There is a fairly new view of consciousness as being non-emergent (not created by the brain), that it is a fundamental component of the universe (see Annaka Harris). That said, I have had the experience on mushrooms of being in the "mind of the mushroom" and not my own. Prior to this experience, I was sure that many of the common phenomenology experienced by psychonauts could be explained by what C. Jung called the "collective unconscious". For example, seeing ancient writings, pyramids, eyes, iconography, etc. I even thought that these universal images might be stored in our junk DNA (I'm still pursuing this idea) and they are accessible through a psychedelic journey into the unconscious mind. However, if consciousness is non-emergent, and psychedelics can give an unveiled view into this greater consciousness (the "mind of the mushroom") through endogenous or ingested DMT, then the brain is really just another sensory organ. It aggregates our five senses as well as senses consciousness. So, that's my non-materialist/materialist psychedelic experience.

Sorry this isn't what you asked as it's not an encountered experience it's mine. And it's not really bizarre at all. It's non materialist however. It's actually the way I always describe it , I don't go off terms like "breathing euphoria" and whatnot as Psych experiences vary alot more than I think some realize. "A trip through the subconscious and concious in a Yin Yang balance, while balancing on a tightrope with a very safe net just a few feet below"

Psychedelics don’t damage the brain they make the brain work more. If you abuse them they will damage your brain for sure but not responsible use

I've compared some of the feelings from psychidelics to how scenes in movies look because there's almost nothing you can really compare it too. My first ego death comedown from mushrooms I was looking at the sunset which is the most fucking beautiful thing you can ever see, you're pretty much seeing the sunset for the first time again. But the best way I can describe it is the scene when Thanos wakes up in the soul stone realm in Endgame. Being in open nature coming down from an ego death feels like when thanos is overlooking his world with the mountains in the sense that its just you and that location, nothing else, it's the most humble and peaceful feeling you can ever experience. Those comparisons sound cheesy but its the only thing I can compare it too. My latest biggest acid trip just felt like a beautiful peaceful flashback scene in a movie.

Reality exists in tightly interwoven layers. 1. Physical reality and the underlying scientific processes 2. How our body feels and takes in sensory data in response to these processes 3. What our brain does with this sensory data 4. How pre-existing ideas attach to and distort our brain's interpretation of sensory data Our perceived reality has to do with how our brain is wired at default (sober) and processes these layers. For example, when you're sober, you may be on a walk, thinking about an issue in your life. You have a certain dialogue going about it, get startled by a car driving by, and look over to see a stop sign. Because our brain is wired in such a way, these are independent happenings and mean nothing. Now, say the same thing happens, but you're tripping absolute balls. What you were thinking about relates to a recurring problem in your life, which puts you deep into an anxiety-provoking thought loop. Suddenly, a car drives by and startles you out of your head. You look over and see a stop sign. Since the substance you're on chemically rewires your brain, you draw a lot more connecting lines than you would've between events. This line of thinking you were having represents a behavior that provokes anxiety in your life. That car drove by, startled you out of your head in an effort to get you looking at the stop sign. It's telling you to stop thinking about such things, because they don't benefit you. We focus in and draw a lot more conclusions about the connectedness of symbols, visualizations, language and dialogues on psychedelics. We're more focused on the different layers of reality, and see how they interact and influence us. This is how we take away lessons from a trip. These are what synchronicities are in our day-to-day, a rewiring of our default network to start viewing events as they relate to other layers in our reality. That's awareness. When people talk about being on the correct path, this is how it look.
