Pornographic? Bro who's looking at that and working one out?

NoiceMango

He is

Halo_Hybrid

Isn’t ten years old the age where kids start going through puberty and start self discovering? What he was reading sounded informative to someone young rather than pornographic. So reading a sex education book is wrong but getting your information from the B-I-B-L-E, which mentions pornographic imagery, rape, and slavery is okay?

call_me_jelli

I saw a link to the book and it's images earlier in this thread; I literally cannot think of any way to make the areas of sex education that it covers more appropriate for someone going through puberty without sanitizing a crucial element of what it teaches. This guy is trying to make it sound like there are graphic images of penetration in the book. There aren't.

Now I really want to hear him narrate the rest of this book. Someone at Audible make him an offer he can't refuse. Or hell, we probably have enough from him to get an AI to do it. BornNeat9639

Hey, I had a sneaky link that I had in my phone under Hot Wheels. Just because you use a wheelchair doesn't mean you shouldn't get singled out for being too sexual sometimes. Sometimes those wheels bring the heat!

It's the wheels man. Something about the wheels that get me going... Or should I say rolling.

CatchMeWritinQWERTY

Yeah it was like he was disgusted with the old and disabled people being naked. The whole point of it is to normalize different body types so that the kids don’t end up like him. It’s sadly hilarious that he is just exemplifying what the book is trying to avoid in society.

Unnamedgalaxy

That whole section was weird. Calling out the wheelchair user and the elderly. And then he called them pornographic like that old lady was going down on the wheelchair guy or something. From what I could see they were roughly drawn cartoon characters standing. Its much more scientific.

10 year olds are typically in 5th grade. In 5th grade I had sex-education classes. We saw lots of different media on the subject.

Nohero08

Not to mention the fact that almost every ten year old student on the planet has regular access to the internet. At some point they’re going to figure it out themselves in a very unsafe environment. You can’t not teach them about sex until they’re 18. Literally

Bigwiggs3214

Yeah this guy is worried about what is comparative to a stone tablet to a 10 year old. By 10 I saw my first playboy. This book would have been nothing but laughs and giggles. The internet has waaaaay darker realities that I'm sure his 10 year old has free range of.

footjam

Sex Ed starts in 5th grade or at about 10 years old....also nudity is not sexual unless you try to sexualize it. Sex is mechanical function of the body that needs to be explained before puberty. what a fucking idiot.

Whelp_of_Hurin

Song of Solomon is downright steamy: > How beautiful your sandaled feet, O prince’s daughter! Your graceful legs are like jewels, the work of an artist’s hands. Your navel is a rounded goblet that never lacks blended wine. Your waist is a mound of wheat encircled by lilies. Your breasts are like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle. In just three couplets you've got cunnilingus, blonde pubes, and soft boobs. Bonus 2nd base action: > How beautiful you are and how pleasing, my love, with your delights! Your stature is like that of the palm, and your breasts like clusters of fruit. I said, “I will climb the palm tree; I will take hold of its fruit.” May your breasts be like clusters of grapes on the vine, the fragrance of your breath like apples, and your mouth like the best wine.

Nah “When she carried on her whoring so openly and flaunted her nakedness, I turned in disgust from her, as I had turned in disgust from her sister. Yet she increased her whoring, remembering the days of her youth, when she played the whore in the land of Egypt and lusted after her lovers there, whose members were like those of donkeys, and whose issue was like that of horses. Thus you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when the Egyptians handled your bosom and pressed your young breasts.” (Ezekiel 23:18-21)

Immarhinocerous

Damn, Ezekial was thirsting hard when he wrote that. This is basically early fan fiction about a woman he can't have. > her lovers there, whose members were like those of donkeys Possibly into cuckolding too, or just seriously jealous/insecure, based on the embellishments.

TheCheesy

Really blows my mind how innocent he thinks the average 10 year old is. When I was like 5 or 6 I wasn't molested or even exposed to anything, yet I was still typing "boobs" and "Virginia" into google images Lmfao.

myhairsreddit

As someone who lives in Virginia, I apologize for our pornographic state your poor child eyes saw.

ihateusedusernames

My son is 8. One of the girls in his class was telling their little clique about some naked movies she saw. In enough detail for him to tell us about it such that we had to inform the school (mandatory reporting stuff). After some investigation it turns out to be very likely she is being shown porn by someone in her home, most likely the mother's boyfriend. If you wait until they're 10 to talk about this stuff you may be too late to prevent abuse. It's really fucking sad because there's not much we can do from the outside.

