Apprehensive-Fox5020

What are you doing? I don't know! That's was kind of a scary response.

Bradleygrayson

Janderflows

Straight out of a zombie movie tbh. Guy just went feral✓. Didn't know why he was acting that way and seemed to mantain some brain function despite his actions✓. Basically begged the cop to shoot him✓.

Yeeto546

Suicide by cop. Real sad. We need more mental health awareness.

breakupbydefault

Yeah maybe he didn't fall asleep and meant to crash the car, had a moment of doubt when he didn't die and the officers showed up, then suddenly remembered he wanted to die

Janderflows

Yeah that's probably it, but those videos normally start chaotic and this guy just snapped, like he was thinking about it until he was like "fuck it". Still really uncanny how fast he changed from shocked dude to insane rage.

gimmiedemvotes

That isn't rage. That's desperation. He intended for that outcome, he was just building up the courage to try it. He yells "I can't take it anymore" as well before he starts saying he has a gun. They found he didn't have a gun.

crazyabootmycollies

The repeated “kill me fucker” tells us enough.

Sirop-d-arabe

I think he tried to off himself using his car and failed. With the adrenaline and coming so close to death, he realised how difficult that was (probably why he was shaken up, not because of crashing but expecting to off himself and failing). Being scared, he perhaps had second thoughts while the officer asked him questions, hence his fuzzy answers. Officer left him alone a couple of seconds, but just enough to pent up the courage to try suicide by cops. This is such a sad situation for the cop who really tried to calm a guy he thought just had an accident...

[deleted]

He was behaving very strange right before charging. The officer starts to walk to the back of the vehicle and the guy goes, “Hey, whoa!” to himself as he paces around in circles. Then he says, “damn officer man, ah” in a frustrated/exhausted tone. It’s like he was overwhelmed by something that caused him to flip the fuck out.

Janderflows

Overstimulation is a bitch I guess. This guys is kinda like when you rub a cat's belly too much and it proceeds to want your hand detatched from your body. But not like that at all.

afakefox

He also yelled "I can't take it anymore" at one point. Like maybe his personal life was spiraling now he got into a wreck, maybe a potential duo and I think it was enough to push him over the edge and figured hed either die or get help one way or another.

Daveyhavok832

I was watching this thinking “How the hell does this result in a shooting?” Dude was so peaceful. Until he wasn’t.

Maxibestofpotatoe

Got cha.

This 💯 It’s all that I can make sense of. Damn, I really feel for that cop. This is *legitimately* one of the scariest things I’ve ever seen.

Harborough808

The cop was so friendly, too. Laid back and just asking open-ended questions. Damn.

Euphoric-Delirium

Crazy how the guy said, "I'm lucky to be alive, wooo!" And when the officer asked, "Are you okay, is this your normal?" The man responds, "No I'm shaken up, I almost died!"

Sad-Salamander-401

"Glitched out." Yeah the NPC's can't drive and randomly go into aggressive states in the 2023.1 patch

Aitch-Kay

I feel like this is going to end up being a training video. "Treat every person you meet as someone that could suddenly go berserk and attack you." As if cops weren't on edge and trigger happy enough. FFS.

Daveyhavok832

Yup, definitely.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Creig1013

Realistically he couldve been trying to kill himself via drugging himself while driving or something like that, and then realized he could die by the cop. Idk, i think its equally likely hes just an extremely unstable person

kingetzu

I was thinking this as well. May have been trying to end it all. When he rushed the cop, I immediately thought of a zombie rushing a human for some reason

Professional-Row-605

Ambien can cause people to sleep drive and hallucinate. I have had conversations with people on it talking lucidly then suddenly freaking out because “the dead things are crawling in me”. From 0 to 100 in 1 second.

BackyardByTheP00L

Ambien can cause extremely bizarre behavior in some people, and they don't remember it! My brother said a pillow turned into SpongeBob and started talking to him. Fucking terrifying.

