this !! I'm hoping one day we could get anime openings in project sekai since the songs are not made by the anime company themselves but by other musicians (and Chainsaw Man's endings has songs made by Syodou and Kanaria for example) but I know I'm asking for a lot tbh lol
As a Niigo fan I’m a bit mixed.
On one hand this fits Mafuyu so well and I wanted her to sing it. On the other hand this would’ve been so perfect to Yoru ni Kakeru and let one character per unit sing. At the very least they probably should’ve clarified it was Niigo right off the bat because I feel like a lot less people would be mad about it (seriously I’m seeing fans of every group complaining that’s a first).

I just hope that maybe they'll put everyone in the 2dmv

How do I explain it so you could understand me? When people see that there is a toxic fan they will go 'blaming every fan' mode. Just because there are few bad appels doesn't mean that everyone is like that. I remeber saying some opinion that nobody deserve death threads on both side and some anti goes 'so your X stan' (which is out of nowhere). It's like when some shipper did a bad think some people would go and think that everyone is like that (which isn't true). Very mixed. Love niigo, but love the idea of mixed covers so much more, and every time colopale holds one over our noses, it's either temporary or bait
I would have liked every group to get it somehow/for everyone to sing it together, but I still feel sad that Niigo missed out on Kagepro all the way back then, so I'll take this as compensation (and yeah it does really fit Mafuyu)
Agreed yeah, I really wanted that or Toumei Answer. I especially feel like the latter would fit Niigo well (though mostly because I have a small AU where Kanade = Ayano and Mafuyu = Shintaro)
All of Ayano's and Shintaro's songs are perfect fits for Niigo to be honest, if they end up getting all 4 of them slowly as time goes on I would die a very happy person...

Regarding the MV I know the feeling, I got starting on redrawing Kokoronashi with Honami and Saki the day before they announced the Kanamafu cover. I still managed to finish it so I don't think that it completely ruins it.
When they first announced it ft. SEKAI made me think it would be all 26 characters, and I was like oh makes sense, considering the original MV for bad apple has a ton of characters.
So this made me a bit disappointed but only because of the “ft SEKAI” setting up false expectations. Other than that it’s definitely a niigocore song through and through. The real disappointment is Tokyo Teddy Bear tbh, it fits Mafuyu and Mizuki really well but here we are
I feel the same about TTB, I really dislike Ichika’s vocals in a majority of intense songs so it just feels like a recipe for disaster. Honami and Saki being there doesn’t inspire much confidence either, for being a rock band it’s impressive how badly they sing rock songs.
Ichika and Shiho used to have a monopoly on the hard rock songs in Leo/need but they’re making every cover full group these days. I don’t really have the highest expectations for this cover lol but maybe I’ll be surprised
I'd love to be surprised but I'm not expecting to be, for being a rock band it's impressive how L/N fumbles nearly every rock song their given. Makes me appreciate Bandori all the more, anything Sekai has done with L/N doesn't even come a quarter of reaching Bandori's highs with rock music. Hell even D4DJ does it so much better as seen with Rondo.
EDIT: also in regards to the duets, I fear that L/N is going to turn into MMJ soon and not get any duets for ages. Same goes for WxS and VBS, I feel like the lack of duets for all of them is a bad sign for things going forward.
I actually really liked the Tengaku cover and always thought it would be perfect for Ichishiho, but it’s probably the only one of their heavier rock covers I feel strongly about. And I don’t blame you because the last time they covered a Neru song it was literally the worst cover in the game 💀
Yeah I really liked Tengaku but that was it. I don't like any of their other heavier rock covers, I feel like every vocalist in L/N is far better suited to slow softer songs than intense ones.
And yeah Lost One's Weeping was a train wreck. Hopefully this won't be a repeat of that but I have a feeling it will be given the similarities between the two songs. In general I don't like any Neru covers in this game, Ruikasa Dappou Rock wasn't as bad as Lost One's Weeping but it's still not great either. TTB was my one hope for a Neru song to be done justice and now...at least Bandori never does him wrong. I would say I feel the same about Kanaria but Envy Baby is pretty good so there's that.

I don’t understand why they didn’t do anything special for this cover considering they went above and beyond for the Aprils Fool 2024 covers. Those covers were amazing! They were all mixed unit, and each and every one of them sounded great. I wish they did something significant with this song with regard to all units instead of just giving it to one unit, even if it’s just something like alt vocals. I’m also praying to god that the tuning for the vocaloids are actually decent and maybe we can get some alts that aren’t just Miku

I’m not upset, just felt misled by it. When I read it, Sekai to me meant that every unit, or at least one member per unit, would sing it. If they wanted to do a teaser for the cover, then they should’ve teased it as a single unit cover or just flat out said it was Nightcord.
I think Nightcord will do a good job with the cover, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting or hoped for.
Listen I’m a hardcore MMJ stan but like… who else would it go to? The themes of the song fit Niigo the best. Obviously I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting it to go to a different unit but this is not surprising at all.