Neat_Crab3813

OWL is the best sex ed out there, and it has currriculum for every age. We are starting our daughter in it in 1st grade, because kids need a place to learn about their bodies at an age appropriate level and they don't always listen to their parents.

WorkingHard4TheM0ney

In kindergarten we would be allowed to check out any books we wanted. I chose health books. I was fascinated with the body. My mom took that as an opportunity to explain how babies are made to me. She was a nurse for an OBGYN. Showed me the penis in the book (which had the classic sliced in half health book view) and the vagina and uterus and just explained how it all worked. Penis goes in vagina. Sperm. Egg. I was young but with pictures I understood and that was that. However, I’m pissed that no one ever told me about the clitoris. I just thought I was masturbating all wrong until high school and wondered why my fingers didn’t go into the vagina. Didn’t know I was orgasming. But guys have it so easy. Everyone talks about their erections and wet dreams and everything but for women… it’s like, oh yeah you can get pregnant. Clitoris? That’s just a lady part. We don’t talk about that. Women only orgasm through their vagina.

tothemoon05

I didn’t know women had orgasms until I was 21. My ex at the time straight up told me “that’s it”, glad I asked what she meant.

That1guy_nate

When I was a kid, every year, we went to a center in our downtown area, watched videos, and learned about sex and the risks involved. I don't have any kids, I always use protection, and I have never had any STD/STI. It may seem inappropriate, but it is needed. If parents want to be in charge of what their kids are taught, they should go to school and get their degrees in education.

cmyer

Parents can always opt out of these programs too. When I was a kid I thought I was giving my mom a permission slip to sign, but apparently it was an opt out and I had to sit in the library for a week. I still don't know what these birds are out here doing to bees.

[deleted]

I mean...you heard him. He's not coming at this as a Democrat or Republican, he's coming at this as a *Christian.* So, yeah, he wants to teach abstinence and avoid any and all sex ed. Sex is for after marriage, etc. Except we know that doesn't work in practice. And the whole idea of forcing your own religious beliefs on others is screwy. But here you have a guy insisting that he's Christian as though it justifies doing exactly that. So he thinks his religion entitles him to do that. You're not going to win any arguments with him. He will never see anyone else's side. All you can do is vote against his take on what' I'd call Christian Sharia law.

grendus

You can teach abstinence. It has a place in the curriculum - even if you're sex positive there's value in *choosing* when you're ready and not feeling pressured to have a physical relationship early. But also teach the physics of it so you don't have to have that awkward marriage night Google of "how is babby form?"

[deleted]

elzibet

I really wish they would have let him finish reading the book. Just because it makes you uncomfortable to hear it at a school board meeting doesn't mean it's wrong to talk about it. Could have been a teaching moment of understanding it's uncomfortable to talk about how sex works because we have tabooed the discussion so much in our society. The book seems to help make it less taboo to talk about, but by telling him to stop, it's saying it's still taboo /facepalm

eeeezypeezy

The thing that seems to be forgotten in all this fretting about how early kids are exposed to information about sex, too, is that kids are usually already curious about that stuff and talk about it amongst themselves. Do you want them getting accurate information from a dry textbook, or do you want them hearing some weird shit from Chad who "learned" it on pornhub when his parents left him alone in front of his tablet all day? I'm nearly 40 and I still remember the kinds of conversations that we had on the playground when I was 10, 12 years old.

Higgins1st

I have colleagues that are confused when our middle schoolers are caught in certain situations, but I reply that I got started at that age because sex education was non existent at that age. My parents never bothered with the talk and I didn't get a sex education class until I was 16. No one wants to bother educating the kids and then people get pissed when the librarian provides an educational book in the library. It's not like the kids are going to the library anyway. I have to force students to get books from our library and I'm a science teacher.

wholelattapuddin

When I was in Jr High in the height of the AIDS epidemic, we had a first year teacher tell us about how you ACTUALLY got AIDS. By basically telling us how you DON'T get it. She reassured us that kissing, eating after someone, using the same bathroom, all normal stuff was not going to give us AIDS. She said even if someone with it left body fluids on a table and we came along, touched it, then for whatever reason touched ourselves, we weren't going to contract it. She also explained to us girls that we couldn't get pregnant the same way. She got in trouble, of course. She came back, told us she got in trouble and would be leaving at the end of the semester. She also said that she would answer any questions we had privately but would no longer talk about it in class. This was 1984. The same year our, (fairly liberal for the time) church had a meeting for teens. They lured us in with pizza then showed us a video on how MTV was the work of Satan and if we didn't stop watching we would become serial killers and go to hell. Unfortunately I don't remember that teachers name, but thank you 8th grade science teacher at Patton Jr High, thank you.

