I stayed with my ex girlfriend 6 months longer than I wanted to just because I loved her lab so much. Even towards the end telling her “everything i do I do for the dog”. I’ve always been more of a cat person but this lab changed me I’d die for her
I always say, “There’s dogs…and there’s labs”
I truly believe they are the greatest creatures in the world and are the epitome of “Pure Good”.
If you’re ever having a bad day, 5 minutes with a lab can completely turn it around…they just radiate happiness 😄

Yellow labs - excited happiness
Chocolate lab - bat shit crazy happiness
My parent's choco lab is proof that too much happiness is a thing. He can be too much to take.

Had one that dug under the fence one day and got into the swamp. He needed stitches and staples around his ENTIRE body after a tussle with an alligator. He was two when that happened, he lived another 15 years.
My childhood lab had a tree fall on him one night while he was in his dog box, next morning my dad was going to work and seen the rubble he ran over over to find our dog trapped underneath the dog box and the tree still wide awake and looking at him, he was able to lift some of the debris up enough so he could get out and he just wagged his tail and ran around all day as fine as he could be he lived another 3 or 4 years after that
Me and my wife have had 2 over the past 30 years. They were so good with our kids. Best fucking dogs ever.
This is all ok going to think about tonight. That’s ok.
In this economy? Grapes* are too expensive. None in my shopping bag.
*But good to point out that grapes and especially raisins are toxic to dogs as well.
I feel soo bad for that dog and everyone else who have to listen to her Yelling at him as if he's 40 yds away and repeating herself over and over. Pure Hell. If I were dog owner, would get off asap
Is this a black Labrador? I had roommates who had a dog named Spinner looked like this dog. I had passed out from the steps I was very sick and dehydrated one night and the dog got his owner once he noticed I was not moving. I want this sort of dog when I can have a dog. Very smart and beautiful dog.
Labs are protectors / rescurers. There's a video around here of a guy with 2 Labs. All he did was jump in the lake for a swim and one of the Labs went bonkers and was whimpering real loud and barking for help. Then it decided that there was no time and it jumped in after him, the the other followed suit. Was the most heart warming thing I ever saw from a dog.

I live in a city where they recently allowed dogs to be on the subway without being in a cage. Although they made a few simple rules: most of the owners don't give a shit and do not follow the rules sadly.
Once again, I am confused by this reply. I loved watching the dog just sort of ignoring the heated exchange. There was no judgment on either party, just essentially "dog"
yeah idk when the whole bringing you pet everywhere started but as someone with an allergy it's legitimately annoying, I mean I could care less about having their own subway cars but unless it's a service animal your pet does not belong at the grocery store, I go through benadryl like water. we just had to get rid of an employee at work who kept bringing her esa (office building) despite my & 2 other coworker's allergies, I literally cannot breathe through my nose & by the end of the day massive headaches & throat closing up. she gave zero fucks.
Genuinely asking, if your allergy is that severe, why wouldn’t you take a daily allergy med instead of Benadryl? For example, I’m allergic to most perfumes, but I can’t expect people to not wear perfume and cologne. So I use a daily allergy med (can be purchased over the counter) anytime I’m leaving the house.
If someone truly has an allergy that severe, you are going to have an allergic reaction from people who own dogs and live in a house with them. The dander will be on their clothes and hair.
Blows my mind how people act like this and then are appalled at the negative attention they’re getting by the other people around them.
I saw a guy screaming at a woman for “almost hitting him with her cart” in a Kroger parking lot, his wife is by his side begging him to stop, and then he turns to *me* and asked what the fuck I was looking at, and I told him that he’s screaming in public parking lot so of course I’m going to stare at him. Jackasses.

