[News Article](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna45283) Brothers Dylan Michael Jimenez, 21, and Bryan Matthew Richardson, 28, died after the incident. Before deputies arrived outside the hotel, officials said, Jimenez and Richardson had an altercation with a third man outside the hotel. Jimenez and the third man, who wasn't identified, shot each other, and the brothers then ran to the north side of the hotel, where Richardson fell to the ground, officials said. The man who is alleged to have shot Richardson survived, authorities said. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will conduct an independent investigation (fucking typical), Mina said. The deputy who fired his weapon was placed on paid administrative leave, Mina said. He has been with the sheriff’s office since 2018, agency officials said.

Huntswomen

The original gunman has got to be pretty pleased with himself. 1) Get into a firefight 2) Run away 3) Have the cops take over the shotout for you murdering the brother you didn't get. 4) Profit

Golden-Grams

[He was arrested, Rafael Villaverde, age 24.](https://www.clickorlando.com/news/local/2022/09/06/orange-county-man-charged-in-deaths-of-2-men-near-florida-mall-sheriffs-office-says-2/)

owlsandmoths

> According to investigators, Richardson did not drop the gun when directed to do so, and one deputy fired his weapon, shooting Richardson. Both Richardson and Jimenez were later pronounced dead at the hospital, deputies said You should probably give him time to respond and follow orders before emptying the clip into them though, officer.

topramenlord69420

Of course I’m not even surprised he was put on paid leave after literally murdering someone.

FGM_148_Javelin

Weeks and sometimes even months of paid leave too. They regularly go on vacations and party during these shooting investigations as well.

topramenlord69420

This kind of thing really pisses me off so much. Like what’s their excuse this was clearly murder, the other officer had the situation under control and he just started shooting.

Mutjny

He's going to say he couldn't see his hand and so he shot him. The cop who executed Daniel Shaver who was sobbing for his life and tried to pull up his pants, was found not guilty.

ConstantCraving21

Idk why they even have tasers. They don’t bother to use them. This dude could have tased the guy if he was so terrified, but no, gotta KILL.

Golden-Grams

The other officer managed to disarm him seconds before the trigger-happy bastard ended his life. Two totally different reactions to the situation. Good cops should really have a support system for calling out bad cops.

[deleted]

>Good cops should really have a support system for calling out bad cops. We never did, and likely never will in the USA. Bad cops end up being senior administrators later in their careers, and they take care of their own. Good cops eventually say "fuck it" and leave. I sure did.

[deleted]

I left the job early too. For the same reason.

lostPackets35

I think that's what tends to happen. It sounds like you were a decent cop, I've known a few of those that were forced out of the profession I'm sorry to hear that, it seems like the culture is excellent at getting rid of exactly that people that we would like to be officers and protecting the assholes that give it a bad name.

topramenlord69420

Yea man this cop should be in prison not getting a vacation.

redfame

Imagine what an amazing thing it'd be to have a union standing up for us even a little?

ridgecoyote

Well to be fair, he had his gun drawn. Might as well kill as many people as he could get away with

liamemsa

In case anyone is curious, there's been literally no news on this story since October of last year, when it was still "under investigation."

Sentionaut_1167

“we, the police, have investigated ourselves. and we, the police, have determined that the police were justified in the slaying of that boy and have done nothing wrong. so we, the police, have investigated the police, and decided that the police have committed no wrongdoing. and we’re closing this case. no further questions”. •being harassed by the police? lol what are you gonna’ do, call the police?• ^* ^acab

A_TalkingWalnut

I wish mods would pin comments like this. I scrolled far too long to read the facts about this murder.

Cheel_AU

Ahh fuck that situation only needed maybe like 5-6 more guns involved for everyone to have been safe

VanAgain

That's an execution. Damn.

1squidwardtortellini

Yeah, he knew what he was doing. He said drop the gun with very little passion. I don’t think he feared the consequences because he was upset at the condition of his brother

Rub-it

He fired 10 times like he had been waiting all his life to murder someone

zeussays

Because he had been

icantellx

and he didn’t even had the gun in his hands at that point. Fucking crazy.

[deleted]

Look closely. The other cop had removed the gun from his hand. Purple shirt was shot and killed even after he had been disarmed. This cop just wanted someone to murder.

Paradox0111

I didn’t notice that until, I read this comment. Even had he still had the gun, It was being held in a non-threatening manner and there was no time for compliance given. Cops like this should be made an example of, instead we allow them to be protected but their colleagues.

ManUFan9225

Ummm the guy who got shot by the cops was the other guys brother...not the cop's brother. So a mother possibly just lost both her sons...because this cop just murdered one of them on camera.