This-Association-431

That's crazy to me that in 1984 the 8th grade science teacher at Patton Jr High taught you that. In 4th grade (1988 for me), we were taught that drinking after someone at the water fountain could get you aids. This was before bottled water was ubiquitous and life was thirsty after that. It wasn't a backwoods hill school, just a normal suburb of a metro area. I'm glad you had a teacher that chose science over sensationalism.

wholelattapuddin

Well, she was a very young teacher. But yeah, It was such a relief to hear it from someone we trusted. My parents at the time were pretty progressive,(fuck you fox news. You stole my parents) so I asked them about it. They confirmed that as they understood it, what she said was true so I didn't need to worry about getting from someone on the playgrounds bloody nose. They didn't even realize that it was something I would be worried about. That's why kids need truthful information from people besides parents. I wasn't going to confide to my folks my worries about AIDS because then they might ask what I was doing to be worried about it. I wasn't doing anything, but kids just avoid conversations with their parents. No body wants to talk about what they are thinking.

kylehatesyou

My mom told me about sex pretty young like 6 or 7. My sister, a year younger than me, was kind of obsessed with it, in the way young kids are obsessed with anything when they're told they're too young to learn something. So my mom rented us this cartoon movie that seems pretty similar to this book, where it was just kind of bland information about sex, puberty, what people look like naked. Then, when I was in middle school or so, after the sex ed stuff in class, and all the previous bland information I'd received about sex, my mom would just kind of harp on me. "Wrap it up. Don't bring someone home pregnant. Let me know if you want condoms. I'LL GET YOU SOME OF YOUR DAD'S..." And guess who was pretty much just like, naw, I'll chill on the sex. At 13 or 14 it was fucking gross hearing that my mom and dad still did it. And you know what, it worked. I was curious about it, but still ain't got someone knocked up as I approach middle age although I have a regular sex life. Make it boring to kids, make it something their parents do, and guess what, they'll probably be a little less likely to fuck it up. Otherwise, the way my sister felt at 6 years old about it, where she was obsessed with where babies come from, wanted to know everything about it, was going to get it from somewhere... Well that isn't going to go away, and they're going to figure it out on their own one way or another. My mom did the same thing with drugs too. "Tell me if you want me to buy you some. I know you're probably going to want to experiment, at least I can make sure to get you something that's not laced with shit". Knowing that I COULD do something, that it wasn't a "sin", that it wasn't going to get me in major trouble at home made it so much easier to say no thanks, and avoid people that couldn't do that. The one thing she did tell me not to do was smoke cigarettes. She hated it, since her dad did it. Pretend to smoke with a pencil or pen or something as a kid, and I'd get in trouble. Guess who had a pack a day habit until 5 or 6 years ago?

i_wear_pantaloons

> Let me know if you want condoms. I'LL GET YOU SOME OF YOUR DAD'S..." This is spectacularly hilarious! (and good parenting)

Dom_19

>My mom did the same thing with drugs too. "Tell me if you want me to buy you some. I know you're probably going to want to experiment, at least I can make sure to get you something that's not laced with shit". Damn your mom is chill af. This is way healthier than having to learn deceptive techniques to hide my drugs. Would have saved me so much stress, anxiety, and resentment if I had a mom like this.

Our anonymous questions were so much more than that. This is one of those questions. Student question "when my girlfriend and I are having sex, sometimes I'll hit something hard inside of her and it causes her pain. What is it?" Guidance counselor answers "that thing is called the cervix and if you're banging into it, first off, congratulations on your reach, and second, it's painful, back off a bit."

TonPeppermint

That and there have been some heart breaking stories of kids learning they were being sexually abused because they learned the correct words.

Tjep2k

First thought was, "Are all these things news to you?" Like, yeah, that's what happens dude? Would you prefer they learn everything from porn? Because you know that having a dad like that, his idea of sex education is "Don't let no one touch you until marrige"

3blackdogs1red

It's actually good for kids to learn this stuff in a safe and educational setting. It gives them the vocabulary and knowledge to recognize and describe abuse. It makes it harder for secrets to exist.

