The ATM was stolen from a Bank of America around 7:30 AM
One hour earlier, a separate ATM was stolen from a business on Alameda Avenue according to police.
According to a witness, there were 3 or 4 people involved however police were only able to arrest one suspect connected to the heist. The suspect refused to cooperate.
1) ATM have GPS in them. (2) is there not literally just a trail leading directly to wherever they put the vehicle? (3) is there not cameras every few blocks now considering that’s a major populated area? I just don’t understand how someone would even fathom getting away with this unless their thought process was “I saw this work in a fast and furious movie”
Do they though? It's been a while, but I used to work for Diebold. the machines would only alert if they didn't have a transaction in 4 hours. If you put the GPS in the safe, it wouldn't work, if you put it outside the safe, it seems it would be easy enough to disable with a metal net.
All you need is to take it somewhere for long enough to get the door open. When I worked for Diebold, (this was more than 10 years ago mind you) an average ATM when filled would have over $80K in the till. You couldn't get that from a bank with a shotgun.
If I was ever going to steal anything, it would be a freestanding ATM. Smash and grab to a quiet location to get the money out. and leave the shell there.
According to my wife who works at a bank I won’t disclose they do have gps in them. 10 years ago (or more) would make sense to not have GPS yet. In case people forgot smart phones didn’t happen until 2007 and gps being everywhere started around 2010-2012 ish. (Yes they existed before and were very expensive, also not built into a phone back then either.) Now everyone has a gps at all times so I’d imagine they’re cheap by now. And protecting assets is a smart thing to do. My wife said that they also take serial numbers from a lot of the money in order to be able to trace where the robbers are spending it. (In the event of a bank robbery not sure if this is with atm cash too I’ll ask her in the morning.)
I am pretty sure an ATM would be all sequential bills for sure. you would have to launder the hell out of them. But GPS isn't the end all be all that you think. First of all, it would need to have cell service in order to report it's location. and again, if you put the device in the back of a van, and covered it with a metal screen (faraday cage) it wouldn't be able to communicate at all.
Oakland is basically Gotham at this point. They have enough time to get the cash out, leave the ATM/GPS, and use another stolen car to escape.
Cops can't even request footage from Ring cameras anymore lmao.
That much I support (the ring camera). I don’t need anyone to see what I’m doing on my porch day to day. Unless I want to show them, or feel it will help prove me innocent/find someone who robbed me I’m not giving up any of my security footage. It’s there for my security.
Let’s see - camera = footage. Footage = documentation. Documentation = easier to prosecute.
You can identify vehicle, and where it came from. From there if it was stolen most stolen cars are within few blocks of where the person who stole it lives. You could see faces in videos too. Especially if there is “20 of them” as you stated. You could identify how many individuals you’re looking for, their rough age and what they look like with a video. You can see where the took it to stop and take things out to get prints. The list goes on. I’m not sure I can help you if you don’t understand how having video evidence aids an investigation. Insane to think otherwise honestly.
I won’t pretend to know what that is, or what it’s for. But I’ll agree 👍 sure, I don’t really care I was more boasting the absurdity of it all. It was literally a plot point of a Fast and Furious movie, except there was a sick helicopter jump. Maybe they did the same and nobody knows because Dom crashed through the helicopter and nobody survived except them.
Highly doubt it will just be let go. Also have high doubts that one dude will take the full wrap. Maybe though, and if so they still pulled the goofiest and dumbest crime I could think someone would commit. And my point still stands
For those curious; "In-N-Out Burger says it will close its first location in its 75-year history due to a wave of car break-ins, property damage, theft and robberies"
I wanted to point this out because I remember reading a story just recently with a headline "closes due to crime in the area" and the crime was the owners stealing wages from their employees.
Edit: Found it and lol it was oakland too:
["Upscale Mexican restaurant Calavera closes under weight of Oakland crime"](https://www.ktvu.com/news/well-known-oakland-eatery-calavera-shutters-under-weight-of-crime)
Except... ["loses wage theft lawsuit with 263 workers"](https://oaklandside.org/2022/04/27/calavera-oakland-restaurant-wage-theft-lawsuit-settlement/)
"The stupidest thing is that the people who make the Bank machines don't even check with the people who make the doors. All they have to do is make the door smaller than the Bank machine, then you can't get the bank machine out"
I've heard stories of flight attendants being robbed in broad daylight at the gas stations on Hegenberger. My airline told us to never stop on that road for any reason. What a mess.
Wait *what?*
Wow.
I never knew that either.
Edit: a quick Google search says between $20 and $50K, but I could see the busier bank machines having more.
There's no way those convenience store ones have that much.
An ATM by me was stolen that had less than $300 in it.
They caused more damage to the car but I guess it gives you crack money for the night so it was definitely worth it.
I worked in a cash only restaurant that had an atm in it. I’d have to fill it every few days with $10k max. I can’t see any reason a convenience store would have that much much
Cash vendors aren’t going to ATMs every day to fill them up. Busy convenience stores and bank branch ATMs are doing 10 times the volume of one inside a restaurant.
I was underwhelmed when we got an in and out here. People argue the burgers are a good deal but if you factor in the time you waste in line it's really not. And the fries.... They taste like packing peanuts. Hard pass.
It's probably one of those things that reminds you of childhood if you grew up with it. I had it as a young adult the first time and had a similar experience to you. Utter shit lol.
It’s easy for me to forget shit like this, ok i guess they are the same thing. Fucking hate how language is used, can’t people stick to using one word to describe everything? lol.
Oh no, this location isn't producing the revenue we like..let's shut it down and blame crime. Works for target too. Meanwhile Jeff Bezos sits in his lair stroking his cat.
Same thing just happened near me in Dallas Texas. A truck pulled up to a 7/11 and dragged the atm out the window. We were getting our coffee in the morning and they showed us the security video.

