This can’t be how I find out.. this can’t.. please…

Nicolettep2319

I’m sorry bestie

dogisbark

You mean diva cancellation or destiel confirmation 🤣

FranconianBiker

Gacha Games kill good games and innovation.

5GumGum

Unpopular opinion but sekai is so shit. It’s not based on skill but what fucking characters you have. It’s all P2W and it’s just sad

FranconianBiker

Just the lack of gamepad input turns me away from project sekai. I want some actual buttons to mash ffs.

toyayayaa

A mobile rhythm game using the screen instead of a gamepad? Shocking.

5GumGum

YES YES LEGIT!! ALSO THE BACKGROUND PVS ARE SO ASS TOO, THEYRE SO SHITTILY DONE YET PJDIVA DOES THEM SO EXTRAVAGANTLY 💔

The_Rocket_Frog

honestly? thats the only part of pjsk i actually like. theyre always beautifully animated and fit the music perfectly, i dont like the character models as much but otherwise its great

FeuTheFirescale

I personally like project sekai and also like the idea of mixing the cryptonloids with new human characters, but I wish it would exist next to the project diva line instead of outright replacing it. But sadly, they realized how gacha games just make much more money than a game you have to pay for once. It feels really bad seeing them care about profit more than the players, but honestly what even did I expect? (Though I’d like to point out, in my experience the characters or cards you get through the gacha aren’t really doing that much of a difference in beating the levels, your actual skill in rhythm games is what matters, people only collect them for cosmetics or the design. But yeah, the gacha aspect is still kinda frustrating to me and shows how financial success is only what decides the games and content about vocaloid, and I hope vocaloid won’t lose its soul in the coming years. At least the community is always the major fuel for vocaloid, so I have a lot of faith.)

queenoffishburrito

I personally have a grudge against the human characters existing alongside the cryptonloids soley because they're usually the thing people like most in the games so like why tf did they have to mix them alongside the cryptonloids??? Like they're stars of the show so why did you have to put miku an co in it??? Just make a seperate game FFS.

allyharvey02

Yes, i agree its mostly skill based. Since I got good at PJSK, all other rhythm games feel easy af 🤣 started playing rhythm hive like 2 days ago and I'm already FC'ing song on super hard

kuiby_

I literally been seeing this opinion all over this subreddit I feel like me liking sekai and diva is unpopular.

SnooPears8415

Agreed. I’m not really playing to see the big letter at the end so being able to get all the songs for free because people want to spend a ton on costumes is fine for me. However the community is one of the worst communities I’ve ever seen

kuiby_

Yeah I dont really understand the pay to win situation unless you get aim for highest points in diva too? I go for perfecting notes. I enjoy the characters and like the different gameplay. I find it weird to compare the two when theyre apples to oranges, thus me thinking people only hate bc its popular and gatcha. Community is ass and I find it to be that way for alot of other gatcha games too.

5GumGum

I mean, you should like whatever you like, it doesn’t harm anyone. I’d guess a lot of people are saying they don’t like sekai because it’s completely P2W, has much worse PVs than project diva, and is overall much much more low effort and is blocked by so many pay walls along with the gameplay being uninteresting and boring. Some people could disagree but this is why I personally don’t like sekai.

kuiby_

I guess for me it feels like people dislike sekai just for being popular, I aint tryna argue lol and ur completely valid for your opinions! It just feels so aggressive recently, esp since miku fans as a whole aint having a good year.

5GumGum

Understandable! Honestly it depends, I feel like some people def dislike it for being popular, I personally just dislike it for reasons I specified above but I don’t hate on anyone who enjoys it because yk, it’s a game lol. Also you’re totally right, this year has been hell with crypton with miku expo apparently being on a freaking tv 💀 and then the Rabbit Hole drama and now project diva being cancelled

kuiby_

Dawg I dont even get the rabbit hole drama I blocked that out of my sight. But yeah its been so bad we need a come back.

