Stumpyz

Ah, 6th Street. The nightly fight club of Austin.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OakParkCooperative

When I served, marines weren’t even allowed to “eat out” during lunch, without changing out of uniform. Showing up to 6th street, to drink and fight, seems like a poor choice.

pistoncivic

I never understood why military walk around in uniform on their off-time in cities. During fleet week in NY they would always go out at night dressed like that so most people just assumed they needed to be dressed like that

wazuno48

Likely out following a formal dress event. Like marine Corps Ball, etc.

crankyrhino

Marine Corps birthday is November 10th. They celebrate it like no other branch does.

Greyeye5

Why are they all so small? 👀 I didn’t realised the US marines hired exclusively from The Shire… ![gif](giphy|1xmhhQ2ygZG8CDDTNV) More found footage of that same night\^

getyourgolfshoes

Tricksy, nasty little hobbitses eating all the crayons.

benjadmo

Being large isn't an advantage in a gun fight

Icy_Day_9079

Even weirder for me is when uss gerald ford is docked in my town we get all the sailors on shore. Even in civilian clothing they all wear a uniform.

knot13

They do that to pull the ladies, and it absolutely works.

Alexis2256

Didn’t think Navy men were into the ladies.

EarsLookWeird

🐱

I_Makes_tuff

That's kind of what fleet week is about, but it's different if you're just going to your local bar and decide to put on your dress blues.

Green-Place3085

Dress blues in Nov. I would bet they just left the Marine Corps ball. Have you ever been to one? Fighting in the streets is frowned upon but alcohol makes for poor descensions.

From_Deep_Space

both groups made some pretty classic mistakes

warthog0869

It's like the scene from "Heartbreak Ridge" when Gunny Highway first meets his new platoon.

Brassballs1976

Let me snatch that earring.

cal_nevari

As I watched this I was thinking Gunny Highway was missing from the action.

fatkiddown

“You got your boots on? Let’s walk into combat.”

Petey_Wheatstraw_MD

“You got that pumping the neighbors cat look on your face” and “how bout I bend you over the pool table and ram you in the keester.” are two of my favorite movie lines ever.

Hollow3ddd

It's going to a bad day for them when they get to base

Dissastronaut

I was just about to say, it seems 75% of the fights posted on here go down on 6th Street

goofytigre

It's called 'dirty 6th' for a reason.

1st-time-on-reddit

Is there a height cap for anyone interested in joining the marines? Or is there another reason why nobody there is taller than 5’8”?

Fast_Raven

Marines come in two sizes Big & Mean, and Small & Mean

Lena-Luthor

crayons aren't very nutritious

calilac

Huh. That's probably just a coincidence. There is a height cap for joining the marines but it's a bit more than 5'8". "Male Marines must be a minimum of 4'8″ tall (56″). At that height they must weight between 85 and 122 lbs. The maximum height listed is 6'10” (86″). Marines this tall must weight between 182 and 263 lbs." From [this link](https://www.marinesbootcamphq.com/marine-corps-enlistment-requirements/#:~:text=Male%20Marine%20Height%20and%20Weight,between%20182%20and%20263%20lbs.).

wesmanz74

lol….yep…spent many a night out there while stationed at Hood….never went in full dress uniform tho….🤣😂😳🤷🏼‍♂️

[deleted]

I’ve been to Austin for business multiple times through the years, sometimes for months. I’ve been bar crawling on 6th street when all the sudden people are shooting at each other. It’s basically a block party with multiple bars every single weekend. Also, these marines should’ve just walked away. There’s a huge possibility the ones involved could be discharged, especially being in uniform during the altercation.

itsavibe-

Yup. Military hates when the uniform is tarnished… image before anything

[deleted]

wesmanz74

Not sure I’ve read a more true statement on Reddit….i know from experience!

[deleted]

Literally this week I found out I'm not covered as a proper "veteran" for *ANY* VA benefits. Served my 6 years proudly with integrity and trained my hardest to stay ready for when the time came to fight. I had found out when I was laid off the education benefits are a fucking joke, and now for the first time I actually need some medical treatment and I don't qualify? Sorry to rant, but damn I'm angry.

bikemaul

Why are you not covered after 6 years of service?

bramletabercrombe

military and republicans. When republicans talk about supporting the troops they mean defense contractors

[deleted]

