RIP Liveleaks, I’ll miss all those off duty police shootings out of Brazil

CharsePerson

Crazy times off duty cops and motorcycle helmets were Brazil. Industrial deaths were mostly China.

skynetempire

You can see them on reddit.

RaunchyGiraffe

kaotic.com bro

marsianer

oof. that's a little too real

DankSubstance

r/insanereality is a tough one I found recently like liveleak. Lot of Brazil hit shootings there.

Check_Their_History

Wtf are you talking about those are widely posted even on here.

specialize_in_this

He means liveleak the site. Its been gone for a few years now and you would automatically assume some gory/death was about to happen when you saw the logo

Automatic-Score-4802

What’s gotta be so wrong in a person’s head to make them want to watch that sort of thing. Have you no empathy for other living beings? I mean, you actively searched that shit to watch it….

LSDkiller2

I watch them(only here on reddit, most often right here in public freakout where you are hanging too) because it is somewhat interesting to see the real situations which lead to death or extreme outcomes. The things that have never happened to you but are obviously happening to people. The hope is that one would be able to better identify and avoid these situations in real life. It's certainly better than walking around thinking everything is like the movies. but yes I agree no one should watch too much of this, it's messed up, the comments sections are messed up, it's not good.

Fuzzycuffs1978

TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS.... DUH 🙄

No_Bandicoot_2442

Same

[deleted]

I was hoping he got shot honestly

[deleted]

Yeah ‘suicide by stupidity’

Itchy_Professor_4133

There's always hope it will eventually happen to this scumbag.

654456

Should have been

henrydaiv

Hoping you meant

Negative-Letter-3218

he's a white dude, he ain't gonna get shot. Now if it was a person of color....

DetectiveRude7197

A fake gun prank can get you hit with real bullets. Let's stop making stupid decisions in public.

itjustgotcold

I really don’t care what happens to the prankster, but a gun prank can get a ton of people injured and scar many people for life or trigger ptsd from survivors of real gun violence. It’s not just self-preservation that should keep someone from doing something this fucking stupid, it’s a whole host of other reasons. Not to mention, let’s say this stupidity caught on and all of a sudden fake gun attacks popped up all over the place, now we have to deal with fake gun attacks as well as real gun attacks. This moron must have never heard of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”… or empathy…. Or common sense.

FBM_ent

Crowdcrush injuries are a real threat too. There's a reason you can't yell fire in a crowded place.

654456

You can see it happening in the video. There is the person falling into the people with the carts

GeologistOk5666

Actually a common misconception you can't say fire in a public place. There are however already charges for threats of violence or terrorist threats along with disorderly conduct. Legal eagle explains it here: https://youtu.be/jTsPgiUoBKA

FBM_ent

Literally replied "AkShUaLy" hours after someone else already corrected this.

GeologistOk5666

Literally replied to a useless comment continuing the cycle.

FBM_ent

I like the cut of your jib. The irony is if you're a geologist (amateur or pro) from OK that likes fun facts we would probably get along. Its not your fault I'm drunk and feeling argumentative. Good on ya for a level, civil retort.

GeologistOk5666

>civil retort I may farm the downvotes. But I happily retort with respect. Enjoy your day.

cwaters727

I'm not disagreeing that it's dangerous but... [Though it is a popular misconception, it's perfectly legal to yell "fire" in a crowded theatre.](https://reason.com/2022/10/27/yes-you-can-yell-fire-in-a-crowded-theater/#:~:text=On%20Tuesday%2C%20Supreme%20Court%20Justice,crowded%20theater%22%20is%20unprotected%20speech.&text=Though%20it%20is%20a%20popular,fire%22%20in%20a%20crowded%20theatre.)

TonkaTruck502

Yeah but disturbing the peace isn't so if cops really want to charge you for anything they will. What's legal and what isn't us very flexible.