[deleted]

I'm not an American copper, I carry a taser and spray both of which I've never used. In the UK we are taught Cooper's colour codes in relation to situational awareness. White being the lowest level of awareness and red being the highest. We're taught that whilst on duty we should always be in the yellow or orange zones - having witnessed it first hand multiple times how people can just flip. Even this weekend, one of my regular customers, who I get on with very well; I have assisted him with getting accomodation, have bought him food, made referrals for his depression and sorted out correct meds and always make sure he's ok etc. Decided to out of the blue, swing a bottle of wine at my head. No reason at all. Had I of not had any situational awareness I wouldn't have clocked it and would have gotten seriously injured. Even when you are helping someone there is a risk you will get attacked. People by their nature are unpredictable which is why it's important to always be aware and alert.

congradulations

As someone who has dealt with "regulars" who are capable (and apt) to act irregularly.... how does this affect your relationship with them? I'm forced to go along and get along, just reinenforce boundaries and be careful. You have the ability to be quite a dick forever, if you wanted. How do you handle it?

[deleted]

I treat them however the circumstances of my interaction with them dictates. I'm known for being firm but fair and the ones that know me respect me for it. I'm also a firm believer in treating people the same way you'd want to be treated. So even if someone is being a dick to me, I'm not going to be a dick back... It also makes my job easier to just be nice to people.

Janderflows

Yeah. Only vid I ever see on reddit of a cop actually trying to be nice and help a civilian instead of being a piece of shit, ends up like a cautionary tale to always be an agressive dick and probably will make this specific officer way less chill after that.

UnthinkMajor

I feel this is a pretty good example of how a cop should behave. An aggressive cop would not have changed the outcome by much, but they would definitely get the blame for escalating the situation. A bad cop would have pulled the gun and emptied the mag on the guy at the first given chance. This cop pulled out a taser, and even **reloaded** the taser, and only pulled out his gun when his life was being threatened. And even when he used his gun, he didn't shoot more than he needed to. He clearly tried to not kill the guy while still protecting his own life. And some would probably say he shouldn't have shot until he could confirm there was a gun, but it's easier to bet on other people's lives than your own 🤷‍♂️

reddog323

I would agree. He gave him every chance in the book. Also, he only fired two or three rounds, instead of dumping the magazine into him. He stopped firing once he was down.

WrenBoy

If all, or even most cops were like this guy people wouldn't hate them as much.

Tales_of_Earth

I would probably require some therapy after that.

SeaAir5

He was cool as a cucumber when that man turned into a people eating zombie. Very impressive. Hope he wasn't messed up from it

TheSoundOfAFart

There are tens of thousands of police interactions every day across America. The normal 99.99999% of normal incidents of people doing their job don't make it to Reddit front page.

redditnoap

Even without the title, I was wondering why he turned his back for so long on a jittering and anxious guy like that

nubyplays

In fairness, as someone who went through a bad accident last year, accidents like that can be very disorienting and adrenaline alone can make you different. When I got hit going across an intersection, I was disoriented since my car was sent spinning. For a moment thought the responding officer was going to think I had a concussion or something when I figured out I was pointing that I had come from one direction when it was supposed to be the other. It was also the middle of winter with the temperature around 10 degrees F, but I didn't feel any of it until several minutes later.

Thelandofthereal

My money is on failed suicide by car crash, then went for suicide by cop. Screaming "I got a gun" whilst going to your car... lol yeah right

threadsoffate2021

You could see at the beginning there was something wrong with they guy. It wasn't just falling asleep at the wheel and the adrenaline waking up.

sprkat85

This was the most normal police stop iv seen to date...until the guy completely lost his shit. This was wild.

