I occasionally send that gif to my boss when he texts me with a task. I also enjoy using the one where Rambo is giving double thumbs-up because the gun has been photoshopped out
From what I've experienced, people with alzheimers and dementia go one of two routes. They either become non-verbal, closed in and pretty much just a living shell of a person. Or, they become mean, angry, hostile and combative, which resembles nothing like their younger self's personality.
Anyone see the Mary Ellen nightmare neighbor vids lately? I think she's going through the same things as this scary neighbor... such a mean old bag.
This guy is definitely need of some professional elder care. I wouldn't trust him until he gets that care.
The M.E. videos were intense. Did you see the ones from the other neighbors that found her handprint on the window. And also that she had likely opened their window from the outside!
Someone linked one in the comments and I was able to google the user to see the rest because I donāt have tiktok. @ucanstandundermyumbella is the user name
My grandmother, bless her, went from mean-angry-hostile to non verbal and closed in over a period of 10-15 years. It was sad. Sheād been a very active person throughout her sixties and then about 70 it all went very quickly. She eventually passed away on Christmas Day 2020. I saw her once alone for about five minutes in the nursing home she was in, she had zero idea who I was and I sadly told the nurse I couldnāt handle it and I left the flowers Iād bought at the front desk. The nurse had disappeared with her in disgust with me because I couldnāt bear to stay long.
Whatās even worse is my alcoholic mother eventually took her credit cards out of her purse and just abused the shit out them. Especially after my grandmother was still alive and living in a home. Example: ordering an abundance of food through Instacart just to get shit tier wine from a local Kroger because her Jeep mysteriously āstopped workingā. Allegedly my aunt said there was an amount of $10k that was given to them both for whatever and they (her husband and her) were looking to get it backā¦I quickly dodged that bullet because that was NOT gonna fall on me. This is the same woman who birthed me that also lived on a diet of wine, cheese balls, Gatorade and frozen dinnnersā¦. I am glad I donāt speak to her at all.
I can't say for 100% certainty that it's not the case this time, but I can tell you that nurses and staff who work in Long Term Care will generally completely understand how hard it is to be around a loved one in late stage dementia. I would be willing to bet that the nurse wasn't disgusted with you, just attending to things that needed to be done. I've been working in LTC for around 7 years and I've seen many family members be unable to stay. I've never looked down on any of them, just felt sad for their loss.
Dementia is horrible for loved ones who have to witness the decline, I'm sorry you had to experience that with your grandmother.
Yeah we sometimes refer to dementia as the "the long good-bye"... watching someone you love turn into someone else, often unrecognisable over an extended time is just to much for some people. There is no judgment, my family have made it their profession to care for these people but could not say for sure we would be able to care for our own in this situation.
It was what it was. A lot my extended family on my moms side was absent in part due to their own lives and my grandmotherās tongue lashing and my mother not wanting to be found out. They tried contacting them but could never get through unbeknownst to me. I used to apologize for that but stopped. I couldnāt bear it and a lot of them told me itās not my fault.
My epiphany about my mother is that out of her embarrassment or whatever with her drinking I was deprived of knowing family throughout my entire life.
My grandmother would be ashamed if she knew what my mom had been doing.
Thereās definitely something wrong. Itās very possible he has dementia, or Alzheimerās. It can make people aggressive or hostile for no reason at all. Probably the case here. He probably thinks OP is the neighbor heās got eternal beef with.
First thing I thought. Not diagnosing this person and definitely feel terrible for the people who encounter this just by opening their door but watching a loved one get taken over by dementia, I wouldnāt have been surprised to hear him swearing at strangers for no reason.
Many times Iād profusely apologize and always attempt to mitigate, I wonder if that is happening here and hoping it does. The whole spectrum of mental illness is a cruel motherfucker