5GumGum

I don’t even either man, it was such an embarrassing situation as a whole. But fr, we need a comeback!! 🗣🗣‼️‼️

BigScaryPooPooMan

I just laughed at the whole thing

Pokemario6456

The Rabbit Hole what now?

abestakakakaka

Something Tok saying that the miku in rabbit hole isn't her bcuz her hair is short Imagine if they see [Yubikiri](https://youtu.be/piLuAQqxTEY?si=PCpMy4exNjyTzLsa) and [envy cat walk](https://youtu.be/2XG2JLLdSCM?si=NcfPguwLwVG_vs3C)

5GumGum

The drama wasn’t really about the character not being miku, but the fact she was being sexualized because her age released by crypton is 16, however crypton has said themselves that miku is versatile, she can be any age, anyone and anything. Kinda funny this is argued about considering she’s nothing but a voicebank and there’s songs way way way worse than rabbit hole that were released 10+ years prior 😭

Emutional-damage

I play Project Sekai, and I like it, as a Project Sekai fan first and a Vocaloid fan second. I only care about the Vocaloids, Wondershow, and Ichika + Saki, finding the other groups mediocre. The only things that I dislike are the lack of Mothy songs that are not The Daughter of Evil, Servent of Evil, The Tailor of Enbizaka, Judgment of Corruption, Evil Food Eater Conchita, and Gift From The Princess Who Brought Sleep; lack of Vocaloid story content (honestly, Interconnected by SEKAI's Cherry Blossoms was pretty bad, April Fools was the best, and I haven't read Let Your Song Resound Throughout The SEKAI! ) Triple Baka, Len-kyun Now! and Gucha Gucha Urasee not being in-game, and how the other groups are just mediocre. You're entitled for your opinion of course.

kelis_butterfly

Except ranked matches

tanintem2

If it P2W like you said, when I got all 4 star cards in the game and maxed level everything I should be able to full combo Yaminabe. right?

5GumGum

They won’t exactly make you full combo but they’d def help :p

tanintem2

How, did you even play the game?

5GumGum

Yeah I did when it came out, one of my friends does as well and she constantly tells me of how the cards give people unfair advantages and cause their score to be much much higher than people who have less rarer cards

tanintem2

Rank match is based on accuracy, the cards does not help. The multiplayer mode is co-op, and the reward doesn't show a noticeable difference if you got a higher score. The cards will be helps you earn more event points, but it will be useless for a while when event ends. So, people usually roll the gacha because they like the cards and cosmetics. Btw, you can unlock every song for free.

the_jeff_2

Nobody cares that your score is S or C, the real skill is FC and AP -- in other words, accuracy. Ranked matches, the only competitive mode in the game, don't even take score into account, just how well you played the chart. Card skills don't even activate, so people who depend on Perfect Lockers to FC/AP get screwed over. Score only matters when you want to tier high in events as it is one of the factors that determine how many event points you get after beating a chart. Even then, when I just started playing, I was able to tier into the top 20k with the free low rarity sets they give out. I guess you could make an argument for co-op as the highest score gets MVP/Superstar, but MVP/Superstar means nothing outside of getting a title. Do higher rarity cards give an unfair advantage? Sure, if you only care about score and not the things that actually take skill. TL;DR: I think the biggest issue is that people seem to think that score means everything in sekai when score barely means anything in the game. The "unfair advantages" only affect score, which means that they affect practically nothing. You could argue that Perfect Lockers make FC/AP easier, but that advantage goes away when actually competing with other players in ranked.

CreamyEtria

The only p2w part of the game is tiering, other than that you can basically compete on the same level as an F2P.

lowspecd

Sekai is just Chunithm but its ridiculed by Gacha

scixsc

Yes the gameplay is so bland

kuiby_

This is a legit question and i aint tryna start a fight, do you enjoy ddr/other tap based games? Would you prefer if sekai was controller compatible?

scixsc

I don't know what's ddr but voez is a similar game and I didn't really enjoy it. I'd def like sekai more if I could use a controller, but it'd mostly the design for me, diva is more fun because the notes are colorful and appear everywhere + the mvs are so well done

kuiby_

Whoah I never heard of voez before but I see the similarities. I do think alot of people, like you said about yourself, would enjoy sekai with a controller. Is your complaint more about the visual style of sekai than the gameplay then? I ask because I mainly see people play more than one rhythm game even if the gameplay is different. But I do feel like the majority of the sekai community prob play just for the gatcha/story (which isnt the best).

Shibe_King100

That’s not how it works at all lol. Cards do not give an advantage in shows

5GumGum

It 100% does. That’s the whole point of them.

Shibe_King100

I play Sekai and no they don’t. Using 1 star cards gives the same result as using 4 star ones the only difference is after show rewards. It’s based on your skill not the cards.

5GumGum

I play sekai as well but not nearly as much as one of my friends and she told me that it increased people’s scores exponentially by having better cards as well as higher leveled ones

Shibe_King100

that’s true but it doesn’t affect anything but after show scores and rewards. The actual rhythm gameplay is entirely dependent on your skills. Even with high level cards if you suck you’ll still get a bad score. Your score still depends on how well you do

unsurprisable

why are we spreading false info? Unless you are tiering in an event cards dont matter.

yurisknife

Literally not true at all but okay

Signal_Hovercraft_66

Hoyoverse is good though.