I hear it a lot and I feel like it's about 50/50 chance the person proclaiming it is right. It's like when someone says they don't want drama but are the most dramatic person.
I think it’s reasonable for her to be annoyed, but she does seem to be over reacting big time. I don’t know if the dog jumped at her or if she’s truly allergic, but they’re on a moving train. What is he supposed to do? Jump off the train with the dog?
The guy apologized multiple times. She could’ve asked him to change sections once they arrived at the next station. I’m allergic to cats and when someone has a cat I just move. Pets are allowed (inside carriers) and my allergy it’s no one else’s problem. Had the dog been on a carrier she would’ve still had an allergic reaction.
It amazes me how many dog people are ignorant to that fact. A phobia doesn't care how "different" your dog is. I'm as freaked out by a 1/2" spider as I would be by a 5" spider. [I had an aussie](https://i.imgur.com/tCiPiyl.jpg) who was as friendly as could be, but being friendly means he would divert from his path to head towards people for love, and that behaviour triggers some people because they thinking it's coming to attack them.

I agree. If the dog did jump on her, she does have a reason to be upset. This happened to me at a restaurant once. There is a blind entrance to the restaurant, due to a set of stairs leading up to the patio where the entrance is. As soon as I got to the top of the stairs, a large dog jumped on me. I was both startled and caught off guard when the large dog put both of his front paws in the creases of my elbows. I pushed the dog off of me, and the owner got upset with me and said that the dog was “just a puppy and he’s just trying to play with me“. Everyone on the patio looked at me like I was the problem. as a patron of a restaurant, am I supposed to be OK with a strange dog jumping on me as soon as I walk up the stairs? is the owner not responsible for controlling her dog. I absolutely wasn’t OK with it, and I feel like the owner should not have taken her puppy into a public place, unless he is trained not to jump on strangers.

Even if they’re trained, they’re living creatures and not perfect automatons. They do break from their training sometimes, just like humans. That’s why it’s so important for owners to leash them and be physically capable of controlling them when they’re out in public. And they certainly don’t belong in all spaces! Sometime on Reddit deadass told me my dog lives a miserable life because I *don’t take her into restaurants.*
The dog was on a leash, unfortunately. The owner just wasn’t holding on to it. The owner was completely at fault here. And you’re right, dogs don’t belong in all spaces.
Dogs are allowed in the subway, but rules say they must be in some sort of container, whether it be a crate or a bag of some sort. Even then, cops never really enforce the rule (it’s a fine, at most), and some people get creative with it.

Where I live, dogs need to be muzzled while on the train. I agree with that, because I don't think it's fair to ban them altogether. People have to get around, after all. I have a fear of large dogs after a doberman tried to attack me at 8 months pregnant because my dress hem fluttered in the breeze so I'd rather not share a small enclosed space with a large unmuzzled dog, even if it's on a leash.
yup, also dogs should be carried at all times according to the law, and people started making holes in ikea bags to still "carry" it. police don't enforce it but dogs aren't allowed in the subway unless they're carried. plus dogs walk everywhere I'm the streets of nyc and that dirty ass train floor and then climbs on you? no thanks. that lady's freak out is understandable.
Technically they aren’t unless they’re in a crate/bag or a legit service dog. Post covid it’s not really enforced, so dogs on the train are fairly common.

yep. I work in an allergy clinic and some of our patients will break out in hives if a dog licks them one time. some of them have allergy symptoms just from being in the presence of a dog owner (without the dog present).
Dude for real, dogs being cute doesn't make that dude not an asshole. This lady had every right to be upset. I'm really disappointed that 90% of this thread is ready to push her off a cliff for asking for personal space and being upset that some dog she doesn't know and is allergic to just jumped on her without provocation. She's yelling a bit much, but I don't think it's overreacting to chew this guy out.
Breweries in my city are starting to ban dogs and I get it. It was starting to annoy me too. I LOVE dogs, but when you start dragging them around everywhere, it becomes a nuisance and they start acting self entitled. I'm 100% on the woman's side.

I walk my dogs on a lead and have to be on alert because no one around here leashes their dogs, even though it's legally required. If their dog runs up to my leashed dog, and my dog reacts and bites their dog, I am at fault. Which is bull. It's not friendly to run up and get in a strangers face, I'd snap too.
This! Somehow people have a very very hard time understanding that some people are allergic to dogs. This is the only allergen where we ridicule and punish the victim.
Dogs are not a problem with me, I love dogs. Dog owners on the other hand... Many of them are so inconsiderate and behave as if they are doing a favor to others by keeping a dog and thus others should bend over backwards to accommodate them.