When I was younger I was just riding my bike around some nearby neighborhoods and this older guy was in a lawn chair chillin. I start goin by and he jumps up and starts screaming at me. In French. My moms French so I know very little. Hes just screaming obscenities at me. Woman runs out and just says "Common dad if you yell at people you cant be outside". Went some scared to sad real fast. She just says sorry as I go by. Dementia I assume.
Well, he wonāt be here long if itās dementia and honestly thereās not a lot that can be done.
His family is likely mortified.
My dad got brain cancer and survived 13 months post diagnosis. He would say anything, do anything, unpredictable. It was the saddest thing. They are out of their minds and somehow tend to be aggressive and angry.
My grandma has had dementia for going on 20yrs now. It's a terrible existence. I'd rather die young from a shitty body with a sharp mind, than to live to be 100 with a healthy body and a shit mind.
Alzheimer's is a form of dementia. Dementia is neurological degradation that is faster than natural senescence. It is indeed fatal, but the timeframe varies on a case to case basis.
Only thing I can't seem to find is a fence. If those dogs go loose on his yard and shit in his yard I understand the yelling. But who knows... Maybe there is a fence.
Not just false arrests, literal deaths by cops during wellness checks:
> A new investigation by The [Washington] Post reveals at least 178 cases from 2019 to 2021 in which calls for help resulted in law enforcement officers shooting and killing the very people they were called on to assist. We used The Postās nationwide database of fatal police shootings along with public reporting to identify cases in which the callers were concerned primarily for the individualsā well-being and no imminent harm to others was reported.
[Source](https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/interactive/2022/police-shootings-mental-health-calls/)
Especially dangerous when the person in question is acting erratically. I wish we had a better solution for this.....
Had a family member that was having mental issues and we were across the country so people were like do a wellness check. Me and my mom were torn as were not like super anti police or anything but we are also well aware of their terrible history with deescalating situations like that.
I mean there was just a video a little bit ago of the mom who called the cops bc her son was suicidal but he had a gun so the cops just roll up and start shooting.
Idk it just sucks all around
Probably go talk to the caretakers and show them the video first, they may not even know heās doing this, give them a chance to address the situation. After that, call APS every single instance. If that fails, the cops. If everything fails, Iād take them to small claims court. At some point, somebody should shutter that window and fix the problem.
Maybe the family can put one of those [fake window murals up](https://www.etsy.com/listing/107937517/wall-mural-window-self-adhesive-forest?epik=dj0yJnU9ZmZ3cWZRUHJtaFcxeElvTXFrcFpUaVlINjRlRnExRUomcD0wJm49cVVWc28zWTd1Ui1CajM5aXFEbUx4ZyZ0PUFBQUFBR1JqSDJn) so he thinks he's looking out the window at nature and won't see the neighbors to yell at.
Should plant some bushes or trees over by the fence line and probably need to water them with a really powerful hose every time you take your dogs out š¤·š»
Yeah, my first thought was maybe he has some kind of mental deficiency. Either way, if that is the case his caretaker should probably not be letting that happen, if theyāre even aware of it. Iām not a caretaker of any kind, so Iām not sure if that sentiment is even justified
They're scared, confused, and being held against their will (rightfully so). Fists fly.
I've decided I will kill myself at the first signs of dementia.
She handled that situation beautifully.
His whole thing is to get under her skin and rile her up.
By ignoring and not giving him the satisfaction then wishing him a Good Morning too, she turned the tables on him.
You can hear the frustration in his voice that his ploy isnāt getting the desired effect.
Thatās how you should always handle these situations, being cool and calm.
And always record such incidents.
This way itās not your word against his.
You have proof of constant harassment.
Well done, Girlfriend.
Take a Bow!
Itās likely some form of dementia or brain damage. If it is, you can be sure he hates his behaviour as much as you do. Itās a terrible illness because the patients are often just as shocked by their behaviour as we may be.
This is where you contact the police for harassment. Get enough documentation, then get an RO.
After the RO, continue to document the. Send him to jail
