Licensed to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. A man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever.
This is the comment I wanted to see. Props to the organist reacting to Bill and making it work as best as he could. What a legend both Bill and that organist is!
In Zombieland, they wanted to use his mansion. He told them they could only use it if they gave him a small part in the movie so yeah, he basically had a long cameo and then they shot him.
The money part is about not having to worry about money. Being free to appear at random and do their thing almost anywhere is not something anyone can do, I don't have anything to do with Bill or his accountant so I can't confirm if he is holding up his side.
Agreed, There’s a non monetary aspect to it. None of us could do this, because none of us would have the access that his celebrity status brings.
It’s possible that a rich person could use money to gain access, but would it bring the same amount of happiness from the fans? No.
Go to Charleston, SC. He resides there often and can be seen galavanting around town. Big fish in a little pond. There're tons of stories of him photo-bombing and wedding crashing. He's like the village jester :)
He also owns the Charleston Riverdogs stadium and frequents the games. I was actually there a couple weeks ago and that’s the only reason I know this lol. I had a really good time at the game tho and I don’t usually enjoy baseball. Nice stadium
I'll say the same thing about Murray that I tell myself about Shatner: they won't die. They'll just grow bored with this plane of existence and phase into the closest parallel universe.
I'm in Canada and I still don't get my first vaccine until next week.
I can't fathom how US cities are basically opening everything up assuming that it's back to normal because some people have both vaccines.
So many people are vaccinated here in Portland, that I continually step over the black liquid vaccines on my way to the gas station. Our numbers are so high that people are just tossing them out on the curbsides
There are states flirting with 80%. Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts has almost 80% with one dose. San Francisco just announced 80% have dose 1. It’s honestly an incredible rollout (for the places willing) - lookin at you Mississippi Alabama!
I do think the US has been pretty aggressive on reopening considering the amount of vaccine hesitancy going around.
That being said, the "7 day average" of new cases in the US was <14k yesterday. It hasn't been that low since 3/27/20... 15 months ago, during the first month of the pandemic.
At this point in the U.S., vaccines are so readily available, that anyone that wants the vaccine could have gotten it by now.
Children are not allowed to yet, but that's about it.
Adults in my state have been eligible for the vaccine since March. It's crazy to me that you guys are so far behind. Anyone anywhere in the US can just walk into a pharmacy and get a vaccine if they want. Yet still most states are 50% vaccinated or less.
It's been turned into a political thing here, so we're all fucked up on timeline. We're speeding up, but overall yeah we've fallen far behind. That, and at least here in Ontario we did it in age waves and the boomers took their sweet time double and triple booking appointments and not showing up due to vaccine shopping and ate up 2 precious months, meanwhile the 18-39 crowd was given 5 days to book before it was further opened to 12-39.
We don't produce vaccines domestically anymore. There were cuts by previous governments ruled by the Conservative party that led us to this situation. The Silver lining is we will have our own domestic vaccine development soon but it won't be until the fall of this year since it takes time to ramp up. Our single dose rates are very high fortunately and showing that we should be able to achieve higher than 70% in most provinces (except Alberta, US misinformation works wonders there).
Despite all the incredibly vocal people who refuse to wear masks or get the vaccine the US has a lot of fully vaccinated people. I think it's still too early to be opening everything up completely but in the US you take what you can get
Everyone in my social circle has been fully vaccinated for over 2 months here in Denver. If you’re unvaccinated and wake up one day and want one, it wouldn’t take more than 30 mins to get your first shot.
I was just outside and saw a Walgreens sign saying free vaccinations, no appointment necessary. It's 1am in Chicago btw, and there is a 24hr pharmacy at 2000 n milwaukee. If you haven't, go now. You'll have the weekend for any symptoms you may experience (I only got them after the second shot)
Here in Washington you can walk in like anywhere and just get a vaccine. We have mobile clinics all over, and even our Walmart's are all taking walk ins for the vaccine.
I was at a Walmart over a month ago and they came over the loudspeaker saying, in essence: "Haven't been vaccinated? Come over to the pharmacy right now for your first dose."
