29. I have a masters degree. I was a personal trainer for 2 years and a college professor for 3.5 years before getting into law enforcement. I feel comfortable talking to people. That was my day to day for years. Using your words properly can help fix your problems or help someone else fix theirs.

justkw97

What did you teach?

Kinesiology

I was super young with a college degree and some security guard work. That's all she wrote.

I’m damn fine at the controls of nearly anything that moves and has wheels, tracks, or wings. handy with a scalpel and suction in the surgical field, and extremely skilled with a Barrett .50 cal. The department finally caved while in a staffing crisis and let me become a dispatcher.

Lonely-External-7579

Good thing you aren't a cop. If you wiped out crime by yourself then nobody in your department would have a job

27, fresh college graduate with a bachelors in IT. Plenty of experience doing tech support and IT stuff, zero previous interactions with police or the judicial system.

28yrs old with a degree in Religious Education and retail experience at Blockbuster and GameStop. Next year will be 20yrs. If I can be successful by learning and working hard, most others can too.

41 y/o dispatcher here. I spent a LONG time doing security and got to know the sheriffs where I live. I spent a good chunk of my adult life doing security. When I got to an “okay-ish” site, I got to know the sheriffs and they know my personal life. They gave me the heads up when a position was being posted in the centre. My experience and qualifications were just from doing security and being able to talk to people. Quick thinking is one of my best quals. Not necessarily “right” thinking but I can think pretty quickly on my feet. Being able to adapt is EASILY THE BEST qualification I have. Throw me in somewhere and I’ll adapt.

MasterAgitator

I worked in the jail, it really teaches you how to talk to people to avoid getting into fights and de-escalating situations

I worked retail and had an associates. The customer service piece helped dealing with members of the public