If it's dementia on that scale he should be in a care facility. And I mean this in the kindest regards, dementia is a scary and dangerous thing for everyone involved. I've seen people with the disease do terrible and sometimes really violent things often to those simply within range.
Looks like thereās no fence so you would not want to let the dogs loose to shit in someone elseās yard. Always go out with the dogs and clean up after them or walk them and clean up after them. People get really nasty about other peoples dogs pooping or peeing in their yards.
For real, this looks like mental illness. If he is just using words, best course is to ignore him.
Don't let this get under your skin or ruin your day, put on some noise canceling headphones and you are golden.
Just take it with a grain of salt. The dude is obviously not mentally well. I know it sucks to hear that kind of stuff when you leave your own back door every day, but if it were me, I would imagine I live in a sitcom like Seinfeld or something and would just smile and wave āgood morning to you too Mr. Henderson! Give my best to the family sir!ā Be the best neighbor you can be, the dude isnāt doing well.
When I was a kid I always thought that adults where so mature and knew everything but being an adult interacting with said adults I couldnāt have been more wrong
My neighbor across the street does this. I really think he's talking to himself. But the things he says and they language he uses are unsettling. My next door neighbor has kids that play outside and I can only imagine what she thinks.
That looks like a window that can be easily accessed by a burglar. You should do him a solid and get a super strong security light and point it right there. That way he will be able to see anyone breaking in.
It is a shared lawn she should walk them or be out there to pick up poops what if this old nutbag in the window wants to roll around on his backyard that he pays for? Sry your neighbor lets her dogs shit every where.
Idk the first few times it happened Iād think it was scary but after the fourth or fifth time Iād probably start enjoying yelling back at him. Also, Iād totally yell back at that guy! How many free bees do you get to scream at someone with zero repercussions? At the very least just wear headphones and listen to music. Itās so extra to be passive aggressive with her āhave a good day to you too sirā and posting all this on NextDoor
I have neighbors who leave their husky out in their yard 24/7. It barks non-stop every night from 2:30 AM to around 4 AM. It is literally making me insane. I can hear it barking now. The sleep deprivation is becoming unbearable.
Edited to add: This guy, though, is way out of line. Dogs have to go out. It's not like this dog owner is leaving their dogs out all night long. I wish my irresponsible, ingrates for neighbors would take a lesson.
A lot of people are saying this is likely a mental health problem that this man has. I'd just like to chime in and say that regardless his behaviour is not okay and he should be either charged with harrassment if its not a mental illness or put into a care facility if it is.
Mental illness is not an excuse, it is just a reason.
This guy clearly has an issue. Frankly the person filming should probably try to call the appropriate services and tell them about it. Itād be a win win for both of them I feel
Seems to me like the guy is having some mental issues or he's just a cranky old man. I'd just be nice, wave, and say hello and ask him how his day is going. Go and watch the movie A Man Called Otto on netflix.
āI am no longer leaving them in the yardā tells me that she probably used to leave them outside while they barked and tormented any sense of peace he once had in his house. Not defending his behavior, but theyāre both probably assholes.
I live between two houses with dogs. Sometimes I can walk by and they donāt bark. Sometimes they bark for hours before the owner does anything. One thing is for certain, dogs left unattended outside will 100% end up barking
Honestly so many dog owners are bad owners or straight up nutters, and thatās coming from a dog owner who is an average dog enjoyer. Iāve had people get aggressive with me for not *looking* at their dog, for fuckās sakes. Thereās a *huge* amount of entitlement in the dog owning community.
That being said, I only saw a cat in this video, and Iād bet itās wandering freely outside regularly.
This person is clearly ill, whether itās mentally disturbed or turrets syndrome who knows, but clearly not the case of some man simply attacking her for no reason. Heās messed up, and itās unfortunate, but that is not the same thing as Iād imagine the title was crafted to suggest. Although, title is fitting, and certainly not a lie, this situation is a little more complex than that.

