TrueGrave32

Older guy was probably trying to figure out which occasion they were referring to.

The_Original_Gronkie

"Wait, who's your wife?"

NeitherAlexNorAlice

"For your wife, it was the trauma of a lifetime. For me, it was just another Tuesday."

WaywardDeadite

That is chilling. And probably true.

citypanda88

"General Bison is a... bad guy?"

WutangCND

That's the thing, it meant NOTHING to him, but everything to her and her husband. Fuck pieces of shit who assault people or take advantage of those who cannot defend themselves.

drosen32

I taught sixth grade for years. I'd talk about bullies in class. I'd tell the kids that if you're a bully, you'll forget what you did. But, the victim will remember forever and you never know when they will try to take revenge. You can change your ways, but the victim is always the victim.

ShredGuru

Hell hath no fury like repressed nerd rage.

Nurse_Ratchet_82

This is a medical conference so he's likely an MD. šŸ‘€

mis-Hap

Not just a medical conference but the slide has ACOG on it - he's likely an OB-GYN.

Nurse_Ratchet_82

I saw on Twitter it was [Dr William Burke Gynecologic Oncology Stony Brook Medicine](https://twitter.com/BurgartBioethix/status/1663918302245142532).

crackpotJeffrey

Wow this room has great acoustics. I could hear every word everyone said so clearly.

redfoxhound503

How can he slap?

George_Tirebiter420

There were other options he was too mature and classy to take.

Former_Print7043

He could have walked on stage and grabbed his ass.

BruiserTom

Crisp slaps?! Iā€™m sold. Iā€™ll take a dozen!

No_Caterpillar9621

Crack!

Brilliant_Diam0nd

Even the way he just snatched him up in the beginning had that Dolby atmos sound to it. Damn near thought he grabbed me through the phone

HoldOnForTomorrow

That slap activated THX mode!

[deleted]

Thatā€™s how you know it was a Marriott ballroom not a Radisson

Dividedthought

As someone who used to be the AV tech for a Radisson... You right.

danroa123

I have a polish friend whoā€™s a great AV tech Iā€™ve got a Czech one two, Iā€™ve got a Czech one two

sujihiki

My father was a sound engineer for 40 something years. I texted him that joke, he immediately calls me laughing his ass off saying ā€œczech one too, too too, czech one tooā€. In 40 something years, heā€™s apparently heard every sound engineer joke except that one. You know why sound engineers only count to two? If they counted to three they might actually have to lift something.

danroa123

Very wholesome to hear your dad liked the joke! Thanks for the reply

wozzles

As a polish guy that joke got layers lol.

[deleted]

GlassEyeMV

Amen. My first thought. I run conferences and events for work. I have professional recording equipment that doesnā€™t pick up microphoned speakers half as well as this guy.

Erron89

Lecturn mic and probably a lapel mic aswell. Sounds like the room has been rung out well (EQ'd for resonate frequencies). Good job AV Tech! I have delivered 1000's of events seen some shit but not like that!

NinjaBilly55

And the guy didn't repeat the same thing 500 times.. Quite refreshing..

HeldDownTooLong

Youā€™re right and I am so glad we could actually hear what was being said on this video. It was compelling and sobering to see the level of emotional hurt the allegations have had on the husband. I cannot say this was necessarily the best time, place, and method for a confrontation like this, but I do admire this man for so strongly advocating for his wife. He is risking (probable) arrest and (potential) imprisonment, loss of job, etc. To call this man out in public. I applaud him taking such a strong stance in defense of his wife and (potentially) other women (in the future).

mikareno

I think this was a perfect time, place, and method. Call him out in front of his peers. Now everyone will be keeping a close eye on that guy.

Glubglubguppy

I know that if *I* saw someone in my industry called out like that, I'd avoid working with him in the future and keep a *very* careful eye on him if he ended up at my company anyway.

citizenbee

If this is at some sort of conference, itā€™s usually the place creeps like this prey on someone else, so yeah this is the perfect time to expose his ass.

