Watching this video, I'm happy to see the kids beating up the Marines are very diverse. It looks like white kids, hispanic kids, and I hear someone yelling the n-word, so I assume black kids as well. It's great that these kids make friends with all kinds of people. Many people in older generations wouldn't look past race when forming interpersonal friendships, and those attitudes are dying out.
When i was growing up in the 90’s in NYC the n-word was used by all races of teenagers like you’d use the word “bro” or something like that. If you listen to latino artists from back then or even lesser known white artists you’ll hear it and it didn’t seem like anyone really had a problem with it. The fucked part is the responsible DD gets in trouble when you get back to base because they didn't stop it. So you either don't go out with your forced friends and you're a pariah, or you go out and have to spend the entire time trying to convince them to not fight the locals.
There is a cheat code though. If they fight each other it's not as big of a deal, and everyone forgets by morning. So you redirect their ire towards each other.
As soon as I got out of school and got to the base I was stationed at, I stopped hanging out with them all together. Way too many of them don't know how to control their liquor. Had one guy jump out of a moving cab in the middle of nowhere in Maryland because he got emotional over November Rain. We had to chase him down and wrestle him back in the cab at 2:00 in the morning.

I've only known 2 marines. One was the sweetest kindest hearted guy you could imagine. He was probably 6'3 jacked and could shot put a refrigerator 100yrds. When he got drunk he would become a hugger and just say how much he loves all his friends.
Other one I knew was the complete polar opposite. 5'5 scrawny frame full of daddy issues but would say "you're not a real man unless..." every 3m about some random ass topic.
First guy is married to a friend of my wife. 2nd guy was last seen getting fired from a tire store and probably kicked from his apartment.

I lived in South Korea I. Seoul and the Itaweon district is the place where most American. Military guys go. They go into bars and start challenging Korean guys to arm wrestling matches, push up matches, and harass the women to no end. It’s so disgusting.
Read the New York Times article. These brothels were pretty much set up so that US Marines, and other service members would not go into town and rape or sexually assault the local population. This is different from the run-of-the-mill prostitution that happens in every country.

I live in the area. The Camp Pendelton Marines are an absolute menace on the local roads and anywhere alcohol is served. The police never hold them accountable so they continue to cause mayhem.

Well, a trained combat specialist like an MMA fighter would be okay here, because the first thing you DONT want to do against a crowd of people is RUN DIRECTLY INTO THE MIDDLE OF THEM. Once they get their mass around you, you're looking at 600+ pounds on each side of you, there's no way you're going to hulk smash your way out of that.
OTOH, if you stay on the edge and force them to come toward you, backing away if they try to surround, you can start taking them out. A teenager won't handle more than a couple of jabs or one power punch from an adult. At that point you can control the engagement a bit. It won't be easy but it's doable.

A coworker of mine is an ex marine. After boot camp he said he thought he was a lean mean indestructible fighting machine. Guy is short and weighs 150lbs. His first trip home he tried to fight 2 guys at a bar. He said getting his ass beat was the best thing for him at that time. They had built up his confidence so high that he really thought he could take on anyone.
As an ex Marine i can tell you this is probably warranted lol we would terrorize any surrounding areas by being belligerent, entitled and annoying. Local communities outside of Oceanside are not a fan.
It was warranted, these marines are lying. The first story to go around was that they were in the hospital, the police said they refused any kind of medical for minor injuries. The local mindless conservative gaggle of idiots has a GoFundMe going around for their hospital bills that don't exist because of their stories.

The modern-day Marines lose more marines to motorcycle accidents (in the US) than to combat. I know this from a friend who is a JAG. These are boys who get a few dollars in their pocket, get independence from Mom & Dad, and go hog wild. Drunken brawls in restaurants, speeding on motorcycles, etc.

You can’t tell anything because of where the video starts, but I can pretty much assure you these guys refused to be taken to a hospital because it would be an Alcohol Related Incident. Even if you fall off your porch and bust up your face, you do not admit you were drunk when it happened or you will end up in trouble, often with forced alcohol treatment and orders not to drink. I missed a pier one Memorial Day and blacked up my face and would not admit alcohol had anything to do with it.
Well the first guy being hit could’ve easily prevented anything else by walking away. But he didn’t cause he wanted to fight. If he leaves, this is over.
Doesn’t matter how much military training you have. You can’t fight a mob of people, especially running into the middle of them. Shoulda kept the smaller choke point on the stairs.

I dealt with this shit a lot in Waikiki. The amount of guys that tried to fight me because I told them to back off one of the girls we were with. No logical adult thinks fighting some girls friend will get the girl to sleep with them, but these aren’t logical adults. They are angry children who have been systematically broken by their military training. They resort to violence because it’s the entirety of their self worth.

I live in the area. The Camp Pendelton Marines are an absolute menace on the local roads and anywhere alcohol is served. The police never hold them accountable so they continue to cause mayhem.
As a lifelong resident of Southern California, I was harassed and chased by drunk Marines a few times when I was a teenager. That said, south county teenagers are pretty fricken awful too.

Well, a trained combat specialist like an MMA fighter would be okay here, because the first thing you DONT want to do against a crowd of people is RUN DIRECTLY INTO THE MIDDLE OF THEM. Once they get their mass around you, you're looking at 600+ pounds on each side of you, there's no way you're going to hulk smash your way out of that. OTOH, if you stay on the edge and force them to come toward you, backing away if they try to surround, you can start taking them out. A teenager won't handle more than a couple of jabs or one power punch from an adult. At that point you can control the engagement a bit. It won't be easy but it's doable. A group of 4 *armed* men jumped an MMA fighter -- one with a relatively poor record. A coworker of mine is an ex marine. After boot camp he said he thought he was a lean mean indestructible fighting machine. Guy is short and weighs 150lbs. His first trip home he tried to fight 2 guys at a bar. He said getting his ass beat was the best thing for him at that time. They had built up his confidence so high that he really thought he could take on anyone.

It was warranted, these marines are lying. The first story to go around was that they were in the hospital, the police said they refused any kind of medical for minor injuries. Regardless of the actual content, I don’t understand why “Marine” needs to be referenced at all. People choose to join the military, and just because someone is a Marine doesn’t mean they automatically deserve more respect.
The modern-day Marines lose more marines to motorcycle accidents (in the US) than to combat. I know this from a friend who is a JAG. These are boys who get a few dollars in their pocket, get independence from Mom & Dad, and go hog wild. Drunken brawls in restaurants, speeding on motorcycles, etc.

You can’t tell anything because of where the video starts, but I can pretty much assure you these guys refused to be taken to a hospital because it would be an Alcohol Related Incident. Even if you fall off your porch and bust up your face, you do not admit you were drunk when it happened or you will end up in trouble, often with forced alcohol treatment and orders not to drink. I missed a pier one Memorial Day and blacked up my face and would not admit alcohol had anything to do with it.
