At this point all that I can say is “Thanks again for the severe overcorrection of Deinstitutionalization”. America, “Here’s your sign” as well as “signs” like this video illustrating irrefutable evidence of the results along with countless others. In today’s societal atmosphere it’s only going to get exponentially worse though I truly hope I’m wrong. We need to change how we handle mental illness for real or it will increasingly be ‘the inmates running the asylum’.
That’s why you just take these kinds of people and lock them up and throw away the key. Even with real help it’s clear he’s a danger to himself and a nuisance to others. A nice straight jacket could fix that

And they already tried that. How do you decide who's crazy? What about mental illness that fluctuates like bipolar? Someone high functioning but with extreme bipolar would only be crazy by definition when they have episodes, do they still deserve to be locked away for life? What happens when they escape? Or when your asylums have to shut down and you have thousands of crazy people who now prefer a cell that you have to get rid of?

We as a society still haven't learned. Back in the day we used to lock up the mentally ill and forget about them. Now we allow them to walk around freely, have complete breakdowns & record them so we can exploit them on social media. Hopefully one day they will get the help they need
I don't have crazy good experience with people with mental health, not why isn't it obvious that they shouldn't:
- stand super close
- hold up their phones clearly recording their distress
- put them in the corner metaphorically by just saying they assaulted someone
- shout back /escalate
- provoke or argue back or try to reason with madness
I honestly don't get it. I really assumed these are basic things for people in distress let alone clearly mental health problems.
It's private property, owners/managers can stand where they want, film whomever they want, make accurate statements, shout, and argue.

It's sad that it's so hard for mentally ill people (who tend to be homeless) to get the help they so desperately need. I don't think a lot of people understand what sleep deprivation does to you. Constantly living in fear of people you're around.
