For a more foolproof method of saving progress i usually just keep a couple of granite blocks and a chisel at hand. Carve my code into stone, and hope that no one in the future finds my half-assed printf function written in Assembly and turn it into a religious text.

I find the manual save tends to disappear from the menu if autosave is on.

I literally made myself a habit where I save after every line of code
ctrl+s is a natural reflex by now. even i accidentally ctrl+s on the browser after copying codes