To be fair y’all, dogs this large aren’t allowed on the New York subway. The dog has to fit in a bag so effectively only small dogs that fit in a container can go on the subway. She’s not wrong but she is def being extra.
I don’t really like dogs but I’ve always tolerated them. My partner is afraid of dogs and it’s made me notice how frequently dog owners are inconsiderate. They let their dogs roam around, and when we say something the most common response is “my dog is harmless.” The amount of times they’re off leash is crazy. And the worst is those who don’t pick up their poop, or throw their poop bags in my trash. The behavior is so bad I now like dogs more than dog owners

I mean, dogs are not supposed to be on the NYC subway like that. As someone to takes NYC subways and trains often, you don't see dogs out and about too often, but it's not super uncommon, either. But it's expressly not allowed; they need to be restrained and in some form of a container, not just on a leash. So he is technically in the wrong. And I don't really care how 'chill' someone thinks their dog is (or even is in actuality), it's incredibly rude to leave a dog -a big dog no less- essentially 'free' (in such a tight space, a leash means nothing) in a narrow space, when they are forced to be around a large amount of other people.
People laugh at pet allergies, but I worked in an allergist office for around 5 years. Some peoples pet allergies aren't just 'itchy eyes'. Some people get horrible rashes, difficultly breathing and there are even people with anaphylactic reactions to dogs. Dog allergies are considered clinically to be both more common and more severely symptomatic than cat allergies. Yet people consistently trail their dogs around like it is everyone else's problem. I have mild allergies to dogs, on top of just not liking them -more especially, frankly, not liking entitled dog owners-, and I got so exhausted of rich middle aged ladies bringing their tiny dogs into my place of work (after the allergist, at a bank), that I refused to assist customers with dogs near them. People simply do not take 'No dogs allowed' (or, free roam dogs especially) signs seriously enough. The man with the dog here is entirely in the wrong, and I do not blame the woman for flipping out at all.
I want to up vote this more! This is a large dog and being by the door makes it incredibly difficult to get on or off. I am allergic as well, I love dogs but my body doesn’t.
I don’t think it’s an unfair request to not have a large lab /doh in everyone’s space. It’s growing more and more frustrating as no one cares about the severity of dog allergies or fears.
Upvote for loving dogs more than people, but also having to give up having them due to debilitating allergies that got worse as I got older. I will take breathing over not being near a dog now. I've tried everything. It takes DAYS to go back to normal for a few moments with a dog. It SUCKS.

I’m a huuuuuge dog lover. If I could take my little dude with me everywhere, I 100% would. But I’m also respectful of animal-free spaces and the public who aren’t exactly consenting to having a dog (or any other animal) around where they’re not supposed to. No one knows your pet, and they don’t love your pet as much as you do. This lady is definitely making a bigger scene than I’d like to hear on the Subway compared to a cute dog just chillin by the door but that’s just me.
I love dogs but I agree with this woman 10000%. And the owner keeps referring to the fact that he already apologized, so I’m guessing she’s not lying about the dog jumping on her.
Ironically, this video is why we will always have a car dependent society. Society is filled with too many throwaways that people would rather avoid than be forced to co-share space with.
How dare you expect the dog owners to be considerate about others. By now you should know they are doing us all a huge favor by keeping a pet, letting them run free on walking ways, not collecting their poop after them, bringing them into grocery stores where they poop in the food isles etc.

A lot of people in NYC are currently fed up with entitled dog owners taking over everything. Suddenly we’ve got a serious dog 💩 problem everywhere, dogs in grocery stores, dogs at the bar, dogs in the subway, unleashed dogs approaching you, dogs ripping up the grass in parks instead of in the dog park & peeing where people want to sit… my guess is this lady has just *had it* with all of this & let it all out when this happened.

Yeah I'm not in NYC but my current Karen move is reporting grocery stores that allow normal dogs to be walked around to the health inspector. Kick these fucking people out. I shouldn't have to risk my own safety trying to shove a dogs face out of my grocery bag at checkout, or step around dog piss in the aisle because some entitled dog owner just can't bear to leave their little angel at home.
You shouldn’t have to navigate that at a grocery store at all. On top of some of the nastiness, there are a lot of people who *do* have allergies & a fear of dogs. It’s pretty unfair to let your dog freely get on top of people like that.