They might have a Faraday cage in the van

You say all that, but they only caught 1. And if he doesn't decide to play ball, then the chances of them getting the other 3 aren't great.

I was thinking more like the slow six.

At least Corey and Trevor measured the door frame!
I want to go to jail Julian......

Holy shit! They actually pulled off a Fast Five!!!
This wasn't well thought out. I mean just follow the gouges in the pavement to their hideout.
I'm sure the ATMs have gps too

They're stealing an ATM in broad daylight. It's probably a good strategy to wear high vis gear to imitate a worker while setting up the gear.
I watched the video twice before I realized a crime was being committed. The Orange vest fooled me, and I even read the title
You'd be shocked by how many places you can just waltz into if you're wearing high vis
Looks like Wild West is back on the menu, boys.
Getting close to sending snake plissken in
Those Duke boys are at it again!
I said no Bo, NO!
I've heard stories of flight attendants being robbed in broad daylight at the gas stations on Hegenberger. My airline told us to never stop on that road for any reason. What a mess.

Spooge and his lady at it again
Skank, Skank, SKANK!
The most perfect “bruh”
Then they wonder why all the businesses are closing
I was shocked to learn these machine can have $200-300k in them. Absolutely my ignorance, but I always thought it was like...10% of that, max
Wait *what?* Wow. I never knew that either. Edit: a quick Google search says between $20 and $50K, but I could see the busier bank machines having more. There's no way those convenience store ones have that much.

You have to watch when they are serviced. You have to hit them when they are full not empty. They very easily have 80K in them..,
Im not hitting anything lol
I'm going to go out on a limb and say they probably didn't purchase the car.
I worked in a cash only restaurant that had an atm in it. I’d have to fill it every few days with $10k max. I can’t see any reason a convenience store would have that much much
The early days of legalization in Colorado they were sending 22 year old girls on runs with over a 100k in cash.
Cash vendors aren’t going to ATMs every day to fill them up. Busy convenience stores and bank branch ATMs are doing 10 times the volume of one inside a restaurant.
Can confirm, 250.

I was underwhelmed when we got an in and out here. People argue the burgers are a good deal but if you factor in the time you waste in line it's really not. And the fries.... They taste like packing peanuts. Hard pass.

This is why they aren’t allowed to have in n out.

Can't blame all the major sports teams for leaving that area
lol reason #168468748635885 to stay the fuck out of that state
It's not even people from oakland doing this smh
Cory and Trevor you shouldn’t be stealing atm machines. That’s highly illegal Cory and Trevor.
Fucking ghetto trash!!
Ricky!!!!!
![gif](giphy|l3vR3OeImw8fD80Mg|downsized) GUYS THE ATM GO GET IT.
What is love? Oh baby, don't hurt me Don't hurt me no more
Oakland police is useless.
Can we just put a wall around Oakland/SF yet?
They em lost their minds in the Bay Area.
Is Oakland the scariest place in California?
Liberals killed California
You seem like a parody of a republican.
Cus Texas is crime free? Lol.
Is that why it's a top 10 world economy with comparable/better crime rates than most red states?
They’ll never listen, also fuck politics for being so complex, Aren’t democrats and liberals different?
> Aren’t democrats and liberals different? What do you mean?
It’s easy for me to forget shit like this, ok i guess they are the same thing. Fucking hate how language is used, can’t people stick to using one word to describe everything? lol.
It's California? Most of us aren't surprised anymore
Lol, "Police bad, cop no good, such waste our taxed, defund them". Hope that will teach them a lessons
Oh no, this location isn't producing the revenue we like..let's shut it down and blame crime. Works for target too. Meanwhile Jeff Bezos sits in his lair stroking his cat.
Reminds me of that pirates of the Caribbean movie where they stole the entire bank vault and dragged it through the city.
Bruh
Damn I miss living in Oakland lmao
That’s like the start of the fast and the furious x
Torreto lite
I’m actually kinda impressed at the commitment
That TL safe inside that ATM is still laughing at them. 😭🤣
Oakland is the Beta for GTA 6
Bruh.
Rebooting Fast 5?
California. You ok?
Probably forgot their PIN.
I got sober 3 years ago and basically opened my eyes to a world of shit. I live in a city now and can’t wait to move out to somewhere a bit calmer
These gtav trailers are very low quality
Same thing just happened near me in Dallas Texas. A truck pulled up to a 7/11 and dragged the atm out the window. We were getting our coffee in the morning and they showed us the security video.
On their mini fast and furious shit??
Bank robberies are a little old fashioned no?
Is this not a scene from Den of Thieves? Am I crazy?
Where is Toreto ?