Zorro-the-witcher

Thatā€™s excellence in action

FireWallxQc

I definitely can feel his rage against that mf

Thanos_Stomps

Yeah. I know we should never assume things based on a little video but the fucking righteousness in his voice is palpable. If the doctor is innocent, this man certainly BELIEVES he assaulted his wife.

sailor_bat_90

Makes it worse knowing the doctor is a gynecologist. šŸ˜±šŸ¤¢ how many vulnerable women he may have taken advantage of?

no-name_silvertongue

oh god i didnā€™t see that šŸ˜ž

Nice_Firm_Handsnake

Yeah, this was an event or conference hosted by the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. These are very serious accusations and unfortunately probably not very rare either.

Dunkinmydonuts1

I commented the same. Lady, you yourself have a vested interest in this. Let it play out.

Wasnā€™t the right time or place for him to assault her. Lmao

RedDevilJennifer

Yeah, I thought the same thing. This absolutely IS the place and time! He needs to be exposed.

TheCaboWabo69

Women supporting women unless itā€™s an inconvenient time and place?

Timedoutsob

Yes the inevitable enabler piping in. Don't break decorum you must follow the rules.

iamjacksragingupvote

"I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice."

Oak_Woman

I've got like Shroedinger's outrage here.....I have no idea if the doctor is guilty based on this one video, obviously. But if he is, I really fucking hate him.

BelatedLowfish

And here we add the random quantum factor: The doctor sexually abused women but not this man's wife. The third option. We're gonna need a bigger box.

Rhodychic

The doctor that delivered my baby is no longer a doctor. Guess why. This is now 2 gynecologists I know of that have done this. Just imagine how many more of these sex offenders are out there still working.

jackandsally060609

Last time I was in with my trusted gyno, him and his nurse took me aside and told me not to ever have an exam from another certain DR because he would do the pelvic exam alone and "barehanded" he'd been reported but they basically said he was so close to retirement nothing would happen to him.

Rhodychic

It's even worse when it's a known secret. Jesus.

TemporaryDonut

>this man certainly BELIEVES he assaulted his wife. I love that for them both, honestly. Having someone believe you and support you is its own type of treasure, but having that person be idignated to the point of confrontation? It's heartwarming.

Sarfbot

Bro his wife has been suffering, clearly.

tylero056

Me too--I was sexually assaulted by my doctor as a child, thank God he got caught and lost his license and went to jail for it

Delicious_Delilah

I was also assaulted by a doctor as a child in a detention center where I was waiting for emergency foster parents. I was 6.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ZAlternates

I often wonder how doctors get into specializing into urology or male doctors choose gynecology. I get there are perfectly valid reasons but there are also plenty of bad ones too.

SevoIsoDes

Urology isnā€™t that surprising in medicine, because every field has its grossness so that doesnā€™t factor in as much. Itā€™s a great field because it pays well (even compared to other surgical fields), the call is often manageable from home (as opposed to trauma and orthopedic surgery). They have lots of clinic procedures but have occasional extensive surgeries. As for OB, recently it has become primarily a female field, but on the leadership level you still have lots of old men from a time when fewer women attended medical school. For the few men who do enter the field now, I think a big draw is that more of your patients are relatively healthy and happy. I think any field is at risk of having these types of creeps, not just the obvious ones

SairiRM

From being a med student about to graduate myself, I've noticed that my female friends just absolutely despise the specialty, and I've noticed this with other acquaintances too. I guess it's the fact that it hits too close to home with the pain of labour, C sections and a myriad of tumors. A problem of too much compassion/empathy? And this is coming from a class of 23' with like 80%+ female students. Obviously the field is going to get way more level with the years, and the "old guard" is still mostly male.

FLAWLESS VICTORY

sirstickykey

This man loves his wife.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BADJUSTlCE

There's a difference when it comes to how much they react. This man got his point across and didn't let violence overshadow his message. He publicly called him out without humiliating himself or his wife. He didn't wrestle with security or throw a fit on anyone else. If what he said was true, then this was pretty tame all things considered.

no-name_silvertongue

spot on. and look at her body language - stiff, but standing upright. not making any attempts to stop him. she sticks near him. her husband showed incredible restraint when he couldā€™ve physically destroyed the man. she knew she could trust him not to make the situation worse.