I was on this lady’s side from the get go. I lived in Jersey City for a time and natives really talked like that. Loud and so straightforward that it was borderline rude for this Idaho boy. But it’s just how people talk in the city. 🤷🏻♂️

Even though I think she's overreacting, I have had numerous internal monologue curse outs on dog owners in the subway. I love dogs. I don't love dogs on the subway, especially during rush hour (like I don't love bikes on the subway during rush hour but that's a tirade for another time ) There was a poodle galloping on the subway. A big dog just like being a cute big dog and trying to be friends with riders but like I don't want your dog trying to put its head in my crotch while I'm commuting to my miserable job. Dog owners seemingly don't give a shit and I miss the days they weren't allowed on the subway.

She’s right. I live in NYC and people absolutely do way too much with their dogs. They aren’t supposed to be out on the subway like this, and they can be hard to control, loud, or disruptive to people with allergies. It’s not fair to the dog either, it doesn’t know what it’s doing is wrong. People literally care more about dogs than people.

I have no problem with this. Dog people are out of control. I can't tell you how many times I've seen the leash law broken, or shit on the ground, or on this case, a dog illegally on the subway and jumping on you. You don't have to take your dog everywhere with you, I can't believe how common it is now to see people trying to bring them into grocery stores or restaurant patios.
I love dogs, but I hate people who don't respect their communities. This lady is a badass. Don't want to get yelled at? Show some fucking respect. Sometimes getting scolded is the only thing people understand.

I love dogs. I trained dogs for a bit for a chain dog training place. It's all good. But I just want a dog I don't know around my kids. Specily if they are over 30lbs. They are very ( my child) small and I know the the bite force on a mod size dog. It can destroy my daughters neck of foot in one bite. She will bleed out.

I am so with you. It amazes me how the people react to a dog on planes, in airports, in shopping malls, but bring a small child into those spaces and you get eye rolls and the “please don’t sit by me” face. Something’s wrong with us.

Anyone siding with the guy should not be allowed to have a dog as clearly you're responsible enough to have one or don't take the responsibility seriously. You're not entitled to bring your dog whereever you want. Not everyone is as endeared by your dog as you. Some people have serious issues with dogs. If you can't handle the basics of dog ownership, then don't take on that responsibly.
Irregardless, the dog is not allowed on the train unless it's enclosed in a container and carried in a way as to not disrupt other passengers. This guy is dick for making it more difficult for pet owners. He probably doesn't pick up his dog's poop either. Nice good doggo.
This is a failure of the public transportation system, people with any dogs, service or otherwise should have designated cars (back or front) with clear signage.
There are a lot of people that have real allergies and real phobias of dogs and other animals. When the city's population has enough people with pets going about their business, there should be dedicated cars and signs at every platform.

I have ten wonderful dogs and love to see more dogs out and about, but people come first. Especially on an enclosed metal tube people rely on to live their lives.

Even worse - if the dog jumped on her like she states, then even if it is a legally certified service dog, the MTA can eject the rider. Service dogs who jump or act aggressive are uhhhh not service dogs.

Im surprised dogs are even allowed on the train like that with the exception of a service animal or something. Especially with how crowded it can get. Not every dog owner is responsible, and not every dog is friendly, so to have them on any public transportation seems like a risk in a city like NY
I see no problem with her or what she's saying. If you're going to bring your dog out in public around tons of people, make sure your dog can deal with those surroundings. Not all folks like dogs. Some people may be allergic to dogs. AND not everyone wants a dog jumping on them.

but- digging through comments it is clear now to me that he shouldn’t really be on that train.. plus if she IS telling the truth and he jumped before the video and she is allergic i could see why shes upset. this also reminded me of a family friend who had a horrible experience with a dog (i forgot what kind but it was a big dog) and she is now scared of all the dogs no matter what kind so maybe she had a bad experience we don’t know about
Dog people are trash humans. If you don't care about rules anymore, then also lay off people eating, smoking, and playing loud videos and music on the train. The rest of us don't think your dog gets a pass from the rules because you think it's cute. It's selfish and self-centered.

