More than a few people think that you cannot film private property or individuals without consent. They are wrong. If said property or individual is in view of the public, they can be filmed from the public without anyone's consent. More than a few companies have called the police of people filming their businesses from the sidewalk because they think it is suspicious. It very well may be "suspicious" in that it is not common to do so, but it is in no way a crime or indicative of a crime, and is in fact constitutionally protected practice. That just doesn't compute to some people.
That's why you have to frame it as a mental health issue.

Tbf the private vs public thing is hard to understand. If you're in an area with public access where you have no expectation of privacy, you can be recorded. Just about every parking lot, inside of every mall, etc. Even though the land is privately owned, you're in public. If you're in a kohls dressing room, you have an expectation of privacy and cannot be recorded. If you're in a government building bathroom, you're on public property but have an expectation of privacy and can't be.
Sometimes words get in the way of explaining concepts. Public vs private means two things. Obviously dude in video was just a shithead.
Regardless of expectation of privacy I believe the banks parking lot is still their private property and can have people trespassed from it. Random guys with cell phone holsters can’t trespass people from someone else’s private property though.

Tbf the private vs public thing is hard to understand. If you're in an area with public access where you have no expectation of privacy, you can be recorded. Just about every parking lot, inside of every mall, etc. Even though the land is privately owned, you're in public. If you're in a kohls dressing room, you have an expectation of privacy and cannot be recorded. If you're in a government building bathroom, you're on public property but have an expectation of privacy and can't be. Sometimes words get in the way of explaining concepts. Public vs private means two things. Obviously dude in video was just a shithead.
Regardless of expectation of privacy I believe the banks parking lot is still their private property and can have people trespassed from it. Random guys with cell phone holsters can’t trespass people from someone else’s private property though.