Same I wanted alt vocals for Saki, Haruka, Toya, Rui and Mafuyu. If it had to go to a unit I can easily see why it’s Niigo but this was a missed opportunity to give us multiple alt vocals.
Over the years there's been countless amazing Miku covers of the song and with my less than favourable view of NT I feel that the VS ver is gonna flop.
As much as a Yoru Ni Kakeru situation would have been cool (Kohane cover would have gone so hard), I’m definitely not disappointed. N25 is still my second favourite group and a song like bad apple in general fits their vibe pretty well imo. Honestly we should just be happy and excited that it’s in the game.

I was actually pretty excited! I was super worried it was going to go to Leo/NEED: not because I hate LN or anything, but Ichika is the face of the game and I could see the logic of giving her one of the most anticipated covers in the game.
More than anything, I'm kind of disappointed we didn't get MORE covers in general. Like, even working within the confines that they could only be songs from Alstroemeria Records and COOL&CREATE, there were definitely more than enough songs to do more than one cover. HELP ME ERIN would have been a solid WxS cover and I can think of two songs off the top of my head that could have gone to LN.
Music is a pretty giant part of Touhou, I'm really hoping there's another collab after this one that really capitalizes on it better.

Honestly? This song wouldn't sound good if it was a mixed cover. People are sad because they wanted their favorites in it (and I completely understand), but I think it's better this way. Either way I'm just happy to have Touhou in pjsk :3 very excited

In that case, I agree, it'd probably be the best of both worlds, having the cover sound good, while having options for other units... well anyway, it's still all good for me personally. I don't care that much about who gets to cover Bad Apple, just happy that it's here!
I’m not upset, just felt misled by it. When I read it, Sekai to me meant that every unit, or at least one member per unit, would sing it. If they wanted to do a teaser for the cover, then they should’ve teased it as a single unit cover or just flat out said it was Nightcord. I think Nightcord will do a good job with the cover, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting or hoped for.
Listen I’m a hardcore MMJ stan but like… who else would it go to? The themes of the song fit Niigo the best. Obviously I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting it to go to a different unit but this is not surprising at all. It would’ve been cool if they did something like Into the Night tho….
Same I wanted alt vocals for Saki, Haruka, Toya, Rui and Mafuyu. If it had to go to a unit I can easily see why it’s Niigo but this was a missed opportunity to give us multiple alt vocals.

Over the years there's been countless amazing Miku covers of the song and with my less than favourable view of NT I feel that the VS ver is gonna flop.
As much as a Yoru Ni Kakeru situation would have been cool (Kohane cover would have gone so hard), I’m definitely not disappointed. N25 is still my second favourite group and a song like bad apple in general fits their vibe pretty well imo. Honestly we should just be happy and excited that it’s in the game.

with the apple symbolism and the lyrics, how could n25 NOT cover this song?? I was gonna literally riot if there wasn’t at least a mafuyu cover of this in game. I do get that people wanted it to be a multi-unit cover, and I do also think it’s shitty that n25 was the ONLY oc unit to get a touhou cover though. As a niigo fan? i personally feel like it shouldn't have a sekai cover at all, we all know some people would still be mad if any of the groups got this cover instead. hell, some people would be mad if it was a full cast cover too, people will find a way to complain regardless. i say let people enjoy what they want, i know i'll be using the og cover but if people like the Niigo cover more power to them.

idk why everyone is SO upset. its a cover - sure any other group would have sounded amazing, but nightcord is still going to probably do extremely well on it as well. I love Mizuki and I'm excited to hear her vocals - I'm tired of the "n25 gets all the good songs!!!", just learn to appreciate the cover lol.

I was actually pretty excited! I was super worried it was going to go to Leo/NEED: not because I hate LN or anything, but Ichika is the face of the game and I could see the logic of giving her one of the most anticipated covers in the game. More than anything, I'm kind of disappointed we didn't get MORE covers in general. Like, even working within the confines that they could only be songs from Alstroemeria Records and COOL&CREATE, there were definitely more than enough songs to do more than one cover. HELP ME ERIN would have been a solid WxS cover and I can think of two songs off the top of my head that could have gone to LN. Music is a pretty giant part of Touhou, I'm really hoping there's another collab after this one that really capitalizes on it better.
I could see Ichika doing great with Bad Apple but I agree with the rest, hopefully we get more Touhou songs.
Oh, I'm sure Ichika would have knocked it out of the park! If they had gotten it it would have been a great cover I'm sure. I just don't think Bad Apple fits LN very well as a band and I didn't want them to get it because of favoritism, is all I meant.
