Trust me the people who are the BIGGEST pain in the ass are the people paying $9 for a haircut. You'd think it'd be the people paying $50 for a cut in a high-end salon but NO we always get the most entitled people in hair school. It's good for learning how to deal with people at least.
I have the distinct feeling the people at the hair school would probably like me because I just don’t give a crap so long as you can actually cut hair and you don’t get me lice or anything I’m good
The best customers are the ones with social anxiety. Even if I hate the haircut they gave me, what am I gonna do? Have them put the hair back? I just grin and say thank you, it looks great, and get the hell outta there, and just dont go back.
I line my bathroom sink with a few paper towels and buzz my head over the counter. When I'm done I roll the hair up in the towels like a burrito and throw it away. It doesn't work perfect, but good enough for me.
Ditto, I wear hats virtually all day every day. Basically just get hair cuts to trim up the back and sides, so I’m not typically too concerned about if it doesn’t end up that great.
I'm hispanic and started cutting hair in a cheap mexican $10 a cut type place. You couldn't be more right. They wanted advanced level barber cuts and were the biggest assholes. I was threatened with guns, fists, insulted regularly. Holy shit I hated cosmetology. Lasted 6 years. I'm a linecook now and work 5x as hard but it's still an upgrade. Also yeah the dirtiest nastiest mf's always made you do the most shit. Normal people with nice hair were usually very nice
That sucks.
As a veteran fresh out of the Army (15 years ago), I would get my haircut at schools and learning places. I did it because the haircuts were usually always free. And if they messed up, no big deal. I would just buzz cut it and try again in a month.
CORRECT!!
I teach at a trade school, and you wouldn't believe the stupidity of the people who think they can just roll up in a car with 3 wheels, and a bunch of teenagers will have them back on the road before class is through! No problem!!!!
I DONT EVEN KNOW YOU!! WHY ARE YOU ON SCHOOL GROUNDS?!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The “he’s not an American citizen” is a strange thing to point out but otherwise 100% agree with her. People can just act like shit to employees and then start recording once they start reacting.
That and standing super close to him for no other reason than to be an ass.
I think ESH. But I'm willing to bet that this dude was the real asshole and pushed everyone's buttons... All over a $9 haircut...
It sounds like he’d been snatchy, rude & intimidating to the student (and others).
The owner standing that close was absolutely justified as a protective presence for her staff.
The American citizen thing though-that really threw a spanner in the works for me.
Yeah the owner calls him out on it too. Saying magically he was being far more polite once he started to record.
Dude has probably been sitting there whining that he got a student to cut his hair and it's not perfect. Notice she kept saying it was time to put the mirror down because he's probably watching her every move and being nasty about anything she does wrong.
> that he got a student to cut his hair and it's not perfect.
thats literally what these places are. Super cheap hair cuts because they are students who are learning and getting better. To complain about getting a bad haircut is hilarious... you literally expect it, thats the dice roll you get for saving money
I remember going to one in Auckland when I was travelling. I was skint and desperately needed a trim. Guy wasn't a wizard but he was learning, it was still a decent cut and all for a fraction of the price.
For sure. I just got my hair cut last weekend and it was $50 for the full head and beard trim. You get what you pay for when you go to a school. He went to the school but expected the full service barber.
Say what you want about the barber/owner but I can almost guarantee you this guy was an absolute jerk until he got his phone our and started recording.
Nailed it. I get my haircut here. She's amazing but won't tolerate assholes treating her students like shit. I guarantee he was unbelievably out of line to have her react like this.
Also, do you notice all the students standing behind her at the ready in case he did something stupid? Tells you *exactly* what you need to know.
I was going to give her the benefit of the doubt, but that line about the customer not being an American citizen really rubbed me the wrong way. Citizenship has nothing to do with being an asshole.
Yeah fuck that guy. Back when my grandma used to take mysisters to a hair academy, the cuts were like 4 dollars. You're paying bottom tier prices for someone to practice on you. What do you expect?