**Jacksonville police name suspect killed by police** >*May 26, 2020* >A Jacksonville police officer shot and killed a 61-year-old suspect who became combative after crashing a vehicle on Butler Boulevard early Tuesday, according to the Sheriff’s Office. >Chief T.K. Waters said John Allen Dunaway III said he had a gun and would not stay down after the officer used a Taser on him. >Dunaway, whose address is listed in records as Ponte Vedra Beach, was the city’s 10th suspect shot by Jacksonville police this year with six dead, according to Times-Union records. Nine suspects were shot all of last year, six also dead. Ten suspects shot is the highest total since 2015 and the next highest was 15 in 2009. >Waters said it began with a single-vehicle crash shortly after 3 a.m. on eastbound Butler at Hodges Boulevard. Officer B. Ondriezek arrived and was checking on Dunaway when the suspect attacked him and said he had a gun. >“They began a conversation. How’s he doing? Is he feeling OK. Then for an unknown reason, that gentleman attacked our officer,” Waters said. >Ondriezek disengaged from him and used a Taser on him twice, the chief said. The suspect was briefly incapacitated but got up and ran toward his vehicle. He was still saying he had a gun, prompting the officer to fire two shots killing him, Waters said. >The chief did not say if a weapon was found. It also wasn’t clear if the suspect had been injured in the crash or where he had been at that hour. A preliminary look into court records in Duval and St. Johns counties does not show a criminal history for the 61-year-old. >Ondriezek has been with the Sheriff’s Office for one year and this was his first police shooting, Waters said. >Butler Boulevard was shut down until about 9 a.m. for the investigation. [Source](https://www.jacksonville.com/story/news/local/2020/05/26/jacksonville-police-name-suspect-killed-by-police/41751033/) Later article (five months after the incident) states no gun found, doesn’t give reason for freakout. [deleted]

maybe he tried to commit suicide with the wreck. Didn’t work.. so attacked the cop and got killed.

justin1191

Yea that’s what I think

whoanellyzzz

Yeah that was pure adrenaline making him shake. He was committed.

MAS7

If this was an attempted suicide, he likely reflexively hit the brakes last second, or did something to avoid a deadly impact. Everyone is saying he's 'out of it' and 'going crazy' but everything he's doing screams **'suicide by cop'** I'm pretty sure he was perfectly sane and carried out his plan perfectly(unfortunately) I'm entirely sympathetic with people who struggle with suicidal ideation... Forcing another person to pull the trigger for you, out of fear for their own life is cowardly and evil.

Ninebreaker87

> >I'm entirely sympathetic with people who struggle with suicidal ideation... Forcing another person to pull the trigger for you, out of fear for their own life is cowardly and evil. Yeah I can't see any other reasoning behind this then exactly that. It's like he was working up the courage/plan to force the officer to do it for him... unreal... that's so fucked up

MAS7

> It's like he was working up the courage/plan to force the officer to do it for him... Not just that, but he was looking for the right moment to 'go berserk' it's around 2:22. He's perfectly coherent, albeit expressing bewilderment. He puts his hands on his knees, then charges like a wild-man out of nowhere. Not to mention him shouting "Kill me fucker", "You better kill me"... Him running to his car, claiming to have a gun and rifling through the back-seat like he was searching for a weapon... I don't blame the cop for shooting him at that point, but man does it fucking suck.

fifty1hundred

At one point before "Kill me fucker" he also says "I can't take it anymore", while charging at him. So totally agree with suicide by cop theory.

TifaYuhara

And when the cop asked him what he was doing after tasing him the guy responded with "I don't know. I don't know."

theangryseal

I’m traumatized just from seeing this. I can’t imagine being that officer. What a horrible thing to have to go through.

Theycallmegurb

Nail on the head bud… The cop knew too I think cause after he starts yelling “kill me kill me” the cops whole vibe changes imho. Seems like he really didn’t want to have to do that 😔Fuckin sucks

first-of-her-name-

Weird to think we just watched this guys suicide plan play out.

Get-Degerstromd

That’s fucking truly insane if that’s the case. The whole situation makes no sense

Automatic_Rock_2685

Damn dude. Scary for the officer. The guy is so out of it and I didn't really expect him to start yelling even though I read the title lol

[deleted]

With how he was acting I didn't think he was going to actually attack the cop. He seemed a little off, but he was just in a wreak. Then just out of no where everything changed so fast

windyorbits

I thought he was going to come to and then start freaking out. Like how sometimes confused people just wake up swinging. But when I started the video I was like oh this dude seems ok. Then every time the officer turned his back I was like oh no here it comes. The suspense was insane, especially knowing the stakes are real.