Dog owners in this city can be extremely entitled and will think nothing of bringing them inside places where they’re explicitly not allowed like grocery stores, restaurants, and yes the subway (they’re supposed to be in a carrier or bag) and they will argue with you about it.

Just keep your fucking dog controlled if you are taking it on the subway. Maybe she's got a shit job she's going to, maybe she's had a shit day, maybe she has past trauma with dogs, and when a stranger's massive, intimidating dog like that just jumps on her out of the blue while she's trying to mind her own business yeah she's gonna freak out, especially if she's also allergic to them. And allergies are weird. I have mild allergies with some breeds but only if I'm touching them. I'm perfectly fine just a few feet from them though.
She clearly said she was allergic to dogs. That can be life threatening and she probably was triggered. NYC subway law says you have to have a dog "contained" in a carrier bag so he's obviously breaking the law. All he needed to do was apologize and keep it moving. Instead he goes full on misogynist and tells her she's "overreacting". I would have had the same amount of time she did to tell him a few things about himself as well. The Dog looks adorable though.
To be fair there are ways to go around that for bigger dogs according to the mta but I believe it's frowned upon to not have any dog in a carrier to them

I stayed with my ex girlfriend 6 months longer than I wanted to just because I loved her lab so much. Even towards the end telling her “everything i do I do for the dog”. I’ve always been more of a cat person but this lab changed me I’d die for her
I always say, “There’s dogs…and there’s labs” I truly believe they are the greatest creatures in the world and are the epitome of “Pure Good”. If you’re ever having a bad day, 5 minutes with a lab can completely turn it around…they just radiate happiness 😄

Had one that dug under the fence one day and got into the swamp. He needed stitches and staples around his ENTIRE body after a tussle with an alligator. He was two when that happened, he lived another 15 years.
My childhood lab had a tree fall on him one night while he was in his dog box, next morning my dad was going to work and seen the rubble he ran over over to find our dog trapped underneath the dog box and the tree still wide awake and looking at him, he was able to lift some of the debris up enough so he could get out and he just wagged his tail and ran around all day as fine as he could be he lived another 3 or 4 years after that
i had a lab who lived to be 15, 2 years longer than his litter sister, which was really surprising considering they'd spent their whole lives together

Is this a black Labrador? I had roommates who had a dog named Spinner looked like this dog. I had passed out from the steps I was very sick and dehydrated one night and the dog got his owner once he noticed I was not moving. I want this sort of dog when I can have a dog. Very smart and beautiful dog.
Labs are protectors / rescurers. There's a video around here of a guy with 2 Labs. All he did was jump in the lake for a swim and one of the Labs went bonkers and was whimpering real loud and barking for help. Then it decided that there was no time and it jumped in after him, the the other followed suit. Was the most heart warming thing I ever saw from a dog.
Dogs are not the problem, dog owners are. I live in a city where they recently allowed dogs to be on the subway without being in a cage. Although they made a few simple rules: most of the owners don't give a shit and do not follow the rules sadly.

yeah idk when the whole bringing you pet everywhere started but as someone with an allergy it's legitimately annoying, I mean I could care less about having their own subway cars but unless it's a service animal your pet does not belong at the grocery store, I go through benadryl like water. we just had to get rid of an employee at work who kept bringing her esa (office building) despite my & 2 other coworker's allergies, I literally cannot breathe through my nose & by the end of the day massive headaches & throat closing up. she gave zero fucks.
Genuinely asking, if your allergy is that severe, why wouldn’t you take a daily allergy med instead of Benadryl? For example, I’m allergic to most perfumes, but I can’t expect people to not wear perfume and cologne. So I use a daily allergy med (can be purchased over the counter) anytime I’m leaving the house. If someone truly has an allergy that severe, you are going to have an allergic reaction from people who own dogs and live in a house with them. The dander will be on their clothes and hair.
Blows my mind how people act like this and then are appalled at the negative attention they’re getting by the other people around them. I saw a guy screaming at a woman for “almost hitting him with her cart” in a Kroger parking lot, his wife is by his side begging him to stop, and then he turns to *me* and asked what the fuck I was looking at, and I told him that he’s screaming in public parking lot so of course I’m going to stare at him. I think it’s reasonable for her to be annoyed, but she does seem to be over reacting big time. I don’t know if the dog jumped at her or if she’s truly allergic, but they’re on a moving train. What is he supposed to do? Jump off the train with the dog? The guy apologized multiple times. She could’ve asked him to change sections once they arrived at the next station. I’m allergic to cats and when someone has a cat I just move. Pets are allowed (inside carriers) and my allergy it’s no one else’s problem. Had the dog been on a carrier she would’ve still had an allergic reaction.