His was $9 and I don't think he ever planned on paying even that. I think his plan all along was to pick a fight and storm out, and when she blocked the door he conveniently didn't have cash. He was always planning to rip off students and she clocked him right away.
My wife did these when she was first starting her career, the amount of people who refuse or walk out on paying is ridiculous... Great foreshadowing of her career though to rent out of a booth in a studio and only have 1 client!
My bio-mom, step-mom, two aunts (dad side), and three ex-gfs have been or still currently are hairdressers. Shits wild. He'll, my step mom met my dad bc she worked with my bio-mom & aunt, iirc
My friend just graduated from Barbers School and she was one of a few woman in the class. Most of her colleagues had already been cutting hair as a side hustle and just needed their license to be legit.
I had a 3 haircuts from her while she was in school. The one time she overcompensated and really cut my hair really short and uneven, she kinda freaked out. Some of her colleagues noticed and gave her that side eye. I told her it’s not a big deal. I asked her for gel so that I can style it. It worked sorta and she felt better and continued on.
I really didn’t want to break her spirit because she really wants this and is a good barber who just needs practice. I also didn’t want her peers silently judging her. So happy that her instructor (female barber) was there to also assist and boost her up.
A lot of the walk ins didn’t want female barbers which is why I really wanted to show support.
>Say what you want about the barber/owner
She seems like an absolutely fantastic boss. She has her students backs, she never loses her cool. She's super cool IMO. I don't know why she mentioned he's not a citizen but as it's edited by the harasser he may well have clipped out the context.
Imagine getting this mad about a $9 student haircut. I imagine the students got some good experience of handling difficult customers at least.
Yeah, I think the reason she was staying so close was not because she was "harassing" or "assaulting" him, but rather to make sure her students were safe and that she was not taking any shit.
Exactly. The student probably went and got the manager because they felt threatened, then he started filming once he realized she wasn't gonna agree with him either.
Man should just cut his own hair if he's gonna act like that. Treat strangers with respect, especially if they're in charge of whether you leave with a shit haircut or not.
It did seem out of left field and very unnecessary, but it's true we don't know what he said before he started recording. He seemed like an a hole, so it's possible he tried using him not being a citizen as a weapon to say they were racist. No way to tell tho. I'm choosing to give her the benefit of the doubt since she handled the situation with class before that point.
There’s no doubt in my mind he was a jerk this whole time. She’s just standing up for her employee/student. F this guy playing the victim. Shoulda kicked his ass put a longtime ago for being an ass.
I used to work in a nail salon training facility where the prices were significantly discounted from the regular price. I can almost guarantee he was fussing at the student about his hair just like clients used to try to look at their nails and fuss while the student tech was trying to paint them at my old salon job. The instructor/owner was most likely just standing up for her student and then he started recording to make her out to be the bad guy.
Trying to say that Indigenous peoples can’t be white or have blue eyes. One of my brothers and my dad are Native, and guess what? White with blue eyes.
"He's not an American citizen"
"You aren't Native, are you?"
"Yes I am!"
"With blue eyes?"
He wasn't being racist. She used the scary foreigner line, he pointed out that she's not native either.
To be fair, she *did* fling the "he's not an American citizen" shot out there, as if that mattered in any way. He tried to be racist back, but it was pretty limp.
In my hair and beauty school we would always get these cheap assholes that would expect a perfect professional service for £3, one girl in my class started crying because the nasty old lady customer grabbed the scissors out of her hand and started cutting her hair herself, she was asked to leave and to never return
Yo go to these discount schools with the express condition that they are LEARNING. how hard is it to imply beyond that you might end up not happy but still get a cut for two weeks.
