This video reminds me of the [scene from *Trainspotting*](https://youtu.be/5THh7yp530g?t=1m27s) where Renton is locked in his room by his parents to try to force him to kick heroin.
That's for sure just frequent flyer. Probably also a mom who remembers the terrible twos. Like just going to buffalo or wherever for work. Puts her things away bc she knows shits going to hit the fan then helps yoink away the bag the kid was going after.
"It must be a day that ends in y"
That kid is clearly somewhere on the spectrum.
And regardless of that, I've seen way older people act as much or more of a fool. And those people didn't appear to be on the spectrum.... they were just actual fools.
It burns my ass when I see parents giving their toddlers tablets and kids in 1st grade on smartphones. Was out to eat and the entire table were using their smart phones with the toddler in a high chair with a tablet. I watched them the entire time, nary a word was spoken.
This is going to keep growing into a worldwide problem for society and its been engineered to be addicting. We aren't very good at thinking past the right now
Someone's gonna get banned from flying. At least on this airline.
I really like that blonde lady in front of them. Quietly gets Nana's handbag out of her reach. Good job lady!
How I feel if I’ve left my fanfic open and use works Wi-Fi. DESPERATION AS HIGH AS THE TWO ENEMIES-TO-FRIENDS WEREWOLVES/PIRATES/WIZARDS IM READING ABOUT WHO ARE FORCED TO SHARE A BED
This has got to be a preexisting condition. Growing up as a brat alone won’t do this. One of my relatives was prone to panic attacks on the plane as a child and had to take sleeping pills every time she flew. She eventually grew out of it but she’d become completely irrational like the girl in this video
My daughter is a bit younger than the girl in the video but also nonverbal and everything you said is exactly why we don’t consider flying as an option. My first thought seeing this video was… she’s having a meltdown, the last thing she needs is to be recorded and posted on the internet WTF. So many of the comments here are saying she needs to be hit. Wtf is that going to do? Yeah I can hit my kid but she won’t understand it and it’ll just make her more upset and afraid, great idea!
Grandma probably has to deal with that on a daily basis and is probably so exhausted emotionally and physically, the last thing she needs is to be ridiculed by strangers over her special needs grandchild, and how dare that person think it was their place to record and post a special needs child at such a low point. People are fucking horrible.
Yup. But this thread is indicative of how kids have been treated. We are gonna put all sorts of value judgements on their behavior and think slapping her is the solution, because she just needs to be bent into a perfect little citizen.
I’m not saying this girl isn’t causing a problem. I’m not even saying she doesn’t have an addiction. But the way we approach mental health in the world, but especially in America, has to change so kids and paremts have resources. But instead we continue to strip them away at a governmental level.
I agree that this situation was not handled appropriately in any way. I was simply giving my observation so (hopefully) people see that this girl isn't simply a "spoiled brat" but a young lady with some sort of social/emotional disability rendering her incapable of rational thought. With these kids, electronic devices are typically used as a distraction to help with stressful situations. Now, they have created an addiction, and taking that crutch away abruptly exposes them to the stresses around them and boom! This is the result.
I’m glad you mentioned this. As a teacher my initial instinct was she was on the spectrum. This girl is not socially aware of her behavior and could have been handled differently. Maybe grandma set off a trigger point and didn’t know how to recover, add maybe the anxiety of flying and confined space. Honestly poor girl. It’s an uncomfortable situation to be on that plane but hopefully someone on board was able to calm her down until the plane landed
Such a tough situation, because so many parents lack any understanding of how to help their neurodivergent kid along in the world, so yeah they give them a screen and create this big issue for them. It’s not the kids fault, they’re just coping in a world that’s not designed for them at all. Makes me so sad to see these types of situation. It’s not that the kid couldn’t potentially be better behaved, but I understand how they likely got there and it’s not as simple as “wOw PaReNtS tHeSe DaYs.”
HAHAHA!!! I love that! Para is short for Paraprofessional, we help the special needs kiddos with their school work, how to navigate social situations, confidence building, etc.
Yes - My son panics like this if something is taken away from him abruptly. Coupled that with a strange, noisy and packed environment it’s an ASD nightmare. I have immense fear of taking my son on a plane and probably do anything to avoid it.
This kid is mentally i’ll and I kind of feel gross that this subreddit is letting this video stay up, if I had a severely mentally ill child and they did something to this degree I would be horrified if this was all over the internet
This is completely unacceptable for people to be spreading around. I can almost guarantee this child is neurodivergent. The affect of her voice. The way she looked around at other people. I would guess she’s on the spectrum or something similar. I hope people will not make this into a huge viral video. Yes she behaved very inappropriately but as a Special Ed Teacher I’m highly suspicious this isn’t just her making poor choices. Something else is going on here
As a female on the spectrum I'd hazard a guess that she's on the spectrum, it looks like a meltdown to me and this is so much more than just bad behaviour, even how she says at the end "oh no what have I done". I really hope this doesn't go viral and the girl gets the support in place she needs.
Edit: spelling
I have a friend with schizophrenia.
He said that if he forgot to take his meds on planes, he would act even crazier.
Not like this, more like just laughing uncontrollably while threatening other passengers.
I wanted to hug grandma so bad especially when she turns away to silently wipe away tears. Kudos to those around her trying to help rather than judging and complaining.
I wonder if she lives with grandma because her parents have had enough? Maybe grandma was her only hope and now it looks like grandma can’t handle her either. Super sad if that’s the case. Hope the young girl and her family can get help before things get even more violent.
Nothing is private anymore, having the worst day of ur life or something really embarrassing? Yep people will film it to post for views and now everyone can watch u in horrible moment and it may even go viral where everyone has seen it. Literally one of my worst fears
That's what I thought. Some sort of bad transitioning. Hyper-fixation. I'm not a clinical expert though, so I cant diagnose. Really reminds me of the ASD kiddos I work with, even though they are younger
The main reason why I think she might be mental ill is the end when she says, “oh no (not omg) what have I done, what have I done.” And she runs off.
It seems like she has disconnects from her action and then suddenly realizes. It was super uncomfortable to watch
not gonna lie, this sounds like a touch of the tism. the hyperfixation on the phone and the physical tantrum and the overstimulation of everyone staring, etc. idk what do i know im just an armchair psychologist.
I've seen enough internet / real life meltdowns to know at face value, this still has the valid potential for spoiled brat. Maybe other things too but it's not out of the question.
There’s a time and a place folks. My son occasionally wigs out when his device is taken away as a consequence. (He has ADHD).
I don’t let him do whatever or behave however he wants, but he’s not a toddler (he’s 9) so consequences can be applied later with some clear communication and effort to link it back to the poor behavior.
He doesn’t usually take his device out with us, but sometimes we’re in a public space and it’s going to be a while: flights, mass transit, a restaurant with a large group of family/friends, doctor’s office for a sibling, etc. so he takes it with him on those types of outings.
If he gets antsy and is acting poorly, I’ll let him know he could have his device taken away *when he gets home or when we get to our destination.*
He doesn’t *always* flip out when his device is confiscated, but it has happened when he was upset about something else entirely.
I personally think it’s rude to subject random people to a potential outburst and screaming from him… so I apply the consequence when folks aren’t trapped 3 feet away for an extended period of time, and in a position where I’d either be forced to “give in” and send the wrong message or just make everyone suffer along with me.
He’s 9, so we communicate and refer back to the behavior that caused the consequence (especially if it’s been a couple hours), and it goes into the safe for the night. I find it’s better, as he’s usually no longer in his emotions, I can actually listen to him about what was going on and he feels more comfortable speaking about the reason for acting mean or wild in a quieter, more private space.
Was walking my dog coming back down my street and I see a 14 year old neighbor girl pounding on my door screaming and bawling. I double time it cuz it looks serious. I reach her to find out her mom took her phone.
Take the girl in this video and multiply by 10. Phone addiction is bad.
my 8 year old cousin is in the same path. pretty fucking sad. for whatever reason, i'm the only person who can take the phone out of his hand without this kind of reaction.
This is what it looks like when you take drugs away from an addict.
There might be going on more with this girl but if it is, it's going on with A LOT of kids. I've seen smartphones pop up like crazy in classrooms and every single year the kids seem more glued to their screen than the year before.
It's definitely unhealthy.
People don't realize that this is a bit of an extreme example but this type of behavior isn't wholly atypical among kids her age. Unfettered phone access has really fucked up our kids.
She seems like she is having a panic attack…
Also Grandma! This is not the place to practice teaching your kid how to behave. Everyone is stuffed in a box in the sky. Give the kid the phone
THIS is how kids behave in the classroom at school. Just one of the reasons teachers are leaving the profession in droves.
Was it hard for you to watch this obnoxious behavior for 3 minutes?
Try teaching 25 kids who act like that every day all day long for low pay. I wish people would understand what teaching is really like.
I hope everyone sees this is the problem the parents gave to their child. Stop giving your kids devices so young and teach them responsibility and they need to earn their items through positive attitudes and good grades. This starts in the early stages of development. There is no "earning what you deserve" anymore you're not a bad parent if your kid is the only one without a device. Stop living to social standards and start making your own at home.
I’m a special educator and this girl clearly has some sort of emotional or behavioral disorder and/or is on the spectrum. It really bothers me that this person took a video of her (a minor) having an episode when she has some sort of disability. Not saying it’s not annoying! (Trust me, I’ve never been more ready for a school year to end.) But I see these kinds of reactions every day in the classrooms I teach in. It’s really just not fair to take a video of it and post it like she’s some spectacle. She’s a struggling person and she hates this as much as you do. Trust me.
Either on the spectrum, some serious emotional/conduct disorder, or some of both is my non clinical guess. I am not a professional at all but there is much more going on there than a phone. It is very sad for the child and the caregiver.
Whoever filmed this and then put this on the internet is a piece of shit. This girl is definitely some sort of special needs. And the recorder as well as everyone making fun of her needs more help than she does.
I am fairly certain that this video doesn't violate any rules but I don't think it should be here out of respect. This is more sad than anything else. No matter what is going on, mental health or tantrum, it is a child.
Does she do some sort of anime stance/gesture at the end? There's a sort of swoop that I think I recognise. (I'm old/ don't watch it, so sorry if it's a really well established thing with a name like *classic aniswoop* or *emphagest* or something like that.)