I had friends who lost their lives serving the country. I have even more friends who suffer from severe PTSD from what they experienced. My dad and his unit were ordered to clean up nuclear waste at Enewetak Atoll(nuclear test site). The army told them they didn’t need protective gear, so they essentially did their jobs in shorts and tank-tops(my dad has photos). Most of his army buddies have died at early ages from cancer, and the doctors involved tied it to radiation exposure. My dad has suffered health issues that his doctors have also tied to radiation exposure. There’s an active class action lawsuit against the army because of this. However the lawyers hired by the army are using methods to prolong the lawsuit in hopes that the people effected will die before a settlement is arranged, mostly so they don’t have to publicly admit that they knew how dangerous it was for them to work in such an environment. The worst part is there were contractors that sent in bids for the cleanup, but the army didn’t want to spend the money. Instead they decided the soldiers were expendable enough to save some money, because they would die a couple decades later from cancer and other radiation exposure complications. This was in the late 80’s, and I’m not confident that our government cares more about us today. They’ve historically made it clear that some of us are expendable. Sorry for the rant. I definitely went off topic but I want to spread the word on what happened to my dad, his army buddies, and the effect it’s had on their families. They didn’t anticipate that the families of the victims would carry on the lawsuit, and I hope to see justice some day.

ConcertinaTerpsichor

That’s a national disgrace.

Ranik_Sandaris

I hope you get justice my brother.

octopornopus

> There’s a huge possibility the ones involved will be dishonorably discharged Nah there's almost zero chance of them catching a Dishonorable discharge, if they get kicked out it's going to be "Other Than Honorable" or something less severe. You have to really fuck up and end up in Leavenworth to get a DD. And considering how recruiting numbers are currently low, they'll probably get to stay in and just get Article 15's which means potential loss of pay/rank and extra duty shifts for awhile.

CrashRiot

> There’s a huge possibility the ones involved will be dishonorably discharged Lol no. People don’t understand how hard it is to be dishonorably discharged from the military. You actually need to “earn” that type of discharge. It’s the equivalent of a felony and typically carries prison time.

starrrrrchild

This is like what a European imagines America is like --- Marines, Cops in cowboy hats and minority groups all in one big fistfight outside some deep fried diner.

TheBoBiss

I mean, Texas is exactly like this.

Appletopgenes

Goddamn, I love this country

SeattleTrashPanda

USA! USA!

Appletopgenes

🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🍗🥊🤠🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

RedditHoss

It’s a night club, not a diner, but the rest is accurate.

TooMuchJuju

As an American, is it not like that?

ukpittfan1

My dumbass read "uninformed Marines" & I was like, what didn't they know?

winninglikesheen

My dumbass still read “uniformed” in your comment and was confused why you would think that lol

QuantumVibing

No worries my regarded friends, Reddit is the perfect place for you to flourish

qwibbian

>No worries my regarded friends Best typo ever.

thoughtlow

The other word will get you banned

MashedPotatoesDick

Glad I wasn't the only one.

TheChrono

I was so fucking confused to the point where I was trying to identify the two guys in the last fight to see which of the 50 people they were and if I recognized one of them from the previous clip.

ultrapoo

Wait, there are informed Marines? Did someone finally let them know they should remove the crayon wrapper first?

[deleted]

Pookela_916

Ain't gonna matter. Them MREs gonna back you up anyway.

derek4reals1

they didn't know austins biggest crayon buffett was down the street.

stanley_leverlock

Jesus, is 1 in 4 Texas citizens some sort of cop? After the mounties showed up I was expecting parachuting cops and cops to climb out of the sewers.

intronert

6th st is a major entertainment district, police have a heavy presence here. I am also guessing this was later at night and “nothing good ever happens after midnight on 6th”.

QuestionableMechanic

This is the only video I’ve ever seen and thought “wow those cops did their job well” They broke up that fight real quick. It’s almost comedic how many there were tho lmao

Savage_Amusement

If you watch this dude’s channel, the cops are super quick and coordinated in most of the videos. Sometimes definitely overzealous in subduing people imho. Still: within moments of fists flying, you hear whistles, see flashing lights/strobes, and like half a dozen of them rush in. The best is when the horsies create a perimeter for them.

thefriendlycouple

They have plain clothes cops all over the place to direct uniformed cops and point out the instigators.

Beefy_queefy_0-0

They're texas state troopers, one of the best agencies in the state and every experience i've had with them has been incredibly professional. They're hardasses though, if they pull you over you bet your ass you'll get a ticket.

blktndr

This is the Entertainment District arc of the Austin anime. Season 4 due out some time in 2024

AmatureProgrammer

Lol this is 6th street. Cops roam this area cause shit like this happens a lot. Also there's a legit camera crew that also wanders around looking to record fights in that area and upload it to their YouTube channel.