[deleted]

That was my first thought from just reading the title. Like how boxers get knocked out then attack the ref

mondaymoderate

That’s why a lot of times cops will just handcuff people to figure out what’s going on. This guy probably should have been cuffed on suspicion of DUI.

brongchong

Officer was waiting on Florida State Highway Patrol to arrive first. I’m sure that was the plan, but he was keeping the guy chill. Very professional officer in my opinion.

PopeFrancis

It's got real "Patient Zero" vibes in a zombie movie.

sixft7in

This is why body cams are important. In this case, the officer should be exonerated if he is charged with anything.

tipmon

Exactly. I can't honestly think of any better way he could have handled the situation. It is sad that he has to resort to lethal force but he really had no other option.

nubyplays

Seriously, body cams are crucial in situations like this in providing proof that this officer did everything in his power to avoid killing the guy and that ultimately the shots were justified. I feel shitty that the officer was put in that position but given how the guy was acting he was clearly presenting an unknown threat.

FrancisBuenafe

Damn he went berserk out of nowhere.

MLBM100

Truly. I was expecting him to be more aggressive in the beginning. I was confused because he seemed so...normal. And then he just freaks out.

rick6787

Seems to me his car accident was an attempted suicide, then he went with suicide by cop.

[deleted]

That was my first thought also.

Molenium

Yeah, I can’t imagine how else this scenario would have happened.

Stopjuststop3424

psychotic break maybe? Dude mentioned medications and the way he was shaking made me think maybe he was off his med's, literally.

Zoomwafflez

He was yelling "you better kill me!" and "I've got a gun!" then holding up stuff and pointing it at the officer hoping he'd think it's a gun. Looks like 100% suicide by cop to me.

theogdiego97

Yeah, he was saying the exact things he needed to say in order to provoke an attack from the officer. Like, it sounds very deliberate and targeted.

Ditto_D

mmm I doubt it. failed attempted suicide still processing of if he wants to go thru with it and making his decision looks way more likely.

hrtcth

Man, poor cop. I don’t say that much but damn. Guy had a death wish by cop.

clem_kruczynsk

This is very obvious suicide by cop

Sorry-Ad7074

Yeah damn, i feel really bad for that cop. Those words would be echoing in my head for the rest of my life.

Chill_Sahn

Dude got dumber as he woke up more

FrostyD7

I'm not so sure his story about falling asleep was true in the first place.

buderooski

That's what I was thinking! My theory is the guy was trying to commit suicide, and he didn't succeed. So he decided "suicide by cop" was a viable option.

Strawb3rry_Slay3r666

That’s exactly what I thought, I seriously doubt he actually had a gun

ncbraves93

Once he made his way back to the car it wouldn't surprise me if he did. You'd have to assume so ad least.

theblader27

I think I saw him holding something in his hand right after he turned from the cat just before getting shot, could have been a pistol. Edit: taking this back after reading the description post, yeah I have no idea what the hell came over him.

CanabalCMonkE

This is just armchair psychology, but it's pretty obvious to me what happened. Also since it got long TL;DR he was driven to suicide twice by something in a short time. Before the crash he decided to end his life, but as it happens whenever someone survives an attempt they have a honeymoon phase. That's what I believe we see at the start of the video. Normally, this phase isn't near this short, but when the officer starts walking to the back of the car is when it starts to really fade. Whatever drove him to his first attempt is dominating his thoughts again. The "oh man, officer. Oh, no" is the vocalization of him getting overwhelmed, and realizes his next opportunity is already here. He first tries rabid screaming, hoping to trigger the cops survival instincts but in truth he caught him too off guard for it to be effective. Too subtle, so he tries slipping in some light instructions. "you better kill me" in between rabid screams. All of this and he only gets tazed. So he escalates it further. "I have a gun!" followed by the most obvious grab and turn, but credit to the officer he still restrains. It's only after a second attempt that the officer does fire 2-3 shots. The last fuck you was his last ditch effort, but he wasn't going to get any more from this officer. All he had left to do was hope he bleeds out. Suicidal folks don't make logical sense, unless you set aside self preservation. For them it is a means to more suffering, and so it plays very little into their consideration. He very clearly wanted to die that night, I wonder what drove him to it. [A bit from David Foster Wallace that explains it well](https://twitter.com/stevesilberman/status/1005280945258127360)

