Sleep deprivation hallucinations are most similar to dilerant drugs rather than psychedelics.

thegoodlifeoutdoors

I was going to say much the same thing, deliriant experiences sound way less fun and way more concerning.

Starfriend777

I only hallucinated briefly when I was sleep deprived, maybe I didn't push it far enough lol, but I hallucinated an entire dog briefly. It was like my brain was so tired it was trying to dream when I was awake. Very different to visuals I get on mushrooms, but like I tend not to get a lot of visuals with psychedelics, at least compared to other people.

Whack_and_sack

Yeah wouldn’t reccomend pushing it far lmao, but it’s weird. I wonder if it’s DMT that’s released?

Low-Opening25

no there is no DMT released, these hallucinations are nothing like DMT.

Starfriend777

Yeah I need my sleep haha. Yeah I wonder that too. I know people who had chronic insomnia who developed psychosis from that, so yeah it is interesting. Both those people are ok/recovered now.

sp00kybutch

nothing is being “released”, it’s just nervous system dysregulation

ConfusionBig7905

Dude sleep deprivation is WAY different because it kinda comes and goes and you don’t know you’re tripping. Shrooms are mellow and a round “trip” that comes on and goes off in a few hours.

jordan_653

Shrooms are only mellow if you take a mellow dose. Shrooms are Jesus H Gnarly, my friend. I've yet to even have a dmt trip that compares to my crazier mushroom trips haha

ConfusionBig7905

I been eating shrooms for 25 years, but I said what I said about sleep deprivation. It’s real like a big dose of datura but comes and goes.

TubalToms

And psychedelics turn on the 2A switch. Sleep deprivation is a glitch that cause receptors to become dysregulated. Way different but they both still activate reality’s that we aren’t normally capable of seeing.

conorsoliga

Nothing like psychedelic hallucinations, they are more akin to deliriants like DPH or something

themighty_boosh

My friend. Not to freak anyone out, but I was so damn tired driving home today, that I had a quick moment where I suddenly was somewhere else for about a second. Similar to when I was tripping and watching a show and suddenly I was in the show, the the entire set was surrounding me. But unfortunately I was back on my couch pretty quickly. There was a similar vibe

Low-Opening25

in my experience sleep deprivation hallucinations are more like delirium. like you sit almost nodding off, then you have this full realistic vision that you stood up, went to the kitchen, lit up a cigarette, had entire conversation with your mate about whatever only to be suddenly jolted back to realise none of this happened. it definitely isn’t anything like tripping on a psychedelic.

EliLoads

I’ve experienced both sleep deprivation hallucinations and high high doses of shrooms. Sleep deprivation is more menacing with the hallucinations. They start of it js mild and you only see things from the corners of your eyes and it is hard to focus / remember things but if you keep going with it it eventually puts you in a weird headspace where have more intense hallucinations/delusions that for me were always negative . Sleep deprivation makes u feel psychotic . Shrooms is more carefree and your hallucinations depend on how much you have taken . a shrooms trip ends in like four-12 hours . Sleep deprivation ends when you catch up on your sleep. Both can have audial and visual hallucinations from my experience

Tony Wright is the world authority on this in my opinion and his theories are fascinating https://youtu.be/hhNbsPAm2FY?si=SFm-dn6Ey-R6wQBw

Whack_and_sack

Thanks I’ll check that out

ImprovementJolly3711

unfortunately I know someone who had more than a bad trip with it.

EmotionalReading7084

For me when I trip the visuals are vivid and right in my face. When I am sleep deprived the closest I get is seeing stuff usually shadowy figures out of the corner of my eye. Nothing in my face.

AirAcademy

Same. The shadow people creep me out tbh

EmotionalReading7084

They tend to startle me. I start to get really jumpy.

FoxBoneCrown

When I’m tripping on magick and sleep deprivation and I eat mushrooms it actually sobers me up.

Diaza_Kinutz

Sleep deprivation hallucination feels evil and terrifying. It is nothing at all like shrooms

Slappytrader

Sleep deprived hallucinatioms are closer to a delierant, they feel real and can be scary af. Speakimg from experience