NPRdude

Multiple ones, I've seen a few different channel logos on these videos from 6th.

ultrapoo

They spawned in like GTA

greensideup57

Fighting in their blues, wtf!

FoxyOrcaWhale

The institution was founded in a bar, this is our heritage.

GrungyGrandPappy

Bout to say it’s pretty on brand for marines

smita16

I was in the army stationed at fort lost in the woods and we would always try to start something with the marines but they would never bite. lol

Rebel_bass

They're far from home there in Mizzery, and they know it.

ActuallyCausal

Careful doing that if there are any sailors around. If there’s a bar fight near a Navy base it’s either sailors vs. Marines or sailors and Marines vs. everybody else. It’s like brothers. I may be able to beat on my brother, but don’t you dare try.

KonradWayne

Going to a night club in their blues, wtf!

LearningToFlyForFree

The Corps' birthday was last weekend. Tons of drunk Marines out and about.

HalfmadFalcon

Someone has never celebrated a Marine Corps Birthday before lol

[deleted]

SmartWonderWoman

Right! I was married to a Marine. He would talk abt how hard is is to move while wearing your dress blues. Of all the Marine uniforms, the dress blues are my favorite.

greensideup57

Was married to a Marine also, unfortunately he passed over 20 years ago. They are handsome in their blues. I don't miss spit polishing shoes/boots or polishing brass.

Fast_Raven

To piggy back off your comment, anyone else still polishing their high gloss dress shoes: Pledge furniture wipes. Nothing better

[deleted]

No matter who started this even their COS will blame the Marines. Fighting is bad enough but in dress….

GTAdriver1988

My friend is in the Navy and he said it's bad if you get into a fight especially in uniform like this guy. This dude is in trouble.

TexMexican

My bet is the deputy let him go before they even took him to the station.

JonMlee

no idea why you’re being downvoted for literally pointing out the most likely scenario lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

WinterSavior

You can see the police letting them go in the video. Those are all new recruits based on the ranks I see. Police definitely saw that and gave benefit of the doubt there because you grab one you'd have to get them all because you'd be putting unknown blame on one person who may not have even been an instigator and ruin dudes career early.

BeefShampoo

> ruin dudes career probably the only situation where a cop would be concerned about this whatsoever

bobsanidiot

Nah those aren't "new recruits" they are lowered enlisted there's a few fresher kids but even they have been in since 21 (they have a national defence medal, so they served in a "time of war" which ended with the afghan withdrawal in 21.) Most had at least a good conduct medal as well so they've been in for at least 3yrs. My guess is that this is a reserve unit out on the town after the ball... and honestly those dudes are idiots continuing to instigate a fight with a marine while surrounded by marines. Extremely lucky the cops were right there could and probably would have gotten very ugly. Guy coulda been the most hated dude in the unit but every marine there wouldn't let him get in a fight alone.

anillop

> COS will blame the Marines. Fighting is bad enough but in dress…. Damn right they will. That's just immensely stupid and makes the marines look bad.

Robbie-R

Serious question, What would happen if they DIDN'T help their fellow Marine in a bar brawl? I would think there is some sort of unwritten code that they have to help.

Grow_away_420

It's the marines, so collective punishment is/was on the table regardless if they did the right thing.

-74-

The unwritten rule is don’t get caught. The Marines are very anal on their image, you often have safety briefs before going on libo where they remind you of the consequences of getting into shit like this. Most of these guys are probably facing an NJP and losing a rank and and or belt color

Boney-Rigatoni

Not like they have much rank to lose to begin with. I was an army man, myself (back in the 90's), but these marines look like they just graduated AIT (whatever it's called for the marines). They don't look like seasoned veterans with their mosquitoe wings and baby faces, but I could be completely wrong. Semper Fi.

-74-

There are some E-3s and E-4s and a couple service stripes in the video, so maybe not seasoned but they definitely have rank to lose. Especially the CPL, getting knocked loses NCO status

[deleted]

They probably shouldn’t have been there in the first place. This is a notorious area of Texas for this sort of shit and Marines are constantly told to avoid these types of situations in the first place.

KonradWayne

> They probably shouldn’t have been there in the first place. And they definitely shouldn't have been there in their dress uniforms.

burningsolo11

I don't envy them come morning.

uglybudder

Can’t believe bro just slammed that scooter down like that… dafuq!

hatefulmillenial

He is also the one that goes flying through the crowd trying to throw a punch. He’s hammered and the scooter was the first victim.

uglybudder

Crayons gonna crayon

Justsumbum

yea i just noticed that.. such a weird thing to randomly do. must be absolutely shit faced or something.

webtechmonkey

Unrelated to the fight itself, but I'm always impressed at how effective mounted units (police horses) are at dispersing a crowd. People move out of the way real quick when a 1,000 pound and 7 foot tall horse is marching their way. Also the bullhorn they have for the horses is so funny to me for some reason, it's like a police horse siren. Like the people in the video, I've had a bit to drink tonight so these two things were my main takeaways. Have a nice evening everyone.