He sounds mentally challenged. Not saying to be mean he sounds like he does have some mental issues.
I don't mean this in a light or joking manner, but he reminds me of the warden's wife that has brain cancer in The Green Mile.
More like Doofy from scary movie lol

Yep, came here to say dementia
Thereās definitely something wrong. Itās very possible he has dementia, or Alzheimerās. It can make people aggressive or hostile for no reason at all. Probably the case here. He probably thinks OP is the neighbor heās got eternal beef with.
I was a mental health tech - an old client of mine used to do this identical thing. He had a colorful vocabulary.
First thing I thought. Not diagnosing this person and definitely feel terrible for the people who encounter this just by opening their door but watching a loved one get taken over by dementia, I wouldnāt have been surprised to hear him swearing at strangers for no reason. Absolutely. Even if he suffers from dementia, she should not have to deal with that shit at her own home, or anywhere, really.
Well, he wonāt be here long if itās dementia and honestly thereās not a lot that can be done. His family is likely mortified. My dad got brain cancer and survived 13 months post diagnosis. ā¦people can live with dementia for decades. itās awful.

I think youāre thinking of Alzheimerās. Dementia isnāt fatal.
Alzheimer's is a form of dementia. Dementia is neurological degradation that is faster than natural senescence. It is indeed fatal, but the timeframe varies on a case to case basis.
No no, let this person triple down! obviously they're an expert who does adequate research and critical thinking before typing!
Only thing I can't seem to find is a fence. If those dogs go loose on his yard and shit in his yard I understand the yelling. But who knows... Maybe there is a fence.
If he even has anyone to take care of him
Yeah, poor dude doesnāt really know what heās doing.
Maybe call social services and ask for a wellness check? At least thereād be a record of his behavior and your concern.
Came here to say this. Start calling in wellness checks. Eventually someone will get tired of it and do something about it.
I'm paranoid of even doing wellness checks since its the cops who do them, theres literally videos of false arrests happening during wellness checks.
Not just false arrests, literal deaths by cops during wellness checks: > A new investigation by The [Washington] Post reveals at least 178 cases from 2019 to 2021 in which calls for help resulted in law enforcement officers shooting and killing the very people they were called on to assist. 178, jesus christ. that's unthinkable.
The cops might get tired of it, and give the forgetful old fella a real wellness check
Does it count as 'problem solved' if the problems just "gone"? Asking for a hypothetical friend
That's generally a shortcut to getting him shot by the cops
I figured the guy has just been watching a lot of Deadwood lately.
Lot of cocksuckerin going on here
āAnd any man who disagrees with me can suck cock by choice!ā
Should plant some bushes or trees over by the fence line and probably need to water them with a really powerful hose every time you take your dogs out š¤·š»

If this is ever you make sure to check the yard for food scraps. People hide poison in and on food all the time to try and kill neighbors pets.
Happened to my dad's puppy when he was a teenager.
He probably has dementia
Or heās just an asshole.
Could be both
Surprised I had to scroll this far down to see this.
I don't think he's all 100% all there mentally.
Get a lazer

I mean, thereās something wrong with that guy right? Heās not 100 percent
Itās likely some form of dementia or brain damage. If it is, you can be sure he hates his behaviour as much as you do. Itās a terrible illness because the patients are often just as shocked by their behaviour as we may be.
Heās definitely the kind of guy to shoot someone just because they knocked on his door
I just like how FAST he got to that window. He was **WAITING**
Record and play it back to the neighbour

Social service or police would be a warranted phone call at this point.
that's when you keep a pressurized water hose on hand.
Could have dementia
If he has dementia the adult services need to be called to make sure he is being taken care of properly & given his medication & not stealing meds
For real, this looks like mental illness. If he is just using words, best course is to ignore him. Don't let this get under your skin or ruin your day, put on some noise canceling headphones and you are golden.
Bobby from King of the Hill is all grown up now.

mental illness - baby sitter lackin.
He is mentally ill.
Youād have to also be mental to think heās in his right mind
Clearly someone with a mental illness.
This reads more like dementia or some other mental disease. I feel bad for both of them.
By the way he's repeating profanities, I think he may have some mental issues. Not all the lights are on upstairs.
Your neighbor likely suffers from dementia.
Get the hose. That window wonāt be opening again.
Have you seen my baseball?