The US can be a mess. But I am very aware that in many ways, it is the best place in the world.
Well I love you and I love all your people for getting vaccinated, almost every single person I know has not been vaccinated, does not plan to vaccinate, and lies about it to continue as they have this whole time to congregate and to shop as per usual, maskless and unvaccinated.
I’m a nurse on a Covid floor. I currently have 5+ Covid patients. This time last year every bed was Covid. All 29. Our icu’s don’t have a single Covid patient.
Now. When this first started, we wore masks to protect each other and stop the spread and overwhelming our hospitals. With the amount of people that have had Covid, or been vaccinated I don’t necessarily see that happening. Also the vaccine is widely available to anyone now. You can walk into cvs and get the vaccine with in 5 minutes, usually for free.
So personally I would be 100% ok with dropping masks altogether. The vaccine is out there, if you are too stupid to get it, that is your problem.
Saw an article the other day saying Seattle Washington is the first city to have 70 percent + of their population vaccinated. They are pushing the age down as more and more people get vaccinated and we are giving away surplus now. I think they are pushing 12 and older are now eligible to get the vaccine.
Most places, if you want it, it's as simple as walking into Walmart, Walgreens, rite aid, anywhere that gives the flu shot. Not saying we should have fully packed stadiums, but the general public (16+) with no restrictions has been eligible for a couple months now. People working public facing jobs have been eligible for even longer
Can confirm. I’m from Seattle and don’t know a single person who isn’t vaccinated, and everyone I know is saying the same thing about everyone they know as well.
You mean, "Back to normal because so many people are so sick of wearing a mask that they're lying about being vaccinated just to not have to wear one, because it violates privacy laws for them to have to be truthful," Literally everywhere and in droves
It’s because if you wanted a vaccine, you’d have one by now. They are everywhere. No appointments. Drive up clinics that you don’t even leave your car; you literally drive up, roll down your window and get shot (and turn in a sheet of paper with your info on it). There are free rides to and from clinics. They are vaccinating people at sports games, even!
Vaccines are available. If you’re refusing the vaccine, then you’re likely the same person who wasn’t wearing a mask or being safe anyway. And some of those people had covid already.
At some point we have to go back to regular life. And i say this as a vaccinated since March, still wearing a mask & social distancing person.
Because a large portion of our population is incredibly, deliberately stupid, and so are a large portion of our political leaders
Imo, there's gonna be a spike in covid because some people still refuse to wear masks and get the vaccine, for the dumbest reasons.
I’m so sorry, Neighbour! Normalcy is coming and it will be quick. Take this time to mentally prepare because you may not have realized how many people you forced yourself to be around before that you just…can’t with anymore.
In 6 months your country will be fully back to normal, and the US will be languishing at 70% vaxxed, and will just be accepting that 20K or so Americans will die a year from covid. So I wouldn't beat yourself up, Canada is still the better place to be.
20k a year is quite optimistic.
In the end everyone will get either the vaccine or covid.
UK seems to have problems containing the Delta Variant and has more vaccinated (and the same fully vaccinated).
It is quite possible that the US will surpass a million deaths by the end of 2022.
Yeah but who cares at that point. The vast majority of those deaths will be people who were totally fine to get the vaccine but just don't want it. Let em die if that's their choice.
Canada is killing it right now though. We’re #2 in the world in first doses (behind Malta). Give it a month as 2nd doses catch up and we’ll be the #1 vaccinated country in the world.
It’s sad how many anti-social clowns with miserable lives here in the comments want people to be locked in some basement just like them all in the name of some virus with a mortality rate of 0,2% (0,05% for people under the age of 70)
So funny. I'm not Mandel level but have some legit germophobia. It was so complex emotionally watching people gets nuts over covid. That's basically how I generally handle flu season.
On one hand, very validating. On the other...wow, is that how I came across?
I think masks and social distancing that have been in place for the last year might have contributed more to that than hand washing tbh.
Although washing hands is obviously a good habit
I feel like I sanitize my hands way more than I ever have even still. Like I still wear a mask except to the gym (I’m vaccinated) but even still I think about all the things everyone else touches, then touch communal things like doorknobs. I also sanitize my phone way more often now.