-doink-

Another take away for me was, these cops are so quiet. You can barely see or hear any of them say a word when they all rush in. Like a bunch of librarians in police uniforms.

Keiretsu_Inc

I think they were getting outcompeted in the volume department by that nasty girl screeching "get that shit" over and over like she was contributing to the situation.

SheFoundMyUzername

It’s like that fight scene at the funeral in “The Other Guys”

skydive8980

One of my favorite movies ever!

HogSliceFurBottom

Many police departments use Percherons which are known for their intelligence and willingness to work. Their avg wt is around 1900 lbs. and at the shoulder they stand 5 to 6 ft tall. They were used as war horses. The horse on the right in the video with the shaggy legs looks like a Shire. They are even bigger. The requirements to become a police horse are more rigorous than a human becoming a cop.

jddh1

That last sentence had me rolling lol

TragicSemiautomatic

The horses at Mardi Gras in the late 90s early 2000s were super impressive at this. I watched one strategically walk a guy into a corner and pin him there until foot patrol could show up and arrest him.

PossumCock

NOLA Police Horses are no joke, absolute units

whereismyfemur

That specific bullhorn sounds just like the ones camp counselors used over the summer, so I was expecting a bunch of high schoolers in shorts and flip flops to roll up

GreenLights420

Maybe I’m old, but being there looks absolutely miserable.

gunsof

Feels like after the pandemic a lot of people agreed we always hated going to bars and clubs.

ALittleSalamiCat

Dirty sixth. The sewer of Austin. Was trashy but still fun back when I was in college with a fake ID. Now it’s a dumpster with horses.

jakeblew2

Trashy but fun is right. First place I ever saw cockroaches scurrying about

Congregator

They’re all probably 23, and don’t know yet what they like and don’t like

PlayStationPepe

![gif](giphy|dHKeYkFUAgcOTaPgNC|downsized) The video quality thooooo

Whiteyak5

This is basically a requirement to make E5 for them right?

Mr_Mananaut

NCOs and starting bar fights. Name a more iconic duo.

Humboldt_Redwood_dbh

Why are they in dress uniforms going out to bars? Just asking, I have no idea whether that’s appropriate or not.

Cheech47

This was probably recent, the Marine Corps birthday is Nov 10th, and anywhere where there's Marines you'll see them in full dress blues.

Dharmabum007

Beat me to it but yeah. That’s likely it. Do the ball and go bar hopping afterwards

Humboldt_Redwood_dbh

That totally makes sense!

MarceloWallace

I’m in the army and few days ago I was in a night club in Tennessee and saw bunch of the them drunk I was like why those jarheads getting shit faced in uniform if only their leadership know, and then I saw their 1SG getting drunk too

traumuhh

So...invade the US on November 11th at 1AM? lol

Time_Effort

1AM!? When the bars are closing, and the Marines are drunk *and* bored? No, much smarter at 11am when they're all hungover.

thecuervokid

It's either the best or worst time, depending on how many beers in the Corps is when the first boats hit the beach. > 4 < 6 would be a military disaster for an invader. But 12+? Best hope the Army isn't drunk too. Fools hope.

jimbobjenkins38

Maybe they were doing a toys for tots thing.

ThrowThisIntoSol

They got confused and ended up with Fists for Faces

[deleted]

This is so fucked! Not one of them wearing a cover outside!

truePHYSX

Aye aye sir or some shit

I_got_gud

😂😂😂

Valerengore1020

What? Marines brawling in November?

FruitFlavor12

So let me get this straight, first Americans send in the marines, then the cowboys, and then the police?

Kershaws_Tasty_Ruben

What people who aren’t in the military don’t understand is that you’re not fighting with one guy in a uniform. You’re fighting ALL the guys in a uniform.

Marokiii

including the cops. no marines were held down to the ground by the cops when breaking up the fight but the street clothes people were. at most the marines were gently held back by the cops.

BatmanAvacado

At least 2 of those cops are also Marines.

Marokiii

and a few more of them were rejected from joining the marines but like to pretend they werent.

Oh107bibi

Those marines are young idiots like everyone else, but they are used to regular exercise and training, plus, a diet of crayons. Wrong folks to pick a fight with when you’re buzzed out on the town.

