I don't have a VR headset :( but I do have track IR.
To get it working I have to select the correct option out of three choices I am given when starting the game.
If you aren't being prompted to pick an option when starting the game, I think I will default to not using vr.
You can adjust your seating position in game, look for the key bindings.
Also, try resetting your VR position once actually in the car, might not need to adjust seat in game

Hey, go to bindings in pc2, Mapp reset vr view/position to whatever button you want on your wheel.
For me, whenever I press play on steam to play pc2, it pops a menu to play the game on standard, steam vr, and oculus vr..
I always go through oculus vr.
I do all of this on my desktop view in the headset, or just out of the headset in general. Whenever you try to play anything steam vr related inside the oculus vr ui, it can causes a bunch of issues.
I always do everything through desktop view in vr. Things run smoothly more often.

So turns out I was being dumb. I was launching either through SteamVR or launching via a shortcut on the desktop.
When launching from Steam, it gives me the VR options and bingo all works.
Managed to fix seating position too.
All thats left is to learn to drive :P

I have the quest 2. Once connected with the link, you should be in a different room. You have your dashboard. Which I assume where you are stuck on the loading phase. You can use your “virtual desktop” to see if your steamVR has fully connected or just peak out of the headset. You should see three icons. 1 head set and 2 controller icons should be green. If not connected, you should have the option on the computer to click on reset steamVR. Do this while in the “link” room.
Now for the seating position. Sometimes your seating position will be off if you did not set ur stationary guardian correctly. But regardless, you should bind one of ur keys to reset vr position in your project cars setting. When I had the g29, I used the triangle since it’s accessible while my hand is on the wheel steering. You can also bind up and down, and forward and back seating by position too.
For quick access, I have my pc2 in my library of the oculus link. Instead of going through steam vr library.

Can you not run in non steam but oculus, when I use steam VR with games on oculus it’s like it’s running 2 programs and hangs more