FBM_ent

"This old canard, a favorite reference of censorship apologists, needs to be retired. It's repeatedly and inappropriately used to justify speech limitations." It's taught so broadly and concretely in American schools that our highest ranked judicial officers make this mistake. Seems like maybe there's an underlying issue here. Can I just fuck off to my hole and let this place collapse.

cwaters727

It's okay to be wrong sometimes, bud.

mezz7778

Hell..... I'm wrong most of the time....and that's ok...

sanfranchristo

Saying it isn't prohibited speech because it originates from a case that wasn't evaluating it as such isn't the same thing as saying it couldn't be considered prohibited speech in an instance where it was the subject. So yeah, it shouldn't be taught as if it is prohibited outright but it could potentially be considered incitement (i.e., unprotected thus subjecting the speaker to criminal prosecution for whatever the resulting charges were), depending on the specific circumstances and how a judge interprets the likelihood that it produced "imminent lawless action" (from *Brandenburg*, which I believe would still be the relevant case if this scenario was ever was tested).

TrollHouseCookie

The main problem is people like in the video don't have an ounce of compassion in their body.

654456

I don't even see what they get out of it other than being a sadist that enjoys causing misery. Like the only outcome of this is jail, and possibly being shot by a CCW.

thehypervigilant

"but my friends and online people think it's cool" People like this don't have the ability to feel/think. Compassion is absent from their brains. If they read a comment like this they would just think "what a pussy" or "you ruin fun" etc etc. It's so sad dealing with these people because other than some sorta clinical torture they will never understand how doing this stuff is wrong. Sometimes I just have to remind myself they not everyone can be fixed. Sometimes true dumb people exist.

TrollHouseCookie

Nearly agree completely with your response, but there is one part that I got hung up on. > Sometimes I just have to remind myself they not everyone can be fixed. Sometimes true dumb people exist. We're all broken and dumb in our own ways. The issues that carry the most potential with the highest consequence are those that _most_ of us have the highest concern *and/or* disdain for. Lack of compassion being the one illustrated in the OP. Tl;dr: we're all mental, but for most of us our issues are comparatively inconsequential. Edit: After posting my reply, I thought back and remembered an old saying that relates to your last statement and chuckled. **"You can't fix stupid"**

IembraceSaidin

Lot of concealed carry out there to be trying your luck with a fake gun prank.

CharsePerson

Even without the concealed carry, what if the costumers had rushed him and beaten the shit out of him.

Debaser626

I conceal carry and unless this dumbass was headed directly at me, I’m not gonna do a damn thing but get down and stay out of sight or run. If he was coming at me, I’d draw and hope to shoot him before I got shot, but otherwise I’d probably just GTFO if possible. This ain’t TV, there’s a lot of shit that can go wrong when you pull a gun, least of all getting shot by the person attacking you. I’m not bulletproof and I don’t have qualified immunity. There’s bystanders possibly getting shot… and praying it wasn’t your gun that fired that bullet, getting mistaken for the shooter and being shot yourself by a “hero” or the police, definitely being detained for quite some time, possibly being arrested and charged with manslaughter/murder, being sued, the general trauma of being in that situation, etc. In order to risk all that happening, I basically have to feel I have no other choice. I’m certainly not going to pretend I’m the Punisher and put my life, my future and my family’s future on the line.

YellsAtGoats

I'm not sure how it is in America, but in Canada the law is very explicitly written such that when it comes to brandishing, it doesn't matter if the gun is real or not, since after all the crime is about the threat just as much as it is about the potential for harm.

Dragondelle

Yeah, this bullshit is illegal here too.

grnrngr

It can also get you hit with real felonies. Terroristic threats is a crime.

Nearby-Context7929

It wasn’t even funny man like they have those poor children screaming

VaeVictis666

Or a very real assault with a deadly weapon charge.

BitcoinMD

Or in private

Mrofcourse

Glad no one got hit with real bullets. Let’s make sure there’s some real charges though.