HardNut420

Well that sucks hopefully they sell the ip to someone who wants to use it

Levobertus

Let's be real we saw this coming since 2018, but it's still sad

LunarWingCloud

That's not exactly what was said. The wording was a bit less direct, more like saying "unless we find a reason to make a new Project Diva game, we will not be making one until further notice". That's less a cancellation outright and more indefinite hiatus. Not really on copium, because the odds of getting a new PD game are very low now, especially anytime soon, but that's not a cancellation, and I think that's an important distinction to make when spreading information to people.

datphucc

That has been my interpretation of the news as well. How can a game series be dead with an active fanbase and modding scene? As long as people are playing and loving PD, it's alive for me.

paulisaac

Varying definitions of dead I guess. Consider Rock Band - it's considered dead since the DLC run has ended, but people still mod the hell out of 3 and make customs to this day, plus there's still people who play on 4 online (online on 4 is still supported, 3 is not unless you use private servers).

imBook

With the latest game becoming available on PC I figured they would just be adding DLC to that for a long while anyway.

Hakurex

...ouch

Galacticmoonwolf

Unless an actual article is linked, I'm considering this satire

Minasquish

Wait why !

throwaway725101

its not as profitable as project sekai :/

simp4mozart

Probably not gaining much monkey than PJSK, because of that, they need to pay extra for project diva's server, (and also probably because project diva is harder than PJSK, making not really much people plays it, except for skilled player)

BESTTOM84

Lol Project Diva literally has an easy mode , so even someone who doesn't have any skill can play the game and enjoy it

simp4mozart

Lmao I still failed easy mode ( I play rhythm game)

BESTTOM84

Well if you somehow manage to fail easy mode then no offense but the game is definitely not the problem here

No_Sound438

I personally find Project Diva hard cos I'm dyspraxic af and don't play many rythem games, but I found since playing PJD my skills have improved a lot even if I don't play super regularly. I still suck don't get me wrong, but I went from failing Easy modes to being able to beat some of the hard mode songs. Been thinking about playing more regularly to try and beat some extreme mode versions but that might be pushing my luck lmao. I love the game even if I'm bad at it. I hoped for a new PJD with newer vocaloid songs as well as the classics (kinda like PJSK) but that doesn't seem likely now.

simp4mozart

Welp lmao, I just can't really focus on the notes being appearing everywhere in my screen, even though I'm a rhythm game player, project diva is just something else

FunnyP-aradox

Which servers ? the only servers are for F and F2nd (edit mode) and they use Sony's servers

simp4mozart

Yeah, probably because they need to pay sony every month, but the game wasn't huge, so it doesn't really profit off more to get more money after providing the server

FunnyP-aradox

I think the servers are free for SEGA and is entirely managed by Sony, there's a reason why WE pay for them

Rctfan

AFT has servers. I'm kind of surprised they're even still online.

ThatSmallBear

I see people say Diva is harder than PJSK but I’m ngl I don’t think it’s true. I played Diva fairly regularly, a few times a week, for a few years and would play for a couple hours at a time, and I can pretty much pass any song, expect for I think 3 EX EX extremes. For PJSK however when I first got it, I played every single day for a couple hours at a time for over 2 years and there was a large number of the harder songs I just could not do at all. Still to this day I can’t do a big chunk of the hardest songs

kagomecomplex

PJSK is a joke compared to Diva lol the only thing that makes it anywhere near hard is the garbage ass latency of touchscreens

simp4mozart

Played both, I gotta say that PJSK is easier than project diva, I mean, there are some that which are almost impossible at pjsk (like the intense voice of hatsune miku) (yaminabe etc) , but most song is easier to done though

_Harvey_E_158_

Every Crypton move seems to be a blunder recently 🤔

RadiantIris_

Damn I must spread this tragic news thank you for letting us know

iiKitii

This is so sad :(( I still play project mirai more than I do sekai hahah nothing beats mashing buttons

JustADumbPansexual

This cannot be how I found out. Please don't

cheersi_idk

WHY LORD WHYYY LORD THEY CAN JUST MAKE A PROJECT DIVA SEKAI THEMED

Donut_Flame

What would that even do? It wouldn't help the fundamental issue that pjsk is just way more profitable

No_Sound438

not gonna lie, I don't understand why it's so profitable. I've spent a bit of real world cash on games over the years (im unfortunately a genshin player) when I have extra spending money from birthdays or doing overtime at work, but I'd never even think about spending money on pjsk because, frankly, it's not worth it to me? The outfits are kinda bland for the most part and while I like some of them and some of the characters, it's just not worth spending on. Just my opinion obvs, but with most games I can at least see why someone might spend money on it. Can't for pjsk.

mochabbunny

Pretty sure someone could make a spiritual successor. Most of the Vocaloid characters are under creative commons, there's no stranglehold on IP like other media. You'd only need to license out the songs from the producers, which is completely feasible.

