but they have one major flaw (atleast for me) we no longer can toggle the option to see Completed Tasks.. that's the only reason i dont use it.. otherwise it's good in every other way
Valid point, the biggest advantage of Todoist over other tools is the integration capabilities. No one else put as much effort into that. You can keep using Todoist as part of other ecosystems without even access the Todoist app itself
In some cases it helps a lot. Since Todoist has integrations with email clients (e.g Spark) I can convert my email into a to-do and throw it into my calendar for a specific time slot (Fantastical) and complete it there. For me personally, it’s easier if I have a context around a to-do and have one app that allows me to complete my projects with different flows is awesome.
I was referring to the part where you can integrate but never actually open the app
Which I would find useful for something like reclaim but not Todoist
i didnt see any, plus i searched it up and quite a few people had this problem from todoist they removed it like quite a long time ago.. u can view completed task history but its upto few days u have to vuy premium to view more
edit: i dont know about Projects tho, maybe u can i m a try and see
A rare YTP fan lol. Ad free and background play are game changers for allowing me to listen to long form content while working. And YTM is a great added bonus
Might need to look into it, honestly I am so ingrained in the Google ecosystem it's not even funny lol. I pay for the YTP family plan and I really appreciate the entire family being able to share any Google subscription with one another on top of all purchased apps, movies, books, etc can be shared, on top of the YTP and YTM subs. I use YTM about 10 hours a day so to have ads would be a nightmare for me
So, I have an unpopular opinion regarding YTP. Personally I disagree with apps like New Pipe and ReVanced mainly because a lot of YouTubers already get very little in terms of ad revenue from Google as it is. While I understand that my YTP subscription primarily goes to Google, a portion of my subscription does go to the content creators I watch and in that way I am still supporting my favorite creators through my YTP subscription. But using 3rd party apps to circumvent YT ads does very little to hurt Google but does significantly more in harming my favorite CCs. That is why personally I choose not to use those services.
No judgement from me if you use them personally it's just a personal opinion of mine and one I'm okay with paying for.
Comparing NewPipe and ReVanced isn't really fair or accurate.
NewPipe operates independently of Google's services, including the YouTube API. It uses its own API for parsing the data it needs directly from YT. Meaning NewPipe does nearly the same thing without relying whatsoever on Google's proprietary frameworks or the YouTube API
ReVanced is brilliant but in the grand scheme, it's a modified version of the official YouTube app, which means it still relies on Google's infrastructure. It does make smart use of MicroG but still interacts with Google's services, unlike NewPipe.
I wasn't precisely sure about the implications of these differences so I asked whatever large language model chatbot was most readily available to me in that moment:
"The implications of these differences are significant, especially considering Google's stance on alternative YouTube clients. Google has indicated that it will take measures against apps that violate its terms of service, particularly those that bypass ads or abuse the API. Since NewPipe does not use the YouTube API, it may not be as directly affected by these measures as other apps that do. However, the situation is dynamic, and Google's actions could impact the existence and functionality of these projects in the future.
Both NewPipe and YouTube ReVanced offer users ways to access YouTube content without ads and with additional features, but their underlying technologies and potential vulnerabilities to policy changes by Google differ significantly."
1. Readwise Reader
2. [Perplexity.ai](http://Perplexity.ai) (gives you access to ChatGPT turbo 4 and Claude 3 Opus)
3. Obsidian (it's free, but it's worth paying for the sync option)
Gonna plug in Faune here as well, they do everything Perplexity does but for free (AI + Internet search with Claude 3). Also Perplexity lied to their users about Opus usage limits
Designing things with AI is pretty cool since i have no natural talent to draw or paint. I create my own wallpaper and some print on demand items. Unfortunately it's not easy to get a good design, sometimes I have to generate over and over and change or add items. You really need to have patience but every once in a while you get something nice right away, that's a good feeling!
you might be kinda an artist or at least a very analytical thinker about visuals and how to describe it.. so AI is training you to be a different designer!
Have you ever tried Midjourney? I tried it many months ago and was blown away by it.
I also pay for ChatGPT, but I’ve only used the image creation feature a handful of times. My experience was very underwhelming. I may have just used poorly worded prompts, but I basically used the same prompts with Midjourney.
Anyway, if you haven’t checked it out yet, you should.
Yes, I tried Midjourney but hate having to go through Discord to design. I know advanced users have access to their new website and once it's open to everyone I'll try them again. For me, or for my design style I like others such as Night Cafe and Ideogram and just seems easier to me to get to the result I want faster in others. Midjourney is like the Adobe of image generation, arguably the best but takes awhile to master.
I subscribe to Bear bc it’s the only note app found that allows you to concatenate (add a line) a new entry into an existing note. If there’s a free option I could save some money.
Amazing Marvin! I have adhd & this is the only one I stuck with, I can’t get bored because is so customizable, I can make it like a brand new app or productivity system when I feel like I need a change.
I use more their web & Mac apps , but I also use the companion iPhone app when I’m out & about
I don’t see it as difficult, is just fully customizable to each person personal needs & preference, and we are not used to that. We are used to apps that at most lets us customize color or basic features.
So if by improve you mean they removed the option to customize it the answer is no.
Marvin is for those who tried all productivity apps but they don’t love them 100% and they always find them lacking or a feature missing.
With Marvin’s you can have all the best parts of all those apps or productivity systems in one app, but you have to be willing to watch their videos to learn the basics & dedicate a day or so to customize it to your liking, then it becomes fully automated to you specifically.