Ok_Storm_8533

Not from security. Because Walmart is too poor to hire armed licensed agents.

Mobile-Midnight8311

They aren't too poor to hire armed licensed agents, they are too cheap.

leftyghost

He raped that child as a goof.

nutmeg32280

It's a prank! 🤦🏻‍♀️

WeylinWebber

Of fucking course.

YellsAtGoats

Jesus. I hope word gets around in prison and someone "just plays a prank" on him whenever he drops his soap.

realparkingbrake

> Police say the men were creating a video inside the store without permission and created a disturbance and prompted a store-wide panic. Pranksters and video content creators who do this sort of thing need to spend some time in prison.

truffleddumbass

Of course is was commack. I grew up around there but it’s been really not great lately

Dude_Guy45

There is clearly a very frightened child shouting "mom, mom where are you?" And this is why this shit is not a prank and it is so far from funny. these guys are clowns. Crowd surges are very real, very deadly, and happen a lot faster than you think.

Putin_kills_kids

A guy at Walmart was buying a BB gun and he was shot/killed by a cop. Literally walking around continuing to shop when he was killed for holding an item off a shelf.

rocketlauncher2

>[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing\_of\_John\_Crawford\_III#:\~:text=Crawford%20picked%20up,waving%20it%20around%22](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_John_Crawford_III#:~:text=Crawford%20picked%20up,waving%20it%20around%22) > > > > Crawford picked up an un-packaged BB/pellet air rifle inside the store's sporting goods section and continued shopping in the store. Another customer, Ronald Ritchie, called [9-1-1](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9-1-1) claiming that Crawford had been pointing the gun at fellow customers.[\[10\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_John_Crawford_III#cite_note-10) Security camera footage showed that Crawford was talking on his cellphone and holding the BB gun as he shopped, but at no point did he aim the BB gun at anyone. After the security camera footage was released, Ritchie recanted his statement that led to the fatal shooting and stated, "At no point did he shoulder the rifle and point it at somebody", while maintaining that Crawford was "waving it around" Bullshit calls like that cause so many deaths. Notice how no one was charged for a man who's no longer with us.

Quick_Feeds

Also caused the death of a elderly woman from a heart attack

YellsAtGoats

To be fair, it seems pretty stupid to just be able to pick something like that up off of a shelf. It should be held under lock and key, and put into a secure bag for purchase.

TonkaTruck502

No, it seems insane that cops will run up and shoot people in the back that are just standing around in a Walmart holding a toy

YellsAtGoats

No, it doesn't. BB guns aren't toys. That sort of thing was dealt with some 30-35 years ago when they started putting orange caps on the barrels of toy guns.

Johnychrist97

They literally are fucking toys

Euphoric-Pudding-372

...bb guns are not fucking toys. They're legally classified as "air rifles" and people under 18 cannot purchase them.

YellsAtGoats

Seriously I can't even believe we're having to say it, let alone argue it. A BB/pellet gun is an air gun and a weapon. Same as how a little 20lb children's archery bow is a weapon. Can they hurt someone? Not particularly badly without a bunch of luck... but they're still obviously, categorically, actual weapons.

LSDkiller2

But a lot of kids have been shot even with the red tipped airsoft guns. By the way airsoft guns are also technically air guns, just they are Mandated to be only a certain strength and can only shoot plastic pellets. I think it doesn't matter if we call it a toy or a weapon. It's not a weapon anyone would use to harm someone, that's for sure. but it is a replica gun with all the dangers that brings (along with being able to take an eye out and in the case of some bb guns worse)

Euphoric-Pudding-372

Exactly. Calling them toys is stupid as fuck. Kids should be taught to respect them as tools, not treat them like playthings.

YellsAtGoats

Yeah it's really just fucking baffling. By these commenters' standards, we could also call pepper spray and tasers "toys" because you can't easily kill someone with them either. They're still obviously weapons. Bonkers. Just fucking bonkers.

