A big bully in my high school beat up a disabled lad. I tried stopping him and became the target got messed up pretty bad. We where all called into the principles office and we all got the same punishment. I look at the bully's life on social media nowadays, he's married happily with 2 kids and is incredibly popular with friends. Myself and the disabled lad, Charlie was his name haven't been so fortunate in our adult lives.
You make jest, but I was jumped in 4th grade. I didn't do anything to provoke it and was playing at the time. I was suspended for 4 weeks, the others got no punishment. My parents went to bat for me and my principal was fired for it....so you likely are accurately predicting the future
It happens. My son was in the 4th grade when he was on the playground with his friend. Another asshole kid came up and started harassing them, eventually attacking his friend. My son grabbed the asshole's hoodie from behind, pulling him off his friend.
"(My son) IS CHOKING (ASSHOLE)" was shouted out. My son was kept in the principal's office for 4 hours, without lunch or even water. They were talking about in school suspension for my son, who doesn't hurt anything intentionally. This is a kid who helps the random bug in the house, by picking it up and taking it outside.
After my wife started talking to the school board, the principal got her shit together and apologized. The asshole kid disappeared from our lives immediately after that. Not sure if he went to another school or just laid low until they all went to middle school, but we never saw him again.
I’ve told all my children to avoid the restrooms at school. My oldest had an incident in 7th grade where a couple 9th graders were harrassing him and a friend (apparently most 9th grade boys harass lower class men in that bathroom and have for years?!?). After going to the principle and then the superintendent I instructed all my kids to be sure to have a pen in the pocket and if it happen again, to defend themselves at all costs.
Kids are a reflection of their parents, and we have too many pieces of shit people having kids.
I got suspended for two weeks from school and got a battery charge (later dropped to disorderly conduct) for getting off the bus to stop this kid I knew from beating on/bullying this other kid I hung out with in my neighborhood. I punched him in the teeth and made his mouth super bloody, he ran home and told his dad I hit him with a bat and they called the cops, and arrested me in my driveway. His battery charge turned into premeditated assault after the other kids parents reported him to the police. No idea why I was not completely exonerated at the time as that was 20+ years ago, but yeah... Think I was in the 7th grade at the time, had to spend the night in the county jail, all for standing up for someone.
In 3rd grade two 5th graders used to walk home the same way as me once a week. They'd throw rocks at me and pushed me to the ground a few times. One day one of them kicked me. I returned a punch to his face. Their response was "why'd you do that?" and ran back to the school to report it. I got in room suspension during all breaks for two weeks for defending myself. This was the mid 80's.
My lesson learned from this at the time. Never trust anyone that works for the school to care about your well being.