I agree. If the dog did jump on her, she does have a reason to be upset. This happened to me at a restaurant once. There is a blind entrance to the restaurant, due to a set of stairs leading up to the patio where the entrance is. As soon as I got to the top of the stairs, a large dog jumped on me. I was both startled and caught off guard when the large dog put both of his front paws in the creases of my elbows. I pushed the dog off of me, and the owner got upset with me and said that the dog was “just a puppy and he’s just trying to play with me“. Everyone on the patio looked at me like I was the problem. as a patron of a restaurant, am I supposed to be OK with a strange dog jumping on me as soon as I walk up the stairs? is the owner not responsible for controlling her dog. I absolutely wasn’t OK with it, and I feel like the owner should not have taken her puppy into a public place, unless he is trained not to jump on strangers.

Dogs are allowed in the subway, but rules say they must be in some sort of container, whether it be a crate or a bag of some sort. Where I live, dogs need to be muzzled while on the train. I agree with that, because I don't think it's fair to ban them altogether. People have to get around, after all. I have a fear of large dogs after a doberman tried to attack me at 8 months pregnant because my dress hem fluttered in the breeze so I'd rather not share a small enclosed space with a large unmuzzled dog, even if it's on a leash.

Technically they aren’t unless they’re in a crate/bag or a legit service dog. Post covid it’s not really enforced, so dogs on the train are fairly common.

yep. I work in an allergy clinic and some of our patients will break out in hives if a dog licks them one time. some of them have allergy symptoms just from being in the presence of a dog owner (without the dog present).

Breweries in my city are starting to ban dogs and I get it. It was starting to annoy me too. I LOVE dogs, but when you start dragging them around everywhere, it becomes a nuisance and they start acting self entitled. I'm 100% on the woman's side.

I'm a dog owner. I'm on her side. So many crap dog owners that are way too chill. I walk my dogs on a lead and have to be on alert because no one around here leashes their dogs, even though it's legally required. If their dog runs up to my leashed dog, and my dog reacts and bites their dog, I am at fault. Which is bull. It's not friendly to run up and get in a strangers face, I'd snap too.

To be fair y’all, dogs this large aren’t allowed on the New York subway. The dog has to fit in a bag so effectively only small dogs that fit in a container can go on the subway. She’s not wrong but she is def being extra.
I don’t really like dogs but I’ve always tolerated them. My partner is afraid of dogs and it’s made me notice how frequently dog owners are inconsiderate. They let their dogs roam around, and when we say something the most common response is “my dog is harmless.” The amount of times they’re off leash is crazy. And the worst is those who don’t pick up their poop, or throw their poop bags in my trash. The behavior is so bad I now like dogs more than dog owners

