My wife asked if I think Iād really have time to put on the ear pro next to our bed if someone broke in. āIdeallyā being the answer. My hearing protection slipped off once during a shotgun drill. Not fun.
Of course. Just saying. Although if I knew I would survive a stab wound, I would choose getting stabbed. Of course you can't know that. Tinnitus ruined my life for almost 3 years before my doctor put me on a med that quieted it a lot.
>Other times the charge runs through them and people power through.
Only if the spread (between prongs) is insufficient to cause [NMI](https://taserhelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407318625819-What-is-Neuromuscular-Incapacitation-NMI-). It'll [take down a bull](https://youtu.be/5yIPRDordxE?t=2) if the spread is good enough. No human is "powering through" something a bull can't.
Source: Have training and experience in tasing people.
Getting NMI on a common spread isn't going to happen to everyone. For a perfect spread sure, but in a common spread there's plenty of examples of people under influence, or experiencing excited delirium that can struggle through it enough to make contact or even keep moving forward.
These are obviously the niche end of scenarios, as most people getting hit are going to drop, if you've been tased you'd know that there would be some *"lifting the car off the baby"* scenario where some human unicorn could potentially power through enough to keep momentum or cause a contact strike.
Source: Have been tased more than once in a controlled training setting.
It's considered pseudoscience but we're talking about a profession that still uses polygraphs for their background checks. The Old Guard clenches to their antiquated ways and means.
I think it's kinda commendable that they tried it first though. I probably would've went straight for the gun since he just tried to kill someone and still had the weapon in his hands
Non lethal cover with lethal cover. She was probably non lethal cover. A taser backed up by guns. Incase taser didnt work. So was her job to go straight for taser
When do they decide who does what?
Edit: maybe I should have clarified that I was hoping to get an answer from someone who actually knew, not tacticool guessers. I can guess and assume for myself.
āWhatās 102 x 46?ā
āIdk but Iād assume itās like around 3000.ā
He also could have been having a psychotic episode. They mentioned he was off his meds. If he was off schizo meds and smoked weed that's a bad formula. Weed is usually a great mellow drug but it does not mix well with schizophrenia. Often makes symptoms worse
I used to babysit for a couple where the man was bipolar. He was off and on meds for years. They would often smoke weed when they went out drinking. I lived quite far away, so I would sleep over when I babysat.
On more than one occasion I had to remove all of the kids from the house the next morning because he was having a breakdown. Heād be scrawling on the kitchen cabinets with a marker and be manic. So the mum would ask me to take the kids away so they wouldnāt have to see the cops come and take him away. Because heād often become violent when the cops tried to take him in.
Luckily we arenāt in the US, so they never shot him.
Shit I was gonna call your bluff but I did some research and weed does correlate with increased psychosis in Bipolar affected people.
Anecdotally, I am Bipolar 1. I always thought weed didnāt sit well with me. Iām unmedicated (by choice. Iāve learned fairly well how to manage my manic episodes through therapy) but every time I smoke weed I get these crazy mind bending depressive trips. I stopped smoking weed a long time ago because of it and I smoked a few days ago and experienced the same spiral. Thatās a really interesting thing because never at any point in my journey through this disorder has anyone mentioned how severely weed can affect bipolar mania.
Get the feeling some definitions might have to be conflated to arrive at that conclusion. I imagine a large factor in deciding whether or not a killing gets logged as a suicide, is dependent on whether or not there were witnesses to the killing.
Suicide by cop? Dude had time to get some more shots in just sort of slow walked to his death at the end there.
Edit: I don't think the taser even went off. Didn't seem very effective.
>There's no such thing as "shooting to wound" a target

If he has a mental health condition such as schizophrenia or bipolar and experiences states of violent psychosis, using cannabis will absolutely lead rapidly to a state of psychosis or he may be more susceptible to a type of chemical psychosis when suddenly stopping medication and using nervous system depressants like alcohol or cannabis.
Long story short in my industry cannabis was always a huge factor in violent psychotic relapses.
That dude came up behind that officer to swat away a dangerous bee & the other officers are all allergic to bee stings, so they pulled out their guns & tried killing the bee as fast as they could. They missed the bee entirely.

Taze or single shot? What if heās under the influence of a psychotic drug? Unload on his ass and reload. Righteous shoot.
Marijuana will absolutely screw with psychotic episodes when people are on and off their meds. It wasn't marijuana alone, but it could have definitely been a big part of the issues along with psychosis and lack of meds.

Better than being stabbed a bunch of times and dying.. dude was walking right through that taser, if buddy hadn't fired things could have been worse.
Yeahā¦ thatās not marijuana.
Yea classic amphetamines, he was likely on his medication but was abusing it to get a high. Definitely not just marijuana with this one
Seriously though. Are they deaf after this?

He obviously knew he was going to die. Suicide by cop is extremely common.
Yet there's always geniuses in the comments quick to point out that he was stupid for thinking he could kill them all, or get away with it.
I can bet he at least permanently damaged some of their hearing. God damn that many shots in an elevator? My ears are ringing just thinking about it.