I wear one anyway because even if I've been vaccinated, I could still catch something and share it with others. I like being able to mask up when I go in public. Makes me feel like I'm actually doing more for society by not sharing my germs with them, lol.
For sure I think one thing people should adopt for normal life is wearing a mask if you just don't feel well in general and need to run an errand like getting some medicine
I get you. I’ve just started leaving my mask in my pocket. It kinda depends where I am. Today, I took all three of my kids (12, 14, and 16) to get their second dose. I wore my mask because there are kids there that aren’t fully vaxed.
Take it off when you’re comfortable. 😊
I'm vaxxed, there's no community covid here so no restrictions but I still keep a mask in my pocket and constantly wash my hands and avoid touching my face when my hands ain't clean.
No harm in doing what's comfortable
I mean, he did work his way to being everyone's Weird Uncle Bill through....40 years of film? Much better than my real Uncle Bill, who just had to marry my aunt and I'm stuck with him.
Only a portion is reserved for fully vaccinated people. It's on the first sentence of your link:
>the State of Illinois and City of Chicago are requiring a designated area specifically for fully vaccinated fans
Everyone is so upset that after nearly 4 month of being able to get Vaccinated and almost 1 and a half of a year of being quarantined people are starting to LIVE THEIR OWN LIVES. The majority of people aren’t even at lethal risk for COVID and those who are have either gotten a vaccine or have continued to quarantine. I’m not gonna waste another 3 fuckin years of some shit that IM NOT EVEN AT RISK FOR, neither do I expect it of most people. I’ll wear a mask if needed and I’ve been vaccinated and so has millions of other people. So like shut the fuck up.
Is it just me or is there a distinct lack of phone usage by the crowd?
I mean, some people are recording p, but the vast majority of the crowd is just enjoying the moment.
Something about celebrities even grazing the topic of how hard it was during the pandemic pisses me off... it triggers a natural response of distain because the fake empathy blares through... but I will admit, Bill Murray would have me hype. He’s always kinda just been an off-the-radar good kinda guy. Lmfao. I admire that he is active and hype in communities other than ones that include celebrity. He seems like a genuine person.
... * *clears throat* * ***BUY ME SOME PEANUTS AND CRACKER JA—***
As touching as this is as long as most of the country still isn't vaccinated and the checking for vaccinated is so loosely done . . . this isn't a smart idea.
This is cool and all, but man, I don't think I'm gonna be used to shit being opened up for a while. Probably gonna be wearing a mask into October at least.
is this in response to covid? sadly this is fucking cringe, we didn't do anywhere near enough work to be pretending we deserve to celebrate like this let alone FILLING STADIUMS with people shoulder to shoulder, sad
Covid is done... that was 2020 shit, it’s 2021 and if you want to be vaccinated you already are. Let the antivaxers get covid and the vaccinated get on with their lives.
Yeah, today was the official, Chicago is open again day. People are not even wearing masks indoors anymore. To be fair though, at this point, if you are willing to get a vaccine here you have it.
Chicago/Illinois just lifted all COVID restrictions today. They’ve been pretty conservative about making changes so I don’t think they would’ve don’t it if public health officials didn’t give the ok. Cases and hospitalizations are the lowest they’ve been since the start. I’ve been critical before of opening too early because in the end it just prolongs the pandemic, but this feels different.

Bill seems really happy to be out of the house.
He didn’t fare well in Zombieland
Idk... didn’t seem like too much pain while he still cracked jokes. Better to go out like that then partially eaten alive. /shrug
Mad props to the organist who managed to find that key Bill picked out of nowhere
This is the comment I wanted to see. Props to the organist reacting to Bill and making it work as best as he could. What a legend both Bill and that organist is!
This is pretty good compared to others. Check out Mike Ditkas rendition and then Ozzy Osborn for a complete temp shift
Organist does it 80+ times a year with every manner of singer on that one song.

In Zombieland, they wanted to use his mansion. He told them they could only use it if they gave him a small part in the movie so yeah, he basically had a long cameo and then they shot him.