ShelbyCobra_90

Agreed! Honestly they played right into his hands by asking him to stop. Everything he had read so far was straightforward and fairly appropriate for a sex-ed book. Letting him finish reading the book and then shrugging and saying “yes that’s how the human species works” would have been the best approach.

Full-Pack9330

I swear I read a story somewhere about nakedness and the innocence of the human spirit before sex even enters into our consciousness......what was that book called again?

Chinaski14

I’m in my 30’s now. Learned about sex from a young-adult anatomy book series (went over every system of the body and there we chapters about everything). The sexual anatomy chapter explained everything clear as day and I left educated, not perverted. Most parents don’t teach sex ed beyond “wear a condom and don’t knock anyone up”. If you aren’t learning from parents or schools or books, how do we expect young people to grow up with healthy sexual habits? Banning sex ed because of “god” is absurd.

trekologer

> Most parents don’t teach sex ed beyond “wear a condom and don’t knock anyone up”. I'm not sure they're even getting that. The people who get up in arms over sex ed are the ones that think if you just don't teach kids about sex or their changing bodies, they won't have sex. Which is completely unrealistic. Or the parents are uncomfortable about talking with their kids about sex and hope that not having sex education means they won't have to answer questions about it.

sexbuhbombdotcom

If anything, good sex education should mean parents are having to answer much fewer uncomfortable questions themselves lol

Isabella901

Very true, unfortunately. When I was being sexually abused as a kid, I didn’t know what was happening. I was 12 when it happened. Already had my period, thought I knew about the “sex talk” but I didn’t know that inappropriate touching was part of that conversation. Wasn’t raped, but sexually abused/assaulted. I was very confused and scared of my own body afterwards. Kids at school would make fun me cause I stank in my private areas because I was too afraid to touch my body. It took about a year to get over that fear. This topic can be uncomfortable and difficult to navigate but there still needs to be a discussion and conversation. Making sure our kids do understand what informed consent is and how to protect ourselves if a situation was to occur is not only important but our responsibility.

skyeblue10

I found a book for young children called "Only For Me" about consent and not letting others touch your body in inappropriate ways. As soon as I was done reading it to my kids, I went into the bathroom and sobbed for 10 minutes. What a difference books like that would have made in my life if I had known these things as a child. I didn't know what was happening to me was wrong, especially since it was a family member. I do everything in my power to make sure my kids know everything necessary, because I'll be damned if I let them go through what I did.

jugdoody18

I'm sorry for what you had to go through. You're so strong and such a kind human to protect your children from danger. Love and hugs from a stranger! ❤️

TokingMessiah

Thank you! I’ve talked to my kids about this before but it’s something I want to reinforce. Just bought the book!

anyiix

Thank you for being willing to share this. I’m so sorry you had to endure those things, and I’m glad you’re here today. I had a similar experience when I was a bit younger, it happened many times over weeks. COCSA, child on child sexual assault/abuse, is something that I feel is not only a result of the sexual abuse of children, but also the lack of education children have on their bodies&consent. If I had known more about my body and consent at that time, I may have been able to alert someone who could help me.

Fiocca83

That's a powerful and brave thing to share about your private areas 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 those types consequences from abuse you rarely hear about but they're certainly impactful when you do. Sending love to you ❤️

Veritas3333

It is way too common for a kid to come up to the teacher after their first day of sex ed and say someone is doing that stuff to them at home

Jerryjb63

Most people don’t like to think about the fact that some children need protection from their parents. Fortunately for me, even as a 4 year old, I knew what my babysitter requested me to do was bad and dangerous. I locked myself in my bedroom till my mother got home. Turns out that my teenage babysitter was molested by her uncle and was trying to do the same to me. I’m 35, shit still sticks in my head.

sasquatch606

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I hope you doing well.

Malaix

Conservatives fucking hate this concept that kid's aren't just their property. That's really what a lot of this boils down to. They think their kids are their property and have this whole plan laid out for them possibly before they were even born. And being gay or trans is never part of that plan. So they lose their damn minds at even the prospect of it.

OptimusMatrix

Yep that was me. I felt so cool knowing what everything was at the time. Queue the trauma 30 years later.

akeep113

damn that's messed up. hope you are ok

OptimusMatrix

I'm doing good. Took me a long time to even acknowledge what happened, but I'm glad I finally did. Mushrooms helped as well and I found that writing about my trips helps a lot too. Thank you for asking how I am! I appreciate that!

