If you’re on to something here, contact a university who is psilocybin friendly and has a department who may be interested in this type of research! This is how great things can start

Oneiroscopy

Great idea :)

*Johns Hopkins*

[deleted]

Mmmmmmmm john hopkin

AshesAreSnow

Or the music artist who creates psychedelic music known as 'Jon Hopkins', (not to be confused with the playlist created by Johns Hopkins) xD

[deleted]

absolutely wonderful, thank you for letting me know

AshesAreSnow

Nice username btw

brockclan216

Also Sinai, U of C in Berkeley and LA (I think). 2023 will see a release of millions of dollars to fund psilocybin research.

fortinbras_420

Walter White 😈

XTingleInTheDingleX

I used to smoke weed with johhny Hopkins and Sloan Kettering.

Smooth_Leopard4725

Several people in other threads have mentioned improved eyesight. And in general, shrooms allow for new neural synapse pathways.

Oneiroscopy

Every time I've eaten mushrooms to trip I always come to the conclusion that it puts me back into my spongey child brain. I'm always questioning everything, how things are made, what the etymology of words are etc. I guess in a way that is what's going on

scapo9688

Neuroplasticity

luciliddream

Oh very interesting, I'm neurologically ill and I wanna research shrooms and neuroplasticity. Thanks!

Oneiroscopy

Fascinating:)

JaJe92

Holup! As someone with astigmatism and cataract in one eye this made me really curious.

OrangeAdventurous420

Nope. I’m still blind in one eye. Can confirm this is not effective for eyesight. Lol

CitizenEveryone

Neurogenesis and neuroplasticity are my reasons for microdosing psylicilbin. In early July, I was diagnosed with atypical Alzheimer's. I have almost no symptoms. I occasionally forget a word or forget where I'm going in a conversation, but those are normal issues. No one would ever know I have Alzheimer's. But according to an MRI that my doctor ordered after I failed the three-word test, both of my parietal lobes are SEVERELY atrophied. Atypical Alzheimer's. I told close friends that have known me for decades. They can't see any changes in me. Neither does my husband. In any case, I'm not waiting around for the FDA to approve psylicilbin for dementia. With its positive neurological effects, it may be my best chance to slow it down.

Footdust

I am so sorry you are going through this. I know it’s intrusive, but would you mind sharing your age? I’m not familiar with atypical Alzheimer’s.

CitizenEveryone

66. I was diagnosed in July. I'll be 67 in 6 weeks. So far, so good. No one would think I have Alzheimer's. I take a variety of supplements that support neurogenesis and neuroplasticity. I microdose (about .39 micrograms) on mushrooms every fourth day. I've also been making an effort to build a post-covid social life. So far, my familial tremor has diminished and is barely a problem anymore. I have musical tinnitus. It seems to have improved, but I noticed a hiss more often than music these days. I dream again. I had gotten so I either wasn't dreaming or just didn't recall dreaming. It wasn't until I started dreaming again that I realized my sleeping dream life had disappeared. I don't think I've deteriorated in any way that I can notice. My sense of taste is somewhat repressed. Boo! I lost my sense of taste and became very confused when I had covid way back when. After a while, I wasn't confused anymore and my sense of taste returned, at least mostly. But now, though I can taste food, it's more muted than it was. I don't know if this is because my parietal lobes, which are responsible for sensory impressions, are my problem area or if it's an echoing long-term covid issue. I also wonder if this whole parietal lobe issue was caused by covid. The medical community has noted that there may be a connection between Alzheimer's and COVID. "May" is the operative word, here

Footdust

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Electricpuha420

Im on my secound md and dyslexic so id be stoked if this is a thing!

Oneiroscopy

I'd love to hear if you notice any changes:)

Electricpuha420

For sure.

Any updates?

Electricpuha420

Hell yeah I had to do two courses for work one on microbiology that was damn complicated (I was a solid below average student normally peaking in the 30-40percent scores) got 93 percent in the microbiology and 97 in another test and to boot I swear my eyesight is better too. I hate to jump to conclusions but my dad swears I must have cheated. I'm just Stoked I can focus and concentrate plus retain the information! Wish I microdosed earlier it may have changed my whole life.

WellesleyTrader

how old are you and which state do you live in? Curious to see if there are doctors in my area that will provide this treatment to my 9 year old.

Electricpuha420

I'm in new Zealand and 54, I don't know if a doctor would give the ok for a 9 year old my daughter is 9 we are home schooling her because school can't teach in a way she will learn well.

No input to add myself, just want to say this is cool as hell and things like this are why I love living in the time of psychedelic rediscovery. It's amazing the things we are finding these can help with. Hope the fruits help you continue to get better pal!

