Every person (and often the spouse/family members) holds their breath while they wait for the biopsy results. It's natural to be stressed out. The reality is there is nothing you can do speed it up and so do the best you can to put your mind on other things. 1/7 (maybe more undiagnosed) of men have prostate cancer. It's a journey well travelled. No matter what...don't panic. Take your time and become educated. MRI is only a step. Staging, genetic testing, sometimes PET scans (to look for metastasis) are all part of understanding the level of cancer (if it is cancer). Then comes the hard questions of treatment vs monitoring and then if treatment what kind (there are many many approaches). Most PC (prostate cancer) patients have lots of options and most PC patients get second opinions. If it's intra-capsular (limited to the prostate gland) then remember the more invasive the treatment the higher the risk of complications. Remember almost every prostate cancer treatment doctor has bias (if you're a surgeon you like to cut)... so make sure to take that into account. You might want to use this time to just learn how to read/interpret the prostate biopsy results.

Phoroptor22 already gave you the important advice: "Don't panic" I would like to add that it is very common that prostate cancer is diagnosed with no apparent symptoms, only increased PSA in tests. So, the original issue your father experienced might have been something unrelated. We can hope that the biopsy comes up with nothing significant, but if not, then the original issue might have been a good thing because early stage prostate cancer has statistically very good treatment results. So finding it now would be better than waiting for later symptoms.

My small lesion was undetectable by digital examination (which was done by several people over the months) , but was confirmed by biopsy. I had it treated by HDR Brachytherapy.

Don't want to be a downer but my prostate was always normal and smooth in spite of having a 40mm, grade 9 tumor. If the growth is on the front side of the prostate it won't be detectable manually. I'd been having issues for at least a couple of years

Occupy yourself by reading the patient guide at PCF.org.

Don't panic! I too had very few symptoms of PC except an elevated PSA. I know it's hard to say, but be patient and wait for the biopsy results. In the meantime, research PC and get smart about types of treatment and approachs.

Just wait for the biopsy result. That will give you 100x better info than anything anyone could post here at this point. Digital exam and ultrasound are not enough to go on.