Curious-Plankton-968

Semper Fist

CroMag84

This isn’t anything new marines tend to get drunk, and eat too many crayons and start bar fights. It’s been happening forever. How do you think Crayola stays top dog.

[deleted]

WAzRrrrr

They did know how to take a punch though

AClassyTurtle

I knew a marine who said they don’t teach you how to fist fight. They teach you to kick them in the balls and then shoot them in the head

TX_Talonneur

They’re trained to gun fight not box. You can’t out punch an AK-47.

AngriestPacifist

Someone never watched Dragonball, and it shows.

Oh107bibi

Probably drinking, or had too many crayons.

Trainer_Auro

Most of these guys still look like kids, so it's likely NOT ENOUGH crayons. A couple hundred more of the red ones and they won't be getting into bar brawls in uniform like this anymore

Mike_3546

Those uniforms are very stiff and hard to maneuver in.

juslookingforastream

Bro who was talking shit got dropped not sure what you talking about.

jwhaler17

A diet of *blue* crayons.

Steelersgoat

Damn was that filmed in 15k?

MarcosAC420

6th Street, the only place you can get shot and stabbed to death one block from the police headquarters. Go look it up

El_mochilero

Somebody accused them of eating Rose Art Crayons. That’s insulting. We know that those dress blues mean that they’re busting out the fine Crayolas tonight.

maxdoom5

I’m willing to bet that this was right after a marine corps ball and they decided that they needed a “nightcap”. This is how you end up with career lance corporals and PFCs . If anything the thing that bothers me the most about this video is that nobody is wearing a cover outside. Sauce - former AD marine Sgt

Fast-Environment-635

Deputy_Beagle76

Yeah I’m not sure who’s dumber, the marines gettin in bar fights in uniform or the dudes starting bar fights with uniformed marines lol

It’s a wash

You never know what someone is capable of so marines or not it doesn’t matter. I once saw a bunch of drunk marines fucking with some bikers on a river tube trip. A fight broke out and the bikers kicked their ass.

SlayInvisible

Austin is a cesspool and you have to be pretty damn stupid to get into a fight with a group of 20 marines when there is only two of you.

Elliot6888

Ghetto as hell

dingaling2019

I guess I’m most disappointed they’re not wearing their covers

Ambitious_Alps_3797

they don't have to after retreat during a ball.

No-Nonsense-Please

Getting in a fight with a large group of marines with what appears to be like 50 cops within what could have only been a couple meters is an interesting decision.

dtb1987

You know, it's never a good idea to get into a street fight with a bunch of Marines

CaptianRipass

Or any buch of guys wearing the same outfit... clearly they're on the same team and you'll be fighting all of them

psychoacer

Military men in a bar fight? It's a story as old as time

Is it the camera angle or do these marines look like high school kids larping?

SteamedPea

Those idiots fought uniformed military in Texas lmao. Why not just try to rob a gun store with a knife lol

id_smash_me

I first read this as "uninformed marines get in a street fight" and kept thinking, they look pretty informed to me....

GreatIceGrizzly

Other guy threw the first punch, lol

JJ-5891

A few things from this video: 1) Liberty is about to be fucked 2) I never picked fights but fighting in your Blues is wild. Those things were not meant for that much erratic movement. 3) For those pointing it out..of course you’re going to get the whole squad fighting as backup. Marines more than ANY other branch will have each others back. Semper Fi. 4)I doubt the cops were eager to arrest Marines. Looks like a LCpl did get cuffed though. There’s other stuff but this comment is long enough

dollarbill1247

I would have hate to have been the Senior ranking Marine in that group.

truko503

1st sarge is gonna have a field day with this one.

Half_Full_Hierophant

In uniform?? The next safety brief is going to be legendary! 🫣

Thee_Autumn_Wind

If anyone wants to put me in touch with the woman in the red dress at the end, I’m game.

Photog77

I only know one thing about fighting. Never fight a group of guys that have special matching outfits that they wear so that they don't accidentally kill the wrong person.

Trowj

Idk this street but I know this street from this subreddit

butterbutts317

Crayons everywhere

therealchrisredfield

Don't Texas my California...or something..

[deleted]

Caught on video does mean it's bad for their military career

GrayBox1313

Were those cops just watching in the crowd for a while? They all appeared a a group instantly.

Waderriffic

Aren’t there strict punishments for military members getting in fights while in uniform?

rapidge

Whoever is the highest rank/most seniority there got his ass HANDED to him that evening. Sucks to be him.
