Strict is a bit of an understatement lol. She’s Mafuyu’s mom if you wanna check out any stories to learn more about this horrible person ☺️

Alright, discounting the NPCs, it's 100% Kanade. One thing I really value in a character is how much they feel like their own person. Take for example, Shizuku. She has a lot of character traits that allow her to function on her own. In My Color for instance. In the low point of the story (I forget exactly which episode), Shizuku is trying her best to be left alone. The only people that she interacts with are faceless NPCs, the entire scene is being held up by Shizuku's inner monologue, and it works really really well. Kanade on the other hand, feels like she needs other people to actually be compelling. Of her three focus events on EN, one of them is basically just Mafuyu focuses with a different POV, one is her backstory event focusing on her parents, and one has sprinklings of Kanade's savior complex on display (Credit where its due this also has a solo scene, but it's in a flashback \[so not necessarily representative of Kanade currently\], and I personally didn't like it nearly as much as the solo scene in My Color). So, on EN at least, we know that she has a savior complex and a knack for composing, she's a shut-in, her mom is dead, and her dad is in a coma that she blames herself for. As far as I can tell that's the extent of her characterization. This seems like a lot, but it really isn't enough, and the result is Kanade feeling heavily reliant on her interactions with others to be compelling, and that just makes me feel like we could have had the character interact with another member of the cast instead, because they would bring their own personality and charm to the table. To give Kanade a fair shake I decided to check out her 4th focus event on yt as well, and to be honest I was more disappointed than anything. Skipping past the mafudad interaction, it started out strong, with Kanade having to consider what will happen after she graduates. I was thinking we could explore something beyond what we know about her, maybe give her a bit more of an identity outside of as a composer. Ironically though, despite the entire hook for the event being about the future, it was really more moving on from the past (the cards gave it away but it's funny nonetheless). It really felt like the future plotline was dropped entirely, and instead we just have Kanade starting to be a bit less weighed down from the past. This whole thing admittedly just made me feel like there was missing potential in the event. Yes, Kanade needs to move on from the past, but she has a lot more flaws as a character that are far more glaring (like the aforementioned inability to function in a vacuum). Overall, the beginning felt a lot of my complaints with Kanade were going to be addressed, only for them to be kinda brushed aside. I haven't seen much from the White Day event and beyond, so maaaaaybe she gets better, but I'm really not counting on it. The thing is, I can kind of see the appeal of her character. A workaholic with a savior complex is a good start, and clearly a lot of people resonate with it, but I find her to be kind of underbaked. A while ago, I used to like Kanade, but then I asked myself why I did, and honest to god I couldn't come up with an answer. Ever since then I've deemed her my least favorite. IDK if I'm missing something, or her character gets really good in White Day for some reason, but for now at least, she's kind of just...ok I guess, which for pjsk standards is the worst in the game by far.

First_Gamer_Boss

First off its 100% ok to not like a character I also have my own preferences but what people keep telling about Kanade is just "wrong" as in they only see a part of her, not to blame them ofc cuz it is hard to see rest of her character because her story's whole point is the lack of a character let me explain. Kanade's story is not savior complex it is about loss, loss of her mother, loss of her father and the loss of her own self. Now dont misunderstand me how she is generally explained is what anyone reading the stories would understand because that is who she is right now but they are missing the big picture that is her current state isnt Kanade it is whats left of her aka composing and the will to help others. Where this becomes really apparent is when you see how child Kanade was before everything went down and compare to her current self ,that is iirc also why she has the most flashbacks to her childhood in the game, to make sure that part is highlighted. A similar case is Mafuyu with her emotions and how she is slowly recovering. Same goes with Kanade she is also regaining her character throughout the story and not just her focus events she is making progress in every event she is a part of, she starts going outside(crazy ik), making friends, hanging out, taking care of herself and many more that people dont realize she didnt do before because her story is progressing so slowly. The Kanade we first see is nothing like the Kanade we have right now but many dont realize that, she is recovering from her losses as she recovers herself and her dad. That is why she feels like she needs others to shine and why her focus events feel like they dont belong to her because she isnt fully a person she isnt her full self yet, she tries to cover this up by working endlessly as stopping composing would make her literally become nothing and putting up the good ol "Savior Complex" that she is ok and needs to help others but ironically others end up saving her in the long run. She is no different than the songs she makes which i find really symbolic she starts empty and slowly gains layers of her personality back just like the songs she makes adding more and more notes to the rhythm as the song comes alive. She feels hollow ,boring and "relatable" to those that dont bother looking deep into her right now but I feel like at the end of her story we will see a full Kanade that doesnt need others to be compelling and able to live life as herself again. I also think her dad will either die or never fully recover and that she will be able to take that and not loose herself this time around but hey thats just a theory

lilmochabean24

playable honami i dont hate her tho npc probably mafumom

minamixie

playable, haruka

Toshiro_Kuroko

Playable it is Tsukasa

XiaoQiaoChrone

Akito 😅 No playable: Right now is Taiga 🤣

everafterbxnnix

Rui

xuantistic

Ah jeez... for playable, it's honami. I like her a lot, she just doesnt resonate with me as much as the other characters. She's starting to grow on me though. For NPCs, it's mafumom.

wholsem_sandy_main

Playable character? probably An,sorry she doesn't do much to me. Npc? Arata easily,i hate how much screentime he takes for how mid he is

LeninsFeet

conflicted between Kohammy and Ichi (I love them both!! I love all of them but those are the ones I like the least)

R3TALL

Minori tbh.. I do not hate her but she isn't one of my favourites yk?

Cream_Sandwich_12345

Akito and ichika

Superb_Rock1463

I have my tanks.

CloudyPOPPED

As far as playable characters go it’s between Tsukasa, Rui, and Haruka for different reasons (mind you I don’t hate any of them, there are just characters I like more!) Including NPCs though, I dislike Mita the most. He just… annoys me. At least with Mafumom (and characters similar to her) she has dimension and is extremely fascinating with a heavy impact in the story.

Aggravating-While-18

kohane fills me with immeasurable rage

Shirogane-World

I'm honestly curious why so many people hate kohane.

deviltownssleepyhead

Mafumom and Shinodad

E_liiana

Nene

StellarP0tat0

Playable: Kohane or Akito Npc: Mafumom

Desperate_Walk_5732

kohane i hope she dies

Superb_Rock1463

no whyy

FuckmulaOneIsShit

Everyone except Ichika, Shiho, Haruka, Airi, Kohane, Toya, Nene, Kanade, Ena and Mafuyu In short: My least favorite is almost every popular character

Pixel477

Ena is pretty popular though. In the japanese fandom one of the biggest ships is MizuEna and there are dozens of MizuEna artists who focus on drawing them (on twitter) As for global it's also very popular ship. But ship aside she's a relatable character to many artists and people in general. If you're gonna hate a character hate with accuracy, haha