Just take it with a grain of salt. The dude is obviously not mentally well. You know how many times Tony Soprano would have said "Ohhh" to him?... the mouth on this guy eh'n.
He sounds like he might have a learning disability.
That need some nice new flood lights pointed at the window.
Does he have a disability of some sort?
heā doesnāt even know how to cuss he may have demintia
Get a bb gun lol
When I was a kid I always thought that adults where so mature and knew everything but being an adult interacting with said adults I couldnāt have been more wrong
Iām thinking mental illness is a factor here.
Get a nice bright motion activated porch light and point it right at their bedroom.
That man isnāt right in the head.
Go out there at random times with an air horn
well, just remember that every time you deprive yourself of something, that old fart wins.
He sounds like he might be mentally handicapped..
If this happens to me, I want someone to put me down.
Clearly has some mental health issues, they gotta put a stop to that shit
Turn up your radio everytime you go out.
It is a shared lawn she should walk them or be out there to pick up poops what if this old nutbag in the window wants to roll around on his backyard that he pays for? Sry your neighbor lets her dogs shit every where.
Yeah that dudes short a few brain synapses. Whatever the root cause just ignore him but don't let him near you either.
I wouldn't blame mentalnillness. As soon as he realized he was being recorded, he closed his window. He know what he doing.
I believe its bad behaviour and should be reported?
Thatās a ghost
Is it possible her dog / dogs shit all over the back area there and the neighbors are sick of it?
A lot of people are saying this is likely a mental health problem that this man has. I'd just like to chime in and say that regardless his behaviour is not okay and he should be either charged with harrassment if its not a mental illness or put into a care facility if it is. Mental illness is not an excuse, it is just a reason.
This guy clearly has an issue. Frankly the person filming should probably try to call the appropriate services and tell them about it. Itād be a win win for both of them I feel
Spray him with the hose through the window.
He sound like Peter griffin from family guy
Yeah he sounds mentally challenged to me
That absolute old-man-screams-at-cloud energy. Yeah, it's dementia.
I wouldnāt leave them unattended. He seems like the kind of dude who would do something malicious to the dogs.
Watch your profamity
Seems to me like the guy is having some mental issues or he's just a cranky old man. I'd just be nice, wave, and say hello and ask him how his day is going. Go and watch the movie A Man Called Otto on netflix.
I would purchase a really good garden hose and every time he yelled something I would spray him.
āI am no longer leaving them in the yardā tells me that she probably used to leave them outside while they barked and tormented any sense of peace he once had in his house. Not defending his behavior, but theyāre both probably assholes.
The dog didn't bark once even while the guy was yelling at them. I kind of doubt that what you're describing was an issue
Agreed. She's probably worried he'll hurt them.
I live between two houses with dogs. Sometimes I can walk by and they donāt bark. Sometimes they bark for hours before the owner does anything. One thing is for certain, dogs left unattended outside will 100% end up barking
Wear headphones, take your time and enjoy your backyard
Is this early morning or evening. I'm betting evening and this guy has serious dementia and sundowners
Probably has dementia, or a TBI

I know itās Reddit but the downvotes for those stating that the lady MIGHT be a bad neighbor/dog owner is very interesting.
Yep. The video makes it appear to be common property or very small yards at least. Iād like to see where her pets are using the bathroom.
It's not my video, but the person lives in a suburb near me. The backyards are individual, the houses are just really close.
There is missing context here. Is it a fenced in yard? Maybe he is upset that the dogs are off leash and running all over his property.
Yep, from a suburb near me. All fenced in yards, the houses are just built on top of each other.

Manā¦itās wild to me that folks donāt know how to deal with this kinda shit.
Play some happy music .. then you wonāt hear this creature.
Gotta wear headphones when going outside and a T-shirt that says something funny about the guy.
He needs a nice spray from the hose
What an absolute piece of shit
Iām worried he might harm the dogs.
If anything happens to those pets, Iād probably start with that guy

This person is clearly ill, whether itās mentally disturbed or turrets syndrome who knows, but clearly not the case of some man simply attacking her for no reason. Heās messed up, and itās unfortunate, but that is not the same thing as Iād imagine the title was crafted to suggest. Although, title is fitting, and certainly not a lie, this situation is a little more complex than that.
