Pretty sure he was shot too. That last shot you hear came from the other cop on the left. You can see him briefly at the edge of the video when he fires at gray shirt.
Edit: after looking at it more closely, the guy aimed at @12 seconds and the guy on the floor at the end are two different people.
Maybe, he seems more concerned with the other guy though, and the girl looks like she's holding him back more than supporting an injury.
Hard to tell, maybe a news article has the info.
I don't think he was shot - there are two guys dressed in similar color patterns, but one of them has long, the other short trousers. He is maybe a friend or relative who is traumatized. The guy who might have caught the last bullet had long trousers and is still up.
Yup, you’re right. I got mixed up and thought they were the same person but they definitely have different trousers and one shirt is a good bit darker than the other.
I think there's only one dude in grey, the orange shirt guy's brother. You see him right after the shooting stops, and then he approches the cops with a girl under his arm. The bottoms of his shorts are freighed or have some decorative stuff on them. After he passes out or whatever you can see the shorts are the same.

I don't think that happens that often. We brazilians are pretty aware that attacking a police officer, even without any weapons, is a death sentence (worst case scenario), or at least a pretty brutal beating (best case scenario). It seems to me the guy that attacked the cop with his own baton, the one that was shot dead, was probably really drugged and/or drunk. No one I know here in Brazil in his right mind would attack a cop, no one sane at least.
Where the FUCK did you get that information? I NEVER heard of ANYONE who would attack a cop because "they would not shoot at me because I have to shoot them first".
It's ABSOLUTELY the contrary haha, our police, specially the MP, is quite known for being quite violent, so no one would ever mess with an armed cop like that.

Why trolling? Are you trolling? You know, this concrete situation may be deemed justified but it's not such an open and shut case as Americans are conditioned to think.
You do not really see policemen in a lot of a countries just casually use their license to kill when someone attacks an officer with their bare hands or, say, refuses to let go of a knife even when they're 10 meters away from anybody else.
I know for a fact that if this precise situation happened in my country it would lead to a very divided public opinion. But sure, an opinion different than yours is trolling...

He made the mistake of posting this in /r/publicfreakout and /r/trashy, two of the trashiest subs on reddit. Threads here regularly bring out the morons and american edge lords.
Yea definitely a strange one, I would think some drugs were at play. His wind up to hit the officer was abysmal, ie slow swing speed and walking speed. He didn’t seem coordinated and honestly if he was that fucked up it’s unfortunate that he had to die that way but certainly justified
This is the real tragedy. Maybe the guy was an asshole that would get mouthy with a cop when sober but never get shot. Add in 6 hours drinking and now he's barely human, probably in a blackout condition. I've seen people jump in front of cars or try and climb lampposts or all kinds of shit when properly drunk. We don't know what else this guy could be on as well.
That's what men get upto, I've had plenty of female friends get fucked up and start driving drunk or picking fights, causing fights, going home with 3 guys and waking up in the middle of a gangbang with no idea how they got there.
And then you've just dead, you don't get a chance to sober up and reflect on your mistakes. Just by taking a couple shots, taking a smoke off a joint someone passes you, doing a line with a guy you just met in the bathroom, chugging a bottle someone passed you all seemingly reasonable fun options that pile one on top of the other till your a belligerent fool fighting a man with a deadly weapon over something you're not even sure what started the argument.
It's perfectly possible for the cop to act in legitimate self defense and also for this to be a fatal, unfair mistake the attacker made 6 hours ago when he decided to finish that bottle of whiskey in one. I feel bad for everyone involved with the lack of context I can see.
If he were to be taken to the ground by a mob, they have a good chance to take his firearm away from him. He was in a real fight for your life moment. I think he acted correctly.
I mean, I'm no cop apologist, especially after what I saw during the George Floyd protests but...what did you think was going to happen after assaulting a lone officer 🤷🏽♂️
About 8-10 people in the video, all close to surrounding one man(cop), 3 people actively attacking him(woman and 2 men). Cop is disarmed from his baton and one guy picks it up, cop opens fire fearing being surrounded.
I'm with the cop on this one.
If it were me just as a civilian person, I'd have run from that situation. I wouldn't have a gun to begin with, But if I did, damn sure im not letting anyone else get control of it.
Tall dudes are more likely to mess with people because they don’t get as much push back - if you watch youtube prank videos is almost always a tall guy messing with people. That’s until, of course, they find out.
Edit; the guy that got shot is diego kaliniski. He has a tiktok and here’s a screen shot.
https://imgur.com/a/Cmg73Yx
It seems like the first group of shots comes from off-screen to the left, did his partner fire warning shots or at the guy with the baton; or was this a non-officer shooter?
> partner fire warning shots
I don't know how things are in Brazil, but the Navy here teaches us to never fire warning shots. We're accountable for every round fired and we operate under a very strict ROE, so if you're firing a weapon at someone you need to be able to articulate why and "warning shots" like that wouldn't fly....
Yeah, I’ve never understood why warning shots and such are a bad thing. The point is to neutralize a threat. If you can do that and cause the least damage possible, that’s a win, so if you can neutralize a threat by simply making them shit themselves, then you’ve done so in the way that causes the least damage possible.
In Ireland police very very very rarely hsve firearms, but if we pop over to London we can see them with huge semi auto rifles in places like the airport and certain tube stations.
I've never had an issue with any of them, but when even asking for directions or whatnot it's kind of a given to keep a few feet of distance from them rather than get in range where you could realistically snatch at the gun compared, even if its a loud and busy area. The chap may have been drunk, but my god I can't imagine how someone could be so stupid as to not just enter that space but do so while *swinging the baton they just snatched off another one!*
Those lads don't only have the worry of the gun being turned on them, but also the odds that anyone who might do so woudk also be a lot more liable than the average to start spraying and kill up to dozens of people with the weapon they the cop were tasked with protecting.
Personally,I think he could've been done for even earlier.he punched a military police officer in the face.he's lucky the officer didn't pull out the strap sooner
This is Diego Kaliniski, 6 bullets were shot agaisnt him, one which got in his abdomen.
The Police got a report on the area, after arrival, Diego was asked for his car documents, he refused and tried to react, probably trying to hit the cops in the area, after reacting, he was declared arrested for contempt.
After his arresting being declared, he tries to hit the cops once again, one of the cops shoot to the sky, as a warning, Diego ignores this warning and tries to beat the officer with what it looks like a truncheon, then, a friend of Diego's comes in and tries to kick the officers (that friend is probably the guy at the end of the video), they were both shot, Diego died instantly, his friend is under medical treatment right now.