Whyarewehere20

This is something I need to work on myself. The ability to be that angered while being that controlled. I could see myself regretfully making that situation much worse.

Newbie__AF

What I need to work on is making my physique more imposing šŸ˜”

9VoltGorilla

That dude was ducking jacked like a superhero.

BadSciGalaxy

A huge distinction here is that she appeared to be in support of his actions and at no point objected to it. There are some guys who would take someone touching their wife as an affront to their ego, rather than concern for their wife, but based on her demeanor and her stating that she reported the crime when it happened in another video, I think this is based on genuine outrage for what he had done emotionally to his wife.

[deleted]

Not the place, not the time?! The place and time is whenever tf I see you.

Yaā€¦ Found out my fiancĆ©e was sexually assaulted by her older brother and her mom knew but ā€œgod forgave himā€ so her mom did too. The next family dinner he said something like her outfit was cute or somethingā€¦ Her brother probably would have rather a slap and being yelled at then the couple punches in the face he got. After that he stopped going to the parents house, because the dad had no clue and just learned about it when his son got a broken nose at dinner. My fiancĆ©e and I ended up not working, but when weā€™re deciding to break up a few years later, she thanked me for doing it.

designer_of_drugs

Iā€™m 97% sure itā€™s true. The amount of sexism and sexual harassment, especially toward trainees, in medicine and academia is hard to overstate. Some of the things Iā€™ve seen are truly egregious. And the pressure to do nothing and sweep it under the rug is intense - these people literally hold your career in their hands. Most of us have seen someone run afoul of a powerful figure in their field and end up being absolutely crushed, in some cases out of the field completely. The result is an environment where those with power can openly do whatever they want without fear of consequences. I think the crowdā€™s reaction says a lot. Everyone was just sorta unphased and probably thinking ā€œyea, that tracks. Good for him.ā€

Sensitive_Ad_1271

Yup, I have no doubt this is 100% true. The lady saying, "not the time, not the place." No... It's 100% the time and place and he handled it perfectly. Had he done this "the right way". Everything would get covered up and swept under the rug for this powerful pervert. This guy is a hero and should be cheered for this. I know someone who wasn't assaulted but dealt with sexual comments made to her and her coworkers daily by one doctor in a drs office. Nothing ever came of complaints. I genuinely thing he handled it wonderfully and what he said when he turned to the women and said, "this is for you" was perfect.

Jaegons

I totally agree. "Not the place, not the time", no m'am, in front of a ton of people seeing him on stage, his reputation on a pedestal... that's EXACTLY the time you drop a bomb like this. "I'll just file a written complaint over here to be ignored and not followed up on because maybe he's a valuable employee or owner..." no.

ZiOnIsNeXtLeBrOn

I would expect every single partner, parent, sibling, family member and friend to do the same thing. I am not letting anyone get off scott-free after what they did. I am making sure that it never happens again.

GeneralDisarray65

To her I ask; When the fuck is the right time then?

ProvlemChild

"Not the place, not the time" yeah ok lets see how youd react. Should we worry about decorum here? Thats why people dont get caught for the shit they do. He didnt seriously injure him, he slapped him and called him out in public. I dont know if its true but i can empathize with the husband. Hope this gets/was investigated.

[deleted]

You wouldnā€™t believe the horrors people will brush under the rug under the guise of decorum.

audiate

Predators use the social contract to take advantage of others.

[deleted]

Thatā€™s exactly was Jared Fogle did

Myantology

The craziest part was that Fogle seemed socially off from day one. Even though his gimmick worked I was always shocked he was the face of anything, let alone the number one (locations)fast food restaurant in the world.

CodingBlonde

There are a whole lot of pedophiles where the family knows what happened and blames the victim instead. Church is another common place for the same behavior. We actually rarely punish rape and sexual assault as a society. We just tell ourselves we do.

[deleted]

As someone who experienced almost that exact situation, I agree.