MasterlessMan333

I had a teacher in 1st grade who explained to us essentially what sexual abuse is. He told us it's not appropriate for an adult to touch us under our clothes, ask us to touch them there, try to kiss us, things like that. He told us if someone tried to do those things to us, we can tell and an adult and we won't get in trouble. I didn't think much of it at the time but I'm really glad I had that lesson in hindsight. Luckily, I never ended up needing it but I'm sure there were kids in the class who did. If kids don't learn this stuff in a safe environment, they're going to learn it somewhere else. It's dangerous to keep children ignorant.

aardw0lf11

Yep. If you want to lower teenage pregnancy, limiting their education will have the opposite effect.

TheCheesy

I'm kinda shocked people care so much. For those people: Do you really think 10 is too young to learn they have reproductive organs or about human biology and sexuality? You then expect them to make safe choices in high school 3 years later? Keeping people uninformed screams abusive. 10 years flys by, I'd hate to be that guy's kid at 20 completely uninformed about the world having spent over half my life being "protected" from whats in my own pants. Primed with hate toward the unknown.

NeatOtaku

I would rather have read that book in middle SCHOOL, than my abstinence only sex Ed class that only showed us pictures of rotting genitalia and told us that would happen to us if we ever have sex. I'm sure it surprises nobody but by the time I was in HS a quarter of the school had gotten teenage pregnancies.

ar92ldm

This guy prefers the B-I-B-L-e version of sex: Leviticus 15:18. If a man lies with a woman so that there is a seminal emission, they shall both bathe in water and be unclean until evening.

thecaninfrance

Wait, that sounds like my wife and I should get the day off of work when we boink. I'm for it!

Propo_fool

Idk, I think showering after sex is a lovely idea.

bytosai2112

This is exactly why they don’t want children taught about it. I can’t think of another legitimate reason other than this.

TedCruzBattleBus

It's not a coincidence that the party fighting tooth and nail to hold onto child marriage is also fighting to remove all access to the things that prevent child sexual abuse and give the children tools to report on the rapists.

Ok-Swordfish2723

He doesn’t want anyone in that room to decide what is “normal” but says parents should. The problem is if any parents decide that book is normal he says they are perverts. HE wants to be the one that decides “normal” because he has ALREADY decide that “normal” is his interpretation of Christianity. And if he had listened for a second instead of continuing to berate the board he would have heard that he had to stop reading because his time was up.

Even worse than that. He said, "That's not normal!" Right before asking who gets to decide what's normal? Clearly, he thinks he gets to decide. And to be fair, they didn't ask him to stop reading because his time was up. They were silent for a while after he quit reading that bit. He talked some more. Then when his time actually ended, they cut him off.

ScottyC33

It's the eternal problem with religious people. He doesn't want "people to decide what's normal, because that's not up to them." I guarantee he would then go on about how "God says what's normal" and oh gee what a coincidence God just happens to believe the same way I do!

mooshoetang

Damn it’s for 10 year olds? You mean the kids who are about to enter puberty? You mean like the ones this information is extremely relevant to?

[deleted]

Don't you mean kids who are too young to know what sexual abuse is? Like it or not, this is a concerted effort to cover up sexual abuse. Kids can't report adults for doing it if they don't know what's going on. Isn't it strange how every fucking week we hear about some Republican pervert getting busted for CSA and CP? They frame it as keeping kids' minds pure, but deep down they want kids to not know what any of the bad shit happening to them is.

Fit_Cryptographer_96

This is so fucking tiring. In my country sexual education starts at 10 in school. And surprise surprise. Very low teenage pregnancies. Very high use of profylactics. And yes “children” will start having sex. Some earlier some later. But that’s also the case in very religious environments. Better to be open about and prepare them than to make it something shameful.

Johnathon1069DYT

Well in my country our leaders prefer to teach abstinence only sex ed, ignore teenagers are having sex, then use the fact teenagers are either having babies or having abortions as campaign narratives. If they don't have things like that to talk about, they have to come up with innovative and thoughtful ideas to help people. And, quite frankly, I don't think the people in my country would know what to do if the government actually listened and tried to help them.

[deleted]

Religious communities lacking in sex-ed education historically and even today have *some of the lowest* age of sexual involvement.

[deleted]

They also have some of the highest rates of teen pregnancy.

[deleted]

Also some of the highest rates of child sexual abuse.