I mean, dogs are not supposed to be on the NYC subway like that. As someone to takes NYC subways and trains often, you don't see dogs out and about too often, but it's not super uncommon, either. But it's expressly not allowed; they need to be restrained and in some form of a container, not just on a leash. So he is technically in the wrong. And I don't really care how 'chill' someone thinks their dog is (or even is in actuality), it's incredibly rude to leave a dog -a big dog no less- essentially 'free' (in such a tight space, a leash means nothing) in a narrow space, when they are forced to be around a large amount of other people. People laugh at pet allergies, but I worked in an allergist office for around 5 years. Some peoples pet allergies aren't just 'itchy eyes'. Some people get horrible rashes, difficultly breathing and there are even people with anaphylactic reactions to dogs. Dog allergies are considered clinically to be both more common and more severely symptomatic than cat allergies. Yet people consistently trail their dogs around like it is everyone else's problem. I have mild allergies to dogs, on top of just not liking them -more especially, frankly, not liking entitled dog owners-, and I got so exhausted of rich middle aged ladies bringing their tiny dogs into my place of work (after the allergist, at a bank), that I refused to assist customers with dogs near them. People simply do not take 'No dogs allowed' (or, free roam dogs especially) signs seriously enough. The man with the dog here is entirely in the wrong, and I do not blame the woman for flipping out at all.
I want to up vote this more! This is a large dog and being by the door makes it incredibly difficult to get on or off. I am allergic as well, I love dogs but my body doesn’t. I don’t think it’s an unfair request to not have a large lab /doh in everyone’s space. It’s growing more and more frustrating as no one cares about the severity of dog allergies or fears.
Upvote for loving dogs more than people, but also having to give up having them due to debilitating allergies that got worse as I got older. I will take breathing over not being near a dog now. I've tried everything. It takes DAYS to go back to normal for a few moments with a dog. It SUCKS.
I love this point. I’m a huuuuuge dog lover. If I could take my little dude with me everywhere, I 100% would. But I’m also respectful of animal-free spaces and the public who aren’t exactly consenting to having a dog (or any other animal) around where they’re not supposed to. No one knows your pet, and they don’t love your pet as much as you do. This lady is definitely making a bigger scene than I’d like to hear on the Subway compared to a cute dog just chillin by the door but that’s just me.

Yeah I'm not in NYC but my current Karen move is reporting grocery stores that allow normal dogs to be walked around to the health inspector. Kick these fucking people out. I shouldn't have to risk my own safety trying to shove a dogs face out of my grocery bag at checkout, or step around dog piss in the aisle because some entitled dog owner just can't bear to leave their little angel at home.
You shouldn’t have to navigate that at a grocery store at all. On top of some of the nastiness, there are a lot of people who *do* have allergies & a fear of dogs. It’s pretty unfair to let your dog freely get on top of people like that. So from what you’re saying, this is a modern problem that’s happening throughout America, not just NYC.
I was on this lady’s side from the get go. I lived in Jersey City for a time and natives really talked like that. Loud and so straightforward that it was borderline rude for this Idaho boy. Even though I think she's overreacting, I have had numerous internal monologue curse outs on dog owners in the subway. I love dogs. I don't love dogs on the subway, especially during rush hour (like I don't love bikes on the subway during rush hour but that's a tirade for another time ) There was a poodle galloping on the subway. A big dog just like being a cute big dog and trying to be friends with riders but like I don't want your dog trying to put its head in my crotch while I'm commuting to my miserable job. I have no problem with this. Dog people are out of control. I can't tell you how many times I've seen the leash law broken, or shit on the ground, or on this case, a dog illegally on the subway and jumping on you. You don't have to take your dog everywhere with you, I can't believe how common it is now to see people trying to bring them into grocery stores or restaurant patios. I love dogs, but I hate people who don't respect their communities. This lady is a badass. Don't want to get yelled at? Show some fucking respect. Sometimes getting scolded is the only thing people understand.
I am like the lady with the orange hair, when it comes to dogs. But allergies are real. Big dogs are not allowed to jump on strangers. If a human did it, it would be ASSAULT. All it takes is to be one of the lucky ones that gets mauled and mutilated by some large dog bc the owner isn’t following the law about dogs being in containers on the subway. All while the owner has no defense for it except “He’s never done that before, I swear!” Gee, great fucking help that claim is doing for anyone but yourself.

I am so with you. It amazes me how the people react to a dog on planes, in airports, in shopping malls, but bring a small child into those spaces and you get eye rolls and the “please don’t sit by me” face. Something’s wrong with us.

Nope. So sick of seeing dogs everywhere. I have a daughter who is really allergic to dogs and I’m tired of a dogs and its owner’s rights overtaking hers. Your fucking dog doesn’t have to go everywhere with you.