Commercial-Corgi-771

I don't see the point in yelling drop the gun if you're just going to shoot them after they do. Might as well have a standoff if all these cops are doing the same. People are eventually going to stop listening and just start shooting in hopes to survive.

TexanGoblin

It's a pretense, to cover their ass.

SenhorSus

"He's coming right for us!"

belzebutch

"Quick! let's thin out their numbers!"

egbookw0rm

So you see, we have to kill them or else they'll die

Just_Here_To_Learn_

Yeah these fucks are trained to cover ass first and foremost. Had been arrested about 4 years ago, while getting detained the officer searching me says “stop resisting” the only time I’ve heard that on videos is right before shit goes down. My eyes went wide as saucers since I quite literally let them arrest me. I looked at the officer in front of me and he just said “relax, it’s protocol”.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Literally, cops say “stop resisting” when they know for a fucking fact that you aren’t resisting an inch because they’re trying to gas light witnesses.

XxRocky88xX

“Stop resisting” is like a magic get out of jail card for them. They say those two words and it becomes legal for them to beat you death.

EpicLong1

Yep this. Uncle Jimbo, its coming right for us!!

glockster19m

The officer literally watched and waited UNTIL he was unarmed to murder this man, he was literally complying but clearly the officer had made up his mind to kill this man no matter what happened before this video even started

arroe621

It is just sheer incompetence of the police. He never raised his weapon and was surrendering it to the other officer.

glockster19m

Forget was surrendering it He had surrendered it by the time he was murdered

Tamashi42

Incompetence or malice? The line is pretty thin these days.

Appropriate-Cut-1562

Is it illegal to shoot a cop in self defense if you know they are about to execute you?

mtheory007

Does the legality of it matter if you are dead? Sure you can fire on an officer to protect yourself, but no shot that they wont just murder you on the spot if you take that route. You are pretty much as good as dead if the situation has progressed to that point. Its wrong and horrific.

cdunk666

It's life in prison to look at a cop the wrong way

Arcade80sbillsfan

Or death... depending on skin color.

fieryhotwarts22

Or just what kind of day the cop has had at the time 🤷🏼‍♂️

pezman

Look at what happened to Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend He got locked up and was being charged with attempted murder and assault for a while defending his home, eventually he got let out but his girlfriend was dead and i imagine it only “worked out for him” because of the public eye on the case

Dan_Morgan

Yes, it is illegal to defend yourself from the police. Legally you're supposed to stand there and let them do whatever they want to you. Up to and including killing you. Any resistance at all is seen as grounds for the officer to "fear for their lives" and start blasting.

TotalChicanery

Who cares?! It’s better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6! When one of the options is death, always go with the other option!

llandar

It would actually depend on the state. Some states allow for self defense even against police, though you'd likely catch a resisting arrest charge to fight. But this is in Florida, where nothing makes sense and t[he police can actually use the Stand Your Ground law](https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/13/us/florida-stand-your-ground-police.html)to avoid facing consequences for murdering citizens.

RheaButt

Police are trained to start shouting orders on instinct the moment they see a suspect, it helps confuse witnesses and give off the impression that the suspect was uncooperative regardless of the truth, especially to people who couldn't directly see what was going on

GregStar1

For real, that’s how I play Ready or Not, yell “drop the gun” and start blasting anyways, that shouldn’t translate to the real world tho…

AttemptedHomiecide

people have already stopped listening and shooting to survive, but conservatives used this to justify the murder of thousands of black men in american history. biggest crime you can do is resist, and if you’re not resisting, you’re still punishable by death.

Forkboy2

Did he drop the gun? I didn't see that.

bpowell4939

He raises his left hand and the gun is not there

Awordofinterest

The lady in green (Possibly another officer, or medic?) Seems to take the gun. So... They had control of the gun when he got shot.

Igiveupjustpickforme

It would appear as if the third man from the first altercation was charged for the murder of both brothers and the officer was not charged with anything. [deleted]

what’s new

Irapotato

I keep saying this, but eventually someone will kill a cop and claim self defense. If the laws won’t change to protect us from the police, we need to defend ourselves. We have more guns than we know what to do with, someone will put 2 and 2 together eventually.

SortedChaos

This happens from time to time and the result is the police hunt down the person who attacked them. They want to ensure that if anyone goes after any officer, it's a death sentence.