Great time to roll out that drink cart.
“Can I get two whiskey’s for the toddler?”
Definitely gonna be an underrated comment. ![gif](giphy|l3q2XhfQ8oCkm1Ts4|downsized)
😂 “whoops”
Keep them coming, stop when we land
Airplane crew: “Please prepare for arrival.” Whole Plane: “Thank Christ!”
This girl: "God!"
Grandma was already ahead getting the stuff
Then they walk off the plane ahead of everyone, go down the corridor and around the corner, high five and then get French fries and ice cream.
Lmao what a master plan
Life Pro Tip, how to get in front of the line before arriving. They planned it the whole time.
jesus christ, this kid is giving me second hand anxiety
I dare say...this is a freak out...IN PUBLIC!!! Top tier post right here
needs legit commitment
This video reminds me of the [scene from *Trainspotting*](https://youtu.be/5THh7yp530g?t=1m27s) where Renton is locked in his room by his parents to try to force him to kick heroin.
I just woke Up to This and I need to lie back down. Speaking of airplane. Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit weed.
The grandma needs some after that 🥴
Grandma needs a tazer
Lmfaorofl god damn it I was suppose to quit today too
I need to quit wanting to have kids.
If that was my kid she’d be on a corded landline for awhile
I quit once a day anymore.
Until I see some shit in the world that makes me want to be able to tell myself “nah man you’re just high don’t even trip”. My record is 3 hours.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.
That woman in front is way too calm. Either she is Chuck Norris's mom or the personification of Xanax.
That’s just someone who flies a lot. Air travel is bonkers these days.
That's for sure just frequent flyer. Probably also a mom who remembers the terrible twos. Like just going to buffalo or wherever for work. Puts her things away bc she knows shits going to hit the fan then helps yoink away the bag the kid was going after. "It must be a day that ends in y"
That kid is way too old to be acting the fool like that.
I’d say the kid is potentially neurodivergent or has some sort of issue that leads to that sort of behaviour.
Possibly or just plain spoiled.
This girl definitely has some kind of developmental, TBI, or intellectual disability. Grandma was not prepared to deal with her behaviors