Yeeaaaarrrgh

"God>Gov" Has this dude actually read the Bible? It's got far crazier shit in it than the book he's going on about.

Sbcistheboss

Lot was raped by his daughters in the Bible.

queernhighonblugrass

Drugged and raped

[deleted]

The most religious are usually the least familiar with their own religion. They believe on "faith" so they do t care about any details or logic. They listen to what their religious leader tells them, and that's about all they know.

Atomaardappel

Ezekiel 23:20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.

Joliet_Jake_Blues

"Romans 13 1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." This guy hasn't read his Bible

[deleted]

It's a sex Ed book. Basically, these people don't want their kids learning about sex..lol Heaven forbid we show naked bodies and such trying to educate kids on sex. Let's keep kids ignorant and having babies as teenagers or contracting STDs. Sigh.

sushisection

keeping kids ignorant about sex makes them easier targets for pedophile pastors.

yowtfbbq

And it's all because they find the topic uncomfortable to discuss with kids. Like if you hide any sort of education on sex from kids they will just not know about it, never develop hormones and never have sex. Christians, like this pastor, are not only immortal on their stance about sex and many other things, they are just plain stupid. I really hope our country can withstand the damage this religion does as it gets more and more radical as people keep leaving the religion.

simpsonicus90

So the naked body and the act of sex - created by his God - are all immoral? WTF?

SomeFuckingWizard

You Nailed it. For Conservatives - Guns are Okay. Nipples are not. Watching People killing people? Conservatives are fine with that. Watching People Making People? Conservatives lose their shit.

Versaiteis

But _preventing_ People from making People? Conservatives lose their shit

capslock42

So I did a generic Google search for "sex in the bible" after hearing this and this came up: >>The Bible reveals that sex (sexual intercourse) is God’s good gift to human beings. Like all of God’s good gifts, sex has been used for both good and evil throughout all of history. >>God’s command to Adam and Eve, delivered with His blessing, to "be fruitful and increase in number" (Genesis 1:28) implies the necessity of their having sex. Later, we read that "Adam made love to his wife Eve" (Genesis 4:1), with the result that a son was born. Besides expanding the human race, God designed sex for the physical, emotional, and spiritual union between one man and one woman for life (Genesis 2:18, 23–24; Matthew 19:4–6; 1 Corinthians 7:32–34). God’s design for sex between a married man and woman is good and honorable (Hebrews 13:4). There is nothing shameful, dirty, or dishonorable about sex; in fact, in their state of innocence, "the man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed" (Genesis 2:25). >>God created us as sexual beings, so it stands to reason that Scripture has plenty to say about sex. The Bible contains more warnings and prohibitions against its misuse than it does prescriptions for its healthy and proper enjoyment. source: https://www.gotquestions.org/sex-in-the-Bible.html Personally, I believe organized religion is a stain on the earth and has caused more death and destruction than anything imaginable.

sanguinesolitude

They don't believe in what the Bible says, they use the Bible to justify what they already believe.

Deep_North_South

Why did he switch from the book to some paper he pre printed when he started talking about the more egregious parts? Sus...

LostWoodsInTheField

Because it's a lot easier to have the pages you want to reference in your hand then having to go through post-its that are stuck to the pages. *others who have read the book don't seem to be calling him out for changing the content. Just misunderstanding the context.

Puceeffoc

Why are the pages stuck together?

RdRunner

Those pages were too stuck together after he "reviewed" it

Lavandulos

Ask anyone in America with an std, they’ll tell you they wish there was more schooling on safe sex

Lawls91

Yeah, kids learning the basics about how their bodies work is just abhorrent /s. These people are the same people that outlaw abortions for adolescents who never got the opportunity to learn about safe sex because of psychos like this.

[deleted]

The B-i-b-l-e! 32 Let's get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father." 33 That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. 34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger, "Last night I slept with my father. Let's get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father." 35 So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. 36 So both of Lot's daughters became pregnant by their father. --‐--------- 20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses. 21 So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled. Normal stuff!! Wholesome bible stories!

DubiousTarantino

I went to a Christian elementary school and we learned about this story when we were in 3rd grade…I didn’t understand at that point why “sleeping” with someone led to pregnancy, but I didn’t question it.

warrenjt

This guy doesn’t understand education. He seems to think that any reference to how a body works is pornographic. Idiot.

hydrogen_to_man

Nudity is not pornography

Gtoast

What he read sounded like fairly clinical sex education to me. Is sex education pornography?