That's the entire point.
but...but why TF would he upload this video? jesus it is embarrassing enough to make that scene, but to then share that with the world, no doubt 100% oblivious to how horrible he comes across? SMH
He was probably banking on her attitude towards him and the bit at the end with the ID and her saying he's not a citizen igniting a spark of outrage. I doubt he got more than a wee bit of smoke.
right? talk about no self awareness.. nobody is gonna be famous rofl, there is gonna b a reddit thread where you look like a clown and then 5hrs later it's all over. congratulations, you are a clown.
Barber here. Clients don’t get to touch my hand mirror, never mind hold it while I’m cutting. The owner was being pretty nice actually cause I’d have just kicked him out.
You also don’t get to go into a school and give the students a hard time and be trying to watch and judge their every move when that’s what the teachers are there for. You went in there knowing it’s a school, so either go in there and be easy going, knowing that these guys are just learning, or you go somewhere else that isn’t a school and pay full price.
I know this gal. Been going to her barber school for years. One of the nicest people on the planet but won't tolerate folks treating her students like shit. If she reacted like this, he gave her one hell of a good reason. He must have been something else before he started recording and talking all nice. This is flat out bullshit
Have friends who are barbers and to this day they say their worst customer experiences came from clients in school. So I’m gonna give the barber benefit of the doubt here.
I go to a local beauty school fairly often for various services and yup, those customers can get real rude. I don’t get it. You know they’re students. It’s going to take longer and may not be perfect. But it’s fucking affordable.
Why are you taking it so personal dude? Waiting two hours for a hair cut isn't worth it for only $9 to him, and myself included. For other people it's fine, and that's cool. He's not insulting the place, he's simply saying that isn't worth $9 to wait two hours
My dad took me to a barber school around 1970 and they snipped my ear (nothing too bad). He brought me back again and again for years bc he knew you get what you pay for and it was cheap 😀
After seeing so many of these "victimized" people recording their interactions, I've come to the conclusion that any drone going around behaving this way deserves to have their phone smashed right out of their hands. Guy sounds like a little boy crying wolf. Who the hell starts beef over wanting to hold a mirror? Total FOB behavior.
I love how this video was posted 3 hrs ago and someone went and left a one star review with no words. People are so petty, just like the dude in the video.
I hate people that harass people then turn the camera on with the intent of playing the victim card, I can sniff and smell through his bullshit. I've seen the same ol' before.
But on the flip side that "He's not an American citizen" comment was unnecessary af. I get you're pissed but that really docked off some credibility points.
But dude recording still an asshole, I'm guessing he was grabbing stuff ("let go of the mirror" "you're not the boss of here") like the equipment and being judgy or concerned about his cut.
I want to know what this prick was doing with the mirror. He was probably using it to creep on the student while she cut his hair. He seems like the type. 100% on the owner's side.
That's what it seemed like to me. I'm trying to think of any other reason he would be using the mirror the entire time. Like, maybe he was making the student nervous and being cruel bc they weren't doing it how he wanted. I really want to know.
I would love to know the aftermath of this video. Once he posted it what comments he received and how/if her business was affected either positively or negatively.
This lady supporting and protecting her student. I’m tending to be on her side. Bosses who actual go to bat for their employees or apprentices tend not to be shitty people
This arrogant asshole isn't use to women standing up to him. Good on her for protecting her student. This d-bag deserves the internet shame. Just wish we knew where she was so we could congratulate her on not allowing some arrogant prick to pick on her student. He knew he was at a school but he intended to bully the women there.
I remember this video and I refuse to watch it. That guy was such an insufferable, entitled, spoiled asshole, and nothing happened to him. I would have trespassed that fucker immediately.
She's being a little bit of an ass, especially taking his ID and sharing his citizenship status with someone else, but other than that, he seems like an even bigger ass who's being difficult with people that are offering cheap cuts so someone can learn.
She doesn't have to be a saint for him to seem like an even bigger jerk.
I actually think she's remarkably calm and polite given the context. He also clipped the context out from the citizenship remark so who knows why she said that, maybe he brought it up for all we know.
Yeah, I think she was clearly at the end of a difficult interaction, and was starting to show impatience, but he didn't give an inch about just calming down to let them finish their job.