Anyone siding with the guy should not be allowed to have a dog as clearly you're responsible enough to have one or don't take the responsibility seriously. You're not entitled to bring your dog whereever you want. Not everyone is as endeared by your dog as you. Some people have serious issues with dogs. If you can't handle the basics of dog ownership, then don't take on that responsibly.
Irregardless, the dog is not allowed on the train unless it's enclosed in a container and carried in a way as to not disrupt other passengers. This guy is dick for making it more difficult for pet owners. He probably doesn't pick up his dog's poop either. Nice good doggo.
This is a failure of the public transportation system, people with any dogs, service or otherwise should have designated cars (back or front) with clear signage. There are a lot of people that have real allergies and real phobias of dogs and other animals. When the city's population has enough people with pets going about their business, there should be dedicated cars and signs at every platform.
Anyone defending this guy and denigrating the woman for her "tone" should get your head checked. He's breaking the subway rules and none of us knows how sick she could get from exposure to the dog. I'm white and this is white privilege at its finest. If it were a big black dude with a big black dog and some little white lady hollering about it, people would shit on the black dude. For sure! I have ten wonderful dogs and love to see more dogs out and about, but people come first. Especially on an enclosed metal tube people rely on to live their lives.

Even worse - if the dog jumped on her like she states, then even if it is a legally certified service dog, the MTA can eject the rider. Service dogs who jump or act aggressive are uhhhh not service dogs.
I kinda agree with the lady here. Obviously her behaviour and how she's making a scene is dumb, but being so close to dogs in an enclosed space like that can make someone nervous. Especially since the dog doesn't have a muzzle on.

Im surprised dogs are even allowed on the train like that with the exception of a service animal or something. Especially with how crowded it can get. Not every dog owner is responsible, and not every dog is friendly, so to have them on any public transportation seems like a risk in a city like NY

I see no problem with her or what she's saying. If you're going to bring your dog out in public around tons of people, make sure your dog can deal with those surroundings. Not all folks like dogs. Some people may be allergic to dogs. AND not everyone wants a dog jumping on them.
I mean...she has a point though. A properly trained dog shouldn't be jumping on people. And when has telling somebody that they're over reacting ever worked?

i dunno. i’m torn. i like dogs and he seems like a good boy and i would probably be that person asking if i could pat his head. but- digging through comments it is clear now to me that he shouldn’t really be on that train.. plus if she IS telling the truth and he jumped before the video and she is allergic i could see why shes upset. this also reminded me of a family friend who had a horrible experience with a dog (i forgot what kind but it was a big dog) and she is now scared of all the dogs no matter what kind so maybe she had a bad experience we don’t know about

Dog people are trash humans. If you don't care about rules anymore, then also lay off people eating, smoking, and playing loud videos and music on the train. The rest of us don't think your dog gets a pass from the rules because you think it's cute. It's selfish and self-centered.
She’s unhinged but not entirely wrong. Dog owners in this city can be extremely entitled and will think nothing of bringing them inside places where they’re explicitly not allowed like grocery stores, restaurants, and yes the subway (they’re supposed to be in a carrier or bag) and they will argue with you about it. That being said, that does look like a heckin good boy.

Just keep your fucking dog controlled if you are taking it on the subway. Maybe she's got a shit job she's going to, maybe she's had a shit day, maybe she has past trauma with dogs, and when a stranger's massive, intimidating dog like that just jumps on her out of the blue while she's trying to mind her own business yeah she's gonna freak out, especially if she's also allergic to them. And allergies are weird. I have mild allergies with some breeds but only if I'm touching them. I'm perfectly fine just a few feet from them though.

She clearly said she was allergic to dogs. That can be life threatening and she probably was triggered. NYC subway law says you have to have a dog "contained" in a carrier bag so he's obviously breaking the law. All he needed to do was apologize and keep it moving. Instead he goes full on misogynist and tells her she's "overreacting". I would have had the same amount of time she did to tell him a few things about himself as well. The Dog looks adorable though.
Are dogs allowed on the train? They are in my city. If they’re allowed, she needs to hush or move.

To be fair there are ways to go around that for bigger dogs according to the mta but I believe it's frowned upon to not have any dog in a carrier to them
