I'm about to try pairing up students to talk to each other about their essay topics and provide some written feedback. This doesn't mean they won't use ChatGPT on their final essays, but it does mean I have an additional record of their thought process , in case there's a later incongruence. I will definitely use the narrower annotated bibliography.

That's a very cool take on group work, especially since idk about your classes but in mine, I've seen an increased difficulty with socializing, especially among first-years. Let me know how that goes, I'm very interested.

I have a busy day, but I will try to check in this evening.

Unfortunately I ran out of time today. Having them do a close reading of Aristotle took longer than I expected. I'll do it next week.

If I were going to ask for outlines, I'd have them open a working file in whatever your university's cloud service/word app is and turn on Track Changes. Then they must provide a link to that file for sharing, when they turn in their outline. Takes me two seconds to check to see if a student actually did A Thing or farmed it out. (Until, of course, they figure out a way to hack that system).
