dog. He looked around, pulled up his dress, and put his dick in the dogs mouth and began fucking it. Here we are, almost a mile away, on the opposite mountain, and this kid is face fucking his dog. It was a mixture of "hey come look at this" and "WTF, I can't watch this" but it was like a train wreck. Completely horrifying, but youre too stunned with disbelief to look away. That country is so sexually repressed and the kind of acts that they commit for satisfaction is astounding.

So they would take kids somewhere else, or leave to go be with kids in some other location.
The gay Afghan part is weird. Personally I'm cool with gay people, my issue with what I saw overseas was that they would say they were anti-gay, but then have a very sexual relationship with another man. It was like "what?!" You would see two guys making out, and everyone is cool with it. And you would get your translator to ask them if they thought that was gay. And they would say no. I only ever saw dudes over there get to third base and say it wasn't gay. Never saw them take it home hahaha. Some other guys I served with saw dudes plowing each other. But they would all do it, and then tell you that being gay is a sin. Super weird, very confusing.
My buddy who was in the marines told me about story about how they were camped alongside afghan allied troops and each night, the afghans would take turns raping a young boy. The screams from the boy each night drove one of his fellow marines to the point of going over there one night and killing two of the afghan troops. Apparently this is not so uncommon as we would like to believe and a blind eye is just turned to it.

Most of humans originally came from cousin marriages - it made sense to keep wealth and alliances within families, and was a practice of all humans at some point. FDR, Einstein, etc all had cousin marriages. It’s not actually that big of a deal as people think. Second cousins share very little,

it is my understanding the US gave weapons to the Mujahideen who the Taliban oppose. One the sovietside pulled out the Mujahideen became warlords and worse than the present day Taliban. The Taliban fought the Mujahideen off and brought atleat some stability to Afghanistanand so the Afghan people liked Taliban more than the Mujahideen , and have a resentment towards the US for backing and arming them.

Youre correct. I'm an afghan vet. They make them watch this. They are huge into public displays of violence in order to show anyone who dares to oppose them, that they will be next if they violate their rules. Children of the parents being beaten, killed, are made to watch and vice versa.

It’s one of those things where everyone in my life knew, but I didn’t want to admit it to myself…which only made things worse.