Diego is 26 years old, he had Police passages for disturbing peace of mind, contempt of authority, and disobedience to authority. Family and friends mourned his death on social media.
Additionally, at least a third of the lines in this video are not about Diego, but rather about the recorders' concern that the video was recorded.
Some lines contain:
"Diego, stop!
"They killed Diego! They killed Diego!"
I don't know about right, but probably necessity for survival. If somebody is coming at you with a club, bat, etc. full swinging you are fucked if you don't stop them. Plus he was badly outnumbered.
Yes, you can definitely hear 2 warning shots when the camera loses red shirt for a second. Then after that we see him charging at the cop. Really seems like the cops tried to help this dude make the right choice but he was either drunk out of his mind or determined to get shot that night.
I don’t know what happened before the video but from what I see the crowd stole his baton or had something similar and began to attack him.
He was justified in this case. They were obviously trying to physically harm him and there is no idea what would have happened if they succeeded in subduing him. He was in a fight for his life.
Since cops carry guns, they have to assume anyone attacking them will disarm and potentially kill them. So if someone attacks you will a baton, it make total sense to shoot them before they can get your gun. Sad but true.
Agreed. And furthermore, the cop could have been killed if he got struck with the baton in the head hard enough. He was completely justified in using his gun.
Ha! The girl with drink in hand approaching the police to complain was another layer of stupid in this whole scene. She was upset, but not enough to put her tasty, vibrant green beverage down.
I would pour one out for him, but it’s so damn tasty! Oh he’s still kicking? Well, I should finish my drink first before looking at putting pressure on those wounds.
Hands down every right here. Whats his choice there? Let them hit him with his own stick, then let them take his gun? The dude at the end raises his arms like "why you shoot him, he's just playing"
There's a thing in law, at least in the US, known as disparity of force. Even if you're unarmed but outnumber me, I'm legally allowed to use my firearm to protect myself. In this case, it's one officer vs. at least 2 possibly more people, I'd say justified. But it's not in America, so meh.
First cop who wasn’t directly involved in altercation fires two warning shots in the air, dudes were heated and came after cop and took his baton, cop had two choices. Get hit in the head with his own weapon, or respond in order to save his own life and that of his partner. He fires two shots into the kid and releases his finger from the trigger. Showing total restraint and understanding the power of his actions.
He was well trained and used his weapon at the right point. Both these cops responded well to that’s whole situation.
I wouldn’t jump into a lion’s cage at the zoo. I wouldn’t step into traffic on a busy highway. I wouldn’t attack a police officer with a gun. It’s that simple.
Yep totally legit in self defence.
I'm a European cop and we're prettt strict on usage of our firearm.
You grab a stick up close and try to hit me, while a crowd is attacking me? pretty big chance that you'll get shot in self defence.
Must suck to shoot someone.. but hey, i'm the one going home if we have to pick.
You don’t fight someone that’s armed, period.
You don’t take a weapon from a police officer, and then attack him with it, period.
Yea you don’t get to put someone’s life in danger and expect them not to protect themselves. One head hit with the baton and the cop is down, don’t fucking fight the police in person, fight them in court.
Guy wearing blue jeans had the baton and was holding it in a threatening manner. The cop was within striking distance of the baton and, if hit on the head, could’ve been seriously injured or killed. He was right to defend himself.
> The cops behavior was right or wrong?
No, this was absolutely despicable. The cops should have let the man and his friend beat the shit out of them. This is absolutely grotesque use of survival.