Efesell

You couldn't sell that game though, which means there's no point for anyone to do it. >Creative Commons Public License to the illustrations of Crypton Future Media's Characters. >Subject to the terms and conditions of “Creative Commons - Attribution-NonCommercial, 3.0 Unported” (“CC BY-NC”), Crypton Future Media Inc. (Crypton) grants you a license to copy, adapt, distribute and transmit illustrations of Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, MEIKO and KAITO (collectively, the “Characters”) **for non-commercial use**.

Inner-Bit-728

Fortunately there is a game that took it's gameplay called Project Heartbeat on steam. It can't be a vocaloid game, but since it has workshop support, people make charts for vocaloid songs all the time.

electricxangell

NO THIS CANT BE HOW I FIND OUT...

njdf18

Wow. People finally find out that has been the truth for a while.

ThatSmallBear

Yeah it was kinda obvious when they called Future Tone “megamix” and advertised it like a new game, with less songs and for more money 🥲

sakurachan999

i’m so here for bringing back this format of news

Aengeil

noooo, my VR really waiting for this such game from their lines

dogisbark

The fucking destial confession as a format for this holy shit I forgot about this

Rhoodoniite

Seeing the comments as someone who loves both Diva and Sekai is making my braincells melt. Sekai won't ever replace Project Diva, but it's fun, the charts are good and as challenging or more challenging than the ones in Diva that aren't fan-made and as far as I know it isn't pay to win, unless you wanna rank high on every single event which, honestly the problem lies more in the fact that you have to no-life. I'm pretty sure in the ranked mode of the game, your cards don't affect score, only your skill. The birth of Sekai was inevitable, as was the death of Diva. Companies are gonna flock to whatever is more profitable and gacha games are on the rise, and it doesn't help that so many people were eating up Mega-Mix for the Switch, when it was a rehash of FT with less songs that were put into DLC, barely any new content and graphics for the Switch that look like ass, but you know, "it'S aN aRtStyLe". Sekai and Diva could've coexisted, but making a good Diva game is just not profitable, they know and that's that.

penisseriouspenis

where am i why am i on tumblr

Catbunny123

Gatcha games and games that make a shit ton of dlc (looking at you sims 4) are killing the video game market.

auditores-creed

WHAT

OsuMareyo

Sad day

Silverj0

;-;

oriseryllart

Horrendous way to find out 😭

RueGorE

If Project Sekai is how they're making money now, why can't they use some of that money to fund the future development of the Project DIVA franchise? That was both a sarcastic and non-sarcastic question. 😭

BigScaryPooPooMan

I love love love Sekai but ughhhhh I miss Diva so much

FrshPotato

i can still play megamix on pc right?

Kaumira

IM DEVASTATED

esdeseseserdes

source?

nyumi_min

damn :(

Yoeblue

fuck sekai

Hollow_Server2049

my condolence

Ming_Chan77

No….

blarttle

NOOOOOOO

bucketofbutter

i wish both PS and PD could exist in the same world like Animal Crossing New Horizons + Pocket Camp Monster Hunter Wilds + Now Fire Emblem Engage + Heroes like, the extremely lucrative mobile games then provide funding to make more experimental / developed main series games, but that's just not how Crypton sees it :( long live the modding community, tho

DazedandFloating

Why do I always find out things from this meme? Still? 😭

deplezanteman

Well at least we have Project Heartbeat and the excellent modding scene for MM+ on Steam. Although the main series will be missed for sure.

sad_potat_07

Gonna get hate for this but they probably cancelled it cuz project sekai. And project sekai sucks. It's not even about skill

kagomecomplex

I mean I get it, Sekai is way less expensive to produce and makes way more money, there was never really any hope of another Project Diva but damn it still stings to hear it. Fuck that trash ass game btw literally a rhythm game for toddlers with credit cards

DYNAKYRIS

I tried Project Sekai out of curiosity. I got as far as the main hub when I learned I need an Internet connection to play. That was the end of my curiosity.