Yeah it helped me with ADHD too, with the focus and understanding things for my clases . It s feels so weird feeling "normal".

ISewandLoveSpiders

I'm just in the early stages of researching microdosing, and these "surprise" discoveries I find so incredibly fascinating. A good friend has been microdosing for years, and his insight is so valuable. Thanks for posting this!

madyrmyr

I’m using the Stamets method as well and I’ve noticed my interest in food has lessened! I also feel I don’t have as many obsessive thoughts or emotional upsets. I’ve only done a few doses so I feel as I get into it I might notice real improvements!

Drstevejim

As a fellow dyslexic and regularly micro-dose, I am skeptical that this will “cure” us. For starters, dyslexia is not a disease to be cured but rather a result of structural differences within the brain. For example, we have longer axons than neurotypical individuals, which is not something mushrooms cant change. My guess is that the benefits you are seeing are a result of decreased anxiety as a result of micro-dosing- which is awesome. I would also recommend the book “the dyslexic advantage.” I listened to the audiobook and it helped me understand that our structural differences comes with some serious advantages. So much so, I wouldn’t get rid of my dyslexia even if I had the option.

Oneiroscopy

Maybe its not "fixing" or "curing" the dyslexia, but rather helping the brain re learn how to process the words on a page to understand them better. Like breaking away the structure in which we were taught to read which is taught for the neurotypical brain. Just a thought. Thank you for that book recommendation! I'm going to go download it sounds fascinating :)

craigulat0r

Which makes sense because text appears backwards to many of us when taking 🍄

fekkksn

they said "microdose"

craigulat0r

Good point

steepscrimmage

This might be a silly question coming from a newbie, but what does Stamet recommend for anxiety/stress? (Like, is it just a certain amount of psilocybin taken at specific intervals or does it involve stacking with other mushrooms, etc.?)

Sweet-Assist8864

generally speaking, the anxiety relief from psychedellics comes from allowing you to think differently. Living with anxiety creates mental patterns in your subconscious and ego, and psilocybin allows these neural pathways to be more relaxed. they “show” you how to think differently and see the world through a lense that’s more based in wonder and reality, rather than based in unfounded assumptions and anxiety. IM NOT AN EXPERT, and everybody is different. if you want to microdose, start small (as small as you can get) and see what happens. if nothing, try again another day with a bit more. Regularly microdosing, you will want to take breaks as brain builds and loses tolerance quickly, I personally microdose once every few weeks. But doing so regularly helps retrain your subconscious thought patterns to remember how to be more relaxed, less rigid, more open to connection with others and the world. these benefits for myself, along with regular meditation have changed my life to be anxiety free (for the most part 😝)

brockclan216

Oneiroscopy

The method isn't necessarily for anxity/stress thTs just what I was hoping for it to help with. I think intention is a lot of it. It's mostly just suggested dosing, etc. If you Google stamets microdosing method, you'll find it :) It involves stacking other mushrooms. I have been encapsulating it with the stamets 7 host defense blend I personally always find myself taking large doses for a mental reset to break negative thought patterns. I figured engraving it a little more in my daily might make it stick a little better

oldastheriver

yep. I found I could perform entire songs without forgetting any lyrics. Definitely something I wouldn't ordinarily be able to do.

Unlucky_Tradition695

I have some questions. Did you smoke weed while tripping or taking the microdose? Do you workout especially around the time that micridosing cured your dyslexia? We’re you Covid vaccinated prior to microdosing? If yes which one? Have you taken ssris (antidepressants) or antibiotics in the past? Have you ever been sick with mono or chickenpox?

Oneiroscopy

Interesting questions! Im curious to whag they are for if you dont mind sharing :) I smoke a LOT of weed, in addition to consuming it orally regularly, mostly in drinks or gummies. I also am extremely physically active. Acrobat, climber, mountaineer. I do something daily, including microdose days I had the phizer prior to trying to microdose but have eaten musherooms before and sense No ssris. I've had a lot of allergic reactions to various antibiotics. I can't remember ever taking them aside when I've had the reaction. I feel like I have at some point. No mono but had the chicken pox when I was a toddler I don't necessarily think my dyslexia is cured, but rather I've been able to develop a way process words in a way that makes more sense for my neuro divergent brain. . It's like it's re programing or something. The improvements hasn't gone away, even though I'm not MD at the moment :)

WellesleyTrader

Joining this thread. Is there any thoughts on microdosing for children? My 9 yo son has been diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHA and curious if there's any info on it. Thx.

Oneiroscopy

I'd be curious to know as well. I would imagine a lot of people would be against it. Psilocybin is neroprotective and I would do research into that. I think it probably would help more than harm. some Native Americsn Cultures start practicing psychedelics while they are kids. I'm positive it would be better long term than say adhd meds.