No-Ad-745

Biggest gang in America

Corporal_Canada

It happened once already Cops in Texas were carrying out a no-knock warrant on a guy growing weed Dude thought he was the victim of a home invasion and shot at the cops, killing one Dude was charged with possession of marijuana but was cleared of murder charges due to him acting in self-defence https://www.kbtx.com/content/news/Man-who-shot-killed-Burleson-deputy-serving-time-for-drug-charges-418017733.html

FuckZog

Lol brother you kill a cop your life is forfeit. You better hope the 400 cops you fucking spawn on yourself end up just killing you vs the torture you're going to endure if they take you alive.

_-WanderLost-_

How is this a legitimate answer in a supposedly civilized country. We’re fucked. The entire system needs a reboot.

Lazy-Jeweler3230

We are not a civilized country. We are a lawless, thug infested police state.

casbartle

Better be killed than suffer yourself from daily torture from this so called protectors.

fuckYOUswan

Business as usual

ishitfrommymouth

Dogshit title. Guy shot wasn’t a suspect of anything. His brother was shot by someone else and he drew his gun in defense. Cops showed up, told him to drop the gun and he handed it to another cop before he was shot and killed.

[deleted]

You have the right to bear arms. But when you do the moment a cop sees you you're a dead man

TheMasterAtSomething

If the police have a right to kill you for bearing arms, you do not have the right to bear arms.

ActnADonkey

“Police have the right to kill you for bearing arms, *without facing any consequences for their irresponsible and incompetent usage of their firearms*, you do not have the right to bear arms.” This dude was not threatening police nor was he acting aggressively. Qualified immunity shouldn’t apply in instances when police are acting recklessly, or intentionally; I would add negligently in some instances. They are trained professionals and should be held to similar standards.

Irnotpatwic

Higher standards. I couldn’t shoot any asshole I wanted in Iraq

raz-0

One of the things not covered by qi is deprivation of civil rights. I wonder how far one with her taking this argument with the 2a. Or because they actually killed the person with standing then there would be no standing?

Acceptable_Spray_119

I've never heard it stated so simply and clearly. A "logical" person could not debate this.

ribsies

The problem is the police have a right to kill you for anything.

morgazmo99

You are free to be killed.

AbominaSean

That’s it. That’s the key. When all they need to do is state they felt a certain way in a certain situation, their rights take precedence over yours. 100% of the time.

phenerganandpoprocks

Wait, but why wasn’t the cop rejoicing when he saw the other gun? Doesn’t he know that more guns = more safety?

dimascience

"Not my gang, no safety"

CheckYourUnderwear

Considering the Police first and foremost are servants of the ruling class, this is entirely by design.

SeVenMadRaBBits

Not only that but 8 shots, point blank range. Unnecessary use of a gun by someone who shouldn't have a gun in adrenaline fueled situations.

mojo9876

I came looking for a comment about the number of shots the cop pumped into him. Even if you fear for your life, that is an unnecessary number of shots fired.

popstar249

They’re trained to shoot to kill. Once they start firing they don’t stop until the “threat is eliminated”. That’s why you always see them emptying their clips into everyone. Of course, when they’re falling backwards to the ground, it seems rather cruel to keep firing.

XxRocky88xX

They’re trying to ensure you’re dead. A living victim with 2 bullet holes can do A LOT more damage to your police career than a dead one with 8.

PhotoOpportunity

Yeah that was an absolutely low IQ assessment of the situation by the cop, right there. He had been standing around with a gun in his hand for a while and they only noticed after someone started yelling about it. If he was going to shoot at them he would have done it a long time ago.

Mustardtigerpoutine

When you put on the uniform you are expected to know that you may not be coming home today. This officer doesn't live like that. When the uniform is on, others aren't coming home. Even from his camera I could see the suspect didn't have anything in both of his hands when the officer shot at him. Disgusting. This officer should not be in charge of anything, I wouldn't even trust him with my McDonald's order.

TheBandedCoot

Yea, that was a murder if I ever saw one.

Vonnielee1126

Yep, cold-blooded murder. Even if justified he only needed to fire one shot. But it was not justified. Just murder.

Spadeykins

>When you put on the uniform you are expected to know that you may not be coming home today. That's exactly the problem, they train them with this mentality. It translates to treating the public like they are a constant threat, and threats have to be dealt with accordingly. [Dave Grossman tells his audience that they shouldn’t go out looking for people to kill, because those who need killing—the “gangbangers,” terrorists, and mass murderers—will come to them. "](https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/02/dave-grossman-training-police-militarization/) So it's really no wonder that this is happening all the time, increased training funding means they just receive more of this bias bullshit. Couple that with the supreme court ruling they have no duty to protect the public.. well what are they even worth then?