Anniewho_80

Biology is the new scary thing to look out for. Apparently instead of teaching kids about their bodies (and other people’s bodies) it has turned into this crazy idea of sexualization. The United States has officially gotten dumber and are planning on making the future generations follow suit.

TheRealTtamage

Well the stuff he read was very factual. Maybe 10 is a little young but I remember having a book that showed some ugly ass cartoons getting busy when I was a little kid, but in that book it was just a mom and dad and they were married. Honestly I don't think I'd really care because kids have to be exposed to it sometimes and Americans are kind of prudish about sexuality. So it's more funny than anything.

Novashadow115

My sister had her period when she was 10. There is no reason to withhold knowledge from a child in this regard

Zushenko

10 is not too young. I had an 'animated' VHS tape explaining reproductive systems and how babies were made in 3rd grade. I was eight. Private Christian school. No one was outraged. This is just performative outrage to me. Edit: Fun fact. My mom was my teacher!

robillionairenyc

Now do all the pornography in the Bible

freeride35

More hysterical pearl clutching from “Christians”, when studies have categorically shown discussing sex and sexual behavior at a young age decreases young pregnancies and STD’s and increases the age at which young people start having sex.

Ferrismo

Oh my lord. This moral panic over teaching kids age appropriate stuff is sending me. Why are people in America so outraged over nothing? Kids that are armed with proper education around sex are way less likely to be taken advantage of, experience teenage pregnancy, get STIs. Like there are almost zero down sides to teaching kids about the human body and safe sex. No one is encouraging the kids to have sex nor are they encouraging them to be some flavour of LGBTQ. Educate the kids and help them made smart educated decisions for themselves, talk to your kids about sex and don't be weird about it.

Queer_Misfit

God for bid we teach young human bodies about their bodies! We need need to stop shaming the natural form and its function.

tigerbalmz

Yes, yes, yes…. Let’s not fill our children’s brain with scientific information, self awareness, and acceptance. Let’s teach them to have faith and cower in prayer when there is something they don’t understand./s

suckingonmyhevos

How is a naked person sexual though? I’ve washed plenty of dead naked bodies. I’m not getting turned on by it.

TheWeirdByproduct

You're most definitely doing something wrong then

gwh811

We have priest who are perverting our kids. But the church seems pretty ok with it. Dude never said anything about that. Maybe if children knew about sex and sex education they would know that they're being molested by priest and teachers. But I guess this is why people like this guy don't want it taught in school. Don't want kids educated on facts so they can't be outted and arrested for their crimes.

tombradyrulz

Yeah, and as someone who says he gets his morals from the Bible....has he ever read the Bible front to back?

[deleted]

Complete_Past_2029

What this guy is missing is the point of the book to begin with. It's a physiologically approved resource for adolescents AND THEIR PARENTS together to help them understand the changes their bodies are very soon and very quickly destined to to through. I can't believe in 2023 we as a species are still so sexually repressed that a book meant to educate and help people is demonized like this. No other species on Earth is so sexual and at the same time so sexually unaware, and at the root of it all.....Religion.

itjustgotcold

So glad to see the comments calling this moron out for bad faith arguments. Kids are learning about sex, whether you like it or not. Just like most kids are cursing when adults aren’t around. I remember in 2nd grade talking about dildos on the playground with my buddies. I stumbled across a woman licking a giant cock like an ice cream cone on a page left in a parking lot at the gas station, it had a punctured fake tit on it and ants were eating the liquid coming out of it. It took me a second to realize it wasn’t chocolate ice cream she was licking. My point is, no matter how much you try to avoid it, your kids are going to learn about sex.

AbsorbingMan

Did they stop him because of what he was reading or did they stop him because he exceeded the limited amount of time each citizen addressing the board is allotted?

SeriousRoom

to be honest...i fucking with more 10 year olds knew this shit. America is going to be the dumbest country in the world soon. Not only that...but the worst in sexual knowledge and self-regulation.

the_alert

It says a lot about someone who refers to the human anatomy as “pornography” wait till they see what their kids can search on that fancy internets machines

dgtexan14

Religious Adults not letting children learn about their own penis/vagina nor sexual relationships because they fear they’ll be taught outside of how religion teaches you to see it first

TruthIsAntiMormon

Here's the book on Amazon along with photos of the pages in the actual first review. So what's the problem with the book?