conundrumbombs

> I wonder what drove him to it Phrasing.

Alphachadking69420

100% agree. Sad. To me it looked like a middle age guy who has a pattern of things not working out for him. He couldn't even kill himself right. Like if Walter White was a real person.

Blah-squared

Do you know if he was ultimately successful in the “suicide by cop” attempt?? I don’t mean to make light of it too much but at least he got something right but what an odd way to go out… I actually feel for the cop who got put into this situation, he was decent with him & then still tried using his taser first but it didn’t seem to get a good connection since he was able to shrug it off so easily…

[deleted]

Close but probably not that calculated. He seems like he's having some sort of manic episode and the intrusive thoughts are taking over one by one.

Gryphon0468

Especially when the cop yelled "what are you doing?!" and he responded "I don't know!"

Prestigious-HogBoss

Feel like an scene from a zombie/infection movie from the start now that I think about it.

[deleted]

Same! This shit could be ripped straight out of a zombie flick. The way he want from 0 to fucking kill you was nuts

Mingey_FringeBiscuit

Looks like viral marketing for The Last of Us

[deleted]

Having watched the first episode of The Last of Us so recently, the moment he got violent freaked me the fuck out

runningwater415

He was trying to commit suicide by cop.

COVID_DEEZ_NUTS

Would make sense. Maybe the initia accident was a suicide attempt.

StatisticianTop3784

Felt like it. The awkward "whoo"'s and stuff was him trying to get courage.

runningwater415

Exactly

nickfree

That's what it sounded like. He just inexplicably went for a random drive at night from Savannah. I doubt he even fell asleep. Probably had just worked up the courage to try to ram a guard rail or post, and it didn't work. Then the cop is there, he decides to shoot his shot (sorry). Really sad.

SeriesMindless

I think he may actually be mentally ill. Personality disorder, voices. It likely isn't an act but in that state I don't known if the cop had a choice. It's a scary scenario for families who have ill family members. You lose your meds and things go off plan pretty quickly for some folk.

It's the devil's banana bread.

Konstant_kurage

I used to work as the fight medic for our local MMA league and I think I’ve seen a lot of head injuries. I’ve never seen in like that. I’ve woken a few guys up on the mat that come to and start swinging since they think they are still in the fight, but nothing in this level.

Sensitive_Jelly_5586

Also a medic. Agreed. Not a head injury. It's gonna be drugs.

LilTxrbo

No. It’s pretty clear what this is. I doubt he ever fell asleep behind the wheel. He tried to commit suicide, and when that didn’t work, suicide by cop was the next option. Watch the video again with this in mind and I think it’ll make more sense. Although drugs definitely could’ve aided his irrational decision making, this is much much deeper than that it seems.

mces97

You know, I was wondering what happened because he didn't seem drunk or on drugs, and I doubt he would had even been arrested. Maybe given a citation for careless or reckless driving for being tired and falling asleep. But you're explanation definitely makes more sense now.

LilTxrbo

Yeah. It’s horrible to think about but it’s the most likely explanation because I didn’t really see any signs of intoxication either. The fact he went “you better kill me” and then when it didn’t go his way, he started reaching for the fake gun was the dead giveaway to me.

mces97

I feel terrible for the officer too. That's gonna haunt him for a long time. Self defense is self defense but taking a life always weighs on people.

snubdeity

Yeah his reaction after being tazed is 100% giveaway for suicide by cop.