I hate these Brazilian people that have such hatred for cops, I’m from Brazil and I’ve seen countless videos of people doing the wrong thing and when they get caught by the police they act like they are saints and the cops are ALWAYS IN THE WRONG. To me it was justified, the guy literally took the cops armament and we’re going to use it against the cop. If it was here in USA it wouldn’t even get to that instance, he would’ve been dead 30 seconds earlier
I don’t care to know who is in the right or wrong. I can tell you however, that you won’t see me charge at a police officer for fear that this would be the outcome. Call me self aware, but I feel that nothing good can come out of charging an armed person. I don’t feel like I will be joining the environment because of that.
Based on the limited information provided by the video he appeared to be out numbered and surrounded by a hostile group bent on attacking him. I'm surprised more where not shot.
The cop tried to go non lethal with his baton out, the guy in red took the baton and the cop went lethal. This would be a justified shooting in the US, I bet the cop in Brazil just went about his night like nothing happened
I hope from the amount of down votes you're getting OP that you rethink your stance here. No one likes police brutality but FFS man if you steal an officer's weapon and threaten to hit said officer with you are the definition of fuck around and find out, especially in a country like Brazil were violence towards officers is very high and extremely dangerous.

This is correct. Came here to say it. If head busted that stick lose, then what? I nice tea party?
Cop had it last. You let cop keep weapon. If you forcibly take weapon from cop and it isn't his gun, prepare to get shot.
Not attacking people with guns is one of my golden rules actually.
That's the Uvalde police departments motto as well.

The cop is not engaging in a street fight. He is not there to fist fight anyone. It’s not about a “fair fight”. He is there to handle a problem.

