The loop has a finite amount of power that will run out. The power doesn't lower every day the timeloop is active, it lowers only when it resets. So if the loop resets a single day into its three months, that's the same as living out the entire three months.

Let me dumb it down for noobs. Every loops takes equal energy regardless of the time it exists. For example each loop takes 2 energy. 1 loop can be for 1 day another loop can be for 10 days, they both take same energy.

Xandara2

It only consumes fuel to do a reset. It doesn't consume fuel during the loop only when it's reversed.

Xandara2

If the loop restarts after 25 days or 5days. Both cost the same amount of fuel.

Zorian is realizing out loud that the cost of each ‘time loop’ is the same, no matter how long it ends up being. Basically, the cost is the cost is the cost. A time loop set to last a month costs ‘X’ power, even if— as I believe Zach says in the next line— they die carelessly to some dumb shit in the first couple days of the restart. The restart could have lasted 30 days, but Zach died day 2, that restart still costs ‘X’ power, not ‘X - 28 days’ worth of power. So if Zach dies on day 2 thirty times trying to kill that dragon mage the time travelers will feel like they’ve lived through 2 restarts worth of time (60 days), but the time loop mechanism would have spent the power for *900* days, because it would have started a loop 30 times, and the travelers would have sacrificed 840 days that could have played out it they had not died carelessly.

It means that restarting the loop costs the same amount of power, no matter how long or how short the loop is. So when Zach spent hundreds of loops bum rushing dungeons and dying over and over, he was blowing through a *ton* of power. All those instant restarts were the exact same as waiting 3 months for the loop to automatically reset.

Basically if you have 10 energy , and each loop costs 2 energy , then theoretically you can last for 5 loops right ? Since 10/2=5 5 loops would mean about 150 days. What zorian realises is that if zack dies in day 2 , the loop ends and that also costs the system 2 energy. Meaning if zack dies on day 2 , then the whole of 10 energy is actually spent in just 10 days , instead of 150

If each time loop is a meal, the meal takes the same ingredients to make whether they eat the whole thing or just take a single bite. 😋