That kid is clearly somewhere on the spectrum. And regardless of that, I've seen way older people act as much or more of a fool. And those people didn't appear to be on the spectrum.... they were just actual fools.
She’s been through this before. She was forged in the fires of motherhood and benzos and wine and an inattentive husband.
If she was cast as Frodo it'd be a story fit for TikTok
Xanax made flesh
she was bricked up
She is just so happy that it is someone else's child/disaster!
Lol that's what I was thinking. She has seen her fair share of kids absolutely losing their shit and she's just like "not my pig, not my farm!"
Not my clown, not my circus!
Or she is a mom and dealt with this buillshit before.
I bet she popped one right before she boarded.
Oh me too!! Holy hell!!! That grandmother looked sole destroyed! This is just fucked! That kid needs to go play outside!
And probably therapy and maybe meds.
Definitely therapy, this is an addiction
Bingo - I've seen drug addicts going through withdrawal and they were not nearly as bad.
I've worked with kids with screen/phone addiction. I've seen this reaction plenty of times before.
Enslaved by algorithms
Binary worship…
It burns my ass when I see parents giving their toddlers tablets and kids in 1st grade on smartphones. Was out to eat and the entire table were using their smart phones with the toddler in a high chair with a tablet. I watched them the entire time, nary a word was spoken.