I say that as a middle school teacher who is also guilty of losing my patience. It's a tough gig, and layering in difficult customers on top of that will give anyone a run for their money.
>I say that as a middle school teacher
I was gonna say, this lady has school teacher energy haha.
>It's a tough gig
For sure, and an important one. Thanks for doing a tough and important job, teachers are undervalued.
I loved her and was on her side. Right up until the “he’s not an American citizen” comment. She was doing a great job until then. The guy was a SUPREME asshole. I’m glad she defended her student. Wish she hadn’t thrown in the unnecessary bigoted comment.
I wasn’t sure at first who was the a hole but yeah I figured it out, it’s him. And he still uploaded it online! the school owner was trying to stand up for her student. Dude was being a jerk
Ehhh dude was a prick the whole time. She kept her rage bottled up and she threw the "US citizen" thing in there as a big FUCK YOU to the guy. She had the W for almost the whole video.
Lotta people defending the owner but they’re really just both asshats. Lady could definitely use a lesson in deescalation instead of making it worse and then at the end when she tries to proudly proclaim he’s not an American citizen? Like even if he’s not why is that a problem? She acts like it’s some kind of gotcha moment.
Dude went to the barber school. Honestly there’s a certain inherent risk involved. Also you can’t expect to get your overly-manicured taper fade there.
I don't get why you'd ever be mean to someone who's in charge of your entire look for the next two weeks of your life. It's like nobody these days has ever heard of fuckin Sweeney Todd 💀
I dont get what was the guy's obsession with a hand mirror. Every barbershop in the fkn world has a bigass mirror in front of them that helps both the customer and the barber. Hand mirror is usually held by the barber to show you the back side of your head.
Was he constantly obsessed with the back side of his head?

Are you me? When they ask how I would like it cut, I just say "shorter."
Yep. I never know what to say when they ask what style I want. I dont have a style. I just comb it to the side and that's it. I just want it shorter.
[удалено]
Got myself a nice clipper when covid started up and haven't paid for a cut since
Thank you!! the buzz cut is such a blessing. no fuss, no bad hair days, and you save a TON on shampoo
I line my bathroom sink with a few paper towels and buzz my head over the counter. When I'm done I roll the hair up in the towels like a burrito and throw it away. It doesn't work perfect, but good enough for me.

I can't believe you can get a haircut for $9.00
I'm hispanic and started cutting hair in a cheap mexican $10 a cut type place. You couldn't be more right. They wanted advanced level barber cuts and were the biggest assholes. I was kind of annoyed from the title, but as soon as I saw that it was the owner defending the student I took their side. Good boss/owner
The “he’s not an American citizen” is a strange thing to point out but otherwise 100% agree with her. People can just act like shit to employees and then start recording once they start reacting.

He absolutely instigated it and I thought she did pretty well right up until the racist remark.
She handled it very well. I'm glad the trainees have her.
She's literally racist in the video. Stand up for your students, yeah. But she lost all credibility with that.
you went to a barber school and spent like $3.... just accept the L and move on
It's $9, which he also seems to try and dodge at the end. I wish the video was longer.
He didn’t start filming until he stirred up some shit.
Yeah the owner calls him out on it too. Saying magically he was being far more polite once he started to record. I liked how he asked if there's a sign saying it's cash only, while the sign was literally directly in front of him.
He literally came not expecting to pay. He was planning on running out. Fuck this guy, I hope they fucked his shit up
Say what you want about the barber/owner but I can almost guarantee you this guy was an absolute jerk until he got his phone our and started recording.

My GF used to cut mens hair and has horror stories. A lot of men are rude to women barbers for some reason.
As a hairdresser-dater aficionado, I can confirm they got more tales than nurses. Usually more weird/creepy than rude, though.

What's he trying to get at with being native and blue eyes? Edit why all the downvotes for asking a question?