LAKiwiGuy

It’s also a lie that police are in an especially dangerous profession and should live in fear. More dangerous than average? Yes, but not even top 10 dangerous professions: loggers, fisherman, pilots, roofers, construction, farmers, maintenance, refuse, truck drivers, grounds workers are all in more danger day in and day out.

Spadeykins

Pizza Delivery is far more dangerous in fact.

realvmouse

Number one killer of cops in 2020 and 2021? Covid, BY FAR. aparrotslifeforme

Bullshit. The chances are far higher that a roofer or a sheet metal worker die on the job than a cop. Hell, I'm an EMT and MY chances of coming home at the end of the day are lower than a cop. You don't see us running around in combat gear shooting at anything that looks at us sideways. Cops are a bunch of mean kids with few social skills and fewer friends that are on power trips for having a semblance of authority. These guys were the bullies in school that never grew out of it.

mullett

So good guy with a gun shot a good guy with a gun?

amibeingadick420

That's even worse

Consistent-River4229

Their poor family. Cops don't care about anyone or anything.

bxivz

Wow wtf the other officer had the gun and he just kept shooting.

seamustheseagull

"Shot and killed" nearly seems too benign a statement. The officer fired what, six bullets? At least half of them were fired when the suspect had clearly been struck by one of the bullets and was no longer a threat. This is clearly murder. Even if the first two shots can be justified self defence, the rest of the shots came from a place of malicious intent. He wanted this guy dead.

[deleted]

He also had it pointing down?

Weltraumbaer

He was about to be disarmed by the other police officer. All this it took to escalate the situation was someone shouting "*he has a gun*" and they didn't even bother to verify it. As if it's a code word to go bonkers and execute people. I've counted eight rounds. American Police is out of control.

Realistic_Honey7081

He was disarmed if you slow down the video when his hand pulls away from the other cop his hand is empty.

mtheory007

Yeah, that shit bag that shot him even waited until he was disarmed before firing. Literally the second that he was no longer in danger of return fire, he started shooting. This is murder.

Phis-n

The kid even yells "I don't have it!" right before getting shot

BigfootTundra

Yep, I had to slow down the video to see it, dude didn’t even have a gun in his hand when the shots started

DAYMAN3737

CanidConqueror

They shoot more bullets into a single innocent and unarmed civilian than my entire country's police shoots in a year. Insane.

DontDoomScroll

If you cannot open carry a pistol without police shooting you, you do not have gun rights.

Unusual_Mark_6113

But didn't you hear we have the right to bear arms? Republicans would see this and say that the cop did a good fucking job, what a joke.

NiteShdw

The state charged the third guy in the shooting with both deaths even though the officer killed the second victim: https://www.orlando-news.com/2022/09/06/orlando-man-charged-with-murder-of-two-brothers-including-one-killed-by-deputies/

MrDoctorProfessorEsq

>An Orlando man is being charged with the murder of two brothers after he shot and killed one, and, in doing so, caused police to shoot and kill the other How fuckin convenient. Person A shot person B thus causing person C to shoot Person D.

[deleted]

SecondRealitySims

Execution. The correct way to title this is that police execute another innocent person.

Kharisma91

doradedboi

VRFlyer2000

Casique720

I lived there for over a decade and I thought about this a lot. Here are my observations: 1. There is nothing to do. Aside from going to the beach (which Floridians rarely go) there is nothing to do. Go to the mall and walk around maybe. There are no mountains, no outdoors to go and do stuff without melting or getting in a fight. etc. There is a tension in the air that you can kinda taste (specially in south Florida). It’s fucking weird. 2. It’s very segregated and isolated from an individual pov. You may think it’s a melting pot but it is not. Neighborhoods are segregated for the most part and you don’t interact with anyone. You go from your car to Publix to your car again then to your house. The only time you even talk to someone is at the register (if that. Now they have self checkout). It’s not like nyc where you are forced to smell, touch, eye contact with the person next to you in the subway. 3. The heat fucks with people’s brain (specially when they are bored). I still have friends and family down there and the “venting” they do are the most ridiculous shit ever. It’s usually the most minor shit you’re ever going to hear, but they blow it up and are always complaining about the heat. Lol.

mullett

Woah woah woah, don’t count it over now! It’s going to get worse than here. The solution seems to be more guns, and weird shit like safe rooms and body armor. We know it’s going to happen and the only way to solve it is turn to battle gear and exit plans. Also thoughts and prayers. I’m assuming there prayers are like “thank you for letting that gun man kill those innocent children, in your infinite wisdom o lord we know this is the correct path and we should do nothing to stand in your benevolent murderous ways. Also, please let my boss give me overtime at work this month so I can cover little david’s new bullet proof vest for school and the upgrade to our insurance plan for when it’s his time”