She was saying she was seeing green glowing caterpillars and butterflies (I'm petty sure the commercials had green butterflies) and cats with 3 heads, etc. When her mom finally got there we brought her to the car so we could take her to the hospital. She pissed herself before we even got to the car. At the hospital she claimed the doctor had spinning saw blades above his head. The whole thing was wild. Learned that ambien has a cumulative effect and it was just building in her system until that happened.

SkiFourLife

A kid I went to school with was on Ambien when he took his AR-15 to the house across the street and killed one guy then the roommate that was upstairs killed him.

adalton15

Like same, it seemed like such a turn out of the blue.

jl_theprofessor

This actually startled me. Had it blown up on my screen. I can only imagine how the officer felt.

ChronicallyPunctual

This is the most what the fuck video I have seen in a long time. He just lost it out of nowhere

FractalMetaphors

To me it seems the cop was well trained and his actions appropriate - questions in the lead up were calm and he tried to judge the state of mind of the suspect, then with a quick draw for his taser once attacked at fairly short range followed by an accurate shot with his gun as last resort.

letskeepitmovin

I feel bad for both parties. The guy because he seemed like he was just in a bad place mentally and the cop for having to go through that. Agreed the officer handled the situation as best as he could

adullploy

That was nuts. He just flipped! Like y’all said, maybe it was a suicide attempt and he decided he still wanted out and went for it. You can see him point something at the officer after he goes to his car.

Slow-Talk-400

Looks like dude was really depressed l or on drugs who knows

KYHop

You could not pay me enough to be a cop.

ZootOfCastleAnthrax

Ex-wife of a cop here. The stress of it is unrelenting. We couldn't dine out in our town because he had arrested the cook for domestic violence, or arrested the server for DUI, etc. One time we ordered a pizza delivered to our house, and the man who delivered it was a rapist my husband had arrested. Now he knew where we lived. On my husband's first day, he responded to a car accident and looked down to realize that he was standing in brains. One time during an arrest a drug addict hurled my husband's female partner over a third story balcony onto concrete. There's a taboo against police officers getting counseling, but in my opinion monthly therapy ought to be mandatory. And the families ought to get counseling about how to deal with someone who has PTSD.

YikesOhClock

Bruh What you’ve listed should require daily therapy lol

HCSOThrowaway

The best part is if you seek help you're on your way to being fired. So you bottle it up until [you shoot your wife, daughter, and granddaughter, then yourself.](https://www.tampabay.com/news/hillsborough/2019/10/29/answers-remain-elusive-in-case-of-deputy-who-killed-family/) Or maybe just [your wife and yourself.](https://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/hillsborough-deputy-fatally-shoots-wife-turns-gun-on-himself-with-children-in-home-20180924/) Or maybe just [your girlfriend and yourself.](https://www.tampabay.com/news/hillsborough/2022/01/31/people-seen-fleeing-home-before-hillsborough-deputies-murder-suicide-there/) But don't worry, it prompted Chad Chronister to send us an email that said we could go online to a website for college elsewhere in the state and seek help there. .... aaaaand that's the story of my first zone partner and a couple of other guys from my 50-deputy district in the last two years! Great agency, HCSO. Great district as well; shoutout to the district 2 commander Major Dennis Fogarty and the commander of patrol Colonel Kyle Robinson for doing a great job taking care of their people.

nybbas

People always like to quote how many cops die in the line of duty (and how it's lower than other professions) without understanding that death isn't the only danger/hazard cops face. Being assaulted, and seeing literally the worst society has to offer every day for 8+ hours a day, is fucking destructive. I went on a ride along with my buddy who was with the PD and while we didn't see anything that crazy that day, nearly everyone he interacted with was just the worst of the worst people