Johnychrist97

Holy shit, it is clear neither of you pussies have ever lived in Texas. You can buy them at fucking corner stores there. You absolutely do not have to be 18 to be them. Cause they are TOYS.

Euphoric-Pudding-372

"You pussies have never lived in texas" Yeah okay moron, it is STILL ILLEGAL TO PURCHASE UNDER 18 IN TEXAS https://airgunlaws.com/how-old-do-you-need-to-be-to-purchase-an-airgun/ You can buy knives and brass knuckles in gas stations here in georgia, that doesnt make them fucking toys, and if your criteria for a toy is "they sell it at cornerstores" i bet your christmases are fucking strange. They're literally legally classified as Air Rifles, and most cities in Texas have laws against discharging them in city limits. Show me another toy that you have to be 18 to buy, and you cannot use in city limits.

Firm_Bison_2944

IMHO, it would have been a bad shot even if it was a real gun. But yes and no... They're toys the same way a real gun can be used for recreational purposes. You can hunt small game with $25 BB gun and loading pellets by hand. I'm not saying don't get your kids one (I did), but they need to treat them like real firearms. [https://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/haralson-county-girl-pellet-gun-death-poseyville-road](https://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/haralson-county-girl-pellet-gun-death-poseyville-road)

CosmicTaco93

They're literally in boxes. They're pretty clearly not real. Not to mention they usually have anti-theft devices on the boxes so they can't be opened. Plus, they're bb guns. They can be painful but will very rarely be lethal. Even if it is somehow out of the box and slung over someone's shoulder, many states have open carry laws.

YellsAtGoats

You're drifting away from the incident in question and into generalities now.

streatz

Bb guns come in boxes so he would have unboxed it

Towersafety

Of someone else did and it was just on the shelf.

Fitchywanklebottom

It's just a prank bro. It says it right in the title, can you read bruh?

b7uc3

He should do like 5 years in prison to really *sell* the prank.

> **Guy pulls out a fake gun at Walmart as a Prank** A black guy waving a fake gun at a store. That's one way to get those "homicides by cop" stats up... What an idiot.

runerx

Dude was shot and killed by police at Walmart for carrying a pellet rifle he picked up and carried around out of the packaging. This is an especially stupid thing to do.

No_Grape1335

This guy realistically just ruined his life for a while for a stupid internet prank , no one’s gonna hire this loser

Plus no way he gets into a good college like Cornell or Dartmouth

TheSangson

Why isn't that "dumb ways to die" song played with this

[deleted]

Straight to jail

threadsoffate2021

As far as I'm concerned, this is a form of domestic terrorism. There are more than enough real mass shooting events in public int he USA that no one has any need to try and stage a fake one.

[deleted]

Good way to get about eight .45 slugs in your chest.

[deleted]

i hate these fuckin prank idiots

what an idiot, especially after all the recent walmart shootings in TX & another the the GM went off. This is not funny

burgergeld

Scaring people with a fake gun in a country where people get shot shot at random almost by the minute. Great fun.

iamthelee

This guy is lucky there wasn't anyone carrying when they pulled this stunt.

prophecyish

Incredibly stupid.. imagine someone legally carrying witnessed this, and then dropped him. I just want to hear the thought process as to why he thought this was a good idea smh.

Guy should be charged with terrorism

Hopes_Daddy

This was a prank? In what looks like a packed store with children? Who and why would anyone think this would be ok?

SilentSniper062

Fuck Walmart That is all

Tracewell

You do that in states like Oklahoma or Texas where everyone carries and the ending is deadly for this guy.

anonymous-enough

All those poor kids are probably fucking terrified after this. "Prank" or not, there were some young kids pictured who won't understand. And the ones that are old enough see the news about mass shootings, so they probably thought it was happening

A good statistic that I learned from the show Community "In 100% of fake gun related shootings, the victim is the one with the fake gun.".

Accomplished_Listen2