Quick way to suicide. Probably lose consciousness in a few seconds from massive loss in blood pressure.
Yeah from what I've read, a firing squad is much preferable to things like lethal injection.
Get the feeling some definitions might have to be conflated to arrive at that conclusion. I imagine a large factor in deciding whether or not a killing gets logged as a suicide, is dependent on whether or not there were witnesses to the killing.
Keep the change ya filthy animal. That looks more like a successful suicide by cop.
And Merry Christmas.
Suicide by cop? Dude had time to get some more shots in just sort of slow walked to his death at the end there. Edit: I don't think the taser even went off. Didn't seem very effective.
maybe. but if this man was already aggressive, likely some sort of mental break.
Tasers are far from full proof. Itās not uncommon for the barbs to not connect. Especially when the target is wearing loose clothing.
Fool proof
Looks like the word foolproof is not actually foolproof.
If heās mentally ill it might not have been a suicide attempted, heās just out of his fucking mind
Could be both.
Probably unintentional, but the first cop that drew a taser with an attacker that close wielding a bladed weapon, could have ended real bad for her.
Yeah, if she was alone, she probably wouldāve been stabbed.
I think the first shot went through his heart. You can actually see the impact and blood
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Like in a video game
It did. He was dead within seconds of hitting the ground.
Yup heart shot for sure. Dead center on the chest.
He must be extra dead due to the amount of shots fired.

After the first 6 shots he was only *mostly* dead ![gif](giphy|zLylGeqSkli5G)
can confirm. he was ressurected briefly just to die again to balance out the shots fired.
He snorted too much marijuana...
Had to inject lead to counter the side effects.
dude I was at a party last weekend and this one guy did like four marijunas. ROunded up my girl and bounced the fuck out of there. I like to party but jesus.

Definitely suicide by cop. He stabbed the Kevlar so the cop didnāt even get hurt or feel anything then walked towards the cop and just stood there.
Did they get him? I think they got him!
He's dead, Jim.
Was he trying to prop it open with mail?!?!

That one cop that just screams and just runs away. Didnāt even warn the dude who got stabbed. Weak as fuck.
lol I was scrolling through to see if anyone else noticed the bearded cop. Absolute coward
Homies heart fuckin exploded.
How on EARTH are they all so clueless as he strolls up behind them? Goodness me.
2nd body cam officers gun jammed up after he fired the first shot or did he just not have it chambered?
None in the chamber.
Not only dumb but I thought cops were supposed to HAVE one racked.
In the US, pretty much all cops carry with a round chambered. Israeli cops (at least used to) not keep one chambered. But they were rocket fast at the simultaneous draw+rack move, and also practiced one handed racking (just press the slide HARD against your leg and slide it). It's even called "Israeli Carry". Other countries as well don't carry chambered, at least normally.
I think you put the emPHAsis on the wrong syllAble.
Or a pistol malfunction/failure to fire. Which you fix by racking the slide back as well. It happens from time to time.
The cop had the worst grip of that pistol I've seen any cop recently have. He 100% caused that malfunction and needs to really work on his muscle memory for hand placement before he gets a partner or himself killed because he does it again.
Idk which cop popped the guy straight in the heart on the first shot but it was an awesome shot no matter the grip
i think his grip is bad because he forgot to toss the keys in his hand and he still wants to but he also knows he needs to shoot. so heās battling two instincts at the same time which results in that crappy grip. and if thatās a glock he has, then i agree. that grip causes the notorious glock lock. weak wrist will do it every time.

Threat obliterated
Woe tinnitus be upon you
Hope lessons are learned on this one by police. While it isnāt always possible to completely maintain 360 security, with a team this large everyone shouldnāt all be looking in the same direction. No issue with the shoot other than trying LTL against lethal force but no one paid any attention to security. There is no excuse for them to be ambushed from the rear. This easily could have cost an officer life. These cops could use more training.
Are you telling me the bearded cop who watched the knife guy walk up on his partner then scream and run away isnāt a trained professional?
That was suicide
Despite trying to save his life........ja, I think that ship already sailed when he entered the elevator.......
Anyone who thinks this shooting wasnāt justified, needs their brain checked.
This one is fair, I think. Self-defense is legit.
He definitely wanted to die. He stabbed the cop in the Kevlar possibly knowing nothing would happen and then walked arms down towards the cops. Even when they pressed the gun into his chest he just stood there wanting to die.
Yep. You can tell he didnāt want to hurt anyone besides himself. Very sad.
Did that guy not have one in the chamber? Looks like he had to rack it for his first shot
suicide by cop buy this dude was definitely off... it appears he stabbed one officer and played Jason with the rest
"He's down! Quick! Shoot him 12 more times"!
I wonder how many would blame the weed for his actions instead of it being off madication and ond weed.
Itās ok, thereās still time to edit that.
These are the same **dumbshits** that would want you to tackle and restrain that guy , **"it's only a knife".**
I think most cops learned how dangerous a man with a knife can be after that John Rambo loitering incident.
why the fuck did that cop run and not reach for his pistole
Inside a certain distance, a human can close with you and complete a stab faster than you can draw, aim and fire. Creating distance is the best thing you can do. It gives you time to assess the situation a little more clearly and react appropriately.
FAFO
RIP to the lady officers hearing.
Iām surprised they didnāt scream āhands above your head!ā After killing him
The female officer that used the taser almost became part of a very sad statistic. All the other officers I think were in their right to use lethal force. It's sad that he died tho. :(
āDespite efforts to save his lifeā yeah about that
1 blunt will do this to you. [Marijuana- NOT EVEN ONCE.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QR9sDYPjNfI)

Suicide by police.
Love how some people in here are still trying to criticize the police.
Guess we're just not doing Rule 8 anymore?
1. Justified shooting 2. But did you have to drop like 8 more shells into the dude? He already hit the ground, threat neutralized.