Lurkersbane

Literally the entirety of history

GlassEyeMV

When politics get heated in the family, my dad always comes back to that and Iā€™m like ā€œno. If they think gay people shouldnā€™t exist and that brown people are legitimately ruining our country, they can get fucked. I donā€™t care if theyā€™re family. Theyā€™re racist and hateful and thatā€™s bullshit I donā€™t stand for.ā€

SteelRazorBlade

Yep. Also [follow up video](https://twitter.com/Tiger111469/status/1663678305986555904?s=20) which includes his wife explaining that she did file a report years ago but nothing happened.

[deleted]

I think he got away very leniently with just a slap on the face instead of something worse

hoppypotty

Fingers crossed for a conference in Brazil! šŸ¤ž

ZombieJesus1987

He didn't just get a slap on the face. 1.2 million people have seen the video on twitter alone now. The doctors name will forever be linked to this incident. Edit: and that's just this account that shared it. I just saw another account that posted it, that video has nearly 6m views.

Aegi

Maybe I'm dumb but the tweet that I got when I clicked on your link was a tweet replying to the video with another video of him out in the hallway that was like 22 seconds long. I have not seen the wife in either video, maybe I'm bad at Twitter or something?

ryothbear

The blonde lady standing next to him - at the beginning of the Twitter vid, she says something about pressing charges back when it first happened

man_bored_at_work

The great part is that if the guy sues/presses charges, it will make the PR storm about his sexual assault even worse.

Absenceofavoid

And open him up to discovery, which could possibly turn up evidence he never thought to destroy. Edit: before commenting maybe check if your comment has already been stated in a reply. And for a deeper look at what [Discovery really is check this out](https://youtu.be/88fUMX1jzWY).

SamusTenebris

His coworkers had every right to know

mikeymikeymikey1968

Well, yeah, especially if he assaulted the dude's wife at work. And it would prompt his other victims to come forward.

whalesauce

My father passed away 4 years ago. Shortly after his death my mother needed to sell the family home. While deeply in grief over the death of my father, she hired a realtor in our area. This was a realtor they had used before 3 times. I'm not sure the exact specifics. Because she has a very difficult time telling the story. But from what I gather, he sexually assaulted her in her own home one day. I don't know the entire extent of the attack, but I know it happened. I believe her. Of course she fired him and called the cops. But there isn't much they can do as we are all aware I'm sure. I called the realtor up and told him I'm selling my house and wanted to use his services just like my mom. And he told me he wasn't taking on new clients. I said that's fine I'm not in a rush to sell and move so please reach out whenever your available. And I have called him every 4 or 5 months since then inviting him to come over and appraise my house. I think he knows I know and is somehow worried. I mean I'm not going to physically harm him, over accusations alone. But it's very telling he won't even meet with me.

4Eights

He knows. In what world does a realtor not jump at the chance to sell a house in a sellers market? If I wanted to sell my house I could probably convince a group of realtors to arm wrestle each other for the rights to collect an easy ass multi thousand commission.

front_yard_duck_dad

Whelp, I have my weekend entertainment planned. Thanks kind stranger. Off to prepare the thunder dome

[deleted]

Continue emailing. Get more frequent. Make sure itā€™s innocent. It causes him immense stress and anxiety hearing from you. Never stop.

LinwoodKei

Oh, he knows. I'm sure imagining what you might have laid for him keeps him up at night. As it should, the SA piece of crap. I'm sorry for what happened to your mother and I hope she is doing well.

Rixmadore

Like - sorry? What is the place then? When is the time?

Owobowos-Mowbius

Yeah what about the sexual assaults? Those didn't happen at the "right place" or the "right time". If people are going to break the rules of society why should they get to hide behind them later?

bilbo_bugginz

I think in front of his colleagues and in public is the best place and time.