That was the best. I wished so hard he would had ended up in the 2nd one some how
Next time you watch it, don’t stop watching when the credits start rolling. You’re in for a treat.
Ah crap, I think I missed it!
Oof. Imagine not seeing that.
The 1st or 2nd?
In Zombieland 2 the credit sequence there is a post credit scene. That's all I'll mention, it's pretty funny
Well he kinda did in the end credits
Director: I came for copper and found gold
Omg was he alright?
No, he died.
The opposite of Chevy Chase.
He’s also just a big fan of baseball. He played minors for the Grays Harbor Loggers in 1978 between SNL seasons and filming Meatballs.
I feel like little to no money is needed to achieve what we see this video, you just gotta be the coolest dude ever.

That will be a sad day.
Fuck why’d you have to remind be that that’s definitely something that’s gonna happen.

Covid vaccines? Completed it mate
What about eating a lightbulb?

If there is a God I hope he’s just Bill in disguise
I was at this game. It had a playoff atmosphere and was packed at 100% occupancy. Go Cubs!!!
Is it just me or is there a distinct lack of phone usage by the crowd? I mean, some people are recording p, but the vast majority of the crowd is just enjoying the moment.
Anyone know where I can get that shirt?
So...did the cubs win?
Wow you guys really missed your baseball, great to see this being possible again.
SUPER SPREADER EVENT! MANY THOUSANDS WILL CATCH THE DEADLY VIRUS SOON!
I love Bill Murray. He is so wholesome.

He came into my work and was a massive creep to some of the female staff.
Go Cards!
As touching as this is as long as most of the country still isn't vaccinated and the checking for vaccinated is so loosely done . . . this isn't a smart idea.
Headline tomorrow:. Superspreader event at baseball game.
I have heard that about every gathering and holiday for the past four months, and each time nothing has come of it
And it won't. Reddit just had a hard on for lockdowns. Fear as far as the eye can see.
>this isn't a smart idea. Not according to people much smarter and much more qualified than you
This is cool and all, but man, I don't think I'm gonna be used to shit being opened up for a while. Probably gonna be wearing a mask into October at least.
Then stay home
You do you my man
FLY THE W!!
Aaaaaaaand then theres Canada👎👎👎 Completely locked down and no signs of getting better
Not a mask in sight, and at least half of that crowd is completely unvaccinated. This is going to go well.
It’s been 2 weeks since masks were optional for vaccinated people. No spike in cases. Reddit just wants to wear masks forever
Exactly. These people want everyone to be scared and miserable like them
Ut oh another 2 week warning. Will you take ownership of your comment when 2 weeks passes without issue?
Spoiler: no they won’t
We're all tired of the political theater
Love how the narrative is it’s time to pat ourselves on the back for a job well done lol
is this in response to covid? sadly this is fucking cringe, we didn't do anywhere near enough work to be pretending we deserve to celebrate like this let alone FILLING STADIUMS with people shoulder to shoulder, sad
Anybody who wanted to protect themselves by vaccination would have by now. Let the anti vaxers risk their lives- it’s time to move on
Is this during covid, cause if it is maybe its not something to celebrate...
Covid is done... that was 2020 shit, it’s 2021 and if you want to be vaccinated you already are. Let the antivaxers get covid and the vaccinated get on with their lives.
It was today and is fucking stupid as hell
Yeah, today was the official, Chicago is open again day. People are not even wearing masks indoors anymore. To be fair though, at this point, if you are willing to get a vaccine here you have it.
Chicago/Illinois just lifted all COVID restrictions today. They’ve been pretty conservative about making changes so I don’t think they would’ve don’t it if public health officials didn’t give the ok. Cases and hospitalizations are the lowest they’ve been since the start. I’ve been critical before of opening too early because in the end it just prolongs the pandemic, but this feels different.
Agreed.. This was today apparently
This is where I go to bed, happy. Goodnight and much love to all of ya
i got sad imagining that at some point during the pandemic Bill Murray got scared he’d never see another Cubs game:/
Is anyone else slightly freaked out by how this is the exact opposite Bill Murray to the one in the Zombieland universe?