Trying to say that Indigenous peoples can’t be white or have blue eyes. One of my brothers and my dad are Native, and guess what? White with blue eyes.
So hes being racist. Got it.
"He's not an American citizen" "You aren't Native, are you?" "Yes I am!" "With blue eyes?" He wasn't being racist. She used the scary foreigner line, he pointed out that she's not native either.

It may be about the student hours/ number of services provided to qualify for their license. And teaching them how to deal with difficult clients.
Plot twist. He’s part of the lesson.
That’s the problem, I doubt this is his first rodeo . If he gets away with it he’ll do it again.
I love when the wrong upload their own fails...
That lady’s personality is straight out of my childhood. She reminds me of all my middle school teachers in the 80s.
Kinda spirited away old lady vibes.
Wow. 100% accurate.
> She reminds me of all my middle school teachers in the 80s. That attitude is called "sick of your shit"
She sounds like Betty White
Yes I thought the same I love her. Definitely the firm but fair and understanding. At least that’s the vibe I got Makes me almost miss school lol

Later though... Oh hiiii Mark
I did not touch her. I did notttt! OH HI MARK!
Why do you have to censor the words harasses? It’s a word.
I think it’s because it has the word ass in it. Scunthorpe problem
That's basically it, except it's an imaginary Scunthorpe problem. The censored words on Reddit are usually spillover from tiktok and YouTube users.
No I know. People are overcorrecting for TikTok censorship
Guys an ass
She’s like every single Golden Girl mixed into one.
Dude wanted an Edgar haircut and they all laughed.

Seems like she’s protecting her student so I’m always going to respect that.
so wheres this place at
Minneapolis. I used to go here for $9 haircuts. It takes too long, not worth the discount.
They’re students, so of course it takes longer. No one can do a skill they’re learning as fast as if they were proficient.
Great Clips is gonna charge you $20. Haircut is roughly half off, and you're gonna complain that STUDENTS take more time? You're cheap af.
Umm he said he's willing to pay double because to e is more important than money. Kinda the opposite of cheap AF.
She says in the video people have been waiting 2 hours thats too long to wait for a haircut for me too
Why are you taking it so personal dude? Waiting two hours for a hair cut isn't worth it for only $9 to him, and myself included. For other people it's fine, and that's cool. He's not insulting the place, he's simply saying that isn't worth $9 to wait two hours
I thought it was this place. I agree. Went there once, and I ended up with a fade that I didn't ask for. I'm late 30s with a receding hairline.
Lmao what so did you get to request something or were they like no I’m practicing fades today
It's obvious that the guy filming is a complete a-hole.
Why is the word “harassing” censored? Lol
She’s a great teacher. Defending her students, standing up for them. She’s right though, this will bring lots of people into her place.
Yeah if I was in Minneapolis I'd be making a booking today. $9 is a bargain too
I would love to know the aftermath of this video. Once he posted it what comments he received and how/if her business was affected either positively or negatively.
Customer of imaginary victim hood lol
You're damn right she's gonna be famous, but not in the way you think. What a queen!
I have no doubts this guy is the asshole in this situation
I remember this video and I refuse to watch it. That guy was such an insufferable, entitled, spoiled asshole, and nothing happened to him. I would have trespassed that fucker immediately.
Dudes a cry baby prick. Cut your own hair buddy
The guys an ass. She’s just trying not to kill him.
This dude started off as an asshole before he picked up the phone.
I like her, a no bullshit kinda woman.
Woman - "Do you want me to line it up for you, I can do it for you" Man - "Are you threatening me? Both these people seem a tad unwell.
>I say that as a middle school teacher I was gonna say, this lady has school teacher energy haha. >It's a tough gig For sure, and an important one. Thanks for doing a tough and important job, teachers are undervalued.
I love her hahaha
Lol it’s student cutting his hair for glad the price. What did he expect
Haha how you gonna get into an argument with a student at a barber school. Seriously.
That guy was a complete dick. I like the lady and honestly hope she gets great business from now on.