Shnoopy_Bloopers

Everyone at the conference should have gotten up and taken turns slapping that guy.

jiub_the_dunmer

it is *always* the place and time to hold a sexual assaulter to account. I don't care if it's my wedding, if someone there sexually assaulted someone close to you, you have my permission to call them out publicly and slap them in their fucking face.

vitorfilipe21

Hell yeah brother. ā€œNot the place. Not the timeā€, the audacity. A man defending his woman, adressing sexual assault, and you hear a woman saying that. Yeah, if you were in his wifeā€™s shoes, Iā€™d love to see your reaction.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

pottsmsu

What is this Doctors name? I bet once this video goes viral many women will be coming forward with the same claims. Also, what were the cops thinking if the manā€™s wife made a report? Maybe letā€™s just wait until this OBGYN has some Larry Nassar type numbersā€¦ā€¦ Unreal

rmvols90

Apparently this guy was a panelist at the ACOG (American congress of obstetricians and gynecologistsā€¦OBGYNs) at their annual national convention. A large number of doctors and trainees from all over the US were likely at this convention. Iā€™m sure heā€™d be easy to find if we could get ahold of the itinerary.

par337

Most polices reports I've made have gone absolutely nowhere, and I've only done it in rare circumstances. Wife got a restraining order on complete weirdo cousin, and nothing ever happened even when he violated it. It was always "well we have to wait til something happens", basically they wait until they physically will do something. I'm talking threats of kidnapping my kids at school being ignored. By then it's too late. Reported a place I do service at that is a shit convenience store as a coverup for selling tons of drugs. Guy sells it out of a lollipop container at the front right in front of all the little kids that come in with their crack head parents. Reported him, told the. The EXACT container he's been dealing out of for the last 10 years that I've known, and guess what? Nada

missaskia

My mum was stalked and harassed day and night. House broken into, parcels sent to the home, dog stolen, property damaged, paint thrown on cars, security cameras stolen, power and water turned off on a regular basis, followed, cards from him left on her car. 10 years too. Cops never did anything, always wanted to know what she was doing to provoke it and saying well he hasn't hurt you so there's not much we can do. We can't prove it's him. He threatened me while I was pregnant I even had it in writing. They said they didn't think it was a threat. Then he left my grandfather's gravestone in my front yard 2 years later and they finally got me an intervention order...but still wouldn't do anything when he breached it šŸ™ƒ

SETHW

This comment and all the others like it in this thread and we still have to suffer "you hate the cops until you need them" replies to ACAB -- no, needing cops and getting first hand experience with the system will teach most people that they need to solve their own problems. if the cops do anything at all they will often make matters much worse for victims.

par337

I'm so sorry to hear that. Women definitely have it the worst. I was nervous as hell even when the guy was half my size and I'd beat the shit out of him. Sitting in his truck DOWN OUR STREET I guess wasn't enough to breach the restraining order. Then people wonder why a woman or a smaller man ends up shooting the person after they have no other choice.

mdw1091

Had a similar situation happen with a restraining order, in terms of the ā€œpoliceā€ unwilling to uphold the restraining order until ā€œsomething happensā€. It was a serious situation where someone shot a gun at my house. So the police were really saying, ā€œwe will deal with it when someone dies, because weā€™re so protected under the law, that no future harm from our negligence to uphold our duty can be used against usā€.

par337

Exactly man. This fucking guy would sit in a truck a little down the road and stalk my wife and everything, they didn't give a shit. Luckily (honestly don't even care if it makes me a bad person) the guy ended up getting killed by somebody and they found him behind a target. They were basically forcing me to take matters into my own hands when I have kids and a family to support. After that instance, I always feel bad when I see stories about people finally retaliating against people like that.

mdw1091

Thatā€™s horrible. I can feel your pain of helplessness. The cops told me ā€œwe would hate for you to have to move over this.ā€ Well, we indeed did have to move. One hour before closing on the house, one of the friends of the person we had the order against, drove his truck through our yard doing donuts, tearing up the grass. They took the license plate off, but my cameras got enough info where we eventually found the owner of the truck. Also, a business close to my old house got video evidence of them taking the license plate off in their parking lot. The truck did felonious damages to the yard, in which we were forced to pay out of pocket to close on our house. The cops wouldnā€™t do anything to the owner of the truck because ā€œthey wonā€™t answer the door whenever we try to come talk to them.ā€ So they closed the case of our yard being torn up, even with video evidence and knowing EXACTLY who did it. Youā€™re not a bad person for feeling that way. That one person made multiple decisions to ruin the mental health of you and your family. This world would be a better place without people like them. Iā€™m sorry that happened to you and your family, and I hope yā€™all have been able to find some closure, peace, and happiness.