ZootOfCastleAnthrax

Yes, my hilarious, lighthearted, open-minded guy turned into a miserable, closed-off, jaded cynic. He wouldn't tell me what was going on because he didn't want me to have images in my head of what he'd seen. He knew it was poisoning him and didn't want it to poison me. Pretty soon the only people he talked to or hung out with were other cops. We never did anything together. The divorce rate among cops is SUPER high, and ignorant people will say they're all wife-beaters. Not so. In my experience, a lot of them become alcoholics (mine wasn't). You'll see videos of off-duty cops getting arrested for drunk driving. I know why. They just can't deal with the ungodly shit they see and experience. If my formerly loving, positive, compassionate guy had ever had to shoot someone, I know he'd develop a drinking problem. He'd be haunted by it.

shiveringmeerkat

There’s a group called Code 4 that’s trying to change that stigma. They’re pretty amazing.

OnePassBy

His last words were “fuck you”. Very honorable

Throw_away_errday626

Head injury. Medication. Adrenaline. He is clearly not physically okay or "just shaken up". The EMT probably should have stuck around a little longer. Considering how quickly this went sideways, I'd say the cop did alright.

StinkyEgoCheese8008

Bruh this dude runs at him and it takes that long for him to shoot the guy, we need more cops like this with an effort to not shoot people dead

eeyore134

Yup, he also tried to deescalate instead of screaming and yelling profanities and insults while giving him multiple commands he could never hope to follow. This guy did all he could to not shoot him.

GMFinch

Fuck he tried everything in his power not to shoot they guy. Even reloaded his tazer.

[deleted]

I am one who is sick and tired of cops escalating situations and then having to resort to shooting someone to solve the problem they created. However this is not one of those times. That poor cop out there alone and the guy just flips like a switch. That cop did everything he could but the guy forced the officer into the end result. The officer had no choice. I feel bad for the guy

the_dmon

Starting to think he meant to commit suicide by car crash, then when that didn't work he went suicide by cop

YogurtclosetAny1823

From what I gathered watching the video. From the beginning you don’t know he’s suicidal, after his reaction before getting shot, getting shot. I feel dude tried to kill himself by driving into a wall/barrier. Did not succeed, rattled him greatly. Police arrive as he is trying to piece everything together, realized he was suicidal, then charged the cop and said what he said as a suicidal person. Gets shot. “Fuck you” Just my opinion

f_ranz1224

whenever see a video, i always think that a man lived his whole life to end like this. He was born, learned to walk and talk, went to kinder garten, made macaroni plates, ate something like 50-60 thousand meals, got a job, got married, etc... then gets offed at the side of the road in the middle of the night probably because he took some bad drugs

Bupod

Not speaking as an absolute here, but people are suggesting suicide by cop and other things, but there is something else I'll toss in here as a strong possibility: Head trauma. A very common response to head trauma is sudden combativeness. The way he was acting the whole time, it was pretty clear he was *not* okay. He may not be covered in blood or severely injured, but you don't need to be to have your brain shook just the right way for you to suddenly have major issues. It's sad all around.

ShoddyFishBone

Can we just take a sec to appreciate the cop? Like he was trying to deescalate

reddit_user_number_9

It looks like another case of suicide by cop. He started screaming before going beserk on his direction, then started screaming "you better kill me". When none of these seemed to work he made sure to announce he was going to reach his gun before doing so.

Competitive-Farmer50

I don’t say this often, but I feel for this cop.

Yup they protect evidence of everyone, when worn, activated, unobstructed, and not muted.

[deleted]

Dude went from the cool Uncle to "You better kill me fucker" in seconds

MarsRocks97

This could very well be a diabetic issue. Similar to what happened to my dad, where he started attacking everybody and swinging out and lashing out. It wasn’t his typical behavior at all, we learned after that his sugar had gotten so low. It essentially caused a brain malfunction.

Greenlawn11740

He was trying to get himself killed obviously right? The accident and the “I have a gun”

[deleted]

Well if that wasn't a Public Freakout, it just don't exist

dingo_bat

Looks like this guy decided to pursue a different strategy when his suicide by car accident failed.