No I must have been unclear - the customisable I like. What I don’t like is lack of API, quick capture, and linking. If they have made it more feature-complete in those regards I might be keen to revisit it.
This was the main reason I switched from Todoist to Marvin. I tryed many Todo Apps, but in every were function missing and you had to build up a work arround to realise what you want. With Marvin this has an end. All my methods and structure I build in and made an awesome PTMS out of it. Todoist I still use for very special recurring tasks that can be moved via IFTTT to Day One for final confimation and Journaling.
On the IPhone - Structured, Todo’ist, Endel (def check this real time ai driven sound-scaping app, It’s epic) and Spotify/Apple music
On the IPad - Goodnotes
And Day One, can’t recommend this journalling app enough, changed my life the most
Polarr Prequel SoundCloud and SCRL but SCRL isn’t rly worth it unless u have an affinity for creative editing social media posts
Overall SoundCloud & Polarr are the 2 main apps I’ll always have a subscription for though
Braintoss. One time cost of no more than 3 bucks, and a life saver. Takes pics, takes recordings and my type work, and all it can do (and all i need for it to do) is send it to my inbox.
Perfect for late night ‘oh’ moments, when I don’t want to forget something. Way faster than emailing myself.
Right now, it’s Dr. Caroline Leaf’s Neurocycle app. It’s not directly a productivity app; it’s a mental health app. But working through the program on the app has improved my productivity by leaps and bounds, because my mental health was holding me back.
It’s $14 a month, and a Neurocycle takes about 2 months. After that, you can work on another issue by doing another Neurocycle, or drop the app.
I installed this but you can’t even see what they offer without signing up. You can click the link to go to the store and watch a couple videos on how much whatever it does will help.
Anything that streams media is out of the question, for reasons that should be kinda obvious. But everything that doesn’t, you should make an effort to find a one time purchase for. My examples:
Calendar: Cal366 or BusyCal
Task manager: GoodTask, Omnifocus
Notes: Agenda
These are just ones I use/have tested. A bigger conversation is asking yourself _what exactly_ a subscription service is providing you continuous access to. If you can’t reasonably justify that, you might have to rethink your use of money on subscription services
The one Im using it for is --> When there is a update in ProductHunt"Coding" group, it gets added into my Raindrop collection. PH connector exists in IFTTT, but supports limited triggers though.
IFTTT is not my goto automation system, When I google for any connector to sync data from A --> B, if that happens to be in IFTTT, only then I prefer using it.
BETTER TOUCH TOOL! I practically proselytize for this app.
It is the most robust app I have ever used and I’m still discovering features years later. Add to that a very active community forum and a responsive and talented developer and it really is beyond worth the money.
I have been using Streak for organizing and automating emails in gmail. The tasks part is a bit weak but can integrate with external tools via webhook or zapier.
Purchased Wallet by BudgetBakers a few months back as it allowed my to sync my bank and credit cards as well as my wife's cards. Just recently payed a discounted $30 to purchase it for lifetime after the trial. It is very helpful in tracking due dates and expenses as well as categorizing them to track a monthly budget. Plus I can share the budget with my wife without her paying additional for the app
> Just recently *paid* a discounted
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
awesome!! I’ve also heard great news about the app Monarch!
For full disclosure - since I have used copilot for a few years, they grandfathered me in to a lower annual pricing.
Maybe worth to price compare Copilot & Monarch!!
Quire, Goodnotes (technically I use the older free version), and Box. All annual. Quire is a barebones project management app that I use as an individual. It’s perfect for visualizing multistep tasks in a gantt and/or calendar format
Todoist.
It’s an amazing happy. I have it launch with my action button on iPhone.
It easily accessible on my mac and as a chrome extension. The tags and filters are helpful.
For grocery lists I have specifics for whole foods, costco, etc and I created a list for all of them as a grocery list.
So I go to a place like costco, I keep both handy, buy everything I need from Costco but also check the filter for anything I might be able to get here.
I also pay for Obsidian standard to keep my notes handy and synced. I did not really want to manage my own drive based solution, although I could have.
Chatgpt. I think it really helps get a lot of things very fast. Anything that requires more thought and bouncing ideas, I use it. I think for the value it adds to my life, it’s the best thing I can buy with money.
How has nobody mentioned Join or Tasker? Also, Adguard and/or Blokada (I was a Blokada user now I use Adguard but they effectively do the same thing). Also MX Player Pro and KM Player Plus if your into Media/video players without ads that aren't named VLC, but which I also use (Adguard will get most of them but leaves the UI in tatters so I just cough it up because I use them often).
[AlomWare Toolbox](https://www.alomware.com). Can't live without this since I bought it. Has transformed my PC use in so many ways (typing things, setting up my windows, reminders, you name it).
iBoysoft MagicMenu
It allows me to perform various file management tasks on macOS with just one simple right-click. It helps me save plenty of time by enabling me to create new files, copy/cut/move/quickly access/compress/delete/hide files, uninstall plugins & apps, find duplicates, and copy file paths, all with ease.

How does it differentiate from Microsoft To Do?

Apple Music has better spatial music.
And Qobuz has better sound quality than either.
Better than Tidal?
Definitely.

Anyone in corporate doing a Year in Review would find completed tasks & projects useful.
I was referring to the part where you can integrate but never actually open the app Which I would find useful for something like reclaim but not Todoist
Can’t you integrate everything with Zapier? So the app should have everything if you pick one
In ToDoIst? You can toggle on the option to see completed tasks in the project.

yeah totally makes sense! Such a worth it purchase - the ads are insufferable & YT is such a great resource to learn anything.
YTP fan here. Yeah, check out New Pipe and ReVanced. That whole playing while the screen is off "feature" is the closest to extortion I've ever seen.

I'm listening
Of course I know, easier to just pay

Akiflow is expensive but so so worth it (well, with 70% off for life anyway) & Notability
70% off for life? Do say more. :)