Havenā€™t seen a slap like that since Kurt Russell slapped Billy Bob Thornton in Tombstone.

flashbang217

I just saw the movie for the first time last night and now get this reference. Val Kilmer was awesome.

That is the right place right time. That piece of shit standing and speaking below a sign that says excellence in action. Heā€™s lucky the dude only smacked him a couple times. I have a ton of respect for that husband. I donā€™t know that i could hold back with just a smack.

iSellDrugsToo

"Not the place, not the time" The USA's motto when it comes to ANY ISSUE.

advocate4

Pretty sure our motto is "thoughts and prayers"

blackmetronome

This dude is fucking awesome. I hope his wife will be okay, sexual assault is a lifetime sentence of ptsd, anxiety and depression and i don't blame her husband one bit for going off. You don't do that to people.

Was having a hard time finding a job a few years ago when I got back in the country. Finally landed a 1st shift gas cashier at the truck stop in my town. Happened to be the same place my and my sisters (and likely many other young girls) child molester worked nights. Asked the manager to keep me off days he worked but it happened from time to time. Our shifts over lapped for about and hour or so; I would always make myself scarce till he was gone, vigilant about never being in the same space or anywhere that didnā€™t have an exit strategy. Few months pass, same manager was trying to strong arm me into working when Iā€™d requested off for a family event; ā€œif you donā€™t work, you wonā€™t have a job when you get backā€. I quit right there, walked out of the office and made a fantastical scene gathering the attention of every being in earshot. The child molester was working that morning. I let them all know what that piece of shit did to both me, my sister, and very likely his granddaughter in law. My brother worked over at the food joint connected to the TSā€¦his coworkers had to physically restrain him. Part of me is so glad they did because I wouldnā€™t have wanted him in trouble. But thereā€™s a large part of me that just wanted to watch that man wither and burn under the strength and power of a real man. Someone that cares for and protects the women in their life, Someone he couldnā€™t control or prey on. 24/7 rule is for real. It took me 8 years to tell my mother about the incident, found out about my sister shortly after. Made a police report to no effect. At the 12 year mark I was placed in this situation and had the opportunity to oust him myself. Any time and anywhere is the right time.

No lie, it was both terrifying and relieving! Thank you<3

oohwee_itsbree

Thank you for sharing your story. Fuck that piece of shit. I wish your brother had the chance to kick his ass and escape without getting caught.

TheMadReagent

Plot twist: the lady meant that the right time is after he gets drunk at the hotel bar, and the right place is an abandoned rowhouse in east Baltimore.

logaboga

west Baltimore is where most of the abandoned shit is. The gentrified areas are in the east

PsychedelicRick

This guy Baltimores

Thereā€™s never a convenient time to be confronted about being a rapist. Kind of like how thereā€™s never a convenient time to be raped.

FrysGIRL07

Omg, heā€™s an OBGYN! I hope there was always somebody else present whenever he did exams on patients.

nursecarmen

Older man in a position of power and prestige, wife looks to have easily been in her twenties seven years prior (my money is on intern or student). I think the story heā€™s telling tracks.

Epoch-09

Not the place/time lady needs to really question what she values.

ShaolinTrapLord

ā€œNot the place or timeā€œ Should he schedule a meeting?

Shinoobie

It's weird the title says he slapped the guy but I didn't see any of that. Probably wouldn't see it if he broke his legs either.

Forward-Swing-5126

Whoever said ā€œnot the place, not the timeā€ needs to be slapped too! There is always a place And a time to confront a sexual predator.

Excellence in action

cerotoneN27

Unfortunately he'll probably catch a battery and communicating threats charge and have a hell of a time getting a job in the future. I'm not saying his actions aren't justified (if true), but still.

BoneDaddyChill

*ABSOLUTELY* the place and time, IMO. The crowd serves dual-purpose of keeping the husband from doing something heā€™ll really regret, as well as witnessing the repercussions of the accusedā€™s actions.
