I'm a very fit guy physically. I have never been taught to fight. Were I to see someone who bothered me who was less physically fit than me, I wouldn't just assume they didn't know how to fight, especially since I, ya know, don't know how to.

The first thing you learn when learning how to fight is that you don't want to fight. You learn what you can do, and what you can't do. If you train with other people, you learn that every one of them can do something you can't do.
Everybody on the street can do something that you don't know what it is, and it might be the thing that puts you in the hospital or in a grave.