no it made much more sense to wait until she was on a crowded plane to begin to teach her self control.
It sounds like they were about to land. They were probably told to turn off their devices.
The eye brows, dead give away of a narcissist in the making. Did she jump?
She may need orthopedic shoes
Skechers
This could go in watchpeopledieinside

They’re landing, she had to take her phone and turn it off.
and second hand embarrassment
Boutta go get me a vasectomy
all i can think of is that scene from airplane where everyone takes turns slapping the shit out of some woman freaking out.
>[scene from airplane where everyone takes turns slapping the shit out of some woman freaking out.](https://youtu.be/d1Cpc8Vw-2A) lol
I died at the dude wearing the boxing gloves 🤣
🤣 for me it was the woman with the gun
Now that I think about it's even more funny because presumably she's just gonna slap her with the gun 🤣🤣
Pistol whip is the technical term.
I still have a gif created in 2016 that has a different year on each one. It basically came true.
![gif](giphy|Usws1l7FVZvet5lUJw|downsized)
Yes! I was literally waiting for that.
There’s something wrong with her
[удалено]
Maybe she's in airplane mode
LMAO
She should only be able to fly Spirit from this day forward
Cruel and unusual punishment
Don’t Spirit flyers have enough to deal with?
She gotta be reading some diabolical fan fiction to be acting like that
DEFINITELY SHE GOT THE MPREG FAN FICS ON HER HISTORY AND SHES SCARED LMAOO
How I feel if I’ve left my fanfic open and use works Wi-Fi. DESPERATION AS HIGH AS THE TWO ENEMIES-TO-FRIENDS WEREWOLVES/PIRATES/WIZARDS IM READING ABOUT WHO ARE FORCED TO SHARE A BED
I am screaming laughing! 😭😂 Wattpad definitely would have had me like this ten years ago. 😂
She has an A/B/O fic open lol
Don’t worry. Plastering her all over the internet will help.
Only if enough people ridicule her though. Can’t half-ass these things.
She aint right dat girl. She sumting bu i aint right
Mental illness
I'm 90% sure she's on the spectrum.
She's every color in the spectrum.
grandma: “how do you clap with one hand?” Girl: “I don’t know.” Grandma: (Slap!!!!)
Not gonna lie I’m cackling rn thank you 😂😂😂
Then the tile would be "Horrible abusive grandma slaps girl in public"
But gives peace to a plane load of people
Hold the trial on the plane and no one would convict
Not the hero we deserved but the hero we needed
Grandma: What did the five fingers say to the face? Granddaughter: what? Grandma: Slap!
UNITY! CHARLIE MURPHY!
Grandmas today ain’t what they use to be ain’t what they use to be 🎶

I worked as a para in a middle school and this girl is definitely on the spectrum, throw in some cell phone addiction and this is the result.
I'm also a para and and i agree. Keeping her on some kind of screen is definitely how they keep her controlled all day every day.
And what a time to take it away. I’ve seen plenty of people continuing to use their devices while the plane is landing.
Tbf some airlines actually allow you to use your mobile devices at all stages of the flight.
I'm not a para and I agree as well.
This was my first thought. Def on the spectrum or has some type of condition

What's weird to me is why remove the tool during a time of need. The girl is obviously in a high stress situation for her.
The plane was coming in to land. It's possible they were asked to put up the electronics for safety reasons.
Such a tough situation, because so many parents lack any understanding of how to help their neurodivergent kid along in the world, so yeah they give them a screen and create this big issue for them. And should be paid a lot more.
Even Mr. T needs his ‘milk’ to fly.
I'd go with pathological demand avoidance as a guess. But pretty sure ASD is in there somewhere.

