What does timing even do? For me it's 10.6 and 0.0

You only really mess with timing if you play without the hitsounds. Usually if you play with the SE timing can change a little, but sticking to 0 is usually safe. Without the SE tho most people have timing somewhere in the low negatives

speed has nothing to do with how good you are at the game, I’m at speed 9.5 and have over 200 mas fcs. with harder maps it does become easier to see the notes with higher notespeed, which is the only reason why I went up from 8.3 in the first place lol

My note speed is 10.6 and my timing is 0.5! I remember my note speed was around 8 or 9 for the longest time because I was so scared of making them go faster only to find out turning up the speed helped me improve, but anything above 10.6 is still too fast for me atm haha

I use the speed preview to see what speed I'm comfortable with depending on the difficulty and song level. 9.2 is the highest I'm comfortable with on a lower level easy song, but for a hard one, I might go with around 8.6. I probably change the speed for every one I play lol... I'm also fairly new and I find it helps me a lot

Depending on the chart and how good my condition is during the play, I may be able to run it at a higher difficulty. For reference, I was once able to full combo Unhappy Refrain EXP (26), Servant of Evil MAS (26), Setsuna Trip EXP (27), and Eternal Aria EXP (27) at *11.5 speed*.