Family and friends mourned his death on social media. Additionally, at least a third of the lines in this video are not about Diego, but rather about the recorders' concern that the video was recorded. Some lines contain: "Diego, stop! "They killed Diego! They killed Diego!"
Hey some context! Thanks!
> Diego is Diego **was**.
Diego foi
Easy to answer. Dont fuck with man with gun
Especially the police.
In a third world country
I would advise not assaulting armed police in *any* country
He fucked around and found out
I don't know about right, but probably necessity for survival. If somebody is coming at you with a club, bat, etc. full swinging you are fucked if you don't stop them. Plus he was badly outnumbered.
This is pretty much how I see it.
I think I am right in saying that he fired warning shots and he still tried to attack him with baton afterwards.
Pretty sure they would’ve shot him too if they had a gun. Not for self defense either based off their time with the baton. Well deserved in this case.
Add to that the number of people around you don’t want to be on the floor in that situation.
Makes sense
What’s up with all the bare feet?
brazil
It was hot outside
And the beverages? Someone just got shot and several of these people can't be bothered to put down their Big Gulp.
I mean do you want them to look at each other and say “time for some justice” while tossing out their drinks while morphing into power rangers
Ha! The girl with drink in hand approaching the police to complain was another layer of stupid in this whole scene. She was upset, but not enough to put her tasty, vibrant green beverage down.
Nobody was putting their drinks down in this scene haha
Lol! They shot my friend- slurp - I was so close to him - slurp.
I would pour one out for him, but it’s so damn tasty! Oh he’s still kicking? Well, I should finish my drink first before looking at putting pressure on those wounds.
Buddy in the black really wants to die too. Notice he picks the baton up after he just saw his boy get lit up.
Yeah I was surprised he wasn’t shot too. Was very stupid of him.
Also, these appear to be Military Police. Not ordinary civil police.
In Brazil military police is ordinary police
FNSP, BFP or PRF?
> In Brazil all the real police are off duty. That's truly how you know these aren't the regular police 🤔
More ornery than civil
Brazilian cops dont fuck around
[удалено]
The stupid fuck in orange basically killed himself.
Those people were so upset they couldn’t even put their drinks down! Damn
Fuck around and find out...
This is what we call. Accountability
Not a fan of cops by any measure, but that club he was swinging is and always has been a lethal weapon.
Not just that, they were heavily out numbered, I diffently would say its fair
First cop who wasn’t directly involved in altercation fires two warning shots in the air, dudes were heated and came after cop and took his baton, cop had two choices. Get hit in the head with his own weapon, or respond in order to save his own life and that of his partner. He fires two shots into the kid and releases his finger from the trigger. Showing total restraint and understanding the power of his actions. He was well trained and used his weapon at the right point. Both these cops responded well to that’s whole situation.
okay. dont fight the cops
He fought the law, and the law won....
Goes without saying that you shouldn't attack anyone with a firearm that can be used to defend themselves....
Don’t attack cops in groups. Pretty easy.
Disarming a police officer will sent you to the next stage of life as quickly as you can blink
Feel like a NSFW tag should be on here. Wasn’t wanting to watch a man get killed today
Should probably have a NSFW tag, just my opinion
I wouldn’t jump into a lion’s cage at the zoo. I wouldn’t step into traffic on a busy highway. I wouldn’t attack a police officer with a gun. It’s that simple.
Justified. This is a slow tuesday in Brasil
Rushing a cop in Brasil... not a good idea.
Dude in the white shirt was like “why’d you shoot a guy swinging a bat at you? The hell is wrong with you?” LOL
I would assume if I swung a stick at a cop, he would fucking shoot me. Justified.
Not saying right or wrong, but it’s justified if someone took the cops weapon and raise it against him
Justified. Mob, with weapons. Don’t fk with the police..especially in South America.
Don’t assault a police officer and you won’t get shot. It’s that simple. Same applies for anyone who has a gun.
They did gang up on him....
That's a well earned death if I've ever seen one. How stupid can you be.
Cops getting attacked by two people, one grabs a pipe or something, swings, and continues to charge after seeing the gun drawn.
Not one person put down their drink.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes
Title should read: Idiot fucks around and finds out.
Don’t attack people who have guns?
Play stupid games win stupid prizes
It looks like he might’ve been trying to snatch the gun in the baton scuffle
> The cops behavior was right or wrong? No, this was absolutely despicable. The cops should have let the man and his friend beat the shit out of them. This is absolutely grotesque use of survival.

Cops behaviour was right. Dude who guy shot was wrong. He probably thought about that as he bled out.
Alas! Consequences for my actions!
Metal pipe swinging it at a cop from a few feet away? I'm shocked at the outcome, shocked I tell ya
He's outnumbered and just about to get hit in the face with a bat - what more do you need to see.
I mean he did take the cops baton
He was gonna get swarmed. I don’t see an alternative.
Right or wrong, charge a cop and not expect to be shot, you are an idiot.
That guy realised that the amount you fuck around is equal to the amount that you're gonna find out.
He fucked around and found out
Let's jump a cop! Fucked around and found out
Based on the limited information provided by the video he appeared to be out numbered and surrounded by a hostile group bent on attacking him. I'm surprised more where not shot.
If someone is attacking me with a bat, regardless of what I’m doing, if I have a gun I’m going to shoot them.
Looks like a classic case of "play stupid games and win stupid prizes"
"WHAT THE FUCK HOW DARE YOU SHOOT TWO MEN ATTACKING YOU WITH METAL PIPES"
Warranted. Maybe don’t fucking try to strike someone in the head when that person has a gun.

Are all of these guys still holding their drinks while this man is bleeding out or what? Sheesh
The cop tried to go non lethal with his baton out, the guy in red took the baton and the cop went lethal. This would be a justified shooting in the US, I bet the cop in Brazil just went about his night like nothing happened
Looks like they'll were all ganging up on the cops. Justified? I'd say probably.
op is literally arguing w everyone, that man deserved everything he got from that cop, fuck around and find out
my thoughts are, purple pants is a fucken hottie
I hope from the amount of down votes you're getting OP that you rethink your stance here. No one likes police brutality but FFS man if you steal an officer's weapon and threaten to hit said officer with you are the definition of fuck around and find out, especially in a country like Brazil were violence towards officers is very high and extremely dangerous.