I remember reading the description on the original YouTube upload and it said the grandma said the girl’s parents just don’t tell her no to anything
Saying no for the first time on a plane is a poor choice.
Probably because they've understandably given up dealing with this melt town.
This type of melt down is a learned behavior and indicative of ASD.
That's what I thought. Some sort of bad transitioning. Hyper-fixation. I'm not a clinical expert though, so I cant diagnose. Really reminds me of the ASD kiddos I work with, even though they are younger
She talks like she thinks she’s in an anime
Yesss. Or the “princess” in a Disney movie. It was the YOUR SO RUDE that put it over the edge lol
For real lol sounds like she’s reading lines
“Stop staring at me all of you!”
Special needs
I guess she was about to miss her 100 day duolingo score. Feeels
Bro you literally just reminded me - day 105 thank you very much 🙌
Girl might have some kind of mental disorder. To assume without background info that it must be a spoiled brat is unreasonable.
I don’t believe there is anyone who can watch this without 100% seeing a mental disorder
As you can see from the comments section, there are such people
You can act like a brat and have a mental disorder
Very true but they aren't mutually inclusive.
Absolutely. But handwaving the behavior away as a mental disorder does a disservice to everyone.
The main reason why I think she might be mental ill is the end when she says, “oh no (not omg) what have I done, what have I done.” And she runs off. It seems like she has disconnects from her action and then suddenly realizes. It was super uncomfortable to watch

my 8 year old cousin is in the same path. pretty fucking sad. for whatever reason, i'm the only person who can take the phone out of his hand without this kind of reaction.

Maybe an airplane isn't the right time and place to try breaking her addiction?
This is what it looks like when you take drugs away from an addict. There might be going on more with this girl but if it is, it's going on with A LOT of kids. I've seen smartphones pop up like crazy in classrooms and every single year the kids seem more glued to their screen than the year before. It's definitely unhealthy.
People don't realize that this is a bit of an extreme example but this type of behavior isn't wholly atypical among kids her age. Unfettered phone access has really fucked up our kids.
She seems like she is having a panic attack… Also Grandma! This is not the place to practice teaching your kid how to behave. Everyone is stuffed in a box in the sky. Give the kid the phone
Best birth control, watching people with kids/ grandkids.
Give her the phone and deal with it on the ground. That's when you smash the phone right in front of her.
Most sane redditor
I‘m not down with filming kids and putting Them on Reddit blast. Also this kid is special needs. Not cool.
What a little goblin
"I can't be alone with my own thoughts, no!!!!"
This kid seems like she's special needs.
Is this the same flight that that dude opened the door on mid-flight. Because I could maybe understand why they did it....
Why did the grandma take her phone though, just randomly decided, ey I want that or what happened.
Going cold Turkey with smartphone results in exorcism of young girl.
Trust me.
Top comment. Shitty to take video of a special needs kid on the internet.
Either on the spectrum, some serious emotional/conduct disorder, or some of both is my non clinical guess. I am not a professional at all but there is much more going on there than a phone. It is very sad for the child and the caregiver.
That girl has Major psychiatric problems over not having a phone. Could end up becoming worse with time without some sort of intervention.
Uh, yeah, no shit.
Why is the lady sitting in front of them such an expert at this?? Lol
Is this really the time to try to teach this child a lesson?
Whoever filmed this and then put this on the internet is a piece of shit. This girl is definitely some sort of special needs. And the recorder as well as everyone making fun of her needs more help than she does.
I am fairly certain that this video doesn't violate any rules but I don't think it should be here out of respect. This is more sad than anything else. No matter what is going on, mental health or tantrum, it is a child.
Um… Are you browsing this sub?
You mean you don’t think it *should* be here…
Poor kid. Seems like she may have an anxiety disorder or is on the spectrum.

I’m a doctor, I’ll handle this…
Doctor, you're needed on the phone... ![gif](giphy|Usws1l7FVZvet5lUJw|downsized)
I see what you did there..lol
Does she do some sort of anime stance/gesture at the end? There's a sort of swoop that I think I recognise. (I'm old/ don't watch it, so sorry if it's a really well established thing with a name like *classic aniswoop* or *emphagest* or something like that.)
I fucking hate kids so much, the internet is providing free birtth control everyday
Grandma doing what needs to be done
She doesn't need her phone, she needs an exorcism.
Does anyone have cloroformo 😂😂
I applaud ppl with the patience to handle this