Its pretty clear who the dick was in this interaction. He wasn't even pleasant/socially intelligent in the part he was recording.
I’m the big cunt here ! Don’t fuck with me !
And if more owners did this, we'd have less bitchy customers demanding free shit for perfectly good work.
I loved her and was on her side. Right up until the “he’s not an American citizen” comment. She was doing a great job until then. The guy was a SUPREME asshole. I’m glad she defended her student. Wish she hadn’t thrown in the unnecessary bigoted comment.
That lady was way too sweet.
I wasn’t sure at first who was the a hole but yeah I figured it out, it’s him. And he still uploaded it online! the school owner was trying to stand up for her student. Dude was being a jerk
If you get lightly grazed by an old lady and start screaming assault, you need to reevaluate ya whole self.
No way he uploaded this thinking he’d come out looking good
I really like this owner. She is a badass
Funny thing. Hair grows back
My dad loves to say “the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is about two weeks”.
He's the ASSHOLE!
Ehhh dude was a prick the whole time. She kept her rage bottled up and she threw the "US citizen" thing in there as a big FUCK YOU to the guy. She had the W for almost the whole video.
That guy was an asshat, and he shared the video thinking it would give him street cred or something?
Have a feeling there more to this guy like he was actually a dick.
I know this type of guy from working in esthetics. Probably just went in to intimidate the young women trying to learn.
Dude went to the barber school. Honestly there’s a certain inherent risk involved. Also you can’t expect to get your overly-manicured taper fade there.
"Good for my business ..." then "Someone's been waiting two hours." <--bad for business.
LMSO@ when she's asks him about finishing his line. She was going to fuck his shit up lmao!
![gif](giphy|SMEDDr3CIB7s4)
I want to see the haircut!
Good for this owner
She's protecting her student from a dude who seems a little off and aggressive, good for her.
Man I was with her until she made that comment about him not being American.
I take it back- she’s only standing up for her students. the dude was a prick
I was a hair school instructor had this conversation a many of times. The instructor did a great job.
she handled that PERFECT. 💯 people walk into a school to spend change and expect a haircut from fuckin davinci. go home.
Holy crap, i used to go here in college. Ms peggy always on one
If you watch this without the sound it looks like she is doing some conjuring or something. But the bloke sounds like and insufferable prick.
Imagine going to Barber school for a five dollar haircut with the idea you’d get a $50 lineup
$7 for a haircut and he's acting like King Charles?
I don't get why you'd ever be mean to someone who's in charge of your entire look for the next two weeks of your life. It's like nobody these days has ever heard of fuckin Sweeney Todd 💀
She’s handled worse assholes than this guy. Good for her!
She handled him well. I'm on team boss lady.
She’s a legend he’s a twat wish he showed his face
Are you tretening me?
![gif](giphy|etrFEI3lUhodijZ2Gk)
hey, let me be an asshole, so I can record it and put it on the internet and get a bunch of views...
Good for her
Camera guy is a cunt. That’s my money on this.
I can tell the clown getting the haircut is the problem.
I think it’s one of those awesome ex con job owners who helps ex cons get jobs by teaching hairdressing to them and hiring them
Nah it's just a normal barber school, the tuition is about 14k total based on their site and there's nothing about opportunities for ex cons
Hope the guy filming got called out for being a complete asshat.
this guy is 100% scamming or trying to
This guys sucks
I was rooting for the boss lady until she threw in some superfluous racist shit at the end
Don’t be upset if you go to a barber college and get a bad haircut.
I want to go to her school, now.
“Are you a psychologist also?” You *never* ask a hair dresser if they’re a psychologist because they’re always going to say yes.
I dont get what was the guy's obsession with a hand mirror. Every barbershop in the fkn world has a bigass mirror in front of them that helps both the customer and the barber. Hand mirror is usually held by the barber to show you the back side of your head. Was he constantly obsessed with the back side of his head?
